Right Side Of Day, Left Side Of Night Chapter
"Where...what happened?"
Where was he, the other twin. He questioned this to himself as he opened his eyes to the sight of a beautiful country side meeting the final rays of day. Then nightfall took over the meadow and darkness dimmed the colors of the grass.
The flaxen haired young man blinked and stared at the scenery around him and closed his eyes in frustration.
"WHERE THE HECK DID SHE PUT ME THIS TIME?!"
He could just hear the small giggles going on in the back of his mind.
It took him two hours to get back to the town and find Miku, lounging on her new couch-the one that he slept on two days ago-and snacking on leeks.
"...What happened to you...?" He heard her say in mid-chew. She took a sniff of air towards his direction. "You smell."
He gave a weak smirk and brushed off the dirt and dust of the country roads. Miku could already see the exhaustion in his eyes as he collapsed on the couch beside her. The teal haired maiden took great care to inch away from the boy a little. Len looked at her with a sagging smile with a fail attempt to try to place the usual 'suave Len' persona on his hostess.
She stared at his blank eyes for a moment and shook her head, throwing the leeks over her shoulder. "I don't care if you're some formal holy being.. Just don't try and fake that annoying smooth look you always have on your eyes. Face it. You're exhausted," The girl sighed and stood up before the boy with a small frown on her lips. But it turned into a smile as she mock nudged his head with a sense of playfulness.
Len let out a small puff of air and looked up in annoyance to her. "You didn't have to do that."
"So what if i did?" She retrieved a cup of water from the kitchen and handed the refreshment to the former immortal.
He drank from the cup with gusto and set the cup aside with a small smirk, he felt rejuvenated once more. Now only to get this crap off of his clothes...
"Thank you ma'am!" He looked up to her with an exaggerated smile. "Now where do you keep the bathtub?"
This remark earned a slap to the face.
Len, still rubbing his poor cheek, groaned in pain as Miku stood before him with a 'i don't give a fuck' face.
He looked at her with disbelief that she would slap a god with such vigor. And he was just about to give a fuck when Miku grabbed his hand and dragged him all the way to her bathroom, which he had no idea existed.
The bathroom was...well it was your average bathroom in the 1800s. Mirror, toilet, bathtub-and all made of wood and stone. The tub happened to be a half cut barrel, only bigger, and unfortunately this happened to be the exact opposite of what Len was used to. Oh well,at least he wasn't Rin.
"The pump is right there, and all you're ever going to get is cold water out of it," She pointed to the rusty, graying water pump beside the tub. "Just be thankful that it's clean water unlike the lower lives in the slums of this town. It's not my fault that i'm poor okay?!"
She was just about to leave him in the washroom to do his business when he called out her name.
"What?"
"What clothes am I to change into?" He looked down to whatever garments he was wearing at the moment. "They're too dirty."
The young woman blushed in her mishap and took a breath. "We'll cross that bridge when you finish your bath. For the meanwhile...wait a second please-" She disappeared from the bathroom and sprinted to her room to grab a shabby bathrobe. It was falling apart, but at least it was better than him strolling around her house with only a towel to cover his...you know whats.
She rushed back to where Len was waiting. He already had his shoes and his shirt off, but he had enough sense to keep his pants on. Miku was stunned at the sight for a moment, but she shook her head to clear the fuzziness and gave the bathrobe to the flaxen haired boy. The teal haired girl then mumbled a few words about where to find the soap hurried out of the room to give him some privacy.
She heard him pump the water in the washroom and she sighed as she walked over to her room to look through her wardrobe. There was nothing that special in her cache of clothing, just the average, cheap stuff. Most of the dresses were cotton and weren't fancy of the sort. She wondered as she looked through the wardrobe if she could use any of the clothes to dress Len so that he didn't have only the bathrobe to clothe him.
It was mostly dresses, but maybe...she could use her work clothing to...
That was it.
The flaxen haired boy stepped out of the washroom with damp and tousled hair but clothed with the simple, white bathrobe. He called out his hostess' name but there was no reply. He sighed and shrugged as he stepped into the living room of the cottage to find her. She was nowhere in sight.
"Where could that girl be?"
He heard noises coming from her room.
Meanwhile, Miku was busy at work changing and adjusting threads on her oldest dress. Well, it wasn't that old but it was the only article of clothing she had that wasn't a dress.
"Aaaaaand, what are you doing?"
She turned around and was surprised to find Len after there. Well, she was surprised that she was surprised. Who else would be in the house besides him? Miku took a moment to take in the fact that Len was before her dressed only in that flimsy bathrobe. She squirmed for a midsecond, confusing Len, and went back to her work.
"I'm preparing decent, temporary clothing so that you can go outside, decently clothed," She replied to his question.
"And why would I go outside?"
"Because we're going shopping."
...what?
