Hey! Once again here I am, with another brand and new chapter for you guys…
Ok… so I don't own anything, these characters aren't mine, I just like playing with them, right?
Thanks so much for all the review and to all the people who take the time to read my story!
I'm really sorry if maybe some of the things I say doesn't make any sense, or if I repeat myself many times… just remember that English isn't my first language… as much as I want it….
Anyway… I'll let you guys go ahead and read… Enjoy and review!
"A letter 5 years toolate"
Lucas stayed that night at the pier, waiting for her to come back… but when he figured she wasn't coming back he decided to go home, he walked for almost an hour under the rain, which had started once Brooke left, and all he could wish for was that Brooke wasn't wet and soaked. Lucas opened the door of his mother house and everything was really dark… lights were out, it seemed like Nathan and Haley were sleeping and Karen, too. He entered by the kitchen's door, and remembering where each furniture was he tried to make his way to his room. Suddenly someone turned a light on…
"Haley?" Lucas said recognizing a sleepy figure over the sofa…
"Where were you?" Haley asked him, already knowing the answer since David had called her a while ago asking for Brooke and as no one knew where Lucas was too, she figured they were together…
"I…"
"You are all wet" Hales said "why don't you go put some warm clothes on and then we'll talk"
"About what?" he asked
"There's been something I've been wanting to ask you, just hurry up" she rushed him.
"Sure, I'll be right out" he answered, though he wasn't in the mood for the kind of talking she was hoping…
After a good ten minutes he came out in his pajamas pant and a white t-shirt…
"God, what are you a woman? You took ages"
"Hales, it was only ten minutes" he said "Ok, what do you want to talk about?" he said sitting in front of her
"Were you with Brooke, tonight?" she asked
He just looked at her "yes, why?"
"Did you know that David was looking for her?"
"I figured... but I was with her for just half an hour as top" he explained
"What were you doing with her, Luke?"
"Hales..." he complained… and she interrupted
"Please tell cause…. I seriously don't understand Lucas, I thought you were over her" she said "I mean, I love her and she's my friend, but you went through hell the last time you guys saw each other"
"We just talked… at the pier"
Five years ago, the last night they saw each other, Lucas called Haley and told her about his decision, at first she didn't agree with him, and later she didn't either, cause he was in a mentally bad shape, he was depressed, something she would never thought Lucas could be… but after a few months he got better, he got over it, or that was what he pretended to. Suddenly one day when she was going through the mail, she found a letter, it came from Rome and it was from Brooke… Lucas wasn't home that morning; he had early practice with Nathan… Haley knew that whatever that letter said, it wasn't going to be good for Lucas, so she spend a good time wondering what she should do, if leave the letter on the counter, so it would be the first thing Lucas saw when he came home, or put it away with her stuff, so he couldn't find it…
She knew it was the wrong and worst decision, but she put it away with some of her music books and stuff… and never mentioned it…
"Wasn't that the place where you guys… "
"Yeah.. " he answered quickly… he didn't want to hear finish that sentence…
"Lucas… I don't think that was a very good idea…" she said
"No Hales, you have no idea, ok… you know what she told me… she said she wasn't happy"
"Really? She said that?"
"Well… not with those words, but something similar…"
"And what did she said next?"
"She... just… run away" he said quietly…
Haley knew that Brooke still had feelings for Lucas, and that they would always be in some special place in her heart…
"Listen, you are going to hate me for this but…" she said looking for something in her sweatshirt pocket "this is for you, I should have given it to you years ago" she said.
"What's this?" Lucas asked and he stretched a little and took the envelope… He read the remittent and it was Brooke's handwriting and her name on it "What's this, Haley?" he asked again as he got no answer before.
"It came one morning" she said her eyes were teary "it came in one of your early practice days, I was alone at home and going through it I found it, Brooke sent it to you"
"Yeah, that I can tell" he said still looking at the envelope… "But why am I getting it now!" he said raising his voice a little
"I'm sorry Lucas, I hid it from you, you were getting out of, you know… that dark place or whatever you where in those days… "
"How could you hid something, something so important like this?" he said "over almost… five years, Haley"
"I know I shouldn't but I was doing it for you… I knew Brooke was far away and…" she wanted to keep on explaining but Lucas interrupted her
"Did you read it?" he asked
"… What? No… no I haven't... Listen, now I realized it was a stupid thing what I did… I shouldn't have, I should have given it straight to you and let you deal with whatever it said… I'm sorry Luke"
Lucas knew why she did it… she was his best friend, and she was right, he wasn't himself round those days, but still it wasn't reason enough to do it…
"I know… I think I'm going to.." he said… he was so red, his head was burning, and felt his eyes all wet now…
"Yeah… uhm, I'm going to leave you" she got up and walked to where he was now standing, too. Placing her hand on his chest "I'm sorry Luke, you know I love you and I would never do something on purpose just to hurt you"
He looked down to her and smiled a little, somehow he always managed to smile… "I know Hales, it's fine… really" he told her…
Then she went to her room and got in bed with Nathan, who was already fast asleep.
Lucas stayed at the living room for another half an hour, he was awake now and nothing was going to make him sleep. It was almost four in the morning when he realized he hadn't opened the envelope yet. He wondered what the words in that letter could say. If she had send it right after they broke up, then probably there were some hatred words, or something like that… He had it right in front of him, he could open it right now and find out, but he didn't, he just walked around the coffee table, pacing around, and looking at it… Why hadn't he already opened it? He took it once again in his hands and went to his room; he knew he needed some sleep.
After placing the letter carefully on his night table he got inside his bed and tried to sleep. After another couple of minutes he finally got asleep.
The next fewdays passed really quickly, Brooke spent as much time as possible hanging out with Peyton and Haley, trying to avoid awkward moments with Lucas, and trying to pay Dave enough attention but somehow, no matter how hard she tried to prove herself wrong, something had changed… things just wasn't the same.
Lucas on the other hand was a little down… and tried to spend some alone time, away from everyone, just him and the court… He hadn't opened the letter yet, he was afraid of what it could say… He didn't know what to do, if ask Brooke about it or just let it go… The little time he spent with his friends, the little time he spent with her, she was trying her best to laugh, she was cheery as always, and hardly took a glance at Lucas… maybe it's all better this way he thought… maybe I just have to burn the letter…
But he didn't either; the letter was in his night table drawer.
Ok, I think it's here where I end it, lol… Please review a lot! I'll try to update really soon, before I go on vacation, but the thing is I have my finals these next two weeks… so… but I'll try to manage…
Take care readers! Have fun! - Hugsandkisses -
