Lily POV

After James hesitantly let the other four in and then I had silenced all of them with my quick wand work so they wouldn't kill us, Stephanie and Remus went to hang out in their rooms and Sirius had pouted all the way up the staircase, Chrissa was still sitting in the common room when I turned my gaze to her.

She tried saying something, but then she gave me a look and I retrieved my wand.

"Can I talk to you?" Chrissa nodded towards the door and I sent an apologetic look at James, who shrugged and waved us off. I knew he most likely wanted to go into a long list of things that I should watch out for, so I instead kissed him quickly and then skipped out of the portrait.

"You guys seem closer than ever." Chrissa commented. My cheeks reddened and Chrissa laughed, hooking her arm through mine. "It's about time."

I nudged her with my elbow. "Says you."

Chrissa shrugged. "It hasn't been that long for me and Remus. You've been avoiding your obvious attraction to James for years."

I snorted and she laughed softly. "Anyway I wanted to thank you. If you hadn't been there, Remus and I probably wouldn't have sorted everything out." She smiled at her feet. "He asked me on a date."
I let out a soft squeal and grabbed her arms. "That's great, Chrissa!"

Chrissa nodded, looking out the window. "Yeah. So thanks."

I grinned at her and she looked back the way we had come. "Do you think Steph and Sirius will take their chance?"
I sighed; my smile fading quickly. "Sirius and Stephanie are alike in one major way: They are both stubborn."

Chrissa laughed again. "Yeah. It might take them a little longer." She shot me a look out of the corner of her eye."But you guys will be hard to beat."

I smacked her arm but she only smiled in amusement. "Anyway, thanks. I should let you get back to your boy toy now that you two seemed to have worked something out."
I grabbed her arm as she tried to bypass me, smirking slightly. "How about we walk around instead? I'd love the chance to stretch my legs."
Chrissa raised an eyebrow, but I pulled her along after me.

"So Snape just kissed you?" Chrissa asked incredulously, for like the eightieth time. I nodded and curved to the side of the hallway to avoid a group of third years. "Yes, Chrissa. He kissed me. Now can we get on with our conversation?"

Chrissa shook her head. "And James didn't punch him? What is the fun in that?"
"Chrissa!"

The girl shrugged as she grabbed her wand out of her pocket. "He didn't even hex him?"

I shook my head quickly and she gazed longingly at the wand. "But I've always wanted to hex that sleezeball. And James even had a reason!"
I tried to remain stern but a smile slipped across my face and I let out a small laugh. "You're terrible."
Chrissa smiled triumphantly. "See? Even you agree."
I shook my head again. "No, I don't. I have never wanted to hex Severus Snape."
"That's good to know."
Chrissa grabbed my arm as we whirled to face Amos. He wore an irritating smirk and he strode forward so that he was only a foot length away from us, eyes staring intently at me. Glittering at me.

I took a step back, reaching down to grab my wand but my heart sank when I saw it resting in Amos's left hand. He slowly pocketed it and then raised an eyebrow at me, as if waiting to see what I would do.
"Give me back my wand." I tried to sound authoritative, but if I recalled correctly James had done all of the authoritative Head stuff for a long time.

Amos chuckled. "Naw. I think I'll keep it. It would be a fun keepsake, a memento."

"Go away, Diggory." How did Chrissa manage to sound more authoritative than me? That's messed up.

Amos twirled his own wand his his hand and then pointed it in turn at Chrissa and I. "I wonder..."
"What do you want, Diggory?" I interrupted him, and he chuckled. He reached forward to touch my face but I smacked his hand away. He only laughed and then made a swinging motion with his wand at Chrissa. She flew backwards and was slammed into the wall, her feet crumbling out from under her.

"Chrissa!" The words were out of my mouth and I made a move to run towards her, but Amos grabbed my wrist and pushed me against the opposite wall. He pocketed his wand and then grabbed my cheeks, pressing his lips down on mine.

I slammed my knee into his groin and rushed to Chrissa's side. She had a small gash on her arm but otherwise looked fine, and she had already begun to draw her wand. Amos chuckled and strode forwards, kneeling down beside us momentarily.

"I'm not done with you." He rose and walked away.

I helped Chrissa to her feet as she rubbed at her head, wincing as she did so. "My head hurts."
"We need to get you to Madame Pomfrey.." I started to say, but Chrissa shook her head.

"No. You don't have a wand and I don't think I could focus on one thing long enough to do much good. We need to go back to the dorm and tell Remus and James so that they can.."
"No!" Chrissa raised her eyebrow at me and I lowered my voice. "I told James I could take care of myself. It would obviously look bad if I lost my wand the first time I went out without a troop."
I began to lead Chrissa down the corridors, but she still looked confused. "You need your wand back Lily, and I don't think it would be wise for you to go get it yourself."
I shook my head, rounding the corner so that the Head Dorm was in visible distance.

James was paging through a book when we entered. He looked up and smiled, patting the couch next to him. "Hey Lils, remember when Slughorn said that..."
"Sorry James! Can't talk right now." I pushed Chrissa up the stairs and shot an apologetic look at my boyfriend. "Tell you later."
He raised an eyebrow but then shrugged and returned to his book. Odd almost. I had expected more of an explanation.

Remus was coming out of the girl's dorm when we reached the landing. We could've made it by him it Chrissa hadn't lost her balance and collapsed on the landing with a groan. "I'm dizzy."
Remus opened his mouth but then quickly bent down at her side."Chrissa, are you okay?"
Chrissa didn't answer as she rubbed at her head and Remus turned his worried eyes to me. "What the hell happened?"
I looked down the stairs and then helped pull Chrissa to her feet. "It was nothing really, see.."
"Lily.." Remus growled warningly as he helped Chrissa to her bed. She collapsed on it and shut her eyes tightly, rolling into a ball and holding her head.

"You can't tell James." I grabbed a blanket off of my bed and tucked it around her. Remus sighed but nodded. "We ran into Diggory.."
"What?" Remus grabbed my shoulders and shook them lightly. "What happened?"

"He stole my wand and then slammed Chrissa into a wall." Remus raised an eyebrow and I sighed. "You can't tell James, got it?"

"You can't tell me what?" James stood in the doorway, eyebrow arched as he took a step in the doorway. His eyes went to Chrissa lying on the bed, and then he closed the door behind him. I unconsciously took a step back and then sat down on Chrissa's bed. James's eyes followed my every movement and Remus turned his gaze to me. I was apparently in this one alone.

"Nothing that matters." I felt Chrissa's forehead. It didn't feel too hot or too cold, which I took as a good sign. James made a noise in his throat and I felt his hand curl around my wrist, pulling me back up to my feet.

"What's going on? And I saw the gash when you came in, so don't try to deny that something is up."

Remus shrugged when I turned to him for advice, and James's grip tightened around my wrist. "The truth, Lily."
I sighed and pulled him over to my bed, gesturing for him to sit. "Chrissa and I went walking around the school. Amos found us." James dropped my hand as his eyes hardened. "He kind of slammed Chrissa into a wall and tried to kiss me."

James stared into my eyes. "Tried?"

I shifted nervously, looking back up at Remus. "He did kiss me, and then he stomped off." I purposely neglected to mention the part that he had said that he wasn't done with me, or that he had my wand. Those I could keep to didn't supply the information, but he didn't look happy that I had neglected to mention about my wand. Remus didn't even know about Amos's parting words.

James rose to his feet slowly, before attempting to stalk out the door. Remus caught him and they shared a look, James's shoulders beginning to relax and he sighed. "Lily..."
I raised my hands. "It's not my fault that I seem to have a target taped to my back." I smiled and then turned my back to him. "Do I?"

I could tell that James was trying not to smile as he reminded me that this was serious, but the moment was still slightly more tense then I liked.

"What are we going to do about Diggory?" James asked Remus, who shrugged.

"I say that we wait a little bit, get Chrissa taken care of. We need to keep our guard up, but if the girls stay in more public places I don't see how anything could happen. With Diggory or Snape, James."
I nodded appreciatively at Remus, who gave me a curt nod in response.

"The library was a public place." James growled, but Remus shook his head and James looked at me. He forced himself to take a deep breath and then he came back to sit beside me, taking my hand into his. "Sorry Lils."
I nodded, leaning forwards and giving him a light kiss. "I know. I'm fine James, and I know it won't happen again." I'll be better prepared next time, I told myself.

James rubbed the back of his neck and then hesitantly settled his arm around me. "I hope so."

"You know the overprotective thing can be slightly sexy." I told James as he sat back down on the couch. He raised an eyebrow and I propped my elbows underneath me so I could kiss him. "And I have great news for you."

James chuckled and placed his hands by both of my shoulders. "And what is that?"

I grabbed his shirt, pulling him closer to me. "You are a way better kisser than Amos ever was."
James frowned. "You're comparing?"

I grinned as our noses touched. "Nope. 'Cause there is no comparison."
James smiled and he moved even a little closer, so that our lips were only centimeters apart. "I guess that is a good thing then, since you are dating me."

Our lips melted together, and I don't remember ever stopping. I do remember him repostioniong himself so that I was lying on top of him, my head resting on his chest as his arms held tight around me. I was almost to sleep when the words fluttered out of my mouth. "I love you James."
James smiled into my hair. "I love you too, Lils."

I forgot all about Snape and Diggory, about the fight that James and I had had earlier, and about everything else bad that had occurred. I felt safe in James's arms, and that was exactly where I wanted to be.
