Power Rangers – Tainted Stone

Chapter 10: Retaliations and Revelations

Dustin drops Emily off at a cliff and uses his Ninja speed to land on another cliff on the other side of the field. The two now have their morphers in their hand, ready to perform the seal at the first sign of Antis.

It is the only way the Seal will work properly. They must write the Symbol and activate it in the presence of Antis and they must be on opposite sides of him.

But he hasn't appeared yet. All they can do is wait. Hopefully, he shows up soon.

The Dragon Force vehicle drops the others off at the Shiba House, where Jii checks for any injuries. While he does that, Cam opens up his laptop, ready to assist Dustin and Emily by any means necessary. Dustin needs his Lion Zord, the Megazord, his ninja saber to be charged, he'll be there. The other Ninjas know what Cam is preparing for. The Samurai join the Ninjas in surrounding Cam, all watching the screen as the computer genius powers on the surveillance cameras in the area the two Yellow Rangers are in.

Antis finally gets a sense of where he is and what he is doing. He enters the outside world, the world outside his cave in the ground and he suddenly feels lost. He can feel his power draining now. He doesn't know how or why this is happening to him, and that's what makes him scared. He always has all the earth under his control.

Yet, in this moment, control over the earth is slipping out of his hands.

And he does not know the cause of it, and it frightens him. No matter what he does, he cannot get the sound of that flute out of his head, which still has him disoriented, though not as much as when the flute was actually playing. It's reverberating in his head and it's also giving him a headache.

He stomps the ground angrily, frustrated. Why is this happening to him now? As the earth rumbles beneath him, he begins to feel better, as each time he uses his power of earth, he gains part of his common sense back. Eventually, he realizes what's causing all of his pain and suffering.

In the midst of writing the Seal, the earth rumbles beneath the two Yellow Rangers. Emily tries her hardest not to yelp out loud in surprise and Dustin tries with all his might not to lose his balance.

But he regains his concentration, using the bond with both the earth and his friends to do so. He remembers...

Shane is giving him a fist-bump, both smiling as they watch Hunter go head-to-head with the other competers.

Tori is teaching him how to surf. Although he is failing at it, Tori keeps her calm, only laughing with him.

Cam is explaining the way a laptop works, boring both him and Shane to death. Despite Cam's annopyace at this, he only smiles and shakes his head, realizing that this is how they will always be.

Hunter is talking with him at the track, telling him of what he's doing wrong and what he could do better, in a friend-like tone, not in a critic's sense.

Blake is talking to him in the bike shop, trying to comfort him after the whole ordeal with Marah and her betrayal. He knows how much his Yellow friend is hurting, having been betrayed first hand as well.

Despite Antis trying to get to them, Dustin keeps working. He continues to write the symbol, the images of him with his friends and what they mean to him playing through his mind.

Emily regains her concentration. Memories flood her mind.

Mia is sparring with her, helping her get stronger. She knows that the younger girl has a better reason to fight than she herself does: for her sister, Serena.

Antonio is presenting her the big fish dinner he caught and made for her on her birthday. Bass, he knows, are her favorite. He says the dinner is also a thank-you gift for giving him a chance as a Ranger without second thought.

Mike is dragging her along in the line into Rainbow's End, the other three following along. It's her first roller coaster, so he wants her to have a great first experience. And she does.

Kevin is teaching her some complicated moves he had executed in battle just yesterday, like he promised. When she falls down, he doesn't laugh at her. Rather, he helps her back up, gives her a bag of frozen peas to heal the bruises, corrects her mistakes, and lets her try one more time.

Jayden is giving her the first hug he's ever given somebody. It's Jayden's birthday, before Antonio has arrived, and he is lonely on his birthday, as he does not have a family. Emily assures and comforts him, promising to be his friend, his family, from now on. The others agree and promise this as well and Jayden's birthday is a complete success.

A tear falls from Emily's eye. That day, they had discovered that all Jayden had wanted was company. That was really all everyone in the Shiba House wanted. Companionship. Friends. They are far away from their families and they are homesick. The only way to cure it was to become friends and lean on each other for support.

The earth continues to rumble, tremble, and shake beneath their feet, but Dustin and Emily continue. They don't give up. Not even when Antis speaks out loud to them for the first time.

"Well, well, you Rangers are pathetic, if you actually thought that annoying song would hold me forever!"

Five more strokes left, for them both. Come on, Emily tells herself. You can do this.

Neither of them says a word, keeping their concentration on the Seal.

Four more left.

The Seal was all that mattered. Antis was nothing. He was only an annoying distraction.

Three more left.

"Well, you two can't fight my poison forever. It'll take you both down very soon." Antis evilly chuckles.

Two more left.

Memories of their friends flood Dustin and Emily's entire minds now. This is for them. Meanwhile, in the Shiba House, the others are crossing their fingers, holding their breaths, praying that this Seal, whatever it is, will work.

One more left.

"What the – ?" Antis is surprised. "But...how is all this possible? You two are supposed to be dying! Hell, you're supposed to be dead right now!"

The last stroke has been finished. "Easy, really..." Dustin replies, finally in the mood to talk.

The two flip their symbols as Emily tells him, "Because you don't have any friends."

"Symbol Power: Earth Sealing Combination!"

There is a bright flash that blinds Antis temporarily and the earth trembles like it never has before. Antis suddenly feels very weak. He can't see anything. It's in this moment that he believes the Rangers have really won.

However, he won't be beaten so easily.

The two Rangers drop to their knees, exhausted from the amount of energy that had to use to make the seal work. Despite them being very tired, they both smile.

"That's it," Dustin mumbles. "It's over. We won."

But it was never that easy, right?

As Emily and Dustin catch their breath, breathing heavily from the strain, they hear a loud noise. It's like the very earth beneath them is shaking even though it's still and a gulping noise fills the air. The two yellows look at each other, even with their helmets covering their faces, knowing horror is present on them.

"Of course he has to go mega," mutters Dustin, struggling to his feet. "Of course."

"Well, it wouldn't be a battle without it," says Emily, smiling slightly. Dustin nods, noting the truth to her words.

A deep crater appears right under Antis's body, sinking down before bursting back up and consuming Antis. There's a bright flash of green and as the two rangers cover their eyes, Antis grows before them, looking even taller than a regular mega-monster.

"You really thought your pathetic seal would do anything to me?" Antis growls, spreading his arms out in front of him. "You guys have nothing on me!"

"Why is that always their attitude?" wonders Dustin, hands on his hips. "You'd think they'd know by now."

"Some people are just slow learners," Emily points out. She takes out the Black Box from where it's hooked on her belt and holds it in front of her. "Super Samurai Mode!" There's a flash and immediately she's outfitted in the so addressed mode. A surge of power rips through her, hopefully expelling the last of the poison from her body. She grips her Samuraizer tightly and starts to write her symbol. "Ape Folding Zord!"

"I really hope Cam programmed our zords to work too." Dustin presses a button on his morpher. "Cam? Can you hear me?"

~P~O~W~E~R~R~A~N~G~E~R~S~N~I~N~J~A~S~T~O~R~M~A~N~D~S~A~M~U~R~A~I~T~A~I~N~T~E~D~S~T~O~N~E~

"Dustin? Are you guys okay?" Cam asks, seeing Dustin and Emily on the monitors. He watches as Emily summons her zords.

"Cam? Are you seeing this?" Dustin is looking around and Cam nods, before remembering that Dustin can't see him.

"Yeah. We all are."

"Way to be, Dustin!" Shane barrels in, hoping the yellow ranger can hear him. Cam glares at him before turning his attention back to Dustin.

"You synched up our zords too, right?" asks Dustin nervously.

"Yup. Just do your normal call and you'll be able to control the whole Hurricane Megazord." He pauses.

"How did he do that?" Kevin looks at the green ranger admiringly.

"Unless you want us to help you, of course," adds Cam, already knowing the other's answer.

"No!" Dustin protests. "No, we got this. But the whole thing? Sweet!"

"He's so stubborn," comments Tori, holding Blake's hand tightly. Her nails had been digging into his palm through the whole fight with Antis but he didn't mind. Mia had been gripping Kevin's arm as well, not letting go even after his first life was vanquished.

"Don't we know it?" Cam rolls his eyes.

~P~O~W~E~R~R~A~N~G~E~R~S~N~I~N~J~A~S~T~O~R~M~A~N~D~S~A~M~U~R~A~I~T~A~I~N~T~E~D~S~T~O~N~E~

"Activating power Sphere – now!" Dustin is soon seated into the Hurricane Megazord, right beside Emily in the Samurai Gigazord.

"Are you ready for this?" she asks Dustin, feeling a little lonely in the gigantic zord. It's nice that they trust her to do it by herself – that's what she really wants – but it's lonely in the huge thing all by herself. Knowing that she has Dustin so close though helps calm her a little.

"Yeah, let's do this," he answers, trying to calm his unsteady nerves. Like Emily, he's never really piloted a whole zord by himself – besides his Lion zord, that is. It's a little…straining. But he can do it. He has to.

~P~O~W~E~R~R~A~N~G~E~R~S~N~I~N~J~A~S~T~O~R~M~A~N~D~S~A~M~U~R~A~I~T~A~I~N~T~E~D~S~T~O~N~E~

"Wow, they're actually doing pretty well," says Mike as he watches Antis take a hit from the Samurai Gigazord. He stumbles backwards and falls over.

"It has to be so tiring though," points out Jayden, his eyes never wavering from the zord that inside houses Emily. "To pilot the whole thing. All by themselves." Especially a Megazord that took up all the Rangers' powers like the Gigazord.

"They'll be fine," Antonio says dismissively even though inside he cares as much as the rest of them do. "Emily's strong and so is Dustin. They'll be here in no time."

"I hope you're right," mumbles Blake, watching his friend be knocked to the ground by one of Antis's slashes.

~P~O~W~E~R~R~A~N~G~E~R~S~N~I~N~J~A~S~T~O~R~M~A~N~D~S~A~M~U~R~A~I~T~A~I~N~T~E~D~S~T~O~N~E~

"You alright?" yells Dustin as the Samurai Gigazord takes a particularity nasty punch to its chest. Emily nods from inside, breathing heavily.

"I'm fine, I'm just done with this!" she cries, jabbing her sword at Antis only for him to dodge this. "I'm so done with this!"

"Glad to see you're taking it so well." Antis smiles sickly, kicking out a foot and hitting the Samurai Gigazord, causing it to stumble. The Hurricane Megazord reaches out and grabs Antis's hand, only to be shoved backwards.

"This guy…" Dustin shakes his head, keeping his grip tight. "Will they ever learn?"

"Apparently not."

Dustin watches Emily head forward before he gets an idea. "Wait! Emily, I have an idea. Stay back for a second. Lightning Megazord, now!"

"What?" Emily looks confused as Dustin's zord suddenly becomes smaller and thinner, the zords all shrinking until it seems to have lost half its weight.

Lithely it avoids all of Antis's attacks and manages to hit him straight in the chest, leaving him gasping for breath as Emily fires lasers when Dustin moves out the way.

"Good job Dustin!" she calls out to him. Dustin smiles inside his helmet but realizes the minute is almost up. The zord slowly turns back to its regular self.

"Ready to finish this?" he asks, seeing Antis sprawled on the ground before them. Emily nods, fighting to remain standing. Piloting the Samurai Gigazord by herself is definitely taking a toll on her already weary muscles. But she only grasps the stick in front of her tighter and sets her mouth.

"I've been ready," she tells him. "Ultimate Samurai Slash!"

"Typhon power!" Dustin yells at the same time. Hopefully this will be enough to get rid of Antis-for good.

But neither of them expected their world to flash brightly, and then darken.

To be continued…
