The Half: Redirecting- Chapter 10: Unwelcome
A few days had passed and the half Djinn was now to find herself on a cargo ship. She was fortunate to awake before she had been captured, but only by a minutes, with their footsteps outside the door. She had made haste to wrap herself in bandages, and then to cover herself with a sheet. Swiftly she was assisted in leaving with several of the other Fanails who would not be taking part in the interrogation. Not mush was spoken, but they did their best in helping her to make her travels to the harbor, and then to aboard a ship within the night. The cargo ship would be making several stops, leaving even more room for her whereabouts to expand. It was to all fall to her now, where she went and how she went about to where she was going.
She stood at the side of the current cargo ship; it was now her third one. Switching once at another harbor in Reim and another at a small area she knew not of. But it made little difference, since she didn't even stay a day's worth in it. Titus had given her just enough to get by, but never for anything too fancy. The cost of food had to come from that money as well, and even new bandages were a small amount. Her once bright blue eyes were now dulled with grayness as she looked out from the ship. Her body still covered with a cloak to hide her body and face. Most of her body was covered in bandages, both to help some wound stay closed, as well as to act as a holding for new bandages for when they were needed. Her mind to wander as the cargo ship bobbed up and down as it sailed.
"You need to be careful for a long while, as well, Miss Kyo. You're body is too weak to rely on your own power to heal you or even protect you. You'll be unable to use any magic for a long while, or at least till you find someone to help transfer some of their own energy to you. I think your body absorbed in some of the Rukh from Muu and his blade, and that's what helped to keep you from being sliced in half. Whatever you do, do not use any magic. The braid in your hair has even faded almost all black. If you retaliate against others, and use magic more in anger, it will consume you. You can't rely on yourself for a while…"
Titus' last pep talk wasn't one to bring comfort to her, but at least now she had the warning. A long blink made her turn to look to the black braid that took more black than blue in the small length. Thanks to Yamaraiha, she had it reduced to a braid, and not her whole hair, since the Kou incident. It made her think of Judar and his long thick black hair, which only made her feel a bit angered. Feeling angry was alright, since it didn't affect her hair, but holding back in using magic might become a problem if she gets stuck between a rock and a hard place.
She sighed. When would she get back to Sindria? Or was this a hint from the Rukh to have her redirect herself? Her nephew was more of a wanderer rather than one to claim one place as his home. Maybe she should do the same, as one who shared blood with King Solomon. Was she opened to using other magic like her older brother, or was it only all to fall to Aladdin? Was she to change the world as well and help prevent this world from becoming like her home world?
She sighed again. Her shoulders to droop and she hung her head for a moment. The light sound of a bell dinged from above her head, and dragged her attention to look now to the captain who steered the ship. He didn't seem to care much for her being there, as long as she wasn't to cause trouble and paid her way. She had to make due in finding her own place to rest at night, which was to now be a third night. They would be stopping close to Sindria in two more days, and from there she would be taking a smaller cargo ship. Never was she to think of taking a passenger ship, it seemed to obvious in using when she was on the run still, and cargo ships had been something that she had used since she was brought to this world from the Dungeon. They gave her a sense of peace and led to work usually, as well as less people to be traveling by them.
Night would draw near once more, and she needed to tend to her wounds again. The cut across her mid area was still deep, and made her slow in moving, but was still thick in bleeding. She wouldn't be even able to run if she needed to. But luckily the situation had come up yet and hopefully never, while she was still recovering.
A loud dinging noise shouted in the ocean air, and made Kyo forced into opening her eyes. The day had finally come. Sindria's harbor was now within her eye's reach, as a smile of gratefulness curled at her lips. There had been an extra 2 days needed in getting to Sindria. The last harbor had no set ships to go out for 2 more days, and left her to wait in fear that someone would catch her. Her body had thinned more than it ever had before. She couldn't work to make money, and couldn't even show her face in fear that someone would say something. By word of ear, she had over heard that she was being sought after by the Reim Empire. Several fliers had a rough sketch of her on them, meaning that she was still being chased after, even though over a week had pass since she left Reim. Her hopes in getting to Sindria made her more anxious. She hadn't had food in almost 2 days at this point, only enough money to get to Sindria. Fate shined on her for captains who were too greedy to care who got on their ship, and cared not for whom the person might be.
"Sindria…" She sighed lightly with hope. The sight of the ropes being tossed to the main deck made her only want to get off at that moment and hurry to the Palace as quickly as she could, or even to find someone close, perhaps one of the 7 generals, that could help her back to a place that she knew she was safe. Sinbad wouldn't judge her for a crime that she wasn't willing to do.
"All ashore~!" The captain announced, as a loading plank was thrown off and men of his crew began to unload what they were delivering; forcing Kyo to wait a while and allow them to work before she could get off without having to get shoved around. Her wounds were still unclosing, and she was unsure if they were even becoming infected some. The last thing she needed was to rip them open more than they needed to be. Her body was weak, from lack of strength and hunger, her body with slight trembles of uneasiness as she waited her turn. And soon, it was.
She left the ship slowly with the hustle gone to a minimal as she slowly pulled her hood off. There was no need to hide herself anymore, right? Sindria was where she started in getting to know many others. The cloak she used was dirty as can be, and that too, was pulled off and thrown away. She felt free, as her eyes lit up slightly as she looked to the Palace. Her hair was pulled into a low ponytail, and most of her body still wrapped in bandages as she wore another sheet that had been made to look like a dress. Something that very much reminded her of the way Morigana dressed herself. Her old clothes were left behind, and she was given this to help hide her more. But even with the bandages, and new outfit, several people on the dock recognized her.
Kyo's eyes slowly came to look through the crowd as she looked for any familiar faces. A small smile of hope on her lips soon faded as knitted eyebrows looked at her.
"That's her…!" a man said, and pointed to her. Kyo's reaction made her glance around herself thinking they were pointing to another.
"That's the woman who brought misfortune to us!"
"She's a thief!"
"And she took off to leave our King and left him to wonder where she was, making him grieve! She's was just using him!"
More glares came to fill the crowd as several men and even women came to form a small half circle about her. Her nerves pushing the half Djinn back as she walked backwards on the small dock area.
"N-no…! I'm innocent..!" she protested, but they seemed unconvinced as she only backed up more.
"You caused trouble for our country!" one shouted and showed a fist.
"But I didn't mean to…!" she lifted her hands to cover in front of her as she continued to back up. But her awareness as to what was behind her was unknown, and she soon found herself falling back into a small shop of fishing gear. A sharp flinch made her stomach seep more into the bandages as fishing hooks hooked onto her skin in the back and her sides. Several fishing spears fell across her and left small cuts across her nose, cheek, and the side of her face. A small pain filled whimper came from her lips as she looked much in pain.
"Serves you right!" a man yelled as he pulled his foot back and kicked into her side.
"Ya!" A few others agreed and they too began to join in at kicking and hitting at her. Some to even pull at her hair and make chunks of hair come from the ponytail.
"Please…!" she begged as she closed her eyes and curled up on her side as she could only endure at their attacks. She couldn't use magic, she couldn't fight back, and she couldn't even run away. "Please….! I'm sorry…!" she cried but her words were empty to their ears.
To be continued….
