Marceline was simply staring at the boy as if she were trying to figure out what to do or even say for that matter. Finn wasn't doing any better. His mind was blank and his legs were stiff. He wanted to disappear at that moment. He wanted to be alone right now. He didn't want to see her. Not now. Without saying a word, she instantly flew towards him and wrapped him up in a tight embrace. A shuffling and crunching of leaves could be heard behind them. Marceline let him go and hissed at the forest. Isabel poured out from the woods and emerged into the clearing.

"Who are you?" Marceline asked aggressively

Isabel held her hands up and looked at Finn. The boy quickly snapped back into the realm of the living and butted in between the two.

"Whoa whoa whoa. Marceline, she's with me!" Finn told her

"I'm sorry if I startled you." Isabel apologized

Marceline instantly calmed down and retracted her claws. She then focused her attention on the runaway.

"Finn.."

Isabel sensed the importance of the conversation that they were going to have so she slowly wandered away. Marceline looked at the human with a sad look in her eyes.

"Finn, look I'm sorry for what I said to you." She said

When those words left her lips he could feel his regret dissolving. He felt the coldness of his emotional isolation leave him. But that didn't change what happened and what she truly thought about them being together. He then gently pushed her away.

"Please.. don't, Marceline. I'm just so tired of hearing excuses from people. From you, from PB, from everyone. I'm just so tired."

"Finn, I'm sorry."

She inched closer and gave him a small kiss on his cheek.

Finn felt horrible right now. He had so much weight on his shoulders that he alone had to bear. At least Marceline was trying to be here for him now. So he let her in. He brought her in for an embrace and gave her a small kiss on the lips. They broke away from each other slowly. Marceline took a good look at him as the moonlight reflected off of his face. He absolutely reeked of blood and it was taking all her strength to not pounce him and suck him dry. She noticed the stitches on his face and the various cuts he had.

"What happened to you?" She asked him

"Nothing.." He replied

"It doesn't seem like nothing."

Finn groaned lightly and looked the other way.

"Just tell me what happened.." She said to him softly

He looked back at her and met her gaze. Her light complexion and soft skin began to soothe him.

"You really want to know?" He asked

The area around them was silent.

"Yes." She nodded

A lonely pink corridor sits in the far end of the castle. Two people are walking down it. One a princess, one a knight.

"Princess, are you sure that the decision that the royal council made was the right one?" The knight asked

"Yes, I'm sure, Logan." The princess said to to the knight

"Maybe we should reconsider the verdict, Ms. Bubblegum. I don't think that Finn should've been stripped of his status." Logan told her

"Well it's not permanent. It's only for the time being." She said

Logan nodded and sighed. He took off his hood which revealed his face. He had brown hair that fell down his neck but barely covered his forehead and a small scar that traveled from his left eye to his cheek. But one of his most unique features were his eyes. They were dull shades of green and blue.

"I was wondering when you'd take that off." She said to him

"And why is that?" He asked

"Because you look better without it."

They continued walking down the pink halls in silence. Their footsteps echoing down the halls with each step they took. Soon enough they reached a red door and stopped walking. Logan turned and faced her.

"So I guess this is goodnight, Princess."

"Please... just call me Bonnie." She told him as she opened the door to her room

"Oh.. well goodnight, Bonnie."

"Good night, Logan." She said as she walked inside and closed the door behind her

Logan smiled and walked back down the hall. Princess Bubblegum was leaning against the door on the other side with her back and holding her hand over her chest. She could feel the beating of her heart go wild as the moments went on. She hadn't felt this feeling in years. Princess Bubblegum started pacing around her room while partially hyperventilating in excitement. She could feel a blush creeping on her cheeks.

"I think I have a crush." She whispered to herself

Flame King landed on the ground hard, shattering some of the earth beneath. She stood in a seething rage. She was looking at the house of the person she suspected of being the cause of Finn's disappearance. She was gazing into it to see if the person was actually home. She lit a fireball in her hand and swung it at the house, deciding that it wasn't really important to see if Marceline was home or not. The fireball crashed into the house causing the roof to explode. She conjured another ball of fire and threw it at her house. Another explosion boomed through the cave. Flame King flew towards the burning house and landed inside it. She began looking all around for a charred corpse. She looked and looked but didn't find a body. Flame King flew out of the house and landed on its front lawn.

"Where is she?!" Flame King screamed out in anger which caused her flames to grow brighter and become more intense

"She's not here." A voice said from behind her

Startled, Flame King quickly turned around and chucked a fireball. The person easily dodged the attack. She then saw who it was.

"Jake, what are you doing here? I almost hurt you!" She said out of concern

"I came here to tell you that she was gone and that there was no point in coming here but it looks like you already found out. Look, I really think you should think things through before you do them." He said

She began to walk to the entrance of the cave. Jake followed her closely.

"I don't need you to tell me anything more. You already lied to me about her so why should I care about what you have to say now?"

She floated into the air and stared straight through Jake.

"Don't follow me." She said coldly

She then flew out of the cave leaving Jake to his lonesome. Jake stood there in silence and watched as what was left of Marceline's house burn.

Finn, Marceline and Isabel were walking again. Finn was looking at the stars and thinking particularly of nothing. Not that he didn't have things on his mind. He had A LOT of things on his mind but he just didn't feel like lingering on those thoughts. Marceline was walking next to him wide awake and still pondering about the tale he'd just told her. She still couldn't believe that all of that happened to him within the course of a couple of days. He'd been tortured and confused for the majority of his time out here. Those words brought her back unpleasant memories but she pushed those away and continued to try to focus on the situation at hand. Marceline held her hand over Finn's and squeezed it a bit. She looked over to him and saw that he was lost in his own world. He didn't respond to the squeeze and simply stayed silent. Then his left arm began to glow. Finn held his left hand out in front of himself. Marceline began to stare at him curiously.

"What's happening to your arm?" Marceline asked

A small flame appeared within his hand. Little sparks of lightning began to swirl around it.

"Whoa.." He exclaimed

Finn closed his hand causing the flame to disappear and the glowing to stop. Finn looked over and saw Isabel a small ways over just staring at him. He saw that Marceline was looking at him with the same confused look on her face as well.

"That was.. new." Finn said aloud

Marceline could only stare in awe as her human partner was starting to become something more than what he seemed.

"What was that?" She asked him

"Uhh.." Finn trailed off

He didn't know what exactly to tell her. It wasn't the fact that he couldn't articulate it into words but rather because he didn't know if she would believe him. He decided that now wasn't exactly the time to tell her about how he really got this power and the reason for it.

"I..I don't know." He said

As they continued walking in the night a familiar cave began to peak over the darkened horizon. Marceline's eyes lit up and she flew towards her home, vanishing before Finn's very eyes. Finn ran after her leaving Isabel all to herself. Isabel hadn't spoke a word in several hours but she had thought many thoughts, felt many feelings through her silence. She felt sick to her stomach. Finn didn't mention her betrayal and that made her feel especially guilty. As if she wasn't feeling enough already. She then ran after them.

"What happened to my house?!" Marceline cried out in rage

Her eyes instantly became red and her hair began to flow in all directions. Her nails extended and her teeth became especially razor-sharp. Finn caught sight of what was left of her house and instantly knew who was behind it.

"It seems that someone burned it down." A random voice spoke to them

Marceline and Finn both turned around to find a strange man with brown hair walking up from behind them. Marceline quickly flew towards the man and grabbed him by his shirt and flew into the air.

"What did you do to my house?!" She asked, infuriated.

"Marceline, put him down!" Finn yelled to her

"I assure you that the damage done to your house was not by me. I just got here." The man said

"Liar!" Marceline shouted

"Marceline!" Finn shouted even more loudly

Marceline's eyes quickly turned back to normal as she looked back at Finn. A very faint but strange purple aura surrounded the human, giving her the sense that Finn was beginning to get upset.

"Put him down." Finn said calmly

Marceline violently threw the man back on the ground. The man landed with ease and dusted himself off. Marceline lowered herself back to the ground and stared at the remnants of her home.

"Now, the reason why I'm here is because someone reported a fire and I was sent her to investigate this mysterious case of arson involving your house." The man said

"Who sent you?" Marceline asked forcefully

"I was sent by the Candy Kingdom respectively." He said

"Princess Bubblegum sent you?" Finn asked

"Yes. My name is Logan and I've been sent here on behalf of the princess to make sure that Marceline Abadeer has not been harmed in this incident and guessing by your reaction, you're Marceline." He said as he looked at the vampire queen

Marceline sighed and nodded her head.

"And you are, sir?" Logan asked as he looked at the hero

"Finn. Finn the human."

"You're Finn?" Logan asked bewildered

"Yeah."

"You're back?"

"Yes, but please don't.. tell anyone just yet. I want to get settled down before people know I'm back."

"Ah. I see what you mean. Especially about the markings that resides on your arm. I guess you need some time to get used t-"

"What are you talking about?" Marceline cut him off

"Oh, he hasn't told you?"

"No, he hasn't." Marceline said firmly

Isabel entered the cave and saw Logan talking to Finn and Marceline.

"I'm terribly sorry but I must report back to the Candy Kingdom" Logan said as he turned around and began walking off.

The man slowly walked off and vanished. Then silence. Then the silence was broken.

"Finn, how exactly did you get those markings on your arm?" Isabel asked

The runaway sighed and ran a hand through his blonde hair. Marceline was just watching him and he knew that she was which made him even more nervous.

"I had a dream... A weird sort of dream that had some sense of significance to it. Everything around me was crumbling and floating around in some sort of weird place. I was there.. wondering where I was and.. someone was there with me. He said his name was Garrett and that we were in a place he called The Void."

Marceline's eyes widened a bit. She knew exactly what he was talking about. Her father would tell her stories of a special group of people who would receive powers through their dreams. They were called many things but one of the more popular coined terms was The Marked Ones. Her father also told her that when the recipient received their powers they were also given a task of immense importance so they could have the means of accomplishing it. So what was Finn's task?

"And then he told me something important.."

"What was it?" Marceline asked

"He said that the kingdoms of Ooo are going to go to war with themselves."

Finn walked away, hovering over the ground slightly to no one's notice. Isabel came up to Marceline and finally spoke.

"I hope you take care of him."

She then left after Finn, leaving Marceline in the cave by herself. Then silence. ...

END OF ACT I

It has been a while readers. Sorry for not updating in so long. Things have been more time consuming in the position i'm in. I have to juggle between school, work and my personal life. Hopefully I'll be able to update more quickly. The story will now be split up into acts and possibly transmissions in between the acts as well which should probably give you the idea that this story may be somewhat longer than what I originally planned it to be but I hope to keep it interesting. Also in regards to Logan, the new character, he will play a very important part in the events to come so do not dismiss him completely.

If you enjoyed this chapter, why not leave a review? It'd be nice if you did. And if this story hits 60 reviews, I will reveal what this story was going to be when I first thought of it. It is drastically different from what it is now I will tell you that. And if this doesn't hit 60 reviews, then I'll tell the people who still read this story anyway.

Well, see you next update.
