a/n: Sorry for the long wait, I struggled with getting my thoughts together with school and everything.

"Guys, guys, guys! You are not going to believe what just happened!" Gold came in rushing to the cafeteria with Soul right behind him.

The tables left their food (with the exception of Dia) and turned to them. "Okay, I know some of you aren't on speaking terms," Soul looked at Chris and Silver, who were sitting on separate tables next to Platina and Green respectively, "but you really want to hear this."

"Red just asked Yellow out!" Gold blurted and got an instant gasp from the crowd. Dia dropped the food in his mouth.

"Well finally. How long have they been unofficially together now?" Chris asked rhetorically.

"Three years, two months, twelve days," answered Green.

"What, no hours?" grinned Sapphy.

"It's half past twelve now so eighteen hours and twenty-four minutes," he answered.

"Know-it-all," muttered Sapphy.

"Thanks."

"I want you to show me everything that happened, exactly," instructed Ruby.

"Okay, Soul you be Yellow, I'll be Red," said Gold.

"What? Why?" she asked

"Um, because you're the girl?"

"That is so sexist. I wanted to be Red; I believe I can perform better as him."

"Will you just be Yellow already!" Gold yelled.

"Fine," she huffed, "Okay so here goes."

Soul waved her hand over her face to get into character and Gold shook his head. They moved a couple feet from each other. Soul's back was turned to Gold and held her arms up as she was carrying textbooks. "Hey, Yellow! Got a second?"

Soul turned around hastily and acted as if she'd dropped her books. "Oh, I do now," she attempted a nervous laugh, but it came out more of a flirty giggle. She crouched down to pick up her imaginary books. "What did you want to talk about?"

Gold crouched down to help her. "Are you doing anything this Friday?" he asked while looking directly at the books.

"Yeah, we have class remember?"

"No, I mean after school."

"Oh. Yeah, no I don't have any plans. Why do you ask?" She looked directly at him.

He quickly looked away and muttered something.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you. Could you say that again?" she got a tiny bit closer.

"Do you want to do something with me Friday night?" he asked clearly.

Shyly, she looked away. "You mean like a date?"

He kept looking at the imaginary books. "Um, yeah," he looked up and straight at her.

She let out a tiny smile. "Yes, I'd like that," she looked back up at him, only to realize their faces were a couple inches away. They both quickly looked away and hastily tried to finish getting the 'books'. "I should get to class."

"Yeah, I should get going too," he said as he passed her a few 'books'. And it seemed they were almost done with the books as they both reached for the final one and their hands met and they quickly exchanged an embarrassed glance, and they quickly looked away. He pushed the book towards her and she took as they both stood up.

"I'll see you later then," she said, and bowed. "And that's exactly how it happened. More or less."

They received some applause from their audience, most of which were very impressed. Green kept his cool and acted nonchalant, but nodded his head for approval. Silver seemed to be the only one to be genuinely not impressed and a bit irritated by the scene.

"You've just made my day. Thank you," said Ruby wiping a tear away from his eyes.

"Where's Blue? She'd have a field day with this," said Chris.

"She's nevah around nowadays," said Sapphy.

"Emerald said she's been hanging out in the kindergarten," said Pearl.

"She doesn't seem much like a kid person," thought Soul out loud.

"At least her loudness will go unnoticed in there," said Green.

"You should be the one to complain the most. Her absence makes you the third wheel in the group now," said Ruby.

Green's eyes grew in realization, but went back to normal in less than a second. He clicked his tongue and left.

"Huh, he must have contracted the tongue clicking from you," Gold said to Silver, who immediately got up and left. "Right."

"Come on we got to get to class," said Soul as she tugged his shirt.

"You coming?" he asked to Chris, who didn't acknowledge him and went on with her lunch. "Are you kidding me? Just do whatever you want, bossy-pants." He stormed off with Soul chasing after him.

"You are being less than reasonable," commented Platina.

"Yah, what are boys if they're not always fightin'?" said Sapphy.

"Civil," answered Ruby.

"Shut yer trap, will ya!" Sapphy warned him.

"I don't think to whom I speak or not is any of your business," Chris got up and left.

"She was being extra proper. Must have really meant it," said Pearl.

"Ugh!" Gold came in to the boys' shared room, threw his bag on the floor, and himself on the couch.

"What happened to you?" asked Ruby. "On second thought, I really don't care."

Gold considered talking back at him, but gave up. "Hey, Green. Can I ask you something?"

"Nothing stupid."

"I thought there were no such things as stupid questions," Gold remarked.

"Have you met yourself?" Ruby commented.

"You mind your own business. This is serious." Ruby seemed less than amused and returned to his homework. "So I know you and Red started off as rivals, how did you guys become friends instead?"

"We are still rivals. When it comes to battling, nothing else, obviously. Being friends doesn't change that," Green answered.

"No way, how did you manage to do that? Being friends, I mean."

"It's not that hard. In the end we are more similar than we are different, especially when it comes to our love and battling. Being rivals only adds a level of competitiveness and that only makes us want to become better. You also end up learning a lot from each other whether you like it or not. Kind of like what siblings have."

"Do you think of Red as your brother?" asked Gold.

"I guess in a sense. I mean I don't think of him the same way I think of my sister, but–Wait. Are you asking me all of this to make up with Silver?"

"No!" Gold crossed his arms. "We weren't even friends to begin with so technically we can't 'make up'."

"I wouldn't know about that. You guys have been getting along pretty well this year compared the previous two. What changed?"

"I don't know. You think something caused this?"

"Maybe. Try to figure out when you guys started to argue more and what else change around that time, and then fix that."

Gold contemplated on what Green just told him for a while, then got up suddenly with a wide-eyed expression. "I think I've got it!" He suddenly looked very upset. "Yeah, and I know what to do..."

- END OF CHAPTER -

Sorry for the chapter not being long, but I promise the next one isn't too far away. I know exactly what to do with that one so shouldn't take too long. I just really wanted to end this chapter on a cliffhanger.

Hope you enjoyed it. What did you think? Feel free to leave a review.
