Chapter 9 - So Close
3rd POV
It's the right shade," Kutoka mewed, peering at a small potion in her clawed hand. "Alright, you two, open up."
The two felines opened their little fanged mouths, letting Kutoka pour the potion down their throats. It surprisingly tasted like blueberries. For Kanda, it took immediate effect. There was a flash, and in the place of the impatient black cat stood everyone's favorite samurai in perfect condition, besides the fact that he was shirtless and the only garment he has on are a pair of shredded slacks.
But for Allen, it was a different story. He returned back to normal, yes, but with a few...er, extra appendages.
What? Why is everyone staring at me? Didn't the potion work," Allen panicked, patting himself down and noticed something strange about his hands, more specifically his fingernails.
"Whoa...," then he touched the sides of his head, not feeling his ears, but found them replaced by cat ears on top of his head.
"Nee-chan..."
"Yeah, Allen?"
"Do I..?"
"Have a tail? A very fluffy one."
Allen's breath hitched in his throat, a kit's cry as well, as he quenched it with his hands. His eyes were wide with shock and burned with tears. Kutoka caught the scent of salt and embraced her brother tightly. She stroked his head, avoiding his ears, rubbing small circles at the base of his neck.
"Hush, Ally, it's okay. It's okay."
"No, it's not. I... I look even more out of place! These give some of the Finders another reason to pick on me! What am I going to do?"
Kutoka sighed, diving into her mind, absentmindedly stroking Allen's head.
'Hmm... what could have gone wrong? Komui had made it right. Kanda is back to normal as far as we know. Maybe something in my formula... Did I not count in all the factors? Let's see... Kanda's regenerative abilities, check... Allen's parasitic Innocence, check... Allergies, check... The amount of my blood in their veins, che-, oh shit...'
"Nee-chan," Allen mewed, looking into his sister's thoughtful eyes. "Nee-chan?"
"Hmm," she looks back. "Sorry, Ally... I think this is my fault... I didn't calculate my demon blood in both of you(1). It seemed so trivial and knowing Kanda's abilities, I thought he had purified himself of my blood, and thinking your Innocence would think it as akuma oil, I assumed the same thing. Really, I'm sorry. I'll fix this, but..."
"I'll have to stay like this for a while..." Allen grew a disheartened expression, which could break stone hearts.
"Moyashi, look on the bright side...,"Kanda said. "You at least look more like the neko."
Allen's eyes brightened up at the thought. "Yeah, I guess so. We'll be even closer, Nee-chan!"
"Yeah, but now I'm going to have to teach you how to use these abilities that most likely came with those new appendages." Kutoka rests her chin on her fist which was resting on the other arm wrapped around her middle. "But that's going to be a lot of trouble now."
""What do you mean," Komui inquired.
"Allen's now a half-demon, granted an artificial one(2), but he is still one. Meaning..," Kutoka pauses, closing her eyes in a frown.
Kanda scowls, crossing his arms. "Meaning what, Neko?"
Kutoka opens the eye opposite of the hand holding her chin. "Meaning his scent has strengthened. Meaning my scent on him has also strengthened. Meaning my enemies that come looking for me and find him will attack him, thinking he's me. Even though finding one of my enemies from my childhood in England, let alone Europe is rare, but we did find Diablo in town."
"So what are we going to do," Kanda asked harshly. "Like we really want an attack that destroys the Order. The damn Sister Complex's robots do that enough!"
"Not much you guys can do. All I can do is kill the youkai before they come here, and train Allen."
"To do what, Neko? Turn into a kitten?"
Kutoka scowls. "There is a lot I can teach Allen. Most would take centuries, but I can teach how to control his youki(3) at the very least. And we're going to have to hide those ears and tail..."
Lenalee, who had just come in with her brother's coffee shrieks. "Kanda-kun, Allen-kun, you're back to normal!" She sets down the tray and hugs the two boys tightly.
"Lenalee... we have a problem..." Kutoka said, raining on her parade.
"What do you mean?" Lenalee pulls away, surveying the boys and she spots Allen's new ears. "Oh... well, at least you almost back to normal."
"Got any ideas on hiding them and his tail, my precious baby sister?"
Lenalee tapped her finger on her chin, before producing a dark gray knitted hat and placing it over the protruding, furry triangles. "Well, there are the ears. Maybe, you wrap your tail around your body under your shirt?"
"Mm, okay..." Allen lifts his shirt and coils the furry snake around his waist. Kutoka situated his shirt over it to hide the slight bludge the tail gave his figure.
"How is it," Allen asked, spinning to give his friends a full view.
"Fine," Kutoka said. "If I didn't know it was there, I would have to stare."
"I think it's fine, Allen-kun."
"Che."
"I agree with the girls. So, Kutoka, I want that training effective immediately, and Allen, I want you to listen and do everything your sister says, no matter what. Do you two understand?"
"Jawohl!(4)"
"Yes, Komui-san!"
"You are dismissed. Oh and Allen-kun!"
"Hm?" Allen turned back from the door. "Yes, sir?"
"Would you like more missions to stay out of the Order?"
Kutoka interrupted. "I think it's a good idea. Less chance of being caught if you are seen less."
Allen nods. "Is there a mission available?"
"Not yet," Komui replied. "But you'll be the first to know when there is one."
"Alright, see you, Komui," Kutoka shouted back as she grabbed Allen's arm and drags him off. "Training starts now. We'll be working on endurance!"
"Wait, Nee-chan, slow down!" Kutoka had been running at almost full speed, basically a fast jog. Allen was trying to keep his footing but he kept slipping.
"Allen, I'm going to let go. Just run as fast as you can, okay. We'll be going in the forest. Ready?"
"Nee-"
"3!"
"Nee-chan! Can't we-"
"2!"
"Kutoka!"
"1! Meet you outside!"
Kutoka let go off of Allen and ran ahead. Allen slipped up a bit, but soon caught his footing and caught up to his speeding sister. The wind blew through his hair and roared in his ears. It felting like he was flying in the open skies above England. Allen always wondered why his sister would go on morning and nightly runs in the forest besides the fitness factor. This must be it; the feeling of the wind in one's face and feeling like nothing can touch you. He let out an ecstatic laugh, surprising his sister.
"Feeling high?"
"Feeling cloud nine!"

Notes:
(1): Kutoka's demon blood acts like Kanda's when he healed Marie's injury when they were younger, but it's permanent. It stays in the bloodstream, but Kanda is an exception because of his lotus curse.
(2): Half-demon facts from Inuyasha: There are two ways of making a hanyou. One is being born from a youkai and human, or two hanyou. The second is a human merging with many demons. That's cannon. My third way is if a youkai or hanyou gave a human enough of their blood, they would turn into a hanyou. Usually the third way is for mating purposes. In this case, with as much blood she put into Allen for quick healing(see #1), he just had enough for the potion to act as a catalyst and make it more potent, thus turning him. But if not mated and blood is put into the human, it will delude after a while.
(3): Youki is demonic energy is very close to Kutoka's auratsu(see first chapter notes). But it is still different. Youki is linked to a demon's soul so it's like a spiritual fingerprint. It can be used for stealth, like hiding your scent. Auratsu is more for the environment, like Kutoka's auratsu make the area surrounding her windy. Temperatue change is caused by the wind, not the auratsu.
(4): German – 'Yes', but more of what you say to a superior? I don't know. It translates to 'Yes!', 'Yes Sir!', and 'Aye, aye, Sir!' Correct me.
This is the end of Yin-Yang Kittens. But the story isn't over! Be sure to be on the lookout for the sequel! It's a crossover! It's called 'Into The Past', but it's not up yet. I will write it before I post it, so there won't be a repeat of YYK. God, it was terrible...
