Change isn't Always Bad
The makeshift Sawada family made their way towards the park where their picnic would take place in a comfortable silence. Well, Tsuna, Nana, and Bianchi were, while Lambo, I-pin and Fuuta danced around the pavement with childish squeals of joy ever now and then.
The three kids ran far ahead as the others walked slowly, when they started to get out of sight Nana started to take action, "Bianchi-chan, would you mind looking after them so they don't get hurt?" The purple haired teen shook her head, "of course not Nana-san," she nodded to them both before rushing of ahead to catch up to the excited children.
They watched her go, disappearing into the distance along with the children as she turned a corner, "what's wrong Tsu-kun?" Nana asked in a gentle but firm voice. Tsuna turned to look at her but she kept her eyes trained forward, when she got no reply she decided to continue, "what did you and Reborn fight about?" The brunette looked away from his mother, staring at the wall that he was standing next to, "I can't tell you."
She finally turned to face him, her face was full of sorrow and understanding, she looked so wise but Tsuna didn't see as he couldn't bear to look at her face, knowing he would break down and tell her everything if he did, so he kept his eyes on the wall. They walked slowly through the streets taking in every aspect of their home, "can't or won't?" she asked looking forward once again.
Tsuna turned to face her and gave a bitter look, "a little of both I guess," she sighed, 'why do you have to be so stubborn sometimes Tsu-kun?' She looked up to the orange setting sky and smiled distantly, 'but I guess that is one of your best features.' Tsuna chanced another look at his mother and saw her vision focused on the sky, he followed it and almost gasped at the beauty of it.
It was a pretty red colour that gradually faded into orange in the distance with hints of purple completing the refreshing look. He wanted to catch it on camera but he knew it was one of those things that just wouldn't look the same on film as it does in real life. "You don't have to tell me all the details, just the basics," his mother's voice brought him out of his trance he moved his head so he was facing her and saw she was staring back at him.
He nodded at her, silently agreeing with her suggestion, "Reborn wants my friends and I to go on a trip, all my friends agreed but I don't want to go," there was a moment of silence before she nodded, "why don't you want to go?" he faced forwards once more and sighed, running a hand through his soft hair, "going would mean that I am agreeing to do something normal people wouldn't do," Nana turned away from the boy and looked up to the sky again, her hands locked together behind her back.
"Would it really be that bad?" she asked cautiously, "yes, it would be! Not to mention the trip is two years long, I can't just leave you here by yourself tha-"
"Tsu-kun." He stopped, he didn't know when but she had stopped walking, he turned around to face her, "it sounds like your just making excuses Tsu-kun," his eyes widened before he shook his head fervently "I'm not! I just don't want to go."
She gave him a calm look before taking a few steps forwards, Tsuna took a few back, scared of what she would make him realize, "why don't you want to go?" He froze and she took a few more steps forward, 'why don't I want to go? Because I don't want to be involved in the mafia, because I don't want to see my friends getting hurt for my sake, because I just want to be normal... right?' Nana took another step forward; there was an arm length space between them.
"B-because, I don't want my life to be different, I... I just want to be normal." His voice trailed off at the end, his resolve wavered, his eyes were glued to the ground and he immediately stiffened when he was brought into a warm embrace. Tsuna relaxed, realizing it was his mother and buried his face into the crook of her shoulder; it had been a long time since he had hugged his mother.
"Listen to me Tsu-kun, no matter what you think, nobody is normal, no one has a normal life, everyone is unique. So when you are given a chance to make your life even more special you need to take that chance, even if you have to leave your family for a few years, you will come back. I won't be lonely, I have, Bianchi-chan, I-pin-chan, Lambo, Fuuta, even Haru-chan and Kyoko-chan to keep me company, so I'll be waiting right here with them when you come back."
She pulled away, her hands on his shoulders holding him steady, "not all change is bad Tsu-kun, most of the time it leads to life's greatest pleasures." She leaned down and placed a chaste kiss on his forehead before linking one of his arms with hers and pulling him towards the park, her bright smile back on her face.
They walked in silence, Tsuna mulling over everything his mother had said to him, newfound determination entered him as he thought of talking to his friends and tutor. The park came into view and they saw Bianchi, Lambo, I-pin and Fuuta waiting at the entrance, the two brunettes walked up to them and the group entered the park together.
They were about to find a nice tree to sit under when a call interrupted them, "Tsuna-sama?" the teen turned and came face to face with six of his guardians looking quite stressed sitting in a sandbox with his tutor and another guardian standing not far from them. "Guys!?"
"And that's why I need you guys to talk to Tsuna." Reborn said with a twitch threatening to appear in his eye, he had just finished explaining to Ryohei for the 17th time the situation they were in and what he needed to do, but every time he would find something to misunderstand.
"ALRIGHT! I EXTREMELY GET IT!" They sighed with relief, 'finally.' They all thought, "BUT." They all groaned, was he never going to get it, "ARE YOU SURE THIS IS EXTREMELY ALRIGHT? AREN'T WE JUST EXTREMLY FORCING OUR VIEWS ONTO TSUNA? HE HAS THE RIGHT TO MAKE HIS OWN DESICION TO THE EXTREME."
They all paused, he was making a good point, "he has a point, do we really have the right to force Tsuna into something he doesn't want to do?" Takeshi asked wearily, 'I really don't want to go against Tsuna.' He and the rest of the guardians thought. "Yes we do, Tsuna wants to go, he is just forcing himself to think otherwise."
"Why?" The bomber asked tentatively, Reborn stared at him for a moment before shaking his head, "figure it out yourselves, you're supposed to be his friends." Hayato frowned, not satisfied with the answer but accepted it anyways.
Out of the corner of his eyes he could see a group of people entering the park, he was about to yell at them to leave when he noticed the familiarity of the noisy kids, he looked from the back of on head to the other. He recognised his sister's hair, the annoying cow's annoying hair, then, "Tsuna-sama?"
Every head turned to face the bomber whose eyes were trained on the brunette head that was slowly turning around. They all followed his line of vision and landed upon bright chocolate brown eyes that widened in surprise, "Guys!?" he seemed lost for words, who wouldn't be, it was quite the odd sight to see.
Nana turned around, surprised at her son's shout and her eyes found the odd group, "ohh, are you all here to join the picnic?" she didn't wait for a reply before turning to set up the blankets, leaving Tsuna with his friends. "W-what are you all doing here?"
"WE ARE HAVING A MEETING TO THE EXTREME!" the rest of the group shot angry glares at the boxer who just seemed confused, Tsuna's face scrunched up in confusion, "a meeting, what for?" Nobody seemed to want to answer so Ryohei decided he spare them the trouble and answer again, "A MEETING ON HOW WE WOULD GET YOU T-" he was effectively cut off by a very hard kick to the forehead from a very irritated Reborn.
Tsuna's face scrunched further before his eyes widened in realization, "a meeting on how to get me to change my mind." He lowered his head; his amused eyes covered by his bangs making the others think he was upset. There were a few minutes of silence; all that could be heard was the scuffling behind Tsuna as they got ready for the picnic to come.
"Thank you," he began, his eyes stayed looking towards the ground, "but you didn't need to do this since I've already changed my mind," he looked up at them surprise evident on nearly all of their faces (Reborn's was hidden). "Why?" the baby asked, obviously curious as to how the stubborn boy's opinion had been changed that quickly, "I had a talk with someone, and they told me that most of the time, change is a good thing and I should embrace it instead of shun it."
They all stared in complete awe at the words of wisdom that came out of his mouth, "hahaha, well that's good; I don't know what I would have said to change your mind." Takeshi said casually while standing up and heading over to the picnic setup, patting Tsuna's shoulder on the way there, "bye Kyoya!" Tsuna shouted to the leaving prefect, "Hn," he grunted over his shoulder before leaving swiftly. Hayato came over and gushed at Tsuna saying he was sorry for going behind his back and that he should commit seppuku.
Tsuna smiled at his silver haired friend, "it's ok Hayato, go join the others at the tree," he was hesitant at first but eventually followed his bosses orders. Mukuro and Chrome walked past him, Chrome giving him an approving nod and Mukuro sparing him a glance out of the corner of his crimson eye, Ryohei was not far behind, wobbling slightly because of the kick's after effects.
Tsuna had a content grin covering his face when Reborn showed up in-front of him, "good job Tsuna, you made a decision without my help." Tsuna looked down at him, "this time," Tsuna added, the hitman smirked before walking to the others leaving Tsuna behind, "yeah, this time." After a few moments of staring at the pretty colours of the sky, Tsuna turned around and joined his family under the tree.
Nana watched her son with a proud expression which softened into a comfortable smile, 'I'm happy for you Tsu-kun.'
