I know. I seriously suck. It has been about 10 months since my last update. I am SO SO SO SO SO SORRY GUYS! I had an EXTREMELY busy (and freaking TERRIBLE) school year. Exams, crappy teachers, quizzes, tests, and work were dominating my life for the past 10 months. BUT THAT IS ALL OVER NOW! The year has ended and I am barely alive, but I made it. AND I AM BACK IN BUSINESS. Like I promised earlier, I am not going to just leave this story hanging. I'll stop talking and get to it!
CHAPTER 10
Tucker's POV
I heard a strange rustling sound coming from the trees. Startled, I looked up and saw this weird figure stumbling toward our "camp".
"Uhhh, Danny?! We got company!" I got up quickly and shook him. He sat up and rubbed his eyes. Danny looked up and saw the same figure. In a second he was on his feet and grabbed a large stick. Of course he had to check it out.
Danny's POV
I slowly started approaching the dark figure headed near us. I lit the large stick I had on fire by sticking it in the small campfire behind me. I held my stick up and saw Paulina walking towards us. She was covered in dirt and was moaning in pain. She looked dizzy and stumbled further. I caught her before she fell.
"Paulina?" I asked, amazed that she was alive. How did this happen?
"Am I still green? I feel better and I want my flawless skin back! I need my mirror!" She exclaimed, jumping out of my arms and rushing to her backpack, which was sitting next to a sleeping Dash.
Yup. Same old Paulina. Looks like death didn't change her at all.
Everybody in the camp, except for Timmy, was awake. Sam stared at Paulina incredulously.
"How the hell did you come back to life?" Tucker sputtered. He looked like he was about to pass out, like he had just seen a ghost. Pun intended.
"What are you talking about nerd boy? I woke up covered in dirt and I walked over to the camp. My headache was gone, thank goodness." Paulina replied, using the fire as her light and her mirror to fix her hair.
I walked over to Jazz, extremely suspicious of Paulina. What if she was actually a ghost? What if she was pretending to be human to get to us, or to kill me? Even though I am a ghost, I am somewhat "wanted". Apparently saving the town and doing good deeds in a sin in the ghost zone. It's like every ghost wants my head on a platter.
"You think she's actually alive?" I whispered to Jazz, watching Paulina as she lay next to Dash.
"According to my EctoSpecto, there are no ghosts nearby." She stated. The EctoSpecto was a device that detected levels of ectoplasm and other ghostly materials in the area. Stupid name, I know.
"There is no way she is randomly alive. Something, or someone, caused her to come back to life. But who?" I pondered out loud. I was so deep in thought that I didn't notice Sam standing beside me. Her voice broke my concentration.
"Danny, explain what's happening!" She demanded.
"I don't know, Sam! I'm assuming someone caused her to come back to life. Maybe there is someone on this island who knows about ghosts and cured her. Or maybe some evil ghost somehow found her and saved her. God knows why, I don't know!" I exclaimed, frustrated and confused.
"We should keep a really close eye on her. There's weird stuff going on around this island, and it's starting to weird me out." Sam responded, turning her head towards Timmy.
"What is he going to think? He knows that Paulina passed away. He is going to be so confused and scared to see that the dead came back to life." Sam added, gesturing towards Timmy, who was sleeping soundly.
"He is only three, I don't think he'll fully understand the situation. Come on now, let's all try to get some sleep. We have a full day of fruit-picking, water-collecting, and Paulina-watching to do tomorrow." Jazz said. Danny rolled his eyes and I groaned. I walked back over to Timmy and lay down on his side. Sam took his other side and used her backpack as a pillow. Within minutes, everyone in the camp was asleep.
I heard a small giggle come from beside me. I turned my head and looked at Timmy, who seemed to be dreaming happily. I smiled at him. He was a really cute kid. I felt bad though, his parents weren't around and he was so young. I was glad that Sam and I could be his temporary care-takers though. We seemed like we'd be a good couple to take care of this kid.
Couple?
No. Just two teenagers who happened to get stuck on an island and help a three-year old survive. I almost laughed at the thought. I didn't know Sam that well, and the loneliness that the island brought to us all probably caused all these weird thoughts.
THE NEXT MORNING
Sam's POV
I was the first to rise. To be honest, I didn't sleep well. I was keeping one eye open almost all night for Paulina. Timmy's constant dream-giggling didn't help the situation much either. I stood up and was about to go change my shirt when I felt a tug on my leg.
Little Timmy was awake too. He looked up at me with these big blue eyes.
Blue?
I swore that Timmy's eyes were green. Confused, I realized that it was the sun's angle and light reflection. I bent down and looked into Timmy's eyes. Sure enough, they were the usual green.
"I want a Pop Tart, Mommy!" He exclaimed. I sighed.
"Timmy, we don't have Pop Tarts. Let's eat some fruits, they're much healthier!" I exclaimed, trying to get some excitement into the kid. He stamped his foot on the ground.
"Pop Tarts!" He yelled. I groaned.
"How about some Pop Tart filling? I have a lot of that, and it's very yummy!" I said to him. I knew that some Pop Tarts had fruit fillings, so I decided to mash up some bananas.
"Banana flavor Pop Tart!" I presented to him, handing him a large leaf with banana chunks on it.
He looked at my creation and grimaced. He got up and grabbed a coconut and began to chew on the white part, drinking the juice inside it. It spilled all over his face and clothes. This was one sassy kid, refusing my "meal" like that! I started laughing.
"Good, Timmy! That is healthy!" I exclaimed. He giggled and started eating a banana. For a three-year old, he ate a lot.
I turned my head and looked at Paulina, who was practically smushed against Dash. Two "popular" people like that? Not even surprised. I should have expected it, really. Tucker and Jazz were on either side of the campfire, which had actually burned out. They were still asleep, but there was no sign of Danny.
Crap. I thought. I looked around, but didn't see him. I decided to look for him, so I woke up Jazz so that she could watch over Timmy.
"Auntie!" Timmy exclaimed, running over to Jazz. Surprised at his nickname for her, she chuckled and let him sit on her lap. I turned around and walked into the woods.
"Danny?" I called out, looking around me.
"I'm here!" I heard a voice out of nowhere. I looked up, and I saw Danny Phantom floating above me.
"That is so freaking weird but cool." I commented as he landed on the ground.
"Flying is one of the best parts of being a half-ghost." He said, brushing a leaf off his shoulder.
"So, you can lift really heavy things and fly and turn invisible and stuff?" I asked, even though I already knew the answers. Danny smiled and nodded.
"Yup!"
"So, uh, do you like carry people in danger to safety?" I asked.
DANNY'S POV
I looked her strangely, not expecting that question. It was pretty random.
"Um, yeah. I do, I guess." I responded. Her face lit up a bit.
Oh! Now I knew why she was saying all that. I smirked.
"You want a ride, don't you?" I asked, noticing her stiffen and turn slightly red.
"What? I, uh, I don't know. It doesn't really ma—"
I turned invisible, went underground, and came up right below Sam. I lifted her up high into the air and turned tangible.
Sam, who was not expecting that, was grabbing onto me tightly.
"Holy crap Danny!" She yelled, looking down. Her arms were around my neck and she was wrapped around me tightly. I could feel her heart beating rapidly, but it began to slow down.
"Give me a warning first, ghost boy!" She exclaimed, laughing. She lightly punched my shoulder, and I grinned. I began moving through the air quickly, but not fast enough to freak out Sam. She was an adventure freak, I noticed. She wasn't scared of being up high or the speed. She was having fun, which made me feel really happy for some reason. I decided to scare her.
I saw an enormous rock in front of us, and it was right in our path. Instead of flying over it, I was going to go through it. Sam looked at the rock and began punching my shoulder.
"Danny, there's a giant rock! Go up!" She yelled, pounding her fist on my chest. She buried her head in the crook of my neck, preparing for impact. At the last second, I turned intangible and flew through the rock. Since I was touching her, she was intangible too.
"Woah!" She exclaimed after we flew through. She was laughing again, looking down at the trees below us. I flew back to the camp and set her down. I turned back into Danny Fenton.
"That was AMAZING, Danny! It was like a ride, but a million times more exhilarating!" Sam exclaimed.
"Yeah, it's pretty fun." I replied, The wind had messed up Sam's hair slightly. I walked up to her and moved a strand behind her ear. My fingers tingled as they made contact with her skin. I turned around before she could see me blush.
"Let's get breakfast." I said, walking back to the camp.
"Yeah. Let's." Sam said quietly, walking behind me. I could practically feel her smile.
CHAPTER 10 DONE GUYS! I know it wasn't VERY exciting, but hey. I got some Danny and Sam fluff, along with some questionable events in this chapter. Who pulled out Paulina? How is she back from the dead? You'll have to wait until chapter 11!
