Jamie awoke to find Eddie fast asleep in his arms the tears long since dried. After Danny left Jamie held and rocked her while she cried until exhausted. He then carried her to bed cradling her in his arms making sure she felt safe and loved.

Planting a gentle kiss on her cheek Jamie nestled his head on the pillow not ready to move away from her. The ringing of Jamie's cell stirred Eddie who let out a low moan sleepily. Grinning Jamie quickly snatched the object answering it while Eddie rested against his chest. "Reagan."

"Officer Reagan, this is Detective Baker the commissioner has ordered you and your partner to his office forthwith."

Jamie sat up wide eyed assuring they'd be there shortly. "Eddie my dad wants to see us now."

That snapped Eddie out of the dream filled state as she too sat up worried. "Did your brother tell him?"

Jamie shook his head unsure of how to answer. He hoped Danny wouldn't have gone back to their dad but he was so angry last night. Throwing the covers back they got up and dressed quickly wasting no time. Without breakfast or coffee the partners headed up to the 14th floor at 1pp.

Baker announced them with a sympathetic look sensing the conversation was not going to be good. Both stood at attention side by side until Frank ordered them sit. Lips pressed together Frank looked between the two.

"I want an honest answer, are you seeing each other as more then partners?"

Jamie glanced at Eddie sighing before speaking up first. "Sir, my partner came over last night because she'd just shot and killed a man who would have killed me. She was upset only being on the job for two days, so we talked it over which I don't believe constitutes a relationship and is not in violation of the guidebook."

Frank shook his head at Jamie's defense, avoiding a true answer. "I have a credible source who witnessed you two engaging a relationship that was more than just partners and that is in the guidebook officer Reagan. You of all people should know that."

"With all due respect sir Officer Janko has only been on the force for two days so this witnesses account is not valid or reliable without proper evidence to back his story."

All right," Frank sighed folding his hands on top of his desk. "Jamie...if you are having feelings

for your partner, that's okay. It's not speaking up and being reassigned that's not okay. Love is a gift, Jamie. Don't lose that for a partnership, for fear of change. The life long partnership is much more important."

Jamie nodded, 'Officer Janko had a hard life. She's unsure, she's scared, she needs someone to be there to listen to her, be there for her and I am going to be that person. If her head isn't clear, I'm the one at risk. By being her sounding board, I'm saving my own ass or do you want to lose another son, because if you keep going, somehow or other, you might."

Frank sighed, he knew now he's hit a nerve, but for now he'd bide his time and make a surprise visit to Jamie at a later date. For now, Jamie had a point. "Be careful Jamie. I don't want you hurt...that's all."

"I won't."

Frank nodded sighing as he fixed his tie. "You're both dismissed, be careful."

Both officers stood saluting him respectfully before walking out of the office together relieved. "So what happens now," Eddie asked confused.

"Now we go get some coffee and breakfast before tour," Jamie said with a smile, leading her out.

With an arm wrapped around Eddie Jamie took her to a diner pulling out a chair for her waiting until she sat to take a seat himself. A waitress watched them smiling bringing menus over eyeing Jamie. "My name is Patricia if there's anything you want just ask," she winked at Jamie walking off.

"Think you got an admirer Jamie," she teased amused as his face burned bright red.

Jamie looked confused between Eddie and where the waitress disappeared to. "What that waitress shes being nice so we tip more. " Eddie laughed at his complete cluelessly looking over the menu.

The waitress returned to take their orders keeping her eyes on Jamie before heading off to the kitchen. Jamie reached across the table taking her hand. He smiled adoringly at her leaning in for a kiss.

"Hey aren't you two supposed to be working?"

Renzulli approached them stopping in before tour for a cup of coffee seeing the two sitting together. "Hey Sgt," Jamie greeted.

"Reagan, Janko I want you two in my office when you get in even before you change got it?" Renzulli raised an eyebrow at them taking his coffee with him.

Eddie looked at Jamie worried but Jamie ran his finger over her arm. "Relax he's a good guy and my dad already knows."

Sighing Eddie leaned back when their food came pushing it around not hungry.

After finishing breakfast Jamie drove them to the precinct ready to face whatever Renzuli was about to tell them. Jamie nodded at Eddie following her to Renzulli's office knocking.

"Come in and shut the door," Renzulli said waving them in.

Jamie closed the door behind him standing next to Eddie at attention. "So you two have been partners a long time and I'm thinking it's about time we switch it up. Janko you're riding with me today, Reagan with Michaels."

"Why sir, we've been good together," Jamie protested despite the consequences.

Renzulli cocked an eyebrow at him surprised Jamie questioned him. "Cause I said so, it probably won't be permanent so don't push it Reagan."

Sighing Jamie met Eddie's eyes giving his boss a nod before going to search for his new partner mumbling under his breath. He found Michaels waiting for him just outside Remzulli's office.

"Guess we're riding together, this is going to be so cool riding with the boss' kid. I bet you have a million stories." Jamie groaned wondering how he seemed to get stuck babysitting the rookies leading them out to their assigned RMP.

Across town Danny slammed his hand against a table frustrated the only words his perp knew how to say was lawyer. "Listen to me we got you on video punching that guy and stabbing him in the back so if you want a deal start talking."

"What part of I want my lawyer aren't you getting," the perp asked with a cocky smirk.

"Keep smiling cause my partner is waiting on ballistics and when your prints match you'll be heading to jail dirtbag," threatened Danny raising his voice. The perp sat back calmly smirking at the hot headed Detective getting Danny even more pissed.

The door opened behind him allowing Baez to enter a look of concern on her face. "Danny," she called softly. Giving the perp one final glaring look Danny followed his partner out into the hall.

"Tell me you got something for me partner cause this mutt isn't talking," Danny grumbled.

Baez's brown eyes softened preparing to explain why she pulled him out. "No ballistics is still running. I pulled you out because there's something you have to see."

She led him across the precinct where a crowd formed around the tv. "In case you're just joining us several police units are responding to massive gunshots, including the local 12th precinct. We don't know what triggered the shots but we have confirmed reports of several injured officers from the 12th trapped in the middle."

"Son of a bitch," Danny cursed, pulling out his cell dialing Jamie cursing again when his voicemail picked up. "Kid give me a call when you get this."

Danny hung up immediately dialing his father hoping he would have heard something more. "Hey Danny yes I heard."

"Dad is it?"

"We're not sure yet, we have additional units responding. I just know he wasn't riding with officer Janko today. I'll find out if it's Jamie." Frank hung up going back to work on the situation leaving Danny to just stand wondering anxiously. He can't lose another brother.

Danny looked back at the television praying for some mention of the officers status. Baez stood quiet feeling bad hoping it wasn't her partner's brother.

While they waited Baez watched the news hoping for an update while Danny kept getting in touch with Jamie. A half hour after the report came on Erin entered their precinct making a line for her oldest brother. "Danny is it?" Her eyes twinkled with fear since hearing the news.

"We don't know yet, they're finding out," Danny sighed wanting to go down himself and check because he'll be damned if he looses another brother.

Instead he flipped open his phone again starting back to the hallway so he could hear better. "Hey dad any word yet? Erin just came too we're both worried."

Frank sighed tiredly and worried about his youngest not wanting to go through losing another son. "No they're cutting the officer off to stop us from getting to him but the cop's partner was just a rookie. Danny if Renzulli switched Jamie's partner today.."

Danny shook his head squeezing his eyes shut not ready to go there. "Have you heard from Tony yet?"

"Yes, he's worried but busy helping his officers , so is Officer Janko. "

Danny scowled under his breath at her name not sure his brother would do any better with her. "Keep us updated okay?"

"Danny!"

Hearing Erin and Baez calling him, Danny rushed towards them hanging up on his father without saying goodbye. He skidded to a stop next to Baez following her gaze back to the tv.

"Breaking news on the earlier report several officers managed to break through and get to the fallen cops who are being helped now. Special agents have arrived on scene as well to end this."

Behind the reporter Renzulli stepped out blood splattered on his cheek as he helped another officer carrying the rookie Jamie had been riding with. Right behind them two more officers followed carrying an unmoving Jamie his uniform painted red.
