Turn for the Worse

*Unfortunately, I do not own Inuyasha and Company. Rumiko Takahashi does. (Except Koneko, she's mine.)

*It's late, I'm at a relative's house, and I have no internet. What do I do? Sleep? Nah! I write and slave over this. Enjoy the fruits of my labor.

Koneko opened her eyes and jumped when she realized she was not in her room. It took a second for her to remember she was staying at the Taisho house, despite having stayed there for a few days now. She glanced at her clock and cursed the fact she had woken up ten minutes before her alarm rang. Instead of getting up, Koneko laid there and contemplated things.

The first day had been a lot of fun for the most part. They had spent most of the morning relaxing and playing video games at the house. Satomi was patient enough to answer any and all questions Koneko came up with; whether it was about her family or demons in general.

After lunch (made by Satomi who was an excellent cook), Sesshoumaru took Koneko on a tour of the grounds. He showed her the stables where they had a two-headed dragon dubbed Ah-Un. Ah was the left head. He tended to be more adventurous of the two. Un, the right head, was gentler and more concerned about eating than anything else. They both were cautious at Koneko's approach, but warmed up to her after being fed their favorite treat. There was also a lesser Neko demon, Kirara, who didn't have a human form and a lesser Kata demon, Entei. All of them could be hidden as horses if humans came by.

It was during dinner that things turned for the worse. Satomi wanted to take them all out to dinner. Although Koneko still somehow was able to completely disguise her scent, Inuyasha was still identifiable as a half-demon. Demons, sensing his approach, would go as far as to cross the street to avoid him. Others, the more cruel ones, got closer to see if they could harm him in some way; however, he was guarded fiercely by him family and Koneko.

When they got to the restaurant, their waitress happened to be a demon and outright refused to serve them. It took twenty minutes for a new waitress to be found that would serve them.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of their troubles. The original waitress, who had gotten fired for her actions, had managed to get her hands on their food. It was due to Sesshoumaru's sense of smell that they found out she spit in it. It took another twenty minutes to get that all sorted out. In the end, they just ended up getting some fast food.

Koneko was horrified at the actions of the demons. Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha had to assure her that not all demons were like that, including her friends: Shippo, Kouga, and Ayame. The rest of the day was typical and filled with homework.

The first day back to school after everything happening was a relief. No one acted any differently that she could see. Even the lunch conversation was normal at first.

"So, Koneko," Sango started. "What was it today?"

She blushed. "Actually, nothing today."

Kagome's head popped up. "Seriously? He just stopped?"

Ayame shrugged. "He could just not have anything today."

Sango was studying Koneko. "Why are you blushing? What aren't you telling us?"

Inuyasha chose to pipe in with his mouth full at that moment. "She knows who it is."

"What!" Multiple shocked pairs of eyes turned to her.

Sesshoumaru decided to help her and get it over with. "It was me," he admitted. The eyes traveled to him, and he nodded. "I left the poems and flower for Koneko. I revealed this to her over the weekend."

Kagome was the first to snap out of the shock-induced trance. "That is so sweet! You two would make a cute couple." Koneko was the only one to see the almost longing glance she sent Inuyasha while she said this. 'Interesting,' she thought.

Koneko smiled. "Yeah, this weekend was filled with surprises." It didn't take long for her friends to drag every detail out of her. Or, at least from the story they had decided on in advance.

Apparently, it didn't take long for Naraku to hear the story. Every time she would pass him, he gave her a strange glance. Whenever he passed Sesshoumaru, he glared. After the second day, he stopped. This caused Koneko to worry that he was planning something. She didn't think he would give up this easily.

Sesshoumaru had revealed that the story had in fact spread through the entire school. He had gotten several suggestive comments from demons about being with her. Several female demons had tried to seduce him, though he refused all of them. Despite being happy about her and Sesshoumaru, Koneko had a sneaking suspicion that things were going to turn for the worse.

As she tried to push the feeling away, her alarm rang, startling her. She sighed before turning it off and getting dressed. The feeling just wouldn't go away though…

Naraku arrived at the school earlier than he usually does. He had been furious to hear that Koneko (HIS Koneko) was being courted by that old demon. He couldn't accept that. So it was time to plan…

And such a brilliant plan it was.

It took maybe five minutes to find the wind witch and another five to get her alone. Kagura looked at the demon with disdain. He had been humiliated by the human Koneko. Many had stopped associating with him. Including herself. She took a quick glance around before she risked speaking with him. "What do you want, Naraku?"

He grinned. "I need your help with something."

She snorted. "Why should I help you?"

"Because I can offer you something you want."

This got her attention, but she hid it well. "What could you have that I want?" she asked.

"A way to get Sesshoumaru at least once."

Again she snorted. "He's sexy and all, but why would I want him that badly?"

Naraku hid his own smirk. Hook, line, and sinker… "Perhaps because he is royalty."

Her head jerked up. "Royalty?"

He nodded. "He is in the legend."

Kagura thought for a moment, tapping the fan she was never seen without against her chin. Being with royalty even once would raise her reputation considerably. And if she was really lucky, he would keep coming back. She could sink her hooks into him easily…

"Very well," she agreed. "What do I need to do?"

The half-demon smirked. 'Soon Koneko, very soon. You will be returning to me willingly.'

*Kata means horse

*Sorry it's a little shorter than usual. I just really wanted to stop there.
