The Other Worlds of Us

World 2 - The Adverse of Them: The second world that the Inu-gang find themselves in, wouldn't prepare them for what they hear. What has happened to the Kagome they usually know, this world's version of the miko is certainly different. What has happened to this world's Inuyasha. What about the rest of the group?
Disclaimer: I do NOT own inuyasha!

Eyelids squinted as rays of light shined in the hut where a miko had laid on a futon. A damp washcloth was on her forehead and she could feel a small hand holding her hand tightly.
"Inuya?"
"I'm right here Haha-ue," the little hand gripped stronger than before.
"Where is your sister?"
"Izayoi isn't here, she's outside talking with the strange people that came to our village. Haha-ue, why does that man look like Chichi-ue?"
The miko's eyelids snapped open in the memory of the newcomers, the man who looked like her husband, it couldn't be him at all.
"Inuya, stay here," the miko sat up slowly, the room was spinning and her head felt as if she was hit by a ton of bricks.
"Kagome-sama is recovering," Tomoya said to the group who waited patiently outside the hut where the miko stayed.
"I hope Kagome-san is doing fine, she must have been shocked when seeing our friend," Miroku said, he had his grip on his shakujō staff, turning to the headman with a stern look.
Tomoya made a side glance at the hanyō, whom had his hands in the long sleeves of his fire rat robe. Inuyasha turned his head and 'keh-ed' when the head man looked his way.
"I do not blame him, your friend there looks awfully like the hanyō who protected this village a year ago," Tomoya said.
Sango held Kirara and stroked her fur and turned her head to the miko beside her,"What do you think happened to this world's Inuyasha?"
Kagome stared down at the ground and shuffled uneasily on her feet,"I'm not sure Sango-chan, it is all too confusing for me to understand."
"Tomoya-san," a voice said, heading to the group and they noticed a young girl with sleek black hair wearing a light pink kimono, she appeared to be not older than eight years old. She was barefoot and around her obi was a small sword. She looked similar to the young girl who had rushed to Kagome-sama's side earlier.
Upon hearing the girls voice, Tomoya shifted his position and smiled at her,"Hello Izayoi-chan, have you been patrolling the village grounds."
Inuyasha hastily turned his head in the girl's direction.
Izayoi bowed,"Yes I have, but once I heard what happened to my haha-ue, I quickly came. Is she alright?"
"Need not to worry child, your Okaa-san is doing just fine, but she must need more rest," Tomoya informed her.
Izayoi nodded,"I see then. Thank you Tomoya-san."
The girl pivoted to her left and fled inside the hut. The wrinkles of the elder headman showed happiness and he smiled,"That girl is just like her father. Every morning the two set out to patrol the village for any youkai who threatened us. She has done so ever since she turned four."
Sango was concerned, the girl was far to young to fight any youkai. "But she is only just a child."
"Ay, but she has demon blood in her veins and she is proud of it. Ever since her father had disappeared -"
"But Kagome-san had said he died," Miroku cut in, his eyes widened and he bowed his head,"Forgive me, it was rude of me to stop you short from speaking."
Tomoya raised a hand and shook his head,"It's alright young monk. Ay, some say he has passed on, others say he disappeared. No one really knows except Kagome-sama."
"If you don't mind me asking, where is the village healer?" Sango asked, if her suspicions were correct, Kaede-ba-chan must be around somewhere.
Tomoya looked down crestfallen,"Kaede-san passed over five years ago when a group of oni demons came when Kagome-sama was delivering her daughter Inuya."
"Haha-ue," Izayoi opened the door flap and walked into the hut. The eight year old noticed her mother sitting up with her hand on her forehead. Hastily, she rushed to her mother's side with her demonic speed,"Are you alright, Haha-ue?"
Kagome smiled at her daughter, using her other hand to touch her daughter's cheek soothingly,"I'm fine sweetheart. Is the village doing well. I'm sorry I didn't have the chance to patrol with you my daughter."
Izayoi shook her head, her long black hair spilled over her shoulders,"It is okay mother. I was speaking with those strangers. Where do you suppose they came from?" Her black ears twitched to listen to the conversation outside, but they twitched in her mother's direction to catch her voice.
Inuya damped the tip of the washcloth and patted her mother's forehead softly. Kagome smiled at her youngest child, closing her eyes before answering. "I am not sure where, but it must have been that flash of light I've seen earlier."
"I noticed it as well," Izayoi said, turning her head over her shoulder, Could it be that Chichi-ue finally came back to us? Did oji-san return him to us?
Kagome noticed the confusion in her daughter's face and patted her daughter's hand,"It is all well, how about we invite them to eat. They must be hungry and they might need a place to rest for the night."
Izayoi nodded and got up from the floor,"I'll ask them. Inuya, keep mother company and call me if anything happens." Inuya, the five year old girl with long silver hair and dog ears, looked up from the bowl of water and gave her sister a curt nod.
Opening the door flap to exit, Izayoi smiled at the travelers,"You are welcome to stay in our hut for the time being."
Miroku smiled at the girl,"You are a smart young one."
The girl slightly blushed, no one had said that to her before and she scratched her cheek. Then in a swift movement, the monk was face to face with a growling hanyō. "Miroku, don't you try anything, you know fully well who she is," he said.
Miroku held his hands in the air in defeat,"No harm done my friend. I was just merely commenting on her way of speech and intelligence."
Kagome and Sango exchanged glances and went over to Izayoi. "Thank you Izayoi-chan, for letting us stay here. We apologize on the behalf of our friends," Kagome said, smiling to the girl.
Izayoi nodded,"Come in, my haha-ue will be serving rice balls for everyone, you all must be hungry."
Inuyasha and Miroku stopped their bickering and settled down, and walked into the semi-big hut that Izayoi led them in to. "Haha-ue, here they are," Izayoi informed her mother, she turned to the others and asked them if they could take off their footwear.
Kagome slipped out of the brown shoes and placed them by the door and waited for the others to do the same, once they did - they walked by the two children who sat on the wooden ground. Awkwardly, in such a situation as theirs, Inuyasha placed his hands in the loose sleeves of his haori and stared up at the ceiling.
"Thank you sweetheart," their attention went to the miko who went over to the cauldron and smiled at them. "I'm sorry if I caused any trouble earlier," she had said, stirring the stew that was in the big pot.
"Not at all Kagome-san," Miroku said, when he was offered a bowl of stew by Inuya who shyly had each and everyone of them a bowl.
"Thank you," their Kagome told the young girl and she quickly went back to where she sat priorly.
Occasionally, Inuyasha would glance at Izayoi and Inuya, and at the future Kagome of this world. His eyes would always trail back to his miko companion would quickly break his gaze when she would look at him in the corner of her eye.
The mother of the two girls turned around to face them all,"Where exactly did you come from?"
Kagome placed the bowl on her lap and noticed that her friends were looking at her, she then looked up at her future self,"We came from five years before Naraku was defeat, at least that was what Tomoya-sama said that he was defeated."
"Actually, it has been ten years since we have fought Naraku. Tomoya-sama hasn't been here in so long and tends to confuse the story," her older self said, turning her back on them and she sighed.
It's been five years since I've seen my husband, and the first time I see him again, he's from another time, how ironic, She had a graceful smile on her lips and placed the wooden spoon over the cauldron.
Kagome- the older one - looked out the window and clasped her hands together,"Izayoi, I must leave now. I'll be right back in five minutes," the older miko said, then leaving the hut and the people in it confused.
"Haha-ue does night patrols, since our Chichi-ue disappeared she has to look after the village, but I help her sometimes," Izayoi informed them. Sango smiled,"You must be very strong."
"I guess so, mama always said I am like my father, but Inuya is more like him," she said, pointing out the young girl who had fallen asleep by her side. Izayoi patted her sister's head and smiled,"I just wish Inuya had the chance to get to know Chichi-ue."
Inuyasha clenched his fist and got up, he turned to the door flap and walked out. Kagome was about to open her mouth to ask where he was going, but Miroku place a hand on her shoulder,"I think it is something that both he and your future self need to discuss. He is having trouble with this world, I know it."
Kagome nodded and looked at the door flap that moved because of the wind outside, Inuyasha… her eyes softened.
