Chapter 10 – Prologue

Sasuke once again found himself cleaning yet another wine glass as the quiet bar was filled only with older people or lonely business men popping in after work. The only difference though was the gushing he could hear coming from the kitchen; smirking he set the glass down as a customer heading towards the bar.

Meanwhile in the kitchen, Hidan, Deidara and Sakura were gushing over a small, but stunning ring sat on Naruto's left hand. He still couldn't quite believe it himself – the night before, Sasuke had treated him to a fancy dinner before walking through Naruto's favourite park in the moonlight.

That was all before the raven got down on one knee.

~The Night Before~

Naruto stood fidgeting with his tie, a striking orange with flames at the bottom – at least it made his black suit look less serious.

Arms wrapped around his waist and a head rested softly on his shoulder, onyx eyes staring back at him through the mirror. "You look great, let's go" Grinning, Naruto left his tie alone and made sure he had everything he needed before following the Uchiha out of his, no, their place.

He still couldn't quite believe, even after 6 months that he was living with Sasuke, that they were moving forwards in their life – together.

Soon they arrived at the restaurant, Naruto's favourite, because it was the first place Sasuke had even taken him out to. It was fancy and had the most divine French food, even if Naruto would have been ok with simple Ramen, he loved that Sasuke treated him now and then. It made him feel undeniably special.

A waiter led them to a private elevator, taking them to the balcony where a small table sat, a single rose in a vase in the centre. The edges of the balcony were lit with small candles, illuminating the otherwise dim night.

Naruto let out a shaky breath, he was not expecting this, it was so romantic, the exact opposite of his normally stoic lover.

Sitting across from Sasuke, a menu was placed infront of each other them and Sasuke ordered a bottle of red, not bothering to even open his menu. They would get their usual, it marked an occasion for them, though Naruto wasn't entirely sure what the occasion was yet.

The meal was exquisite, as always and Naruto often found himself staring at his lover. He truly was a sight under the moonlight, pale skin illuminated, dark eyes reflecting all of his emotions back at him.

Reaching out, Sasuke grasped his hand and stood, motioning his head towards the exit. Raising an eyebrow, Naruto followed in silence, basking in the moment. Usually they hung around having coffee for an hour or so after dinner, but Sasuke seemed strangely eager to leave so soon.

They walked hand in hand towards the nearby park, with the swan lake that Naruto adored during summer.

"The stars are so pretty tonight" Naruto gushed, grinning excitedly at his boyfriend, who 'hned' in response but smiled softly at the giddy expression.

The park was pretty much empty save for a few people passing through or loitering in small groups, it was peaceful just as Sasuke had hoped. He wasn't going to lie, he was nervous – not nervous that Naruto would say no, but nervous as to how this would change things, make then so final.

They would be committing to spend their whole lives together, as husbands and it was a mature decision to make.

Finding an empty bench near the glistening pond, they sat basking in the near silence of the park. Sasuke was subconsciously bounced his knee in time with his rapid thoughts that were flitting around his mind like a hurricane. It was only when Naruto's hand grasped his knee that he was pulled from his thoughts, a worried expression on the blonde's face.

"You ok?" Sasuke smirked and nodded, before taking a deep breath and standing moving infront of Naruto before he could move.

The blonde shot him a confused look when he was stopped from standing too, thinking that their date was over. His world slowed down when Sasuke descended to one knee, reaching into his inner pocket and pulling out a small black box.

He couldn't breathe, he couldn't move; his mind was racing and he wanted to laugh and cry at the same time.

"Naruto Uzumaki. Would you do me the honour of marrying me?" The words were nearly whispered and although he never looked away from Naruto, the uncertainty was clear.

"Of course I will!" Naruto practically yelled, startling a young couple passing along the rode behind them. Sasuke smiled and stood, placing the ring on Naruto's finger and stealing a soft kiss.

"I love you Dobe" They embraced, Naruto letting a few tears slip loose. "More than you know"
