This is the last chapter! Story for the long wait, and please stay tuned for the next story in the saga!
"Now stay out of trouble now, you hear?" I couldn't help but to roll my eyes at my brother's words, I can't believe he just told me that.
I raised a brow. "Shouldn't I be asking you that question?" I asked him as we walked towards the stables near my house, so I could check on Abrar.
He shrugged. "Probably." I just shook his head at that, before walking up and patting my horse's neck.
"Hey boy." I murmured a bit, soothingly. "Have you been good?" I talked to him for a couple minutes before looking back over to Rick. "So, when are you all heading back to London?" I asked him.
"We're probably going to leave tonight." He said.
"Really?" I asked, surprised. "So soon?"
He nodded. "Yeah, we just want to get back we have a lot to clean up over there." He said. I nodded understandingly.
"I get it." I nodded. "Just be careful and as you said before, stay out of trouble." I teased him.
He rolled his eyes. "You know me, trouble seems to find me." He told me before walking out of the stables.
I gave Abrar one last pat. I snorted as I followed my brother back to the house. "Yeah, sure it does."
Everyone was cleaned up and ready to go a few hours later, and ready to catch their flight, I had an early morning tomorrow, so I wouldn't be going to take them to the airport. I hugged Evy, then Alex and Jonathan. My brother hugged me last. "Take care of yourself and tell Ardeth that if he doesn't treat you right, then he'll have me to deal with."
I chuckled as I hugged my brother back. "I can take care of myself Rick."
"But I'm still your older brother, and it's my job." He shook his head before ruffling my hair. "See ya." He said, before getting in the car behind the others.
"Hey!" I smoothed my hair down and watched them leave before turning back inside and closing the door behind me. I then went to go and get my own shower, I hadn't had much time after arriving back home, but now that my family were heading back to London, I found the time, and my hair was literally starting to become itchy.
I did feel much better once I got out of the shower, or at least my head did anyway. Hopefully that that would be the last time that any of us would have to deal with Imhotep. Though I had a feeling that he wouldn't be trying to take over the world anymore. And besides, even if someone had found him somehow and awoke him again, which was very unlikely, after the betrayal of Anck-Su-Namun, he wouldn't go trying to rise her again.
By the time that I had gotten to the kitchen to figure something out for dinner, it was already after 9. I fixed myself a simple sandwich for lunch and then went to bed.
I slept in that next morning, figuring after everything that had went on in the last week, I deserved a little time to catch up on all of the sleepless hours that I had missed. I ended up getting up around 10 that next morning and quickly dressed before making some toast for breakfast and drank some orange juice, which was really all that I had, and reminded myself that I needed to go out for supplies.
First though, I had to get some stuff done around the house. I went outside to dig up some dead plants, to make way for the seeds that I would plant later. It wasn't too much longer before I heard a voice behind me and turned to see Ardeth.
I gave a small smile as I stood up. "Hey." I waited as he crossed the distance and hugged him as he wrapped his arms around me.
"Hey." He murmured. "I trust that you all got out okay?" I knew he was referring to the events from yesterday.
I nodded. "We did." I told him. "They left last night." I looked back to what I had been doing. "Care to help me?" I asked. "All I'm doing is pulling up old weeds and dead plants."
He looked over to them. "Okay." He nodded and did just that. With his help, I was able to get this done sooner than I would've without help.
"You know." He looked over at him as we sat on the steps after finishing that task, taking my hand gently. I looked to him to see what he had to say. "I know at one time before your father died, we were to be betrothed." I nodded, listening, as this was true, but that had ended when my mother took me away.
"That was the past, but I am now thinking of the future." He said. He looked back over to me. "Would you marry me?" He asked.
I put my arms around him. "Yes, of course." I murmured to him, feeling his arms around me before he gently kissed me. This was the start of something new, a happy ending to all of the dark events that had taken place.
