I've been looking over my old drafts lately, and decided to toss a few up here since they probably won't be completed anytime soon... Sometimes I wish I was less of a perfectionist so things would actually get done faster. OTL
Anyway! Timetravel idea I've had for a while, although I may not be expanding it anytime soon because there's another timetravel idea I'd like to write.
I would also like to try my hand at creating original characters, mainly for practice and to try something new... Would y'all be interested to read something like that? There probably won't be any pairings, except the canon-confirmed ones. It'd be more like a writing exercise than anything else, because there are just too many traps one could fall into while trying to construct characters and integrate them into the existing fictionverse. :x
But I digress. So... here we go, a snippet of my timetravel draft~

When he crashed into a strange yet vaguely familiar part of the forest, he didn't know if he had really succeeded. But then he looked up to the sky, and there it was – a sudden hellish blaze of red and the feel of a certain ominous chakra, not too far in the distance.
'Location was a bit off,' he thought wryly as he closed his eyes and began gathering the chakra... or rather, the mixture of chakra he knew he would need in order to deal with a bijuu, while protecting as many people as possible.
Too many things could go wrong. There was no knowing who he would have to fight against – the fake Madara, the Kyuubi under his control, and perhaps even...
Konoha.
'I'll worry about that later,' he decided. 'For now... everyone, hang in there!'
Just before he vanished in a blaze of gold, a single green leaf landed in his hair – and did not fall off.
Even as he sprinted towards his destination he was startled to feel the addition of a new but not unwelcome energy to his, and it was...
It was something he had felt before.
You asked me to help you help them. The trees leaned to the sides, just enough to let him pass through more easily.
So take this.
He ran faster.
And go.
And so he went, even though it didn't actually make sense for it was... a legend, a myth, a childish hope and a desperate plea that had been miraculously answered in a time that had not yet – and probably never would – come to pass.
If his memory and his chakra senses were correct... his father was probably fighting against that 'Tobi' right then. And Naruto knew that if anybody could break the Sharingan's control over Kurama, as well as defeat an enemy so strong and so difficult it was almost unreal, it would be Yondaime Hokage.
He trusted his father to take care of his village, and his family.
When he was close enough to the source of the chaos – Kurama – he pulled on his hood and mask and formed his favourite hand-seal.
"Tajuu Kage Bunshin!"
By some stroke of luck few had died yet, though many were dangerously close. But, if he could do anything about it, he'd make sure that the night would see as little death as possible.
"Who are you?" the voice was quiet, but cold and sharp like the kunai at his neck.
Naruto tilted his head, the red paint and white porcelain of his mask glinting faintly under wild chakra-light.
Kakashi looked... young. Ridiculously so, in fact, because Naruto was actually taller than him.
"Weren't you locked in a barrier just now?" Naruto asked with a grin he wished the young ANBU could see, because within the last few years some part of his brain had gotten quite a few screws loose and often gave him the mad urge to laugh in a dangerous situation.
(The fact that Kakashi's choice of clothing looked terrible did not help, either.)
"I was," came the deceptively casual reply. "Then you burst right into this place."
"Oh, right," he blinked. "There was that detection barrier thing... You noticed me even through a confinement seal and in this crazy mess? Damn, you've always been – heh." he laughed shortly, still unworried by the blade at his neck. "It's hard catching up to you, Kakashi... sensei." The last few words were lost in Kurama's giant roar, followed by what was undoubtedly going to be a Bijuudama.
And they were directly in its path.
Naruto swore, twisting out of Kakashi's grip, and shielded the boy's body with his own while hurriedly forcing a chakra barrier into place.
'This had better work,' he thought desperately. 'There isn't anyone else in the immediate area but if I let the attack get past this place, a lot of people are going to die.'
The ball of demonic chakra rammed into the barrier, which was not only for defence but also for containment so that Naruto could absorb or negate as much of it as possible.
"If you want to kill me," he managed to whisper into Kakashi's ear through gritted teeth, "Do it later because – guh!"
Because trying to block such an attack without Kurama's help really hurt, dammit, and he wasn't sure if he could hold on for much longer but he must, or else it would surely kill Kakashi and so many others, so he—
The sealing array which appeared out of nowhere almost absorbed them too, but Kakashi recognised his sensei's jutsu and dragged Naruto away.
"Thanks," Naruto panted, taking a moment to catch his breath. "Sorry I don't really have time to explain now but I – I swear I mean Konoha no harm and there's something I must do – people I have to save – and I need to find them before it's too late – "
"Who are you?" Kakashi demanded. Naruto felt his mask slip a little and shoved it back in place, but he feared that the other shinobi had already caught a glimpse of the face underneath.
"Tell me."
He closed his eyes briefly, and as the giant fox suddenly vanished via another Hiraishin-based fuuinjutsu...
"A son," he said, with a bittersweet smile that no one could see. "A son who loves his father and mother too much to let them die for him."
He took advantage of Kakashi's stunned silence to leave, following the trail of his father's signature jutsu and using an immense amount of chakra to force the seals into letting him through, but felt himself grabbed at the last second –
And so they vanished, in a bright flash of yellow.
.
'Location was a bit off, again,' he thought ruefully as they crashed just outside the barrier made of his mother's unique chakra chains.
"Why did you come with me?" he asked, pushing himself off the ground and offering Kakashi a hand.
The reply was short. "I don't know."
Naruto pulled him to his feet with a wry smile. "That was unusually reckless, especially for you."
The silver-haired boy frowned at him, but the previous suspicion in his eyes was already gone. "Who are you? – Fine, answer me later, but you will save them, won't you?"
"I will," he said simply, turning away to reach out a hand towards the barrier. Please let me in. "I must. And I will die for them if I have to."
Please let me in, he coaxed the chakra with his own.
Please.
He slipped through, and flung himself at his golden-haired father just before the last hand-seal of Shiki Fuujin could be completed.
"Don't do this!"
.
"Who are you and what are you after?" Minato demanded, placing himself between the masked shinobi and his wife and child. Naruto winced as chakra chains immediately wrapped around him and held him tightly in place.
"It doesn't matter who I am," he said. The chains tightened, but he did not struggle because his mother looked like she was at death's door and it made him feel terrible. "You won't believe me even if I told you, and it's too long a story – but please." He swallowed. "Please, just... don't die."

May or may not be continued...? /shifty eyes
I think I mainly wrote this to poke at how timetravelling!Naruto would react to a younger Kakashi, also how this very confused Kakashi would react to him. Or at least, how their first meeting would go? XD
