Chapter 9
Sam's POV
I woke the next day to find Han gone and my ankle felt much better then yesterday; guess resting worked wonders. I got up and walking out to find Han and Dom looking at something. I looked over at Han just as he looked up, catching my eyes on him, giving me a smile, since Dom was still looking at whatever it was. Han mouthed "I love you" to me which I mouthed back "I love you too". I saw Mia doing something so I thought I would go see what she was up too. As I walked up to her, I could still feel Han's eyes on me, maybe because I'm in some shorts and a vest that stopped at my belly bottom and my hair up in a messy bun. "Someone got eyes on you." Mia said to me as I got to her "And, who would that be?" I asked her even though I knew who it was. "Han, but you already knew that." Mia replied with a smirk. "Maybe." I said back to her smiling. "You so got him hooked." Mia said to me as I sat down on the set next to her. "No, I don't." I said back to her looking behind me to see Han now back to what he was doing with Dom. I looked back to see Mia just looking at me giving me a 'really?' look. "Yeah really, come on. How can I have him hooked after only a couple of days of being with him?" I asked Mia, hoping her answer would make sense. "He told he loves you, right?" Mia came back at me, I only nodded my head. "So there it is the hook; or are you just thinking it's only for this job then he is gone and you're forgotten?" Mia said making me look up at her, I wanted to lie. A part of me was thinking that. "I don't know ok, maybe. I know about his past and what he is like. I won't be shocked if it does happens." I said to her truthfully. "No, you won't be shocked, you would be heartbroken." Mia commented back. "Come on, Sam, I have seen the way you look at him, and knowing you since you came into my life 6 years ago, you have never once got close to a man, never slept with them, but here you are, Han has his hand all over you, in a good way, and you've slept together. You are going to be hurt if he leaves you." Mia said back to me, she was right. I would be hurt if he left me. I had never let any man get this close to me and with everything that had happen to me, I had no idea if I had sex before Han. Apparently, I had but couldn't remember any of it, like most things in life, before meeting Dom and the crew, my mum, my dad, if I had any brothers or sisters. One day, I hope everything would come back to me in a nice way.
Later that day, we were all getting ready to start the big job of all are lives. "I'm all set." Rome said as he walked past me, giving me a smile. "Yo, Santos, is the van good?" I heard Han shout over to Rico who just looked at Han. "You know we're always good, bro" Rico replied to him. Han came walking up to me, placing his bag on the table next to me, putting his hands on my waist and pulling me to him "Be safe." Han said to me as he kissed me forehead then placing his forehead on mine. "I should be telling you that; you're the one going out there. I'm just here to read the maps." I said to him, making him laugh a little. "Yeah, well, still anything can happen." Han replied, moving away a little to look at me, he leaned down giving me a soft kiss on the lips "You know, this isn't just for the job." Han said out for nowhere. "What?" I asked him. "I heard you and Mia taking before." Han replied, taking me off guard. "Han, I…" I tried to say something but I could not think off anything. "Hey, we'll talk once this is over." Han said to me kissing me again. God knew what he would think about me now. "Hobbs is on the other side of the city. We're not going to get a better window." Mia shouted out, Han just looked at me again. "Be safe and stay here, okay. I want to come back to my girl in one piece." Han commented before kissing me again but harder. "I will, but you be safe too. I want you to come back to me." I said to him, Han grabbed his bag off the table. "Okay, Guys! It's show time! First team in position. Let's go!" Dom shouted to the group as I watched Han got into his cop car. He looked at me and winked as I just smiled at him. They drove out, leaving dust flying up, now it was just me, Dom, Vince, Mia and Brian in the warehouse.
I started walking up towards Dom when I heard something like a car coming in. "They back all ready!" I said joking. "COPS!" Vince shouted as army looking cars started to pull in everywhere. "Sam, go! Run! Get out now!" Dom said to me pushing me to a way out the back. I looked up to see Mia and Brian run the other way just as I ran the way Dom told me. I could hear someone coming behind me. I lost time of how long I was running for but then I felt someone put their arms around my waist, picking me up. "Got you, Little Girl." A man's voice from behind me. "Get off me!" I yelled at him, kicking my legs out. "Try all you want. You're going nowhere." He said to me as he walked me back to the main part of the warehouse. Once we got there, I could see Dom fighting with that Hobbs guy, I really thought that Hobbs had gotten Dom but then out of nowhere, Dom flipped them as they came flying out the little window onto a table, throwing punches at each other. Everyone was telling and shouting for Dom to stop, but Dom picked up something. I could not make out what it was, but he held it high over his head "DOM!" Mia shouted as Dom brought the weapon down hitting the floor next to Hobbs's head. Dom got up, putting his hand behind his head, as Hobbs got himself to his feet, looking around at every one then to me. "What are you doing here? I can't believe you are still alive." Hobbs stated as he was looking at me while one of his men still had his hold of my arms. "Leave her alone!" Dom said to him, Hobbs just looked at him "I was talking the girl." Hobbs commented back to Dom then looking back at me "Look, I need to bring you in too, but once we're back at the States, we need to talk." Hobbs said to me before walking away. "Put them in the truck." Hobbs shouted to his team.
As we sat in the back with the female cop, Hobbs and one of his men were in the front. I could hear Hobbs talking on his radio but I pay nothing to it. I sat next to Dom as he looked at the floor. "AMBUSH!" All I heard was Hobbs shout before hearing a big bang, blowing up the vehicle in front of us; Hobbs and his men got out the truck. I could hear gun shots going over all over the place. "Cut us loose!" Brian said to the girl but she just look at him, not sure on what to do. While they were staring at each other, I felt something or someone push me on to the floor. "Sam, stay down. It's safer in here for you. Stay with Mia." Vince said to me as I looked to see Mia on the floor next to me. I looked up to see the female officer cutting the boys loose, then she came to me and Mia just as another explosion went off. Mia pushed me back down, shielding me with her body. I should have been shielding her; she the one carrying a baby. After what seemed like forever, but really, only a few short minutes, the gun shots were practically none existence and the boys were getting back into the armoured vehicle, the female officer got into the driver's seat while Mia climbed in the passenger seat. I stayed on the floor with Hobbs next to me. I looked at him then to Dom, quickly making sure he was okay. I was going to say something but Vince spoke before I could. "Hey, Dom, you've got to meet my son, Nico." Vince spoke with a bit of strain in his voice. I looked at him then to his side. As soon as I saw he was bleeding, I was at his side putting my hands on his wound. "I will." Dom said looking at Vince. I could feel the tears in my eyes. No, not some else, please, I couldn't do with loosing anymore family member. "He's a good kid. You know we named him after you. 'Dominic'." Vince said knowing his time was short. "You've got my word, Vince." Dom said right back to him with a smile. After a little, Vince stopped moving, I looked at him and his eyes were closed. "Vince." All I could say. "VINCE!" I shouted to him but nothing. "Sam." Dom voice came from the side of me as he put his hand on mine which were still holding Vince's side. "No." I whispered to Dom. "Sam, he's gone. I'm sorry." Dom said to me trying to move me from Vince but I just stayed there. "NO!" I said as the tears fell from my eyes. I felt heartbroken, that the third person to be killed in my family in six years of being in this family. Dom finally got me away from Vince and to his side as he held me close to him as I cried my eyes and heart out. We soon got to the warehouse, I had stopped crying but I said nothing, did nothing, just looked at the blood on my hands. Is this what it is like working this life day in, day out, never knowing if all your family was going to come home together at the end of the day, or not.
Brian helped Dom get Vince out the truck placing him on a table. I could see the rest of the team was back but I just stood there, I looked to my side to see Hobbs standing there. Half of me wanted to punch him right in the face, but the other half felt sorry for him. He just lost all his team. "Sam, go get yourself clean up." I looked to see Dom looking at me, I looked at him then to my hands some of the blood was drying on my hand and some was still wet.
I looked up again from my hands, I saw Han's back as he talked to Gisele but she stopped talking once she saw me. She much have said something since Han turned around looking right at me and then down to my hands. Before I knew it, he was standing right in front of me."Hey, are you all right you hurt? Are you cut?" Han questioned all too fast me to get ever world. "No." I said to him then look behind me to see Vince on the table. "He gone, Han. Vince is dead. He was killed." I said to Han and for the second time that day, I started to cry again. Han took a hold of me, pulling me in to him, hugging me tight in his arms. "Don't leave me please. I beg of you not to leave me. I can't take it anymore losing people I love. Please Han." It was all I could get out of my mouth, not the worlds I wanted to say by they still gave the same message. "I'm not leave you, Baby. I promise I'm not leaving you." Han said to me as he kissed me head. He walked me over to the little bathroom, washing my hand for me.
When he had dried my hands, he held me hand walking out to where everyone was, still trying to figure out their next move. "We need to move, we don't have that much time." Dom said as he walk past everyone. "I got us a flight out. We can leave Rio in the rear-view in the next five hours." Han said as he wrapped his arms around me. Dom stopped walking but did not look around. "Not to run away. To finish the job." Dom exclaimed to everyone. "Are you crazy, Dom? We can't." Gisele said out to him. "Dom, please, I don't want to lose anyone else?" I said to him but he never looked at me. "It's a suicide mission." Rome said as he got up of he set on the steps "That's your man over there on the table. The plan is busted. This is bullshit, Man, Reyes knows we're coming!" Rome added looking at Dom. "He's right, they tripled the detail at the police station. It's going to be a wall of gunfire." Tej added in, causing Dom to look at him, then to everyone. "Reyes doesn't get away with this." Dom said in the strong voice of his when he is trying to hold in his anger. "Dom, I know, but going in there when you could die get us nowhere and it won't bring anyone back." I said to him, Dom then looked at me as I had my head on Han's chest and my arms around his waist, like if I let go of him, I will never get to hold him again. Dom eyes went from me to Han "It's a trap man. You know that." Han said to him.
"Dom, listen to them, run before it's too late. Leave Rio, you can be free." The female cop told him, but going by her name tag, it was Elena. "Running ain't freedom, you should know that." Dom said looking at her, he then look around at everyone. "You know, you're all free to make your own choices." Dom add before he started to walk off. "I'm in!" Hobbs's voice came from behind us all, I looked at him as he pulled himself of the table he was leaning on, "I'll ride with you, Toretto. At least until we kill that son of a bitch." Hobbs added as he stood tall looking at Dom. I looked from Hobbs to Dom who has a little smile on his face. "So what's the plan, Dom? We can't just go sneaking around anymore." Brain spoke up, grinning at his friend. I guess we were doing this. "We don't sneak. The only thing he cares about is his money. We pull that, we pull him." Dom said looking at us all then to Hobbs. "But what if he doesn't come?" I asked out, knowing everyone was thinking it. "Oh, he will come. It's his money we are playing with; he is gonna want it back." Tej replied back to him. "Just do me one thing, Dom." I said out looking at Dom "Promise me everyone is going to come home after this is done." I demanded from him. Dom walked over to me as I moved from Han's arms, but keep a hold of his hand as Dom came closer. "Everyone is coming home, everyone. I promise you that, Sis." Dom said to me, kissing my forehead before walking over to Brian, I felt Han pull me back to him. "Oh and I'm coming on the road, you're going to need more cars out there if you're going to just go for it." I called out. "There is a spare cop car; you can use that one. It's about time we got to see your full driving skills." Dom shouted back to me. "You be safe out there." Han said as he looked into my eyes. "You will have my back so I'm safe." I said back to him before he kissed me on the lips hard, he then pulled away placing his forehead on mine. "I love you." He told me. "I love you too, Hot Shot." I replied back to him as I put my head on his chest, holding he tight again.
