"Ash, Ash, wake up," Misty said as she shook her sleeping boyfriend. Her bright orange hair fell to her shoulders. He was the solitary resident in his childhood home; however, she still slept in his old room. He had converted his mother's old bedroom into a pokemon study.

"Whaaat?" Ash yawned as he rolled over on his side.

Misty rubbed her boyfriend's tan shoulder. "Today is the big day," she said before kissing Ash gently on the cheek.

He sat up and scratched his messy black hair. He rubbed his brown eyes. "Right," he replied drowsily," I have that battle with my dad today." He pulled the wrinkled old napkin from under his battle and looked at the black writing fondly. He rolled out of bed before pulling on a pair of light blue jeans.

Misty picked up a black shirt and threw it at her boyfriend. "You are going to do great. Your pokemon are living proof that you have grown as a trainer."

Ash kissed Misty lightly on the lips. "Thanks," he said, "I couldn't have done this without you."

"Anything to help train a water pokemon," she responded. When Ash was training Squirtle, he frequently visited the Cerulean City gym. He felt as if Squirtle could train with other strong water types such as Gyrados, Squirtle would learn faster. With the help of Misty, Squirtle became a powerful Blastoise.

The couple quickly got ready and took the hour drive to Viridian City in Misty's Navy Blue Volkswagon Beetle. They parked in front of the Gym where Delia, adorned in a pale green polka dot sundress, was waiting for them. Delia threw her arms around her son, "Oh Ash, it's good to see you," she gushed.

"Hi Mom," Ash replied warmly.

"Hi, Mrs. Ketchum," Misty greeted. "Are you enjoying living here?"

Delia sighed and responded, "I miss everyone, and it's where I was raised. I am glad to be back with Giovanni. Besides, I live like a queen." Only two years ago, Delia had moved into Giovanni's manor on the outskirts of town near the forest. She had a vast backyard for her garden, and Mr. Mime had a million rooms to clean. Although Delia missed her hometown, she loved waking up to her husband every day.

"Oh, Ash, your father is so excited about this battle. You have no idea how proud he is. Just don't be nervous. There is a bit of crowd," Delia said with a light giggle. Ash and Misty glanced at one another before following Ash's mother into the gym. The room was illuminated by stage lights. The rafters were filled with Team Rocket members, but Ash didn't see his father above or in the arena.

"Oh my," Misty said as she looked around.

Giovanni with his Persian by his side stepped out from a corridor. "Ash Ketchum," he stated. "I have waited a long time for this day."

"Believe me," Ash responded, "I know the feeling."

Ash called out his Blastoise and his father called out his Rhydon. Rhydon started with a mighty Earthquake, and Blastoise used Skull Bash. The mighty water pokemon knocked Rhydon onto the ground. "Hydro Pump" Ash commanded. Rhydon was knocked out.

Giovanni called out Nidoking, and the battle continued. Each pokemon's brute strength was tested. Using the same strategy, Blastoise quickly defeated the ground monstrous pokemon.

Father and Son pitched their Charizards against one another. Each pokemon flew into the air. Burst of flames emitted from their mouths. "Dis is intense," meowth commented. Eventually Giovanni's decision to use dragon breath while Ash choose to use fly decided which Charizard was stronger.

One by one, they called out their strongest pokemon. Each move was determined with a precision. By the end of the battle, Persian and Pikachu were faced off against one another. When the Persian collapsed onto the floor, Ash was called the winner.

"You now have control over Team Rocket," Giovanni said. Team Rocket members could be heard gasping and whispering.

"Does that mean da' twerp is gonna be our boss?" Meowth asked.

"The reign of Team Rocket is now over! Go find real jobs!" Ash shouted, and crime was never introduced to the Ketchum family ever again.
