Trunks felt a heavy guilt on his chest and drilling into his stomach. Chica was currently sleeping peacefully but that didn't mean she was okay. Trunks had upset her on purpose because that been his intention. He was mad at her for arguing with him and for her calling him names. He was also jealous of the fact that she liked Goten and not him. He didn't understand why to be honest. Most of it was his age the other half was just he couldn't wrap his mind around it. He was more attractive, in his opinion, had more money, he was stronger, and a lot smarter. Yet here she was crushing on Goten who was his best friend and adopted brother but still! He sighed he didn't really understand it himself. He had talked with Goku and told the older man what had happened. Goku had sighed hard and rolled his eyes glaring at Trunks. He told him he was acting immature and that the things he said to Chica were mean and unecessary. He explained she was a girl and even though she may act fiesty and strong emotionally and mentally they were sensitive. Trunks hadn't really hung out with a lot of girls besides his mother, Chichi, Videl, his grandmother, and Marron.
Chichi had almost got ahold of him but Goku had asked calmly to leave it alone and he explained why. Chica's mental state was very fragile right now and he didn't want any other negative emotions to influence her if at all possible. Chichi had reigned in her mother hen and just settled for a glare which still sent a cold chill up Trunks' spine. Goten was pissed off at him too he was in his room leaving Trunks in the living room by himself. Goku sat outside Chica's door in a chair before he decided it was probably best he brought her sister and Mirai here. He disappeared using his instant transmission. Trunks was left alone in the living on the sofa to sulk while he let his guilt tear into his stomach.
Maeve didn't know what had happened. One second she was literally on top of Mt. Paozu the next she was standing in a living room. As soon as they arrived her whole world shifted and she felt extremely nauseous. Her equilibrium was effected and she almost fell to the floor if not for Goku catching her under the arms. He sighed grinning sheepishly.
"Sorry. I forget that the first time you travel this way you get a little dizzy and nauseous especially humans." He said to the young woman not quite liking hte
"I think...I'm going to puke." Came Maeve's reply.
Goku made a panicked expression and quickly escorted her out the front door close by and Mirai winced hearing her retch outside. His gaze shifted to his younger self who was sitting on the couch arms crossed and staring out the window.
"Want to tell me what happened Trunks?" Mirai asked
Trunks looked at him with a shallow expression but sighed and started to explain as Goku took care of Maeve outside.
Maeve took a deep breath and put her palm on the wall of the house outside while Goku put a hand on her back. She let out a groan wiping her mouth on her sleeve. "Ugh...I feel awful."
"Sorry about that Maeve are you going to get sick again or do you want to try and come inside?" Goku asked
"I think I'll be all right as long as I sit down a minute. Do me a favor don't ever do that transporting thing again without warning me first or next time I'm going to puke on you." She threatened giving him a watery eyed stare.
Goku chuckled "Fair enough come on back inside."
Maeve walked through the door and didn't get a chance to sit down as she overheard Mirai glaring at Trunks who was looking down at the ground frowning but tears in his eyes. Maeve perked up curious and despite needing to sit down came over next to Mirai.
"Whats going on? What happened?"
"Tell her." Mirai snapped
"I said some mean things to Chica about you and her and I upset her." Trunks admitted in a low voice
"Okay so you were being a little jerk. What else is new? Why the emergency what else happened?" Maeve asked curious
"She got upset and her power is linked to her emotions. Between Trunks here showing her without proper training how to unlock her ki and our meditation exercises today your sister's power is not under control. When she got upset it caused her to lose control and that power to come out." Mirai explained
Maeve's eyes widened and she looked at Trunks who looked guilty "Unconciously she tried to drown him in the lake nearby."
"Oh my god." Maeve said in disbelief not realizing the extent of her sister's power
"Maeve Chica is going to be okay. She just has to take it slow and learn how to control her power she has tried to do too much too fast." Goku explained. He had been keeping quiet not wanting to overwhelm the young woman.
Maeve felt nauseous again but this time not from the Instant Transmission. Noticing her pale again and her hands tremble Mirai reached out and clutched her hand something he never would have done in a normal scenario but he wasn't thinking about that right now. Her hand instantly tightened against his her fingers curlying around his palm. "Easy Maeve. Sit down for a second." Mirai said softly
"Y-yeah that's a good idea." Maeve said shakily
"Come into the Kitchen guys. Trunks you stay here." Goku said pointedly at the teen who still hadn't raised his gaze from the ground. He made no move to argue. Both men lead the young woman into the kitchen and she sat at the dining table while Chichi got her some juice. Waiting a few minutes until Maeve recovered from her shock mixed with her ailments from the Instant Transmission she started to ask a few more questions.
"So what happened exactly? Obviously she didn't hurt Trunks but it probably scared her, knowing Chica, half to death when she realized what she did." Maeve said looking at Goku who was seated across from her. Chichi was quietly doing dishes used to the shenanigans that Goku got into and his friends not paying them any mind.
"Yeah she got upset and ran away. I sensed her power going out of control and found her and helped her calm down. She's strong but not strong enough to really hurt anyone of us who are Super Saiyans." Goku said expecting that she knew about that level of their power
"Super what? What is that?" She asked looking back at Mirai who was leaning against the wall.
"Its another level we can ascend too. Our hair and eyes change color and our power grows tremendously not much can hurt us at that level except another Super Saiyan or a stronger opponent." Mirai explained
Maeve's eyes were wide and she looked at him than back to Goku "Can you all, Trunks and Goten too, transform like that?"
"Yep all of us can. I can go to two more levels above that. Mirai here, my son, and Vegeta can go to the second level. Goten and Trunks are still young so they have only ascended to the first level." Goku said smiling broadly with pride.
Maeve laid her head into her palm "Just when I was getting used to the alien thing, special powers, and energy blasts you guys have more surprises up your sleeve." she turned glaring at Mirai "Anything else? Do you have a tail or anything!" she snapped angry
"Well actually..." Goku chuckled nervously Mirai slapped a hand to his face
"You have got to be fucking kidding me!" Maeve shrieked in shock making everyone wince even Goten in his room on the otherside of the house.
"Young lady you will not use that kind of language in this house!" Chichi snapped angrily. Maeve sighed looking at the pretty older woman dressed in the Chinese style dress and her ebony hair in a high bun. She was being disrespectful.
"I'm sorry Mrs. Son."
"Apology accepted. Now I think you need to go check on your sister. Follow me. The boys will stay here." Chichi said butting noting the young woman was under a tremedously amount of stress. Chichi dried her hands on her apron and walked out of the kitchen as Maeve stood and followed. Mirai moved to follow but Chichi glared over her shoulder and he froze immediately.
"Its all right she'll be okay." Goku said amused at the protectiveness the young man was displaying for Maeve. Mirai blushed slightly and quickly pretended something outside the kitchen window was interesting. as Goku grinned.
"You know Goten's had the biggest crush on Maeve for awhile I can see why. She's kinda cute." Goku said watching the silent warrior visibly stiffen at the comment
"She's all right." came a quiet reply but his face was bright red
"She's right around your age too..."
"Goku we're just friends!" Mirai snapped defensively turning on the older warrior making Goku laugh
"Okay I believe you! Just watch it though Goten will be old enough to date soon." Goku said waggling his eyebrows at the warrior and he rolled his eyes snorting before looking back out the window leaving Goku to snicker.
Chichi lead Maeve up a flight of stairs to an upper level. They walked past Goten's room and sensing them he opened his door. "Goten go back into your room please." Chichi said
"Yes momma. I just wanted to Mae-san real quick." Goten said
Maeve looked at him "Mae-san I'm sorry Chica-chan always gets in trouble with us. She's my bestfriend and I like her a lot please don't be too mad at me its mostly Trunks' fault!"
Chichi was about to reprimand her son for being so rude but Maeve beat him too it. "Its okay Goten. Thank you for being Chica's friend. I know Trunks said some mean things to her that upset her and I know you are usually trying to talk those two out of trouble. Do me a favor and don't ever stop looking out for her okay?" Maeve asked softly and put her on his head. Honestly he was up to her chest and in another year or more possibly could be taller than her and from the looks of it a good looking kid. Goten took a determined look to his expression and balled his fists nodding.
"Yes Mae-san! I will!"
"Thank you Goten." Maeve said offering him a small smile before turning to follow Chichi once more. Chichi smiled at her son winking at him and he grinned before going back into his room.
Maeve entered what used to be Gohan, the elder Son brother, room now the guest room and Chica was curled up on the bed. She was dressed in a overly large shirt that had to belong to Goku. Maeve sighed in relief seeing she was safe and sound.
"I'll leave you too alone if you need anything just let me know." Chichi said smiling and bowing.
Maeve bowed back "Thank you Chichi."
As Maeve approached the bed Chica let out a small moan and opened her eyes. She sat up rubbing her eyes sleepily and blinking rapidly seeing Maeve sit on the bed. "Hey kidlet how are you feeling?"
"Maeve? What's going on..." Chica's voice faded as her memories hit her sleep clouded mind like a sledge hammer. She sucked in a deep breath and Maeve quickly grabbed her face gently her palms resting on her cheeks.
"Easy Chica its okay. Everyone is all right. Take a deep breath and try to stay calm." Maeve said seeing the beginnings of a panic attack she had had enough to know the signs. Chica's body shook as she took deep breaths as Maeve hugged her tightly. Soon she heard her sobbing softly and Chica clutched her tightly. Maeve stroked her hair "Its okay Chi, I'm here. I love you you're okay."
After a few minutes Chica calmed down enough for Maeve to let her go. She looked up at her sister with teary eyes. "Maeve I'm scared. I'm scared about this power inside of me. I could hurt someone." Chica said
"You're right Chica you could but so could anybody else in this world. Just because you have special powers doesn't mean you'll hurt anyone more than anyone else. The important thing is you need to learn how to control it." Maeve said gently
"But I don't want too do it anymore." Chica whimpered
"Chica you have too."
"B-but..."
"Enough. You have a special power that is strong and it doesn't matter what you want anymore. You're not a child and you need to take responsibility and learn how to control it. There is no other option." Maeve lectured her with a sharp edge but a gentle tone.
Chica sniffled wiping her eyes "Okay."
"I know its scary Chica but you're not going to do this alone. Mirai, Goku, and I are going to help you. Goten too." Maeve said with a smile
Chica frowned "Not Goten, he doesn't like me."
"Oh yeah? Well he was super worried about you when I was on my way up here stopped me in the hallway and everything."
Chica brightened up hearing those words "Really? He did?"
"Yep." Maeve said with a smile and right away she saw the issue here. Chica liked Goten and Trunks liked Chica. Whether or not Goten liked Chica was the next thing but right now she saw why Trunks had gotten upset. She inwardly rolled her eyes and mentally blamed the hormones all three of them were facing.
Chica blushed a little but smile slightly "Well he is my bestfriend."
"See? Anyways I'm going to ask the Son's if we can stay here tonight. You need to rest now lay back down and go to sleep for a little while longer and than we'll see about getting you something to eat." Maeve said and as if on queue Chica gave a big yawn.
"Okie doke." Chica said and laid back down her heavy eye lids drooping.
Maeve pulled the covers up and kissed her cheek before leaving the room. Chica was going to be all right it seemed but it did little to stop the worry settling in the pit of her stomach.
