Hey, another update as an apology for my abscence. Hope you like. Enjoy~percypen
With those words she pushed him over the edge. Venom pooled in his mouth and he shook with anticipation as he licked languidly against her pulse.
Her heartbeat thudded as he sank his pearly white, slick with venom teeth into the soft flesh of her neck. Almost immediately blood welled up.
Jasper moaned against her skin as he drank the crimson liquid ravenously. His clawing hand grasped harder against her shoulder, the other lodged firmly at her hip keeping her in place.
Smiling, Bar left her neck exposed to the attentions of the thirsty vampire and loosly wrapped her arms around Jasp
er, hands playing gently with his hair.
All too soon she became lightheaded and her legs gave out due to blood loss. Jasper fell with her, never moving from her neck. She gently tapped his shoulder but, he was so far gone he didn't respond.
She then, forcefully grabbed his chin and pressed her lips to his cutting off his snarl. He responded eagerly already lost to instinct. His hand left her shoulder to cup her chin. When they seperated briefly to gasp in air, he licked against the open wound his venom sealing it shut, before returning to kiss her. But, she stopped him by placing a finger to his lips.
Jasper blinked, regaining his senses. Panic flashed across his face for a brief moment before Bar gently rubbed a comforting hand over his jaw.
"Help me up?"She asked gently and he complied, picking her up easily in bridal fashion before setting her down on the bed. He seemed to be at a loss.
"You southern gents certainly know how to knock a lady off her feet" Bar remarked trying to draw a smile, succeeding she winked.
"I'm so-" He began but, Bar cut him off.
"If thats an apology you can shove it up where the sun don't shine. You've done nothing wrong. Now be a gem and put the kettle on." She said easily, Jasper nodded and did as she bade. As it boiled he came to sit with his back against the bed.
"Thank you." He murmured. "I haven't felt this good since..." He trailed off, getting up to pour some tea.
"Since?" Bar replied, taking the steaming mug off him with a small thankyou.
"The southern vampire wars" Bar nodded and took a sip.
"What was it like?" She asked curiously, moving to sit more comfortably.
"It was.. Intense. After Maria changed me an' trained me to fight she started to get others to bolster her ranks. With my gift I allowed her to keep far more newborns in line than before. We fought all the time, for hunting rights, against revenge attempts. We lost numbers but, me an maria kept goin'. It was exhilarating, blood and venom all the time. After a while though, I started to wonder about whether it was right to be enjoyin' it like I did. That coupled with Maria acting oddly an' my persuasive friend led to me leaving that army. I wandered around for a time before I met alice." Jasper explained nostalgically. He turned to catch Bar's gaze.
"Whats your story, if you don' mind me askin'"
" Ever the gentleman. Well, where to begin. I have no clue of my origin or my true name. I came to be a great many moons ago and stayed primarily as a hound, hunting people and animal alike though, it soon became clear which prey was more fun. I gained acclaim as a fearsome beast. Superstitions arose and Barghest was born, that name became my own and as I lived both as a human and hound I sought to add to my legend. After a time, I grew restless and traveled to see the ever quickly changing human world. I took my legend with me, I'm quite proud that I'm responsible for every legend of hell hounds world wide. While travelling, I saved Elizah and indebted to me we travelled together. Elizah spoke of a coven of vegatarian vampires so, we moved here." Bar recalled, sipping more of her tea.
"If only you were there when a lone howl was all it took to make the streets deserted, windows shackled shut and lamps lit low. The moon illuminating the streets and heavy footfalls sent children crying to their mothers. When the news of a new traveller would spread like wildfire and depending how he treated the women depemded whether he lived or died. Any cruel soul was locled out into a snickleway for the Barghest to devour." Bar spoke in a bittersweet voice, it was times like this when she sounded nostalgic.
"Sounds wonderful." Jasper replied sarcastically. Bar glared half heartedly at him before sighing.
"You vampires don't know what its like, you have always been in hiding from humans." She stated, finishing off her beverage in one gulp.
"You should come with me next time." Bar said, standing up and walking into the kitchen area to wash up her cup.
"I'll take you up on that." Jasper replied, Bar smiled in response. She placed the cup on the washboard and went to sit next to him.
"Nice to see you've stopped running." She commented. Jasper raised an eyebrow.
"Runnin'?" He echoed. Bar nodded.
"From what?" Bar looked at him incredulously.
"From yourself, who you are, your nature. Don't deny it. I wouldn't minded if it hadn't have been killing you."She told him.
"Why d'you care if it was?"He asked softly looking up at the dust motes over head.
"Why did you go to kiss me?" She countered.
They sat in a compatible silence, both of them knowing the answer and being unable to voice it.
Sunlight began to stream through the window, catching Jasper off guard. He didn't want to leave, not after what had passed between them. His fascination with Bar had not diminished at all, in fact it had only increased. He didn't want to return to a house of people who would look down on him and become dissapointed if he told them what had happened. No, he wanted to stay here where he had a sense of camaraderie. He didn't want to impose on her either.
"Oh for fucks sake, you're thinking too loud." Bar complained, pulling the duvet off the bed to wrap around them. Effectively making Jasper's decision for him.
"My apologies, Edward." He snarked. She glared ferociously for all of three seconds.
"Oh no, you did not just say that." She all but laughed. Jasper nodded somberly.
"I did." He replied seriously.
Bar leaped at him with a feirce battle cry but, Jasper was prepared and fended her off. They ended up wrestling on the floor laughing and smiling like two loons. "Parle" Jasper called after he was thrown onto his back again. Bar just smirked wickedly and bit her thumb. Jasper fake gasped.
"You did not bite your thumb at me sir." He cried out in fake horror.
"I did bite my thumb at you sir." She replied mimickig Jaspers tone from earlier.
This resulted in more laughter and a renewed scuffle on the floor. Soon enough they lay panting on the floor, tangled in the quilt, with big grins and sporadic fits of laughter.
From the wall, the clock chimed six times informing the two occupants of the cabin to the time. Bar groaned.
"Fuck, what day is it?" She asked, sitting up. Jasper grinned despite himself.
"Friday unfortunately." He answered, beginning to disentangle himself from the quilt. Bar sighed as only a condemned woman could.
"Fuckin' hell. Be a gent and drive me to school?" She pouted, turning to look at him. He grinned and nodded. She smiled back and now free of the quilt went to get ready. "We need to do this again." She called from the bathroom as Jasper set about making the bed. "Do what?" He said, straightening up to try to decrease his shirt. "The stay up over." Bar replied as if it was the most obvious thig in the world.
"T he stay up over?" He repeated grinning. Bar huffed at his amusement coming out of the bathroom having changed. She now wore some black jeans, a black shirt and black docs on her feet.
"I can't say sleep over as you can't sleep, can you?" She said, grabbing her keys and phone from the table.
"Sure, blame me not your own lack of creativity." He teased, she rolled her eyes in response.
"C'mon we need to go now if we're gonna stop at yours." She remarked, turning of the electricals before leadig him towards the door and grabbing a black jacket.
"Mine?" He questioned confused. She sighed, as if he was a small child that asked a particularly stupid question.
"Yes, yours unless you'd like to drive me to school in the clothes you wore yesterday...?" She explained slowly, waiting for him to catch on. When he did he simply threw her an abashed look and a muffled comment she didn't quite catch.
"I assume you ran here yesterday?" At his nod she continued. "Then, race you to yours. Loser drives." She called before headig off at a sprint down the beaten path. Jasper smiled and ran after her.
Life was looking up.
