Chapter 10: Helping Aro

Renesmee's point of view:

When we got back to the house, we sat down with Nahuel and Huilen. They told us their story of how they came to be, that they were part of a South American tribe called the Mapuche, and then one day Nahuel's mother was met by the nocturnal blood drinking demon called the 'Libisomon' of their legends, and then soon after that she realized that she was pregnant, and in less than a month she gave birth.

I found it rather interesting that Nahuel has vampire venom that creates full pure vampires? Curious? I wonder if there is some scientific factor to that?

Then came another matter. The youngest wolf in the pack, Philip, who had been killed during the fight, it was Sam's duty to tell his parents and they needed my telepathic abilities to better explain it to Philip's parents.

We all went to the Quileute Indian reservation where we met with Philips parents and we told them everything, the whole secret, and explained how and why Philip died.

That night we burned Philip's body in a bonfire where Sam spoke a beautiful eulogy in the native language of the Quileutes and for everyone there who didn't speak the language I translated word for word, my Jacob had taught me the language a short time earlier, it was not difficult for me to learn.

After the funeral we all went back to the house for group association, and a Volturi guard member by the name of Jay, who possessed healing powers healed of the scars on Emily's face. And then I fell asleep in Mama's arms.

The next morning when I woke up I was in my crib back at the cottage. I could have gotten out of the crib easily myself but I decided to call for Mama, she came in an instant. I was taken outside and carried back to the house. Many of our vampire guests were there. Santiago, who had proven that he was loyal to Marcus through daddy's mind reading and Maggie's testimonial of his honesty walked over to us, Jacob stood between us.

"It's okay." the big vampire said. "I just wanted to tell you Jacob Black, for what it is worth I never meant the girl any harm, my orders were to bring her in alive."

"And myself?" asked my Jacob.

"I was supposed to kill you, but I hope that we can put that behind us."

"Well, that's very kind of you, but if you could just stay away from her, I would appreciate it."

The big vampire nodded in respect and walked away. Grandpa walked over to me, as well as Benjamin and Tia walked over to us, and said that they wanted to have yellow eyes from now on and were wondering if we would take them hunting vegetarian style.

So we took them out and we ran for quite a way until we found a herd of deer. Benjamin and Tia hunted the deer perfectly. Their eyes look a little more closer to orange.

We were about to approach the house when we heard the thundering sound of stone clashing against stone, indicating a vampire battle. We ran to the treeline where Amun and Kebi were fighting with Uncle Emmett and Aunt Rosalie. Grandpa and Benjamin jumped between Amun and Uncle Emmett, while grandma and Tia jumped between Kebi and Aunt Rosalie.

"All right, that is enough of that." said grandpa diplomatically.

"My dear father, I am glad you have returned." said Benjamin.

"Is something going on here?" asked grandma as she looked between Amun, Emmett, Kebi, and Rosalie.

"He insulted our family for what is happening to Benjamin and then he called Nessie a half breed in a derogatory tone of voice!" said Uncle Emmett accusingly.

"Then let us not sink to his level, Emmett." said grandpa.

Then the rest of us walked into the clearing.

"Amun, my southern neighbor, I see have returned." said Aro with enthusiasm towards Amun.

"I have only returned for the rest of my coven. Once word got around that you all are still alive I thought I would return." said Amun. "Aro, they let you walk free it seems."

"Just until my trial, friend." said Aro. "Carlisle?"

"Yes, Aro?" responded grandpa.

"Is Corin around? My wife is suffering from withdrawal."

Corin, a member of the Volturi guard creates an addictive narcotic effect that makes people happy. I found out her body was completely torn to shreds by the five wolves that were still on their feet at the end of the battle.

"You know I'm more than happy to help, Aro." Said Grandpa sympathetically. "I have no interest in seeing Sulplicia suffer from withdrawal. But, unfortunately right now we're still putting Corin back together, at the end of the battle the five remaining wolves really did a number on her, she is a very confusing jigsaw right now, if we can't put her back together, we're thinking that it might be more humane just to burn her."

"But what about my wife's addiction?" asked Aro with extreme concern.

I felt for him. He and his wife shouldn't suffer.

"With all due respect Aro," said grandpa in polite reprimand, "you have only yourself to blame for that, and I think that she will overcome the addiction faster if she quits it cold turkey."

"It will take over 200 years for her to overcome the addiction." Said Aro with concern. "At the very least I would like to wean her off of the addiction gradually."

"I agree." Said grandpa. "But it will take longer for her to overcome the addiction. Plus we will keep working on Corin. Ultimately, if we can't put her back together, we will all just have to make do."

Then I stepped forward.

"Mama, I would like to speak with my client in private, please." I said in a professional lawyer type voice. "In preparation for the trial."

"Okay sweetie," said momma, "but I don't want you to be alone with Aro."

"Okay Jacob and grandpa can stay with me." I said.

"Very well." said momma.

"Well, we're going." said Seth. "See you all later."

Seth and Tanya were about to get into the car.

"Where are you two going off to together?" asked momma.

"Me and Seth are lovers, cousin." said Tanya.

Everyone there was shocked. Emmett was amused.

Cousin Tanya, and Cool Big Brother Seth!? Oh, it would be so sweet if they got married!

"Since he's a wolf, I wonder if they do it doggy style." said Emmett in a sarcastic joking tone.

"Grow up Emmett!" Cousin Tanya reprimanded.

"Well, Seth, you seem to have a weakness for attractive vampires." said Emmett. "I mean, when you got your neck broken by Caius, it was because you had your attention focused on Heidi."

"It doesn't matter. Right now, I'm happy. And I don't care what anyone thinks." said Seth defiantly. "Baby, let's go. I'm hungry."

They got in the car and drove off.

"Well Nessie," said Jacob, "let's go talk to your client in private."

"Wait," Amun said, "there's just one thing I would like to do, Aro."

And without another word Amun raised his alien weapon, a 'Goa'uld Hand Device' and blasted Aro with a shot of Kinetic Force and he went flying and slammed his back into a tree.

"That's for Isinia!" Amun shouted.

Aro got up and looked at Amun with what would seem to be regret on his face. "I'm sorry."

Me, my Jacob, and Grandpa then walked into the house with Aro. We all walked into a room together and closed the door.

"Okay Aro, I would like to rehearse what we are going to say during your trial." I told him.

"I fail to see the point, they're just going to kill me anyway." Aro said, not convinced.

"Not with that attitude." I told Aro in reprimand. "You see Aro, that is what you would do if you were the presiding judge over a trial. You would just say that they were guilty and kill them."

Aro got defensive on that.

"That is not true. When the Denali's mother created an immortal child I only punished her, not them."

I smiled and jumped on that with positiveness.

"OK. That's good, we can work with that." I encouraged. "That is a demonstration of your lawfulness towards the innocent. Now, what do you think? Do you think you are innocent or do you think you are guilty? Don't answer. That question is rhetorical. You are guilty. What I am going to try and do is get them to let you live. Of course, now that the Volturi is under new management things are supposed to change."

"Are you saying that Marcus is going to grant me mercy?" asked Aro with skepticism.

"It is possible." I told him. "It all depends on how you present yourself during your trial. Now let's talk about what you are going to say. First off I want you to plead guilty, and tell them that you are willing to accept whatever punishment that they impose on you. See, what that will do is, such a statement shows honesty and character which will allow them to grant leniency."

Aro frowned, not liking the idea.

"This feels so undignified for a man of my position." he said in a disappointed tone of voice.

"Well, let's not forget Aro, you have been stripped of your position." said grandpa counteracting the 'Aro's position' part.

"There is something that you need to learn, Aro." my Jacob stepped in. "Humility. You need to learn to humble yourself. If you would rather die, than do whatever it takes to save your life in your trial, then we are just wasting our time, and had might as well just burn you right now and save us all a lot of time. You are at the mercy of the judgement of Marcus, of the Romanians, of us, of every one who has some kind of grudge against you, so since you are at their mercy you have to appeal to their mercy. Now as a wolf, I am still human in a sense. And what we humans do when we are at someone's mercy is...you, Aro, have got to beg. You have got to plead. You need to know how to suck up to people. Tell them you're sorry and mean it. Convince them you are repentant and mean it, and that you only wish for just for one...more...chance. And when they give you that chance, 'don't blow it'."

I looked at my Jacob and twitched her eyebrow in thought. I was impressed with his choice of words and wisdom.

Reneesme: "Well, that's the gist of it."

Aro closed his eyes as though praying for patience. I think he was trying to bring himself to the right state of understanding for the situation that he was in.

"I will follow your directions." Aro said. "I will say whatever you tell me to say. I will do whatever you tell me to do."

"Glad to hear it." said grandpa.

"Also, for the trial, I want you to have yellow eyes." I told him.

"I beg your pardon?" Aro said in disbelief.

"I think it will change people's opinion of you and you will make a better impression." I told him. "What you need to do is get the people to think that you are totally reformed."

"So what you are saying is, you want me to drink animal blood for the next six days?" he asked.

"To yellow up your eyes, yes." I said.

Assuming that Aro was going to live up to his word to do whatever I said, I immediately went on to the next part.

"Next we need to counter every argument that the witnesses are going to throw at you." I explained. "I assume that you have read the minds of most of them?"

"Yes I have, most of them, not all of them." Aro said.

"Alright then. I need to know everything they know, I need to know what ever you would use against them, and I need to know whatever they would use against you."

So for the next few hours I went over what our legal argument at the trial would be.

I then took Aro out into the woods with my Jacob, daddy, and momma. We were going to teach Aro how to hunt vegetarian style. We all ran to the woods at vampire speed until we stopped when we came across a scent, it was a herd of deer.

"They don't smell very good." Aro complained.

"Well, we don't bother with birds and rodents, they don't have much blood in them." I explained. "The herbivores are quite bland, but their population here in North America is relatively abundant, the carnivores, like North American mountain lions and grizzly bears taste more like humans, though only fractionally. But today we're just going after the deer, the predators in this area have a low population, and to decimate their already low population would technically be against vampire law because it would threaten the balance and then people would notice."

Aro found that it wasn't that hard to hunt animals, he actually found it kind of fun, though he craved something that was a little more substantial. When we got back to the house, Aro's eyes were a little more orange, I was confident that they would be significantly more yellow by the date of the trial.
