Chapter Nine
"It's been quite a while hasn't it, Elsword?" the Blazing Heart smirked at the shocked Rune Slayer. "And to top it off, what a look alike you got there." She looked at the equally shocked Lord Knight.
"I-It can't b-be…" Rune Slayer stuttered out. His will to fight fading fast.
Before she could answer his question, the bell rang signalling that the fight has begun. But the two red-haired swordsmen were still frozen in shock. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Elesis dashed towards them with blinding speed that they did not even had time to register that she disappeared from her initial spot. Hitting Rune Slayer with the pommel of the sword, he was sent few feet rolling onto the ground.
"Woaah! Did you see that? Our champion, the Flame Queen moves so fast that we can barely see her movements!" The announcer cheered. "It's going to take more than luck for these two boys to take her down."
Dealing with her first opponent in less than five seconds, she moved to Lord Knight. Smiling, she…

The crowd was shocked. A minute merely passed and the two Swordsmen were already knocked down to the ground. Just what is the Flame Queen capable of? They all asked themselves.
"What's the matter? I was expecting a better match since you two made it up to here." She taunted them.
Standing up on wobbly feet, Lord Knight raised and pointed his sword towards her. "I'm not yet finished!" He shouted.
On the other hand, Rune Slayer was on his knees still looking at his opponent in shock. "Where were you? I looked everywhere for you!"
For a brief second, a look of sympathy appeared on the Blazing Heart's face but was quickly replaced by a look of cockiness. "Defeat me and maybe I'll tell you." She smiled at him.

'He placed a Rune there? Just what is he planning?' Elesis thought to herself. Seeing the other Red Knight charging, she knew that he'll use a skill so she jumped above him expecting to land behind the two.
"Hmm…" Lord Knight Elsword smiled.

'He used a skill when no ones in front of him?' Elesis thought as she was suddenly hit by the extended aura of the Knight's Sword. ( I know of that trick. If you use Armor Break, Kick or even Roll, the length of the blade guarantees enemies directly or a short distance behind you causes to get hit. I learned of this from Pandamaare, I got it from his video, 'Lord Knight Combo 5: Reinforce'. )
Elesis then fell onto the Flame Rune that Rune Slayer created. 'So that's why he placed it here to lure me to a trap. The brat's gotten smarter. I gotta hand it to him.' She smiled inwardly.
Quickly turning around, Lord Knight Elsword decided to start the pursuit.

Before Rune Slayer could finish his chanting, something unknown crashed into the middle of the Arena, creating a giant cloud of smoke blinding everyone in the coliseum.
"What's going on?" Lord Knight asked as he coughed through the thick layer of dust.
"Graaaar…" He heard something groan.
"Raaarr…" He heard another.
Suddenly, a scream followed next. The dust soon started to fade as Elsword looked at what fell and saw a boulder on fire.
"What the…" He didn't get to finish his statement as several more appeared from the sky. His eyes widened as he realized what was happening. Looking for his friends, he shouted. "We're under attack! Evacuate everyone!" He shouted to them as the nodded and split up to help the people run.
Dodging falling debris, he saw Rune Slayer knocked out on the sandy floor. He was about to run towards him to bring him to safety when he was taken by Elesis herself. "Go and check what's going on! I'll take care of him!" She said worriedly. For the first time, her eyes were filled with fear and worry and gone was her cocky and rebellious personality.
Nodding in approval, Elsword made his way from the running people and to the direction where the attacks are coming from. Finally making it out of the coliseum, he saw hundreds of demons marching onto Sander. 'How come those Demons came here?' He asked as he recognized those Demons within Feita and Velder. 'There's no way they could have reached here just by themselves.' He cursed.
Another flaming boulder was headed towards him. He was about to slice it in half when it was suddenly blasted away.
"Huh?" He asked confused.
"Now don't think we'll just leave all the fun to you?" Chung said as he twirled his Silver Shooter with his fingers.
"We have evacuated the people and they're calling in the Desert Troopers to aid us." Raven said. "But how did they get here?"He wondered as he unsheathed his sword behind him.
"Let's play again sometime. And by then, you'll be ours…"
"We'll be meeting again soon… really soon…"
Those two sentences rang within Elsword's head. "I think I know how…" He muttered to himself.
"We don't have time to start thinking to ourselves! We have to prevent them from reaching the village!" Raven told them.
"We? We're only four! How do you expect us to hold off against an army like that?" Lord Knight was panicking. It's not that he doubts his friends' skills but with Rune Slayer out and Blazing Heart with him, they're going to have a hard time.
"Four? That's quite cruel of you…" He heard a familiar voice. Turning around, he saw Buck along with his friends. And behind him were the other contestants of the tournament. "Forgetting about us already?
Shocked, he looked at the other guys with determination all over their faces. "We still have to get even after what you and your friend did to us but no one threatens our home…" A contestant said as he gripped his weapon.
"You showed us that giving up are not an option for nearly everything. Don't you think now's not a good time to back out on those words of yours?" He saw Buck smile. A fatherly smile.
'Perhaps not everyone's as bad as we thought they are…' Elsword smiled. "Sorry, I was just caught up in the moment."
"Don't mention it kid! Now, let's kick some major DEMON ASS!" Buck shouted as everyone cheered as they charged towards the large army of Demons.

The demons are starting to surround the four friends. They looked in front of them only to see a flaming boulder falling right their direction.
With no time to escape, the four braced for impact.

Elsword groggily opened his eyes. He lifts his head only to see a horrible sight. His friends lie unconscious on the ground. He saw the other contestants slowly being pushed back by the overwhelming numbers of the demons. Even the desert troopers who just arrived a few moments ago were having a hard time fending off the enemies.
He stood up on his ground but even a soft push could topple off his balance. He looked at the demons and saw that they're only standing. Wondering why were they just idle and not finishing them off, he heard a laugh…
"Ufufufufu…"
His eyes widened. His hunch was right and he was hoping that he was wrong. But unfortunately, the fates were being cruel to him. The demons surrounding him suddenly split up and parted for a passage. At that passage, three very beautiful yet highly dangerous girls walked in.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" the purple-haired dark mage known as Aisha said.
"It appears we have found our intended target." The Nasod Queen known as Eve answered Aisha's question.
"I told you we'll meet again soon." Ara, the half-demon half-human said playfully.
Despite being wounded, Elsword found his strength to stand up. He stood in front of his fallen friends protectively. "I'm not letting you get pass this line." He said determinedly as he stood in front of the coliseum gate along with the survivors of the assault.
After saying that, he shouted.
Shield of Courage
Raising his left arm as high as he can, a bright red aura covered his entire arm and after a few seconds, an aura similar to his Armageddon Blade but in a shield-like form was within his arm.
Armageddon Blade
On his right, his sword too was enveloped in a bright red light gained an aura that increases its range. Charging onto the numerous numbers of demons, he relentlessly slashed and killed all those trying to invade the coliseum to gain access onto the village.
Attacking left, killing right, within a moment, several demons dropped dead onto the ground. But in return, left the Lord Knight panting and tired.
Sighing, Aisha spoke. "It didn't have to come to this. You could've just gone with us…"
"But… since you're too stubborn, perhaps a little persuasion is needed." Ara smiled.
The demons in front of the three backed away as they walked towards the Lord Knight raw power pulsing around them.
'Persuation?' Wondered Elsword. Seeing the three approach him, he impaled his sword onto the ground and gathered all of his energy left onto the Aura of his shield. 'I won't let them pass.'
The three closed their eyes as they chanted at the same time.
"Abyss…" A giant bat appeared in front of the Void Princess and began charging an attack.
"Lunatic…" Giant weapons appeared behind the Code: Nemesis as she chants.
"Energy…" A huge spirit Orb was created above the Yama Raja as she prepares to launch it.
Looking deviously at Elsword, they smiled sadistically as they finished their chanting.
"…ANGKOR!"
"…SCUD!"
"…CANNON!"
Those three attacks impacted the shield with such force that Elsword finds himself being pushed back. Cracks begin to appear on the aura as he struggles to hold it.
'Come on! Just a little longer! I won't lose!' He kept repeating to himself. His clothes were getting tattered, his body getting tired, but he won't give up. He would do what it takes to protect his friends.
Just as those three devastating attacks finished, the aura shattered and Elsword fell onto the ground. On the other hand, Aisha, Eve and Ara were in shock. 'He blocked it?' They all thought. 'Just what is his capability?'
Regaining their composure, they walked towards the fallen knight. "That was unexpected. You actually managed to defend from our attacks though we barely even used much of our powers but you on the other hand…" Eve said as she looks down on him.
His three friends then started to stir. Upon seeing the three standing above the fallen knight, they tried to stand up only to have several demons pointing their weapons at each of them.
Leaning on his elbow, Elsword had barely enough strength to stand up but he managed to. He looked around and saw his friends and those who tried to help him. Making a decision, he looked back at the three. "If I go with you without resistance, would you promise to leave my friends and the people of Sander?" He said seriously.
The three were suddenly taken aback by his sacrifice. They didn't expect him to ask that question. They expected him to be stubborn like his other self. Looking at each other, they smiled as they nodded. "You have our word."
"Elsword, what are you doing?" Chung asked.
He didn't say anything. He just looked at Chung and smiled warmly at him. Knowing his answer despite not saying anything, tears began to fall from the Deadly Chaser's eyes.
Turning back onto the three, he walked towards them as Aisha giddily smiled along with Ara while Eve looked pleased. Aisha then puts an arm onto Elsword's shoulder and in a moment, them along with Elsword and the demons, vanished.
