I offer another chapter to my lovely readers! :) Thanks for those who reviewed especially to Lightningbolto for understanding. :))) Anyways, Please enjoy( I hope you will) and don't forget to tell what you think. That is, if you have the time to spare. :)
It was an evening like any other. Nothing usual came around. The city remains silent as nothing really important goes about at this point of the day. The Maple family of four, although losing one member which was May did their own businesses at their own pace. Max was nowhere to be found within the first floor of their house. It's most probable that he remains in his room, not budging even one bit as he caved in his room, occupied with whatever it is he's been busy about since this morning. Norman looked like he had nothing better to do as he wore a pathetically lazy expression, resting himself on the large sofa with a remote held by his hand, browsing through the variety of channels their television could provide for his entertainment. As for the mother of the house, she had only finished placing the final touches on the dining table, coming out of the kitchen with the silverware, arranging them an placing them neatly on the table.
"Hey Norman, dear…Ash and May's still not home. It's almost eight in the evening and there's not a singles sign of where they are. Where could they possibly be at this time?" Caroline inched closer to Norman, taking a seat on the large sofa beside him, worried about the whereabouts of her daughter and Ash. She was obviously getting all tensed up but though it's actually a normal reaction, considering a guy and a girl in their pubescent era went out together in the city. As much as she wanted to stop jumping to conclusions, she can't, not even if she was well aware of Ash's character being way out for him to even do those sorts of things.
"I think those two are just fine. Knowing Ash, he's probably too pure to even know how to do that." Norman sounded quite sure of his claims, not even showing a glint of worry in his eyes.
"I know that but still…how can you be so relaxed? Does the two of them doing that not even cross your head even for a fraction of a second?" Caroline barely resisted the urge to snap at her husband.
"Not a bit." Norman grumbled, waving his hand nonchalantly in the air, transferring the channel of the television yet again; Caroline sighed. All she could do now is just sit things out, as much as her mind was bugging about her endlessly about this matter. Not that she don't trust her daughter but she still can't ward off the feeling of being perturbed. She calmed her nerves, focusing her attention to the television, playing with her fingers without her full awareness.
Silence reigned for a short while after that. Only the contraption in front of the couple created sound. That is, until a particular duo busted the door open with a loud bang that could put even an exploding firecracker to shame. The sudden outburst nearly made Caroline's heart bulge out of her systems.
Both May and Ash looked like a mess. Droplets of sweat poured down from their faces as they panted as they desperately try to catch their breaths which were noticeably irregular. Ash wore his red cap in a peculiar manner while May's bandanna was unworn, held by her hand, unfolded and crumpled.
"See, I told you they're going to do it." Caroline said to Norman before rushing off towards the duo, crossing her arms sternly. "Aren't you too young to do those kinds of things?" She batted an eye at Ash first and then May. Of course, they could see that the elder brunette isn't in the best of her mood but they didn't quite get where she's coming from.
"Contrary to that." Ash responded, gasping while at the same time chuckling, taking of his cap as he waved it in the face of May with a smirk. "I think I felt like I was back to elementary…how dare you, May. Thinking you could steal my protection from me."
May's condition wasn't far off of Ash. She was also holding on her breath. "Well, you did have fun! We should do it again!" She exclaimed, elbowing Ash playfully as they both fell to a fit of laughter.
Caroline couldn't stop herself from hitting herself with a mallet mentally. Since when was that kind of thing suited for Elementary kids? Only married couples should do it and they actually did it. What's more, they thought it was something for kids? The elder brunette couldn't help it anymore. Her consciousness slipped away as her eyes began to shut. She was about to fall on her back before being caught in Ash and May's arms. It was evident that they had astounded faces, greatly shocked that the woman fainted right in front of them.
"Hey, Dad! Has mom been overworking again? I told you to watch over her always when she works herself to the extreme!" May yelled at Norman who couldn't figure whether he should laugh at this or feel worried. Slapping his palm softly to his forehead, he shook his head.
"That's not the case, though." Norman explained, lifting his wife princess-style and laid her on the sofa. "She just misinterpreted things. I just know you two wouldn't do those kinds of things but I guess she had every right to be worried. What do you think she should think about when you're out at this time of the night?" Norman scolded. Of course he knew his wife was overacting but she's not completely fault at here. What kind of mother could sit so contently while her daughter in her adulthood goes out with a guy of nearly the same age? Guys have these hormones so no sane mother could possibly react so lightly about this matter. Norman's aware of this so he couldn't resist but sermon the two.
"What's mom thinking about, anyway? Did she even think I'd be that much of a slut to do that?" The younger brunet might've felt slightly offended of that.
"What's happening? I don't really get your conversation. What're you referring to whenever you say that?" Ash, being the oblivious one obviously couldn't keep up with the conversation at all which only fueled his curiosity.
May sighed dramatically. "It's funny when you're so naive at these kinds of things, Ash!"
"Hey! I'm sorry for being dense. It's not like I can help it." Ash pouted. May proceeded to tease him further by pinching his cheeks forcefully, leaving that particular swollen.
"That hurts!" Ash whined, rubbing his cheek and looking irritably at May.
Around an hour passed and Caroline started to flutter her eyes open. Slowly, she analyzed her surroundings, realizing that she was lying on the sofa with May beside her, observing her, "Oh, mom. You're finally awake!" May's voice perked up.
Caroline, still a bit dazed blinked, looking around with her eyes. She then remembered her greatest source of worry. "Did you do it?" Her voice was shrill, frantically shaking the younger brunette as she grabbed her by her arm.
"Hey, mom. We didn't do anything!" This time, May's now the one displaying annoyance, putting both her hands to her waist. "Ash doesn't even know where you're coming from until he left just a couple of minutes ago!" Since the atmosphere is serious, May had to urge herself not to burst into laughing to which she did but just barely.
"What…?" Dumbfounded, Caroline now felt embarrassed. She couldn't believe that the thought of her daughter doing that kind of smutty activity even reached her head. Even more so, guilt overcame her body for losing trust in her daughter. Her husband Norman was able to handle the situation but she reacted way over the top. "Sorry, May! I was just worried! It's your fault for going home late! I couldn't keep my cool. If you're with your lady friends, I wouldn't react so violently over this!"
As much as May hated of being blamed, she shouldn't argue further over this as she realized her mother's point, as much as she didn't want to put things at that. "Yeah, sorry for going home late…" May apologized, caressing her mother.
"Sure, but you obviously had a great time with your elementary crush!" Her mother, just moments being so overly emotional was now teasing her daughter. "Think about it! Ash's your dream guy before and now he's back!"
"Mom! That was several years ago! I'm not some crazy shoujo manga character that bears a crush for that long! Besides, he doesn't even remember me!" The younger brunette retorted a bit defensively. Being the mother that she is, this didn't slip by unnoticed at all.
"Can't help but feel offended, I see? Don't worry! You have a lot of time to make him fall for you. You just need to get around his stupidity when it comes to love!" May's mother was pushing this issue further and May isn't exactly a fan of this topic.
"Not funny, mom!" May's tone was giving away too much. Her pitch was too high in comparison to her usual and the same could be said for her face. She was actually blushing but only a light a shade of red. "I wouldn't bother! I'm not desperate for a boyfriend just yet."
"Yeah, just 'yet'…You'll feel it soon."
It seems Caroline didn't want to hear the rest of whatever her daughter has to say, waving goodbye when she finished her last statement, turning to face oppositely of the brunette, leaving her with a playful wink which held a specific meaning May understood but shrugged it off. She was about to head off before a knock from their door rung through their whole residence. Neither did May nor Caroline had a single clue who would bother visiting them at this part of the night. May was quick to dash to the door, opening it to attend to whoever that person could be. It was none other than Ash. He had this distraught expression all over his face and not even the most idiotic person would fail to identify that.
"I have a very big problem…"
Cliffhanger. Sorry but I personally think there's something strange about how I wrote it but when I read it, I can't tell so that's why please readers! Help me out! :3 To be honest, I appreciate it more if you review with friendly suggestions rather than compliments. Not that I hate compliments. 'Who doesn't like being praised?'
