A/N: I don't think I will ever know if I can even get to the part I want to write about. But I guess there's always one point when I feel like writing a bit more. My shipping for AEON recently just went up again for no good reason. So here's an update. :P

Regardless, I hope you enjoy reading the chapters.

CHAPTER 11

Leon fishes out a smart device and began tapping vigorously on the keys before finishing off with a triumphant smirk.

"What are you up to?" Ada comments as if she had been amused by his actions. Leon had always been interesting to watch and he thinks of ways she'd never dream of in order to come this far in life. For example using a rubbish chute as a form of exit instead of utilizing orthodox ways to avoid combat.

"Oh you'll see soon enough Ada. Just lay low and enjoy the show."

Ada smiled and shook her head lightly, half glad that Leon was here to help her out of her situation. 'I sure hope Ian is fine doing alone.' She thought silently while managing to remain calm and wait for events to unfold next according to Leon's plan.

"Here it is…" Leon whispered and looked upwards. She looked the same direction and saw winged drones flying towards the enemies who in turn became alarmed when they noticed them.

"Nice. You got us distractions. I am actually impressed"

The flying drones successfully caused a frenzy amongst the eight agents who were desperately spraying bullets at them.

"Now let's get out of here. Those drones should take care of them."

He looked at her for respond before beginning sprinting in the direction of their means to escape. It wasn't very long till they both reach the car which was stopped inconspicuously under a huge tree and mildly covered up by the surrounding bushes.

"Oh thank god! Ian…" Ada heaved a sigh of relief upon reuniting with her son who was visible through the car windows.

Leon pulled open the car door and signaled for Ada to get in. She joined Ian at the back seats while the man hastily got down to starting the car and driving them off to safety.

Ada knew Leon was not going to let her off for running away and leaving her son with him. She had felt him taking glances at her via the rear-view mirror. He had questions for her that she probably would rather not entertain, and avoiding eye-contact was her temporary strategy for storing them. Then again, not talking wasn't an option. If the pesky organization was going to be over their shoulders; namely hers and Ian's, she had to somehow get rid of them. And it would be necessary that Ian is in safe hands. You're the guy for it Leon…He is your son.

She took Ian's small hands into hers, secretly wishing to never have to let go. My precious Ian, you are my life's joy and hope. My days are motivated by your very existence and the being able to see you grow older by every waking moment of my time. Why is it that I cannot even have this little luxury of leading a quiet life with you forever?

"Are you taking us back to your place?" She finally broke silence, but her eyes remained fixated on Ian's hands.

"I want to know what you were planning on doing Ada," Leon took another glance at her through the mirror before putting his eyes on the road again. "…Why did you leave Ian behind with me? Tell me the truth."

"You know me Leon. I don't like to be accountable to anyone for my actions. Still… I'm glad you asked."

"Five years ago, the man I assassinated created an organization and funded for a project related to bio-weapons. I think you should remember that. It was supposed to create a new method to manipulate monsters minus the undesirable effects that would eventually consume the controller physically and mentally." Ada explained.

"You're referring to the Project Mecsus?"

"Yes. You're catching on quite quickly. The catch is to find a person with the right gene that is able to accommodate the Z-virus so he may take the role of the master of the B. which are supposedly created via similar means."

"Okay… " He replied and wondered to himself if Barbara had ever caught wind of the illegal testing. She's too clueless.

"I was infected by the virus during the course of my mission and I survived it. Up till now, I showed no signs of any effects or symptoms. So it can be presumed that the virus had remained dormant in my body. Unfortunately, this virus had also infected Ian. And he has the attributes of the Z-virus effect." She stopped awhile, taking the time to caress little Ian's palm which would have had a scar without the healing attribute granted by the very virus she was talking about.

Leon was slightly taken aback by the news. How could such an innocent child become a victim of something so malevolent? "He's infected? So is he at risk of turning? Isn't there a cure or something?"

"We're way over that Leon. Previously, the sample I took was for the purpose of examination so we could understand it and possibly create a vaccine to put the virus at bay. When I lost the sample, the organization had intentions to use Ian and I as their subjects. I knew all too well what happens to lab rats. So I did what I had to…" She slowly trailed off before continuing her story. "The organization has reasons to believe that Ian may hold the key to unlocking the potential use of the virus, so they have been hunting us down ever since I broke free. I understand that Z-virus case was never brought to a closure, so there is every possibility that a development will happen. When that time comes, the very existence of a successful human carrier is a threat to the organization I used to work for as well as for the world."

"Alright… I get your point. But it still doesn't explain why you would just take off without us." Leon claimed in exasperation. He doesn't understand the difficulty with getting this woman to open up and share her thoughts with him since forever.

Ada could sense his slight frustration with her. It's not something she wasn't familiar with. But she figured that it way to troublesome to deal with him if she had told him exactly what she was planning on doing. She knew he was trouble since the first time she fell in love with him back in Raccoon City. Ever since then, she avoided sharing too much with Leon whenever their paths crossed and eliminated the risk of being drawn into his persuasion. Of course, everything came crashing down one faithful day five years ago… Ada Wong lost everything she so painstakingly fought for in exchange for the hope to finally be together with Leon – A dream that was shattered none other by the man she had hoped to be with.

"When somebody wants us dead, it means business with me Leon. And as an old friend, you wouldn't mind keeping an eye on my little one would you?" Ada said as she smiles at Ian's plush toy playing manner. One moment he was squishing the duck's head, another moment he would be hugging it dearly and the next, he would wave it like it was flying. "Take it as charity" She continued.

"No." It came across as abruptly as it is firm. She really didn't expect him to out rightly reject her. What is wrong with him? She thought as she arched her brows.

"Whatever it is I think that you're going to do, I can't allow it and I'm not letting you having it your way. If you ever decide to do as you please, I'm putting Ian into government custody on account of him being infected with a foreign and potentially dangerous virus. That is that."

"You're not serious…" she looked at him with the controlling the urge to slam his face onto the steering wheel. "Please do not tell me you trust them despite all their dirty secrets."

"Stop the car" She demanded, but saw that he had no intention to. "Stop it." She repeated again, only this time, she had pointed her gun at him to which he noticed and abruptly came to a stop which jerked everyone forward.

She exited the vehicle along with Ian in her left arm feeling almost ashamed by her actions which seemed rather immature. But to have Leon suggesting to simply leave Ian with the government pissed her off, not to mention, she felt disregarded. Did he think it was that easy to care for Ian?

"Are you planning to walk out to nowhere now?" Leon followed after her. "Ada! Would you for once just let me in so we could work things out together?! Do you know what it is like to work around something that keeps you guessing and with no good reason simply vanishes!? That is you, Ada! THAT IS YOU." He pause for a bit panting.

"For years, there's this pressing question! And I keep asking myself 'why did you betray our promise'? Did you really wanted for us to be together? Or was getting close to me part of your scheme to get your hands on the sample? I tried to convince myself that no matter what it was, something real existed! It can't be all a lie! But NOBODY! Nobody can give me an affirmative answer. You were gone!"

She never looked at him as he let it all out. She felt her nose congested with her emotions being responsible for it, but she wasn't going to cry just yet.

"When I thought you died, I spent months listening to your voice on the voicemail hoping I could get answers out of it because that was how little that was left of you! You made me an idiot who is forever robbed of a huge part of him. It's not Okay Ada! It's not okay for you to appear in my life again, treat me with animosity and then throw me a kid I just met a few days ago who you claim to be 'not mine'. Then you conveniently disappear again."

Leon walked over and stole Ian away from his mother quite easily as Ian did not struggle nor reject this. "You are not going anywhere until this is all over!" He said as he turned his back and proceeded to put Ian back into the car, leaving Ada slightly psyched-out. As soon as he placed her son inside, she hurled her gun at him and hit him hard on his left shoulder blade.

"Ouch!" he cried out as he applied pressure on the spot she hit him. "Ada!?" He turned his attention back to her in annoyance.

"I could have shot you!" she exclaimed pressing an index finger against her chest repeatedly before pointing at him. "Don't blame your incapability to trust on me."

"Shouldn't you be leading a wonderful and peaceful life after you launched a rocket at me? You made your call and decided that it wasn't important to hear from me anymore." He found resentment in her voice. And it was only part of what he was looking for. Traces of her feelings were the only factor driving him to believe in her sincerity. But Ada had never been clear with what she wanted with him in words he would die to hear.

"I will never forgive you Leon."

"It wasn't me." He stated flatly. "I couldn't do it." He took another pause again. "I loved you. Even if you ran away on me, I would protect you as far as I can just to see you safe. How could you think that I did that?"

He looked at her solemnly not finding anymore words to say. It was this moment he felt the forest breeze gently lightened the air around them. Perhaps its interference could stop them both from dispute of the past…or better yet, carry the resentment away with it. Please don't say anymore Ada…He silently pleaded.

Maybe it didn't matter that much anymore after five years. She couldn't decide if she had to win. Her misery was built on the belief that he would not only wanted to turn her in, but had also bear to put her down when his duty dictates so. And after all these years, he tells her that it wasn't him. Then what was all that tears and sleepless nights for? Yet it was just a simple statement that shouldn't override the image of Leon being the only agent holding the rocket launcher. I should have known, things isn't what it always seems like. I resented you for not having faith in me, yet I fail to see that I was no different.

"Ada please. Get in the car. Then we will decide what's best." Leon bent down to pick up the gun and walked towards her. He then lifted up the gun invitingly for her to take it back. "For Ian"

Realizing that complying was the best for her, she accepted. Leaving was never my intention anyway. You're just making things easier.

The duo proceeded back to the car with Ada behaving like they were a pair of estranged couple.

As Leon got the car moving for the second time, Ada rested her elbow on the ledge of car window facing the outside. Her lower face was buried in her palm to contain any sniffing sounds from getting too emotional. She thought of the days she spent struggling alone with her unborn baby and the symptoms of being sick, to the time where she was trying to take care of an infant without anyone's help or advice. Eventually came the heartbreaking moment when she was told by doctors that Ian was an Autistic child. She came a really long way dealing with the tantrums Ian would throw out of the blue. Feeding him was no simple fit either because there are only certain kinds of food Ian would take and it has to be in a certain way. And after all that she has done for him, he would still not speak to her or even call her 'mom'. Would it have been any more different if Leon had been with me?

A/N: I am still working on reconstructing the earlier chapters and chapter 12. Hopefully I get them posted up ASAP.

Thank you for dropping by guys! Have a nice day! And good luck with digging out awesome fanfictions to read!

I had just recently wanted to 'cry reading 'Timeless'', an AdaxLeon fanfic by Ada Adore. Only to find everything GONE! T^T She has taken all her stories down! I don't know why and what happened... but I was hoping someone has decided to buy the rights to use her story, so we can see it on the media again one day. (Although it would be rather traumatizing to have the main characters killed off at the end) But whatever, the story beats CAPCOM's beating around the bush with the two characters at their given age. They might as well die together as lovers than have Leon still pining for Ada at age 60.
