Hey My Magical Rainbow Unicorns! I will be trying to update tomorrow or Friday as well. You've all been so patient. Enjoy!
Chapter 10: An Old Friend
Tris' POV:
In the silent hall it takes me a minute to process the reality of the news Lynn brought me. It isn't possible. I spent months searching and she was nowhere to be found. My mouth finally allows itself to ask the one question I have wanted the answer to for what feels like centuries.
"Where?" I ask, my voice sounding small and desperate.
"The old warehouse by the docks in Abnegation. It's the building where they keep all the records of everyone and everything that ever boarded a ship departing from or arriving at the docks. Someone goes into the warehouse once a month to deposit that months records, but other than that the area is unoccupied."
The docks! I never thought to check in the warehouse. I had forgotten it was even there with all of the trees blocking it from view in the center of Abnegation. My eyes turned cold and fury laced my voice as I demanded the answer to my next question.
"Who was it?" Lynn didn't need me to elaborate. She knew I wanted her to tell me who the kidnappers are.
"It's Eric and Peter. Both are from Dauntless," Lynn tells me. "I did some digging after I saw them in the warehouse and found these pictures."
Lynn pulls out two worn pictures from under her cloak and hands them to me. One is of a tall, extremely muscular man with tattoos etched across his skin, and piercings covering most of his face. He looks to be a few years older than me. At the bottom in Lynn's not so neat handwriting it said Eric. The second picture is of a man around my age with a disturbing sneer set on his face, and eyes so full of venom and hate I felt a chill crawl up my spine. Lynn wrote Peter at the bottom of this photo.
"Do you know them?" Lynn asks.
The men look oddly familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on it. "I know I have seen them before. I just don't…" I trail off as my eyes widen in recognition.
"What is it?" Lynn questions, concern filling the usually sharp features of her face.
"They are the ones who tried to kidnap me eight years ago at my house when I went back to get the knife."
"Are you sure it's the same guys?"
"Absolutely! It was dark so I couldn't make out their entire faces, but I'll never forget the way Eric's piercings glinted in the moonlight, or Peter's sneer as he sliced my back with his sword when I tried to escape."
Gasps sound from around the room. I had forgotten everyone in the house was here, and now they stared at me wide-eyed with their mouths gaping.
"So that's how you got that scar!" Uriah exclaimed.
I swallowed back my sudden nervousness at the thought of their judgment and whip back around to face Lynn.
In a tone of authority I say, "Lynn if you would please explain everything to them starting with the escape from my house to the cottage, I will return shortly."
I briskly walk to my bedroom and change into all black clothing. Long skinny jeans that are flexible to run in, a t-shirt, sneakers, and a light jacket. Then I quickly pull my hair into a sloppy French braid, and placing Edith in the holster on my hip, a sword across my back, and throwing some rope over my shoulder, I make my way back downstairs.
As I stride to the staircase I clutch the P on my charm bracelet, whispering into the dimly lit hallway, "I promised I will always find you, and I never break a promise."
There will be a lot of girl power in the next few chapters, so check for updates! Also, I know a lot of you probably don't bother to read the AN but I was wondering if my writing was really any good. My friend says it is, but her opinion is biased because she personally knows me. Could you tell me what you think, and be honest because I really want to know your opinion. Constructive criticism will only help me. Thanks! xoxo- Livy
