And here's the next chapter for y'all! Again, a bit of a sad one, sorry 'bout that... Nonetheless, enjoy! And please fav/follow and RandR :D

Several years after Morayn's death, the Ásgarðian Realm was under attack once more. This time it was the Frost giants. They had managed to open a permanent portal on the Bifröst Bridge.

Heimdall had had to flee his position and wanted nothing more than to vanquish these evil creatures from their land. The Ásgarðian army gathered at the enormous golden gates, which were the only thing left between the Jotunns and Ásgarð.

The final battle was at hand.

"Okay, this is it," Fandral said, "The Battle for the Bifröst Bridge."

Everyone nodded calmly.

"We will be victorious," Thor said, "The Frost giant who can defeat us has yet to be born!"

The warriors grinned in agreement.

"Charge!" Thor yelled and ran forward. Sif, Volstagg, Hogun and all the other warriors followed, battle-ready. Machaira, however, stayed behind.

She was the Ásgarðians' last line of defence.

Fandral hugged her and smiled.

"Could you do me a favour and try not to turn into a Frost wolf?" he asked, "I do not think any of the Frost giants can hurt you then and I am not sure if I can calm you down…. In fact, I do not even know how I am supposed to do that."

"I will do my best," Machaira smiled faintly.

"Thank you, my beautiful," the dashing warrior said and kissed her tenderly on her lips.

Then he too went to battle.

Machaira smiled grim and drew her swords.

The Frost giants attacked fiercely and forced the Ásgarðians immediately into defence, but exactly that was their strongest point. The Ásgarðian army was known for its immensely strong defences, mostly thanks to Machaira.

The battle went on for hours as more and more Jotunns entered through the Bifröst. Machaira slashed and hew with her swords, making sure no Jotunn could pass the gates.

Suddenly she found herself surrounded by five Frost giants. She snarled at them and attacked. She turned her swords around, pierced one of the Frost giants behind her in his heart, and decapitated the other one.

Three left.

Quickly she turned her swords back and cut two other Frost giants in half in the same movement. She then rapidly launched an attack at the last one.

However, he had had time to prepare….

At the very moment Machaira was about to cut his head off, he jammed a Frost dagger through her chest. However, he couldn't prevent his own death, because only a second later, his head flew through the air.

Machaira groaned.

She saw there were no more Frost giants entering their Realm. She then roared, louder than ever. The Ásgarðians got the hint and quickly dropped to the ground.

The Frost giants looked around in surprise, for a moment frozen to their places. Machaira grinned and then slammed her swords together, creating a shockwave that splintered the Frost giants.

The Ásgarðians got up and looked around in awe, staring at the remnants of the Jotunns.

Sif looked admiring at her friend, the White Wolf, but then was shocked.

A frozen dagger was piercing the Warrior's chest.

The White Wolf looked at Sif and smiled sadly.

She dropped to one knee and groaned in pain. Her swords fell out of her hands. She grabbed the piece of ice and yanked it out of her chest.

A cry of pain slipped past her tong.

The Frost dagger splintered the moment it hit the ground.

Machaira fell back and noticed that somebody caught her. She coughed and blood leaked out of her mouth.

Sif ran towards her, kneeled and grabbed her hand.

"Machaira! Stay with me, please," she said worried.

Machaira smiled faintly and groaned.

"No Sif. I cannot… cannot stay," she whispered, "Do … do not worry… about me…."

"You must stay. You hear me? We need you."

"Did we win the war…, Sif?"

You won the war, Machaira. On your own."

Machaira laughed softly and more blood came out of her mouth and the hole in her chest.

"You have to let me go, Sif. There is no other way…. Please, let me go."

Sif looked up and saw that it was Loki who had caught the Warrior. He shook his head, hinting that Sif should not mention his presence to Machaira, who was too far gone to have noticed her ex.

Sif nodded almost invisibly.

"Let me go, Sif…. Please…" Machaira whispered, "I cannot… go on… any longer."

Sif sighed deeply. Tears welled from her eyes.

"Fine…" she sighed, "Go on then…, you may rest. You deserved it…. Goodbye…, my friend."

Machaira smiled and squeezed a bit in Sif's hand. She made suffocating sounds as even more blood gulfed out of her mouth. She gasped for air and groaned, pain searing through her body.

Then, all of the sudden, it was all over.

Her heart stopped, her breath ceased, her eyes became empty. All strength disappeared out of her body. Her hand slipped out of that of Sif.

For the second time, Machaira was dead.

Loki gently laid her down on the ground and tenderly closed her eyes. Sif took the dual swords and folded Machaira's hands around the grips.

Loki sighed deeply. "That is the second time I lose her. It still hurts just as much."

"Of course. The pain is no less for me either," Sif said sadly.

Step away from her, Loki!" Fandral cried suddenly.

Loki looked up and sighed again.

"Of course, Fandral. You are too late anyway. She is already gone," he said while getting up.

"What do you mean, 'she is gone'? Is she dead?" Fandral asked bewildered.

Then he saw the hole in Machaira's chest and gasped.

He sank to the ground.

He held out his hand and gently stroked Machaira's face with his fingertips, tracing the runes and scars.

"Why did you not save her?" he asked without looking up.

"She did not let us," Sif answered, "She had already decided to give in."

"And you know just as well as we do that Machaira would never change her mind once she had made a decision," Loki added.

Fandral sighed droopily.
