Chapter 10: "When #Hope Happens Now…"

"Laying the Smack-eth Down?"

Fitz froze seeing the person standing in Olivia's living room. This vile person still thought they were welcome and belonged there. He clenched his fists against his pants and stared in their direction. His body tightened, every muscle even the one's he had forgotten he had.

She had heard through the grapevine that Olivia had returned home from her trip not feeling well. Adelyn still had her connections in town, and discovered that she was so sick, she had missed work. Something unheard of for Olivia. Fearing it could be more than just "being sick," she wanted to come by and see for herself.

A part of Adelyn feared Olivia had taken the "next step" with Fitz and gave herself to him in the most intimate way a woman can. Adelyn did not know that Olivia indeed "saved herself" for Fitz, but she would be damned if her daughter had gotten pregnant out of wedlock.

But hearing from other family members, Olivia had a terrible case of strep throat. Adelyn was grateful and decided to use this as an opening to stop by. Her child never wanted any one to take care of her when she was ill, even when she was a child. Only on a few occasions could Adelyn remember Olivia wanting to be "babied" or "pampered" when sick.

To tell the truth the only people she ever wanted when she was sick was her Grandpa Joe, Grandma Josephine or sometimes Louis. When Olivia was a baby she wanted her mother's love, but as she grew up, it changed. The memory of her father, curled up with her daughter still tugged at her heart.

Hearing that she was on the mend, Adelyn hoped maybe Olivia would talk to her again. They had not spoken since their last encounter when HE was still in Vermont by her daughter's side. Adelyn still felt that "President" Fitzgerald Grant poisioned her mind against her, making sure Olivia chose him over her own mother.

She had spent years keeping them apart, never forgetting the connection her father described when Olivia first met Fitz. She was ONLY a little girl, and did not like strangers. But something about Fitz, drew her in. Adelyn heard from Lillian Grant herself that Fitz did not open himself up to someone he did not know.

But that all changed, the day her father went to visit Lillian and had Olivia with him. Olivia had been shy around Fitz at first, but the moment he knelt down to her, and spoke to her like she mattered, it changed. Her daughter went willingly to Fitz, and they established a connection that never broke; not even after all this time.

She thought once Fitz married and had his own children that he had finally forgotten about the "Little Apple Dress Girl," not realizing that she never left his thoughts. Fitz had wondered what happened to her every day since, and so did her daughter. Adelyn wondered how such a strong connection to a person could happen so quickly; never feeling anything like that herself.

Her daughter is now an adult and her feelings of being drawn to "Rose Point" never wavered. The estate constantly pulled her back as a teenager and young woman. Adelyn tried to on many occasions to deter Olivia's mind, but Rose Point's hold on was constant, never diminishing.

What Adelyn did expect was Olivia's class writing Christmas letters luring Fitzgerald Grant back to Rose Point and into her daughter's life. She hoped and prayed that once Fitz had returned to DC they would see that she was not meant for that life, and end their relationship.

But after seeing Olivia and Louis at the State of the Union, and Fitz's reaction to her, she was sadly mistaken. Her daughter spent days with him in the White House. In that time she hoped Olivia would see that she belonged in Vermont, living a normal life without the prying eyes of the Nation.

Adelyn sat by waiting that Olivia would have returned home with the realization Fitz was NOT the man for her. She was not meant to be HIS wife, or First Lady. Most mothers would be thrilled if their child was dating the Leader of the Free World, and she would be IF it was NOT Fitzgerald Grant.

Her mother's hopes were dashed to hell seeing HIM still in her life and by her daughter's side. She stares him down feeling ill that he is BACK in her daughter's house. "Hello Fitzgerald," Adelyn finally voices his name, still fueled with the hatred.

"Hello Adelyn," he returns her greeting in the exact same voice tone.

"Where's my daughter," she asks with distain.

"In the shower," Fitz answers, walking forward. Stephen and Mitch are now flanking his sides making sure Adelyn does NOT go past them to see Olivia. Fitz was going to protect Olivia from the vile woman at all costs. If Fitz had anything to say about, there was NO WAY he was allowing her anywhere next to her.

"You're not with her," adding fuel to the fire, attempting to bate him.

Fitz instantly senses her motives. He raises his eyes, then crossing his arms. "No," answering in one monotone voice. His one word only response, causes Adelyn to move into the house more.

Stephen and Mitch move forward a few paces a head of Fitz. "Excuse me Ma'am but you cannot go any further."

Fitz continues to stare her down behind is loyal agents. "You cannot keep me from seeing my daughter gentleman. It is NOT your place. Please step aside."

"Actually Ma'am," Stephen steps forward, further blocking her path. "We can. As long as the President of the United States is here in Miss Pope's presence, you cannot pass. We have orders to protect the President."

"I am not here to see YOUR boss gentlemen," Adelyn sneers. "I am here to see my sick child."

Fitz scoffs behind them. "Bull shit," he answers causing both Mitch and Stephen to stifle back a laugh. "Olivia is not a child. She is a grown woman." Fitz points out.

Adelyn is trying to keep her emotions in check but this man his "security" are beginning to really tick her off. "She is still my child."

"Oh she is? You treated her like shit and a possession for years. Now she's your child. I'm touched," he contradicts. "I'll tell Livy you were here."

"I want to see her myself," her mother insists. "I need to make sure you haven't done anything to her."

Realizing she is attempting to bate him again into a fight, he releases a labored breath. "I have done NOTHING but keep her safe. I have given YOUR daughter more love in the last month, then you have her ENTIRE life. I assure you that she's the happiest woman on this earth."

"I'll be the judge of that. It's probably your fault she's been so ill," Adelyn mocks in a harsh tone. "She never gets sick Fitzgerald."

Now Fitz walks forward, stopping just a step in front of Stephen and Mitch. "Excuse me but ONLY my friends and family are allowed to be informal around me. Since YOU are neither, it' Mr. President or President Grant."

Adelyn raises her eyes, and glares at Fitz. Before she can invalidate his statement, Fitz counters with, "And furthermore her students in her class were sick, causing her to get strep. She was perfectly fine when she arrived in MY care," making sure her mother knew the full truth; even if it was none of her business.

"Well not that we've cleared that up Mr. President, please let me pass. I want to see MY daughter," trying to walk past him to reach Olivia. Her mother had one thought in her head; seeing Olivia for herself. The water in the shower stopped and had been for a couple of minutes, signaling to Adelyn that Olivia must be done.

Before Fitz can even react, Stephen and Mitch both stand in front of her, blocking her path. She moves to the right, then left, in order to get pass the Secret Service but his well-trained agents anticipate her every move. Fitz stands behind them, placing his clenched hands in his pockets.

Stephen mouths, "Sir please stay back," while Mitch keeps her back. As Stephen faces back to Adelyn, Mitch had already began to walk forward, moving her further away from Fitz and to where Olivia would be emerging out of her bedroom. Both agents anticipated this could happen and made sure they were prepared.

"Let me see my daughter," attempting to move past them.

"No," Fitz scowls and booms behind her. "She does NOT want you here Adelyn." Her mother stops her forward progression pass Mitch and Stephen, and faces Fitz. "You need to leave now."

"I will do NO such thing until I see MY Livy," with a hint of saccharine in her voice.

"She is NOT your Livy," Fitz walks forward, as Stephen and Mitch move out of his way. They stay close to his sides in case things escalate. "You lost the right to use that name with her the instant you conspired with my father to keep her away from me. She is NOT yours to control any longer."

Fitz was beginning to lose his temper, and his voice was elevating. Stephen and Mitch glanced at each other knowing firsthand how protective their boss was of the woman that he loves.

"And she's yours to control," her mother conveys in a condescending tone.

"No," Fitz answers flatly. "I do not control Olivia Carolyn Pope. She can make up her own mind what is best for her. I will support anything she wants or desires fully; no matter the cost to myself. She belongs to no one, but if she'll have me, I'm hers. Now I am going to ask my agents to escort you out," turning to leave to check on Olivia in her room.

"I will do no such thing," her mother bellows. "You have no jurisdiction here."

"No but I do," Adelyn hears next out of Olivia's father Louis, with Bernard and Elizabeth walking in behind him. They entered through the garage. Stephen and Mitch nod in their direction acknowledging their presence. They had been constant in the house all weekend, and had nothing to worry about in terms of Fitz's safety.

Fitz smiles at them briefly before walking up to Adelyn. He's about a foot away from her when he hears, "Fitzgerald stop," out of Elizabeth, Olivia's godmother. Instantly his body stops. "Move out of my way child. I've got this." Fitz nods and moves back as she insists.

Elizabeth is then beside Fitz and grabs a hold of his hand. She squeezes it gently and he begins to relax. "Miss Lizzy," he breathes out. "You don't have to do this," softening his voice.

"Oh but child," Fitz's corners of his mouth turn up hearing the southern in her voice. "I do. I know what she did to you and MY Godchild. I've been meaning to give her a piece of my mind for a long time. Me being a good Christian woman aside. It's overdue in fact."

Adelyn huffs. "Your input concerning MY daughter is not wanted Elizabeth."

Elizabeth moves past Fitz, and backs up slightly into him, causing Fitz and the agents to move back also. Once he's out of "range" so to speak, she faces her sister in law. Elizabeth has dealt with more than enough of her shit over the years to last a lifetime. Once she heard what Adelyn had done, that was IT for her.

"Adelyn you and I have never really seen eye to eye on anything over the last years; especially when it came to that extraordinary woman I helped raise." Adelyn raises her eyes at this comment. "You don't think so. In spite of all your 'teachings' and "tough love' that courageous woman in the back ended up being TEN TIMES the woman you are."

"Ha," Adelyn vents.

"You don't think so. Well I KNOW so. She captured the MOST Powerful Man's in the World heart. A feet any woman on this earth would give anything for. You should be proud, thrilled in fact that Fitzgerald can give her the world," clarifying further.

"Whatever," throwing her hand up in the air. "You've always been jealous of me Lizzy because Olivia was not YOUR child."

"Maybe so," looking at Bernard who grins, knowing this was coming. "But your own daughter has wished to me over and over again that I was her mother. You may have carried that incredible woman back there for nine months my dear but THAT DOES NOT make you her Mommy. Big difference."

"You are jealous because you just have boys," finally looking at Bernard and Louis.

"No I love my sons. They are my greatest loves and would do anything for me; even now. But Olivia is my ONLY God-child, so in a sense my daughter. I love her more than you and have given her more love than you ever have until," clenching her heart. Bernard begins to walk to her until he sees Fitz step forward and brace himself behind her.

Fitz places his hands on her elbows, allowing Elizabeth to calm down. Her heart flutters slightly, as she gazes up into Fitz's eyes. She shakes it off and says directly to him, "you came into her life. I thank you for loving that girl in a way that most of us have only dreamt about."

Fitz blushes at her praise, and kisses her forehead. "Phew," feeling light headed after getting kissed by the President of the United States.

"Lizzy," Bernard calls her name, seeing his wife getting a little overheated for Adelyn and not getting a kiss from Fitz.

"I knew you were a charmer," teasing Fitz briefly before turning back Adelyn. She taps his chest and walks up until she is right in Adelyn's personal space. "You are a ruthless, jealous BITCH," causing the room to gasp, hearing her curse, "And cannot handle that YOUR OWN daughter is ten times the woman you are and will become this nation's First Lady."

Adelyn is shocked at Elizabeth's language. She never curses. "Elizabeth I want to see my daughter," now looking to Louis.

"No you will NOT see her," Louis booms. He motions for Fitz to take Lizzy to sit down in the kitchen and he does. Bernard stays with her, making her some tea. "Leave Addie now before I have Fitz and the agents throw you out."

Adelyn and Louis have barely spoken since the he found out everything she had done to keep Fitz and their daughter apart. She did move out and was living with a "family friend." Louis had been staying in the house, but he spent a great deal of time with Olivia at this house.

Olivia loved having him around and going to DC with her to surprise Fitz was more than he could have hoped for. Fitz proved beyond himself how much he truly loved his baby girl; making his heart swell with pride for both of them. He had no reservations that Olivia made him and his children better. He just wished that Adelyn could see that also.

Adelyn attempts to approach Louis but he places his hands up, stopping her. "Don't you even think about it! I don't know why you came here Addie but as you can tell you are not welcome."

"Did President Grant," speaking his title filled with disrespect, "brainwash you too Louie. I hoped you'd seen him for what he truly is."

/

Why Are You Here?

Before Louis can answer, the entire room heard, "And what is that MOTHER," out of Olivia standing now in the room. Her hands were placed on her hips, no longer as ill as she was before. She had been fever-free since the early hours of the morning, and felt well enough to get out of bed.

She had been struggling to eat any solids, but last night she was finally able to swallow something with substance, giving her strength. Fitz had barely left her side, only when absolutely necessary. He doted on her every need, barely letting Elizabeth pamper her.

Olivia hated the attention, but knew if she did not allow Fitz to spoil her, she'd\ never hear the end of it. She chastised him constantly about risking national security to be by her bedside. "I don't care," he always replied and pulled her into his arms. To be honest she loved him more for it, and hoped he did not return to Washington sick.

Seeing her standing there, Fitz promptly goes to her side. Before he can take her into his arms she stops him. "Livy," his voice is strained.

"Shh…," placing her dainty fingers over his lips. "I've got this."

"You sure. She's your mother," leaning over. "And evil." Bernard and Elizabeth hear Fitz's comment and giggle in the kitchen.

Olivia stifles a laugh, rolls her eyes, and places her hands on his face. She can see how tired he truly is in his eyes. "She is fully aware what she had done to us. I need her some answers as to why she is here. Watch and learn handsome," wrapping her arms around his neck. He cannot hold himself back and pulls her body closer.

Sighing out, he buries his nose in her hair allowing her lavender conditioner permeate into his lungs. She feels the rise and fall of his chest, sensing his body relax. "You sure," drawing her into him closer, finally placing his forehead against hers; needing the feel of her skin.

Bernard, Louis, Elizabeth are struck by what they are witnessing. Olivia wields so much power of Fitz it's mind-blowing. Her god-mother has been around them the entire weekend, witnessing the depth of their love for the other. It warmed her heart seeing how giving, kind, and attentive Fitz is to Olivia. But this before her eyes, is staggering.

She has never witnessed two people so desperately in love with the other. Her head turns to watch Adelyn for brief moments, her gaze softens. Elizabeth thinks she's imagining it, but she can see hints of it in her face. When no one is watching her, a small smile graces her face, but then quickly disappears.

Oblivious to what is happening around them, Olivia hold his face in her hands. "She's my mother Fitz. And she got into bed with your father to keep us apart. I do not want her here, but I still need to find out why she came. Okay?"

"I love you," murmuring just over her lips.

"I know. Now what and learn Mr. President," dropping her voice and finally getting a smile out of Fitz. He releases her and as she begins to walk away, she turns back and comes for a quick kiss. His lips linger after she walks away ready to face her mother. Fitz opens his eyes, and watches the woman he loves ready to take down her down.

Fitz instructs Stephen and Mitch to step back. They stand by the garage and back door making sure everything is secure. Fitz then leans back on Olivia's counter, watching his Livy.

Olivia knows no one will leave them alone, and makes peace with it. She inhales and exhales quickly standing in front of her mother with her arms crossed in front of her chest.

"How are you Dear?" Adelyn asks breaking the ice.

"Fine mother," Olivia answers quickly.

"Just fine," Adelyn counters. "You sure you're well enough to be out of bed. Here let me," she begins to move closer but Oliva waves her hands in the air, stopping Adelyn from touching her. Her mother's hands on her body anywhere is the LAST thing she wants.

"Trust me Mom I'm fine. No fever. Now why are you here," asking in a harsh tone.

"Can't a mother just come and check on her child," answering in a sweet voice.

"You've never done it before so why start now," Olivia replies not buying her mother's concerns for her well-being. "So. What. Do. You Want?"

"I heard you were sick. I came by to make sure it was nothing to serious," looking at Fitz in the background. "I heard you missed work, and could barely eat anything."

Olivia listened to her mother's explanation wanting to believe her but felt something was off. She replayed her words in her mind, and saw how she kept watching Fitz. Then it hit her. "I'm not pregnant," blurting out, feeling Fitz now moving closer to where she's standing.

"Excuse me," Fitz bellows behind her. It's obvious that is not the case.

"Livy I know that," her mother sweetly points out, doing her best not to fight with her.

"Do you," Olivia questions harshly. "Trust me I'm not. Do you want me to show you proof?" This causes the entire room to stand up. "Cause I can Momma. I can walk straight away into my bathroom and prove it right now."

Adelyn stares back at her daughter not sure how to answer her remark. She's happy she's not carry Fitz's illegitimate child. "I am just worried about you."

"No you're not," feeling Fitz approaching her. Olivia turns around, pleading with him to stop, which he does. She then faces her mother. "You are ONLY worried about yourself. I am fully aware you saw his interview," facing him again. His hands are in his pockets and he's looking at her with such love. "He did great and AMERICA loves him."

"And the Vermont Lake Monster's do to," Louis points out to Bernard and Louis. "They want him throw out the first pitch this year." Fitz chuckles hearing their conversation.

"I did watch it dear," Adelyn states, ignoring them. "I fear those reporters will find out who you are and make your life difficult. Reporters can be so nasty honey."

"It's not your job to protect me Mom," walking to Fitz, wrapping herself around his torso. Fitz smiles looking deep into her eyes. "It's Fitz's and the Secret Service. He only wants me safe," getting on her tip-toes nuzzling her face into neck.

"Livy," he moans, now holding her body close. He places his head gently on hers, and closes his eyes. "I'll do everything in my power to ensure no one harms you."

"I know," she places her hands on his face. She kisses his lips quickly, hearing a groan from her mother. Olivia now faces her. "I understand Mother what it means to be with Fitz. I may not be ready for it all, but with his help," pulling his face closer, "and love I'll be fine."

"Love doesn't fix everything you silly girl," Adelyn scoffs. "Real life is NOT a fairy tale and Fitzgerald Grant is NOT your Prince Charming!"

Fitz almost answers for Olivia but she stops him. She begins to pull away from him but places her hand out for him, and both of them walk over to stand in front of her mother. "No he's not my Prince, he's so much more. He is the love of my life. Love with the right person fixes some things. I'm am NOT giving Fitz up Mother. You BEST come to grips with that truth. Fitz and I are in this together."

"You are still living in a fairy tale Livy. People like us don't get happy endings," Adelyn explains. "It's not in the cards. Life is NOT all about fairies, rainbows and Princes coming on White Horses to save you. The President does not have pixie dust or a magic want to scare all the horrible people away. I raised you to be smart and to take care of yourself. Not a helpless love sick girl."

"I am NOT helpless mother," Olivia counters quickly.

"Yes you are."

"And why's that Adelyn," Fitz then speaks. He pulls Olivia to his side. She cocoons herself around his waist and torso, anchoring herself to his strength. "Are you jealous that I am ALL those things for your daughter, especially the white part," he gazes at Olivia. "I do own a White Horse you know."

She squints. "Really?" But she knows he is referring to something else.

"I do. I can't wait for you to see her," kissing her nose, making her blush.

"That is NOT the problem I have with you Mr. President. I have higher standards for my daughter. You are NOT the right man for her," Adelyn voices with hatred. "Once a Grant…always a…"

"Mother stop it," Olivia raises her voice quickly, and pulls away from Fitz. "Fitz is NOT his father. I do not know what it going to take for you to get that in your thick skull of yours. He's has proven it to Daddy, Mammy and Uncle Bernie. He loves me for WHO I am mother. And I love him."

"You will get hurt in his world Livy dear. It's not the place for you," Adelyn tries to reason with her. "After seeing you on TV I thought you'd figure that out and…."

"And walk away," Fitz finishes her mother's thought. "We'll you are wrong. It was her idea for me to come clean about knowing her. I have been watching the headlines all weekend Adelyn and the nation already loves her. My interview went beautifully and let me tell you something," now walking into her person space to tower over her.

"Fitz," Olivia speaks softly behind him to calm him. She can see the tension in his body can hear it in his voice. He faces Olivia, nodding "no."

"Your daughter," softening his voice, "blew me away. She walked through the West Wing on Cyrus Beene's arm not like a scared teacher from Vermont, but the future First Lady of this country. Livy was poised, confident," looking at Olivia now "and so breathtakingly beautiful."

"Fitz," sighing.

He walks to Olivia. "She took my breath away and continues to do so every time I am around her. Seeing the woman I love, walking those halls, made me realize not only do I belong there but Livy does as well by my side. I am NOT going to let your daughter go Adelyn not for anything. So you best be prepared for US to be together."

"And if I don't," Adelyn interjects.

"Then I'll personally make your life miserable," Fitz voices with hatred in his voice, daring her to challenge him further. "You find that I am quite powerful."

"And I major turn on," speaking in a voice only Fitz's hears. He wiggles his eye brows, hoping to prove it to her one day soon. "Mother I am not going to ask you again, leave my house and don't come back unless you hear that I am dying."

"Olivia you don't mean that," Adelyn interjects.

"You want to make a bet Mother," finally walking away from Fitz, into right into Adelyn's face. "I always have another card left to play. No please leave before I ask Stephen and Mitch," stepping forward "to throw you out on your over-priced…,"

"Olivia Carolyn Pope, don't you finish that statement," Louis calls to his daughter from the other side of the room. "She is still your mother."

"Yes Sir," Olivia answers respectfully. "Please leave."

Her mother walks forward, and attempts to touch her face. Olivia doesn't flinch and actually allows it. "I ONLY want what is best for you Sweetheart."

"No you don't. You only wants what suits you and your agenda," pulling back and walking directly into Fitz's embrace. "Fitz is what's best for me Mom. Except HIM and US as a team or not at all. That's your only choice you have."

Fitz wraps his arms around her body. One of his hands he places gently on the back of her head, as she snuggles her face into his chest. She is still watching her mother closely, hoping she'll leave willingly. She begins to sniffle against his chest, feeling like a helpless child all over again.

Adelyn looks at Louis. "I'll be calling you Louis to check on her."

"Fine," he replies.

"He won't tell you much Addie," Elizabeth begins to walk in her direction. She opens Oliva's front door and holds it for her to walk out of. She motions for her to leave and finally Adelyn complies.

"I do love you…," are Adelyn's last words. Elizabeth closes the door and Olivia goes into her Godmother's arms. She sniffles against her shoulders. Elizabeth sensed this was going to happen the moment Adelyn left, and began to coo in her ear that everything was going to be all right.

She motions for Fitz to sit down, and she brings Olivia back to him. Olivia feels his hand on her back, and she turns around. She fights the urge to fling herself into his arms, knowing it will bring ushered tears. Fitz sees her fighting the emotions only Adelyn Pope create.

Elizabeth then gently places her hand in Fitz's. "Mammy," she whimpers.

"Sit with him child. He is what you need right now." Fitz's thumb is caressing her upper part of her hand lightly. His ever-so-soft touch, not only sooths her but allows her eyes to pool with water.

"Mammy we are having company soon," reminding Elizabeth about their dinner plans.

"I know dear. I already called them. They will be here in about an hour. I told everyone that we're running a tad bit behind. So no worries. Sit with Fitz and he'll make everything better." Elizabeth places her arms on Olivia's forearms, making her sit on Fitz.

"Child if you don't sit in this man's lap and let him hold you, trust me I'll do it instead," making Fitz turns ten shades of red. "I already know his hugs feel divine," fanning herself walking next to him. She looks down, "Hold her Mr. President," making Fitz smile.

"I got her," Fitz winks and Elizabeth kisses him on the cheek. She scoots everyone out of the room to make sure they have everything for dinner.

How much Hope do we have.…?

In Fitz's arms, Olivia's whimpers begin to grow louder. He coos into the top of her head that he has her; he always will. Nothing will change that. Not her mother, the country, nothing will separate them. She is his and but more importantly belongs to her.

"You won't lose me Livy. Ever," he voices with conviction in his voice and heart.

"You promise," her plea is filled with double that ONLY Adelyn Pope can stir within the woman he loves and cherishes.

"Not ever," stating in a tone filled with his undying love and devotion to her and their life together. She squeaks and begins to cry. "You're my endgame. Now and forever," cradling her in his arms so he can look in her eyes. "I WILL never be over you OR let you go."

She nods, and nuzzles her face into his chest, listening to his heart's strong rhythm. Olivia wraps her arms around Fitz's body tighter now afraid he'll disappear before her eyes. She sniffles and aches to cry out but will not allow herself to. If she succumbs to the heartache only her mother can bring, Adelyn wins. She will not allow that.

"You don't have to be strong Livy," running his hands up her back. "I'm here. Let me be your strength. I'll carry the weight of her evil deeds for the both of us."

Closing her eyes, Olivia listens to Fitz's words as they wash over her like a wave from the ocean. The warmth, strength of not only his deep baritone voice carries over her body, calming her emotions from within. It helps her see how lucky she is to have Fitz. "I love you," she murmurs against his shirt.

Fitz deeply sighs hearing the tenderness and doubt in her voice. He wants to her to not only know, but remember that she has him no matter the distance, and responsibility he has being President. She WILL always come first in his life, no matter the cost to him personally and professionally.

He holds her close a few moments longer and helps her sit up so he can look into her eyes. His sees doubt but all the love she has for him in the "melted chocolate orbs" that captured his very soul all those years ago.

Holding her face, he places a light kiss on her forehead. "Your mother is NOT going to win. I won't allow her or anyone for that matter to destroy what we finally found in the other. Do you know why?" She shakes her head 'no." "Because we have something Livy that she doesn't."

"What?"

"Hope," is his only remark, with a tender smile. He sees the light return to her eyes knowing she finally believes him. He kisses her lips. Pulling away, he states "Walk with me."

Olivia swallows quickly. "But everyone will be here soon Fitz. We can't just..."

"I know Livy, but I think Quincy could use some fresh air," being careful not to say the "w.a.l.k" word "and I know I need to stretch my long legs. As President I need to stay in shape," giving her a shameless grin.

"Your body feels pretty good to me handsome," smiling slightly answering him.

"Well help me keep it in shape then. I'll let everyone know," Fitz sweetly explains as she lifts herself off his lap. He watches her contemplate going knowing she is supposed to help her Godmother cook. "We won't be gone long and I'll see that Mammy only does minimal prep work. All right?"

"I live to serve The President," she teases, walking away from him getting her coat and Quincy's leash. He shakes his head, totally mesmerized by the sway of her hips. The jeans she is wearing hug her waist perfectly, that his eyes are totally drawn to them. Olivia feels his eyes on her bum. "Focus Fitzgerald. These hips are least of your worries right now."

Fitz blushes, and walks over to her. He assists her with her jacket, and then jerks her close. His large hands travel down to her hips and slowly creep till then can sit on her jean back pockets. His large fingers find their way inside. She blushes loving his soft but sensual caresses.

She raises her eyes to Fitz. "What," he asks.

"I never took you for an ass man," stating point blank, making Fitz laugh.

"Well if you got it darling, flaunt it," edging her forward, squeezing both cheeks. Olivia finally laughs out loud. She runs her hands up his sweater and holds his head. "But with you, I am definitely an "everything" man." He drops his voice dangerously low, growling into her ear.

"Fitz," she chastises feeling her cheeks heat up. She points "like he's been a bad boy," causing Fitz to only erupt in laugher. He grabs her hand with the pointed finger and tugs her to him. He melts in his arms instantly, allowing Fitz to wrap his arms around her, and lifting her off the ground.

"I thought you liked it when I'm bad," nuzzling his face in her neck. She can feel his lips on her skin, causing a small fire within her stomach.

"I do but not right this second," attempting to pull free from his hold. "You want to go for a walk or not," she verbalizes without thinking. Quincy hears it from the back of the house and comes running. The dog grabs his leash and brings it to Olivia and Fitz.

He whimpers and whines, with his two front paws on both of them. "You did that on purpose," Fitz playfully complains.

"I would never," Olivia huffs. "But I need to be here for Mammy to help cook so let's go and make this quick."

Fitz releases her, and she commands Quincy to sit until she runs to tell Louis, her Uncle Bernard, and Elizabeth what their plans are. Elizabeth insists that she has dinner handled and that the fresh air will do all three of them good. She kisses her godmother and heads back to Fitz.

He is now dressed along with Stephen and Mitch. Quincy is also leashed and sitting "patiently" by Fitz. The moment the dog senses that Olivia has returned, he wags his tail waiting to head out the door. She calls for Quincy to come to her but he continues to sit by Fitz.

"Quincy come," but he nuzzles his nose to Fitz's hand. Fitz does his best to hide the smirk from appearing on his face but Olivia's "you stole by dog" facial expression, eventually makes him snicker. "Not funny Fizzy."

"Fizzy," raising his eyes challenging her further. "I wouldn't talk there Miss First Girlfriend. Your hair is pretty puffy when he gets wet."

Olivia saunters over to Fitz, with an extra sway in her hips. Her eyes are locked on his baby blues and by the looks of it, she's ready to pounce on him. He hands the leash over and she gets on her tippy toes for a quick kiss. She pulls away just before Fitz can lean down and get one.

"Hey," he protests.

Running her own fingers through her own hair, she answers "And if you want to do more than run your fingers through my natural puffy curls, you best remember I always play to win. Losing is not an option Mr. President," dropping her voice dangerously low.

Fitz growls, causing Quincy to bark, and Olivia to giggle. He nuzzles his nose against her face. "You won me Livy the moment you turned around in your class room and I caught you in my arms. Best moment of my life."

Instantly her eyes soften. "I hate you."

"Ah huh. I hate you too," taking her and Quincy out the back door for a walk. Stephen and Mitch follow closely behind as they head down her drive way. The cool crisp air fills her lungs and blows through her hair, making her last few days of being ill fade away.

They keep eye to make sure no one is watching, and it does not appear to be the case. Fitz notices Olivia looking around as they head to the street worried that someone will see them. Feeling the hesitation in her steps, he stops in front of her. He leans forward running his thumbs over her lips.

"Fitz, what are you…," she stops when he kisses her lightly. He lingers his lips on hers. He finally pulls away, leaving her face of one of pure bliss. She opens her eyes and sees Fitz looking at her with so much love in his eyes. "Why did you do that," looking around.

"Because I wanted to and I can," he takes her hand and bring it to his lips for him to kiss. He holds it there, keeping his eyes zooned in on hers. "Stop worrying. There is no one here," beginning to walk her across the street. She is still anxious looking around, not convinced.

"And how do you know that," challenging Fitz's reasoning.

"Because if there was, Quincy would be barking, and my agents are patrolling the nearby area. Only residents are allowed down this street, and you have to trust me," finally stopping outside the Rose Point gates. He uses his key to unlock it and they walk inside. He locks it behind him. "Okay?"

"Fine," she stands there and then he sees a gleam in her eyes. She looks up the drive way and back to him. "First one to the top wins," wiggling her eye brows.

"Oh this again," he walks in front of her. "You cheated last time Miss Pope," remembering their last race, and if there first meal was a date or not.

"I did no such thing," huffing playfully. "I'll tell you what. If you win you can SHOW ME what hope means. You can carry me to where ever you want, and have your way with me."

"Oh really," liking this idea. "Show you what hope means," placing his finger against his mouth, thinking of his options. "My way with you too. Within reason of course," pointing out. "Because there's no ding without the bling."

"Yes but there's nothing in the rules that say you can't feel me up anyway you want," walking up to him, wrapping her arms around his neck. His hands are in his pockets in an attempt not to touch her. He feels really warm at the moment and it's not from the winter jacket he's wearing.

Olivia watches his pupils darken and enlarge. Their bodies are pressed together, and can feel how much he desires her. "Anything I want huh," dropping his voice. "I think you have a deal. You just be prepared for me to make your hair curl."

"Ah there's hope…if you can manage," licking her lips. Moving away from Fitz. "Oh and I'm counting on it Mr. President," winking. Then before he's ready she takes off up the driveway with Quincy.

"Hey no fair," Fitz yells and tosses a snowball at her causing her to slow down. Instantly his long legs make it to her, and finally runs past her, making it first to the house. He turns to see with her hands on her hips, realizing she may have gotten into something with him, her body is not ready for.

They both stand there with silly grins on their faces. He places his hand out for her to take and she slowly walks to him. Their hands touch, and they stand there under the portico. He walks her to the house, and turns the key to unlock the door. She's grinning behind him, feeling her heart beating in her chest.

He opens the door and allows Quincy to go inside. Fitz spins around feeling Olivia's grip on his hand increasing. He steps back into her space, and stares sweetly into her eyes. "So…," speaking just above a whisper.

"So," biting her bottom lip to hide her nervousness. "Where's Nigel?"

"He told me the house was empty. He's very informative," lifting her face so he can gaze into her eyes.

"Is that so," she huskily answers. He steps forward and wraps his strong arms around her back. She feels his hands on her hipbone, and his fingers intertwine behind her. Fitz bits his bottom lip, feeling the air between them grow heated. Their breaths are in sync in the cold air outside the door.

"Ah huh," he moans as he bends his knees, scooping her up in his arms.

She giggles feeling like a bride being carried over the thresh hold. He closes the door behind them and brings her to the center of the room, where they had their first kiss on Christmas Eve. Fitz unzips her jacket, tosses it onto the floor, along with her hat. He then does the same with his own.

Olivia begins to fidget under his intense stare, feeling major butterflies taking off in her stomach. Using his long legs to his advantage, Fitz begins to stroll in her direction closing the distance between them quickly. "Mr. Pres-i-dent," she stutters, knowing he is going to take her up on winning their beat.

She backs away, to place some space between them. Fitz raises his eyes, and gives her a devilish grin about making her trip. "Oh I like that…say it again," closing in on her quickly.

"President Grant," she voices in a tone of embarrassment and hunger. She did not want it to sound that sexy, but could not help it. Fitz chuckles, and grins even more when she backs into the couch. "Fuck," she curses, making Fitz cackle loudly. He is fully aware that she rarely swears.

Taking "baby steps" forward, he is in her personal space. He towers above her small body, fully taking her in. With no way to get around Fitz's massive frame, Olivia lays back on the oversized couch. Attempting to get away from Fitz, she slides backwards. Fitz anticipates grabbing her legs, pulling her back so he can hover over her body.

Breathing heavily underneath him, she realizes Fitzgerald Grant is no way letting her out of his arms. That had not had a moment alone since she left DC a few days ago and she can see in his eyes, how much he's missed her. Yes Fitz had been with her all weekend, but not in the way he hoped or planned.

"So," raising her voice.

"So," mimicking her tone, still playing innocent. He perched himself only inches away from their faces touching. Olivia feels his HOT breath on her face, and his large hands ghosting her legs in the jeans she's wearing. His hand is on the outside of her hip, edging closer to the back of firm bottom.

"So what happens now," she asks in raspy tone, losing her will to fight him.

"Whatever we want," he answers, dropping his voice, just ghosting his lips over her face. He's barely touching her, and she feels her body screaming for Fitz to do something; anything really. If this is what he feels like to be this close to him with close on, their wedding night won't have her walking for over a week.

He hovers above her body, and stares into her eyes, thinking the same thing. "Fitz," feeling the air between them changing drastically. He uses his knee to open her legs, and lays gently between them. His fingers trail the inside of her thighs. Her breath hitches, thinking of what he'll do to her next.

Trying to ease the tension between them, "What if someone comes looking for us?"

"Trust me Livy, we won't be disturbed for some time," leaning down to press their lips together in a heated kiss. It's only been a few days since he's really kissed her deeply, but for him it feels like years. He knows she's "fever-free" and has been aching to kiss her leaving her panting for more.

She resisting him because she wants him to work for it. "So is there hope that I finally get to kiss you ANYWAY I want? You did say if I won our little race, I could have you anyway you'd let me," whispering deep and low into her ear. His lips are now on her neck as his hand attempt to lift up her shirt to caress her soft skin.

"Oh I think it could be arranged," pulling up and off his sweater. Her hands find his skin and she runs them up his muscular back. Fitz moans feeling her hands on his body. She then removes them and places them around the back of his neck.
"But?"

"But what," he stammers under her spell.

"You have to stop talk talking for the next twenty minutes to show me how much hope there is," smiling as she brings their lips together for a kiss they have both wanted and long overdue.

*Drops #HopeFulls of #Crumbs and leaves you in "that" place.

Yuppers I am going to leave you "hoping" for another chapter sooner rather than later. But with 8 other stories needing my fingers, I am unsure when this will update again. There are at least 2-3 stories I am trying to close out this summer. One beginning "Yes Mr. President There is a Santa Claus." I DO NOT want to write it all summer. ;-)

Also I had some major writer's block for this chapter and I want to thank "Reader575" for helping me get my #FitzTogether and unblock me. (So send her some kudos and extra love. Maybe she'll update #DessertPrincess for me. Hint Hint.)

I hope this update was what you needed. I know Miss Elizabeth "Mammy" telling Adelyn off was a BLAST to write. Trust me she is not gone, and will return. She still feels Fitz is not right for Olivia (I know what is she smoking!) So I hope I wrote that section in the way you hoped.

So leave me your thoughts and what you think Fitz should do to his Livy now that he has her finally to himself. I think he's going to take #20Minutes of no talking pretty seriously.

Toodles my loves…Me's
