Woah, hello everyone. I dare not look how long it has been since I last updated, I hope you can all forgive me. I got completely stumped on where the story was going, and had no inspiration or motivation to try and continue writing.
However with a few messages from you guys that I finally got round to reading and a session of brainstorming with some friends we saw the light, and so here I am, and I'm actually going to try and finish this fic! I hope some of you are still following and you'll continue reading. I'm aware my writing in this chapter isn't great, it's been a long time since I wrote anything creative at all and so all my language is a little shabby, but I hope you can look past that. Please favourite and follow if you aren't already, and of course review! I'll be updating again asap, so look forward to it! :D
Warnings: None this chapter, but the whole story has nsfw scenes, yaoi, and triggering topics.
Song to listen to while reading (if you like!): Home by Gabrielle Aplin.
Weeks pass and I find nothing. The tapes have been replayed over and over, until the second has started to freeze half way because it is being worn down. I go back to all the places I found the tapes originally, visiting several times and checking to see if there are any clues I hadn't seen.
I become a regular at Kohi Coffee, and on my 6th trip there I decide to ask Iruka if he has any idea. He tells me the boy's name, "Naruto". He is tall and tanned with messy blonde hair and blue eyes. But Iruka has no idea where he is, and it has been over two years since anyone Iruka knows has seen Naruto. For all we know he could be dead.
It doesn't deter me; I need to find him, or at least find out what happened to him. He's a bit older than me, if he is still alive, but in the school records, and that of all the nearby high-schools I find no trace of him, and everyone I ask shake their heads, apologising that they have never met or heard of any him.
I even visit the foster home on the outskirts of town, asking if they've ever had a "Naruto Uzumaki" but they say no, and if they did they wouldn't be able to disclose private information to a "stranger" anyway. I check all the phone books, all the papers, look him up online to see if he is on any social networks, even ask Itachi if he knows any way to find a person that has seemingly vanished.
But there is almost nothing, only a few newspaper articles from years ago about the murder of his parents and his adoptive father Jiraiya. I'm surprised to find his parents were pretty well known, his father a leading Neurosurgeon at the local hospital and his mother an Orthopaedic nurse. They'd both been highly respected and his father had even won an award for his outstanding work and commitment.
The newspaper says that he was "A step above the rest and another like him will not be seen for a long time." Pretty impressive, and yet everyone had just allowed his son to go to ruins? It makes my blood boil, that a small child could be disregarded in such a way.
What surprises me even more is that I can find no articles on the incident with Mizuki. A horrible crime was committed to a boy who had past history with this type of thing, and the media didn't swarmed? Weird. I come to the conclusion the whole thing must have been covered up for Naruto's sake, but that means that my only information on his whereabouts comes from an article written more than 7 years ago. Not helpful.
A month passes since I found the last tape and still I have nothing. I'm giving up hope that I will ever find him.
I haven't told any of my friends how I came across "Naruto" or why I want to find him, only asking if they knew anyone with that name, and when they said they didn't, I dropped the subject.
They know something is up though. I am so preoccupied, my grades are slipping and my conversational levels are like that of a 6 year old. I drift in and out of conversation, the whole time my mind on the spiral boy.
"Oh yeah guys, has anyone seen any good acts on at the garage? I haven't checked in a while but I don't wanna miss out." Suigetsu says as I finally tune back into the conversation taking place.
Sui is noisy, obnoxious and mean but for some reason we get along pretty well. We've been friends for about 3 years now and despite a few arguments, which sometimes results in me whooping his ass, we've stayed close.
"I'll look it up now."
I turn to see Karin on her phone, thumbs tapping away at an impressive pace. Me and her go way back, and it hasn't always been sweet. We've been in the same school for several years and she'd been the number one member of my "fan-club" and had practically stalked me. I hated her up until 10th grade, but after she stopped being so obsessed with me and dating Suigetsu, we became friends and it has been fine ever since.
The last person I consider a close friend is Juugo, who is currently sat quietly at the corner of our table, watching in fascination as a ladybird climbs along his finger. He is a huge guy, towering above all of us at around 6 foot 7 inches, and with enough muscle to make even the toughest of men feel intimidated. Despite his appearance, he is the gentlest person I've ever met. Well, unless you try to harm any of the rest of us. Then he goes hulk and you regret the day you were born.
"Ah ha! Found it." Karin calls out, a smile on her face. "Let's see, shall I just, like, read the list instead of trying to figure out who likes who?"
We nod unenthusiastically, knowing she'll go off track anyway.
"Okay: there's Haim on the 24th, some random old guy and his puppets, a crappy looking comedy act, Mayday Parade, ooh! Azealia Banks is playing later next month!" Suigetsu groans but is cut short as Karin elbows him in the ribs.
"Where was I...DJ Rasta, Gong, Spare-ra? I think that's how you say it.."
"It's Speíra." I say without thinking, before realising what it means. "Hey Karin can I look at that?"
"At Speíra?" She asks, speaking slowly to get the name right. "Do you know them?"
"No I just..want to check something."
"Alright...Just don't go checking through my texts and pictures okay!"
She passes me her phone and I click on the name of the band, bringing me onto a new webpage. There's a picture of a poster, the word "speíra" at the top in scratching orange lettering, and a bunch of text underneath. But that isn't what I'm looking at. For in the midst of the dark background, covered by white text and dates, is a large orange spiral.
My mind is racing, but I'm drawn from my thoughts by Suigetsu.
"Sasuke, is does Speera even mean?"
"It's pronounced Speíra, and it's Greek for spiral."
Hopefully that wasn't too shabby? Please let me know what you think by reviewing and if you have any requests/ideas also let me know. Also please tell me if you like having a recommended song at the top! Thanks so much for reading.
