Update: Just a bit of fixing and stuff with the story and more stuff at the end of the chapter.

WARNING - Sadness, cussing, and cliffhangers. Read at your own risk.

Elsa was in and out of consciousness for a long time. She heard shouting from a woman, "YOU JACK ASS, GO FASTER! YOU HAVE A FUCKING SIREN!"

"Ma'am-"

"LOOK AT ALL THE BLOOD!" She sounded panicked, scared. Was she taking about her?

"Ma'am, we're going as fast as we-" It changed to beeps and the shuffling of feet, doors opening and closing rapidly. She heard medical terms here and there, but she had no idea what was going on. Then it was just quiet. A beep repeated in the room she was in. She slowly opened her eyes and was welcomed to the color white and the smell of lemon scented cleaner.

She tried to think of where she was, but her head hurt too much. It throbbed, and other parts of her body ached. She tried to move her left arm, but pain shot through the limb instead and she let out a groggy curse. Her throat burned as well. She slowly moved her head, no matter how much it hurt to do such a thing. She was just about to yell to see if anyone was here, but a nurse came into the room. A hospital? Is that where she was? What did she do to get here?

The nurse had come in with her medication and a glass of water. "Ah, you're awake." The nurse gave her a kind smile, and said he would notify the doctor. First the nurse helped Elsa with her pills and made sure she drank all the water.

"Th-Thank you..." Elsa whispered, throat not on fire anymore.

"It's my job, Miss Wu." He said, the smile still on his face. Then he left the room to notify the doctor of the young woman's consciousness.

"... Who's Miss Wu?" She whispered when the nurse had left. "... That's me... Right?" She wished she knew for sure.

A month previously, Aliana called the mansion from the hospital's waiting room. She paced back and forth as the ring pierced her right ear. "Come on, come on. Answer the damn phone." She hissed under her breath.

'I'm sorry but the number you dialed-'

"FUCKING HELL!" She quickly ended the call and tried again. This was going on for twenty minutes now. The other waiters in the room were starting to get frightened, but they understood her frustration. Her explosive and scary frustration. The same result happened for about a few minutes until someone finally picked up the damn phone.

"Hello?" It was the timid voice of Raivis, he didn't know if he was even allowed to pick up the phone. (Which he was.) The same number seemed to keep calling, and he thought hesitation was enough so bravely (hesitantly) he picked it up.

"RAIVIS!" Aliana yelled into her phone, angry with how long it took to get in touch with the house. "OH MY GOD THAT TOOK FOR FUCKING EVER."

Raivis cowered away from the phone a bit when she started to yell at him, he thought he did something wrong. "Sorry..."

"You know what, fuck it, I can trust you to carry the message to the others, right? Don't answer, I need to tell you quick. Your mom is in the hospital. I think she's still in surgery, but the goddamn doctor won't let me have any info on her condition until I can prove I have permission."

He wanted to cry hearing hospital. "... What happened to māmiņa...?" He asked weakly, he was only ten. He didn't need to feel all these sad emotions all over again. He was worried that she had died.

"I wasn't there, but apparently some idiot stopped the escalator when she was on it. She tumbled down a lot of metal stairs, and now here I am. Not sure if she's dead or alive." She was blunt, and had the usual sugarcoat-free attitude. He really wanted her to tell him that she was fine, that nothing was wrong, but he knew that Aliana didn't work that way. "Tell the others to get here as fast as they can. It's the hospital near the mall. I can trust you, right?"

He held in a sob that was threatening to make his sadness known. "...Y-Yes, Ms. S-Santiago..." Both hung up at the same time.

Raivis ran to the living room, tears threatened to spill onto his face. But he needed to get to the others before he could let them out. If he didn't, he wouldn't be able to talk. Once he made it to the familiar wood doors, he slammed them open, breathing heavily with tears in his eyes. Everyone was there, preparing the room for the two women's surprise party, but then their attention went towards the fourth of the youngest children. "M-Mā... miņa... Māmiņa is i-in... Māmiņa is in the hospital." He had delivered the message before bursting into the tears he tried hard to suppress.

The once lively room was now silent, Eliza had went up to the crying boy and hugged him, cooing sweet nothings in his ear as his tears stained her left shoulder. The word 'hospital' reminded all the adopted children of their own personal experience with them, they all wanted to cry like Raivis. They started asking the crying boy panicked questions.

"What hospital?"

"How did she get there?"

"Who's the fucker that got her there?"

"Is she ok?" So many questions, and he struggled to try and answer them in his quick bursts of air.

"Near... M-Mall, ho-ospita-al. A-A-And... I-I d-d-on't kn-kn-know." From then he cried freely, and the others hurriedly got ready to get to the building that always smelled like cleaner and the tainted scent of death.

The ride there was solemn. The worry and fear making it so. The usual quarreling teens and children looked at the adults, hoping for any encouragement. Franny smiled at them, it was a bit forced, but she was going to try her hardest to do what Elsa and Aliana did best, lighten the mood. "Elsa, she is a strong girl. Once she fell out of her dorm room window, and she survived-" A text ding interrupted her sentence.

Francine took out her phone confused, it was from Aliana.

'Yo, okay. First off, Elsa fell out on a dare, we were all drunk, and Alistair caught her plus we were on like, the second floor. Second, yes, I hacked your phone. I know a guy. Third, hurry your asses up!'

Francine sighed, "Seriously? Your timing couldn't be-"

Another text ding. 'The feeling is mutual sweetheart, I need your asses here, ASAP.'

Francine sighed. "We're in traffic-" Then like a little miracle police sirens appeared near them. A text dinged yet again.

'I'm a police officer, remember? I got your backs.' Francine's eyes widened as she looked out the window to see a path just for them, she smiled and popped her head back in. She must really care for Elsa.

"Alistair, those police men were sent by Aliana. Just keep driving."

With slight reckless driving, and about three cop cars assisting them (Aliana's colleagues that volunteered to help), the family had made it to their destination. They had all rushed out of the car and into the hospital, yelling thanks to the police men that escorted them before they went inside to met with the Latina, who scoffed when she saw them, annoyed, "Took you fuckers long enough."

"Well excuse LA traffic, Dragon Dildo." Lovino said, equally annoyed.

"A Five Nights at Fuckboy's reference? Where the fuck are you getting this-"

"FUCK THAT RIGHT NOW!" Dmitri yelled at the two, being completely out of character. Shocking everyone.

Aliana was quicker to recover and react than the others. "You need to calm down motherfucker," She reaches into her purse taking out a Monster can, shaking slightly from a caffeine rush, "here, have a Monster, it will help you feel better."

Dmitri glared at Aliana. "Shut up, we all know you're gay." He was stressed from all the bullshit that was happening at this very moment. They were supposed to be one big happy family, and like movies, live in happiness and rainbows and sunshine. Not this shit. Not again. Not ever.

Aliana opened the monster he declined then had a long swig of the stuff. She drank monster when she was sad, and she drank the stuff often. But this event was the equivalent of almost a while pack. She gave him a sad smile, an extremely shaky hand on his shoulder. Caffeine, and lots of it, were coursing though her veins. "You're half right."

Thank God a nurse walked over to Aliana, prepared to tell her of the news as she finally got clearance from the doctors. "E-Excuse me, uh..." She watched the young woman twitch uncontrollably for a second. "Miss, are you okay?" She asked solicitously.

Aliana nodded towards the nurse, eyes wide with a hint of insanity. "Of course I'm fine!" She twitched again. "Why would you ask? I'm not insane!" She exclaimed with a large smile. Before the nurse could be scared more by the caffeinated Latino, Eliza took her outside while Francine looked to the nurse who watched the two women walk out of the hospital with concern on her face.

"Trust me, Mademoiselle. She'll be fine." The nurse trusted her, as she assumed this French woman knew the other woman very well. "Now, did you walk over to tell her something about Elsa?"

The nurse nodded quickly and scurried through a few quick notes she took before she left the room to go to Aliana. She was a forgetful woman, as well as pretty new to the nursing world. "She's in surgery right now and it seems that Miss Wu is suffering from bad, almost fatal, injuries, but she'll live." There was an audible sigh of relief that passed through all the children and two adults that accompanied them. "However," that was short lived, "it looks like she took a nasty amount of head trauma from that fall she took down the escalator. We won't know the effects of that until she's out of surgery and wakes up."

Little Feliciano looked at the nurse lady, "What do you mean by, 'wakes up'?" He asked suspiciously, but also a bit teary hoping it wasn't what he thought that meant.

The older and taller children glared at the poor nurse, what wasn't she telling them? The nurse cowered slightly. "She... Uh... She... Will have a high possibility of developing a coma after the surgery..." This is the point where Eliza thought it was safe for Aliana to return to the group and so she did, at a really bad time.

Coma. Grandpa Remus died by cardiac arrest that developed during his never ending coma. Feliciano walked over to Monicka and hugged her, silently sobbing into her stomach. The blonde awkwardly rubbed soothing circles onto his back, trying to comfort him with German words and her awkward attempts at comforting. Too many bad memories. As they stayed in the waiting room, Francine told Aliana and Eliza what was going on, while the children tried to calm down Feliciano as well as each other's inner negative thoughts. It was like this for a while until a doctor, a young Asian male with dark brown hair tied back in a ponytail, and a thick Chinese accent, notified them that they could quickly visit Elsa, as she was out of surgery and now in a hospital bed. The large group stood up and walked over to the hospital room with the doctor, Dr Wang, leading the way. The familiar white halls, white doors, and lemon cleaner could have extended for miles and miles on end, and it made the children want to gag. Once they made it to the door, and was able to walk in they saw a mass of bandages and the dreaded steady beep of the heart monitor. The only sign that is was Elsa was in the bed was the name plate on the door. Alistair looked on the heartbreaking scene with his teeth subconsciously grinding, he should have been there with her. He should have went with the two girls to protect her. Now he couldn't do anything as he watched her barely breathed through an oxygen mask.

Everyone wanted to believe it was a dream. They really did. But hospitals just weren't a place that they knew they would dream about something as cruel as this. Please, just let this nightmare be over soon...

Flash forward a month to the present. The family of eighteen children and four adults had been visiting the hospital, almost every day, hoping for the young woman to get out of the coma she received. All without a sliver of hope. But today, in May, was when they received the news they've been waiting for. The first to be called was her emergency contact number, Francine. The blonde was in the middle of making lunch for her and maybe Alistair, if she was feeling nice, when she was interrupted by her cellphone ringing. She sighed, grabbing the phone and answering it, not even bothering with the caller I.D. "Bon après-midoi, this is Francine Bonnefoy speaking, how may I help you?"

"Hello Miss Bonnefoy, this is Stephanie Lancaster calling from St. Vincent Hospital on behalf of Dr Yao Wang. It seems that Miss Wu has woken up from her month long coma." Francine almost dropped her phone into the salad dressing she was making, her heart pounded in her chest.

"A-Are you sure? This isn't some joke by the Norman family down the street again, is it?'

"No, I assure you, this isn't a cruel prank. Elsa just woke up a few hours ago, her body is still somewhat in a state of repair, but for the most part she's doing pretty well. She'll be sent home in a week or so," Francine was about to cry out with joy until she was interrupted by Stephanie, "but with all this good news, there's a bit of bad news."

Francine swallowed a lump of saliva and nerves down her throat before clearing it, "Go on."

"Miss Wu seems to be suffering from amnesia, and she can't remember anything from before the accident. Dr Wang is unsure if she'll recognize anyone she's met before or is presented to, as well as if she will ever recover all of her memories."

Francine's eyes widened. 'Amnesia' the famous plot device in movies, books, and fan fictions alike was happening to her best friend. "I-Is that so..." Elsa was already a forgetful woman anyhow, but at least she could remember people's faces and particular smells, sometimes she recalled events that have no significance until she mentions them. But to imagine she knows absolutely nothing... Well, that was a hard thing to muster her imagination to do.

"Yes, Dr Wang would like all of you to visit either later this evening or tomorrow to assess how much Miss Wu remembers and discuss what will happen when she is released."

"I," Francine cleared her throat again, "I understand, I'll notify the others when I have a chance. Merci beaucoup for taking the time to update me. Au revoir, Ms Lancaster." Stephanie thanked her as well, and both of them hung up and ended the two's one and only encounter with each other. The French woman set the phone down, her breath shaky and a sad grin on her face. "I wonder how the others are going to feel about this..." She whispered, almost at the verge of tears.

Alistair's flashback was interrupted by 'Canadian Please', a ringtone he knew he didn't own, nor have any knowledge of setting, blasting from his phone. The red head finished his shower quickly, but not quick enough to answer the phone. So with only a towel on his waist he walked over to his desk and looked at the missed call's caller I.D. It was labeled "Madeline~" with the pancakes and maple syrup photoshopped onto the Canadian flag as the profile pic. He looked at all of this in confusion. "What?" He never asked for her number, and his phone was in his room the whole time. How did she..? He called her back, thoroughly confused.

'Hello?' A familiar voice answered the phone. 'Who is this?'

"This is Alistair."

'Oh, that explains the cigarettes and whiskey photoshopped onto the Scottish flag as the profile picture. As well as a very.. interesting part of the Stereotypes Song as the ringtone.'

Alistair raised an eyebrow, even though he knew that she couldn't see him. "Stereotypes Song? What part, and how did you not know it was me?"

He heard the Canadian cough on the other end, a bit uncomfortable. 'Uh... The name is... is... F-Fag Addict, and it's.. um.. when.. the song repeats..' Then he heard Frayja obnoxiously start singing.

'I LOVE SCOTSMEN ALTHOUGH THEY HUMP SHEEP! I LOVE SCOTSMEN ALTHOUGH THEY HUMP SHEEP!' Repeating over and over again. Alistair's cheeks burned with a twinge of anger.

The Canadian laughed nervously. 'Ye-Yeah... that part... Well.. um.. Rika's ears are being covered by Kristina, and Lukas seems to be taking care of it now, so I'm going to go and help. So.. bye!' She quickly hung up, leaving an angry yet still confused Alistair to deal with his emotions later.

Ah yes. The famous amnesia trope. I honestly couldn't resist.

I'm so sorry I'm late yet again! It's basically all of the other reasons I've mentioned previously for not finishing sooner, as well as my laptop having to be sent out to be fixed right after we supposedly 'fixed' it. But here it is! whoop, whoop! Now.. to do my homework...

Here's some stuff that I want you guys to know (some you might know already, but I'm saying it just in case you don't) :

1. Grandpa Rome's name is Remus rather than Romulus because I liked the variation of the story of the creation of Rome where when the twins, Romulus and Remus, fight to see who would become king of the new city and Remus kills Romulus. After he kills him, he feels terrible and names the city after his dead brother as in a way to ease his guilt and honor his brother.

2. A fag is the British equivalent of a cigarette

3. Finally, yes. A My Favorite Martian reference, as well as Five Nights at Fuckboy's reference. Why? Because. I can. I'm the author.

Also new person!

Dr Yao Wang - China

I might start shipping people for the hell of it... Except for the only established ship. You know... Scotland x OC... That's gotten complicated. *Grins evilly*
