Chapter 10: nightmares

Laxus's POV

I felt weaker than usual, and way more tired then I should have been.

"Woah this is a new experience!" Caleb exclaimed slightly leaning against the wall of the church.

"Guys we figured it out! The riddle makes sense now!" Exclaimed an overly excited Natsu.

"Woah what happened you look exhausted!" He exclaimed again poking Caleb and me.

"Shut the hell up and tell us what the riddle means!" Gajeel yelled. Stupid metal face he needs to keep his cool instead of blowing up like that. But honestly I would have yelled at the damned fire brain if he didn't.

"Oh yeah so there are five different caves at the top of this mountain that we have to go into in order to save the girls. Apparently a lot of people go up that mountain and don't come down because the monsters from each cave kill them." He explained pointing eagerly to a huge mountain that was over looking the city. Five normal sized holes could be seen from where we were standing.

"Well I don't know about you guys but I'm going to go kick some ass and save that girl I saw if any of you wants to join me then be my guest." I said walking twords the mountain. Not caring if anyone helped me.

*with Mya*

I approached the door on the far side of the room, cautiously looking around as I did.

"My my my look what we have here our little princess broke my charm it looks like shadow was right you are a strong one." A creepy scratchy voice said in a playful tone.

" who are you?!" I said quickly turning around.

" me? I am a contortionist of the mind. What ever you feel what ever your afraid of I can bend to my advantage. I am the one people fear at night I am Nightmare." The guy grumbled again.

"That was one hell of an introduction. Too bad that it was wasted on someone who is going to kill you." I said looking around again, I couldn't see anyone just blackness.

"Oh a feisty little princess! This will make it more fun to kill you! After all I love it when I get to play with my food." The guy said cackling a spine tingling laugh.

"Food? Why wou- your not human are you?" I asked my eyes widening slightly.

"Oh my dear how correct you are. I am Nightmare the beast of this cave and since you have escaped before your beloved water slayer has come it is my job to kill you then feast on your flesh." Said the voice. Green cat like eyes opened in front of me and a light turned on. In front of me was a huge dragon cat thing, it had the neck, body, and wings of a dragon but the head, tail and feet of a cat. It had like eight rows of teeth which were stained a pinkish color from the blood of the humans he had consumed. In between its claws were shreds of clothing from his last couple victims. This might be harder than I thought it was going to be.

Emma's POV

I knew from the time I broke free that whoever was torturing me before wasnt about to let me leave the room, or was it a cave? I wasn't sure at the time all I knew was that I needed to get out and find the others. I ran to the door but was almost immediately thrown back against the wall I was chained too.

"Where does this shining star think she's going?" Said an old voice.

"I don't think I know I'm going to kick some ass" I replied standing up.

"Oh so the star has some attitude doesn't she?" The voice said again.

"Yessss she doessss." Hissed another voice. I looked into the darkness of the cave I was in, there was two yellow and two blue eyes staring at me.

"I'm guessing your not human. What are you? Who are you?" I asked.

"Who are we? Hmm we are the one and only dream eater. We feast on the nightmares people have and weaken their magic or life force in the process. It's a wonderful game we play with our, guests, wouldn't you agree?"

"No you sick twisted thing!" I exclaimed. For some reason the cave was illuminated and I got a full view of the monster I was dealing with. Two large bird heads were connected to red scaly skin with no feet just uncontrollable tentacles which threatened to grab anything they could. This was not what I had expected.

Baylee's POV

I could feel the other presence in the room. I looked to the door until I heard the scuttling of claws hitting the floor. 'Aw shit' I thought.

"Are you a bug?" I asked the noise.

"Partially" a female voice replied. I jumped slightly not expecting an answer.

"Are you here to keep me inside the room?" I asked groaning slightly.

"That is our orders." A smooth male voice said.

"So the only way out is a fight?" I asked, my eyes shining slightly.

"Yes but it is up to you." A third voice said, croaking slightly.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"We are not a who but a what. We are everything yet nothing, we can see yet we are blind, we can hear but we are deaf, we can speak yet we are mute. We are you yet we are us we are Mind. We take your memories, your fears, your wants and use them against you." The voices said in unison. I lit up the cave slightly and there was a spiders body with bug like claws for feet it had human arms and three long slimy necks on the necks there was a female face with no eyes and big ears, there was a male face with no mouth and eyes wide open, and there was a child's face with no ears or eyes just a mouth which was wide open.

"What's the matter angel? Are you afraid of us?" The monster said again. I froze, completely unsure what to do. I sure hope Mya and Emma are okay…

With Caleb

Man I'm not running fast enough damn it! Why can't I run any fast? How could I get there faster?

'Excuse me but why don't you fly?'

"I can't fly what ar- holy shit I can fly! Why didn't I think of that sooner? You're a genius!" Every body turned and looked at me like I was crazy.

I stopped and concentrated and my wings sprout out of my back ripping off my shirt because this was my only shirt that didn't have holes for my wings, oh well.

"See you guys at the top… I have a princess to save!"
