Future Mate
Ch. 10 – Ownership
"Ahem." Kurama clear his throat. "Sir I have brought someone to see you that might interest you."
"Unless it's a life or death thing I don't care. My father will be returning soon and I have to find something to please him!" Koenma throws paperwork everywhere in a fit of panic.
"I'm sure my Aniki, Sesshomaru, would owe you a favor should you reunite us." Kagome's voice floats through the air.
"…" All the ogres freeze as Koenma slowly lifts his head, noticing Kagome and acknowledging her presence. "Who are you? Kurama you of all people should know how dangerous this place is for normal humans –"
"Koenma sir –"
"Not now Boton! I'm busy scolding an employee -"
"I apologize in advance." Kagome whispers to Kurama before stepping forward. Koenma falls silent as white wisps emanate from Kagome, blue sparks jumping off each one as they swirl around her. Kurama is stunned and for once in his life confused until the hair on the back of his neck feels like he stuck his finger in a light socket. It was all too hauntingly familiar as his youkai instincts rose up to protect him from a threat he hadn't encountered in centuries. "You will permit me into Makai so that I may find Sesshomaru and you will release Kurama's work contract to me." Kagome's voice fills with confidence and power. "I am Kagome, Shikon no Miko and Lady of the Western Lands. My demands will be met."
"…" Koenma is kneeling before her in his teenage form in a heartbeat. "My Lady I humbly apologize. I would be honored if you would allow me to escort you to the Western Castle. Kurama is needed here."
"No. Give me his contract." She stares down at him without moving her head.
"But Lady Kagome –" Koenma pleads.
"This is not negotiable." Kagome stands her ground as the sparks in the air get a little stronger.
"Very well."
And just like that, Kurama felt owned.
