Summary: Preparing for the rounds of Social Events is what my life has always been about. We don't work, we live from money our relatives send us and nothing more. Until firstborn Prince Sesshomaru looked my way and then everything changed and I do mean everything.

Rating: M (The lemons will be cut out. I might post it on AFF or something though.)

CHAPTER 8

After the talk with Sesshomaru went well, Inuyasha and Kagome spent the rest of the afternoon choosing the perfect attire. This was going to be a big event with Kagome's return and all.

The two finally decided on this tight black dress with gold outlines while Inuyasha settled on a white suit and a dark golden tie. Definitely, this part was going to be great.

Now, Kagome descended the carriage and was escorted to the back by Miroku. No one was to see her until everything was ready. Nothing was going to prevent her from making this night as perfect as it can be. Inuyasha took his time greeting people and smiling at other royal girls who swooned under his gaze. All the female attention immediately switched to the double glassed door where Sesshomaru was entering with Kikyo by his side.

He was wearing his usual attire, the kimono however, the fluff was no longer on his shoulder. It was replaced by this velvet piece of silk that dangled on either side of his shoulder. It looked quite expensive and very comfortable. Kikyo on the other hand wore, well nothing to be exact. The top she was wearing barely covered her breast however the skirt was long enough to reach the palace marble floors. It was as if it was to make up for exposing herself from the waist up. Probably what she wished, all male eyes were on her, lusting after her.

Sesshomaru was oblivious, or at least he wanted everyone to believe so.

Suddenly, Inuyasha cleared his throat, gathering everyone's attention just as Naraku and Kagome's mother entered the room.

"I have an announcement for everyone." He proudly declared with a grin. "Naraku would you like the honors?"

Naraku stared at Inuyasha with an intent questioning gaze. "The honors?"

"Yes, the honors of announcing a new member to the family of course."

Suddenly, as if the world now made sense, Naraku gave his well known smirk. "Ah yes."

The two, Inuyasha and Naraku, ascended the stairs and stood at the top, overlooking everyone.

"I didn't know she was attendi—"

"Well she is."

Naraku give him a grin that could kill if it wanted to. "Alright yes, ladies and gentlemen, men and women, children and even infants, I would like to introduce Kagome, the new princess of Britannia."

A silence stretched throughout the room, no one dared to breath. You could even hear the crickets chirping outside due to the silence.

Kagome chose this time to step out from hiding, she stood proudly in between the two men with a charming smile that made the boys swoon, not from lust but from admiration. Almost as if they were lovestruck. Her dress clung to the right places without showing off items that were meant to be kept hidden. Now all male attention was on her, leaving Kikyo looking like a fool for trying so hard to attract attention.

The two women, Kikyo and Kagome, locked eyes. Kagome smiled while Kikyo managed to drop her glass of wine, spilling its red contents all over the white floors, staining them red. It was as if she was standing in a pool of blood.

"Y—"

"I think not. You are not to speak to that lady." Sesshomaru interrupted her, leaving Kikyo with a disbelief look on her face. How dare she decide to waltz back into their lives? She was going to pay. Kikyo excused herself to make a quick trip to the bathroom, giving Kagome a knowing look which she gladly returned. This was the fun part.

Kagome curtsied, "Please, do not let me hold everyone up from the festivities. I need to use the ladies room." She declared while Sesshomaru stared blankly, though on the inside, he was appreciating that dress. He nodded, it fit her quite well.

Once inside, she was accosted and hit the door from Kikyo's shove. "You bitch!" She snarled, glaring at Kagome. "What in the world do you think you're doing here?! You're supposed to be DEAD!"

Kagome flinched, not from fear but from pain, that was definitely going to bruise. "Hello to you too Kikyo. Nice to see you're doing well."

"Don't you mock me bitch."

"Wow, your vocabulary sure has expanded over the past two years." Kagome bit out, she was no longer afraid. That's a lie, she was shaking on the inside but out, she appeared brave and confident.

Kikyo scoffed, the insult slipping right through her. "Please. How'd you manage to snag the princess spot? Did you spread your legs for Naraku? Or better yet, did that whore of a mother of yours spread her legs? She did didn't she..." She pouted, almost as if it looked cute but honestly, it really just smudged her lipstick and made her look like a duck. An ugly duck.

"Oh, you mean like you spread your legs for Sesshomaru every night? Do you think he loves you? He doesn't, in fact, he might fancy me more than he fancies you. I didn't see him helping you when you dropped that glass of wine." Kikyo gasped, raising her hand as if to slap her. "I don't think so, the time it will take for you to scratch me, you will end up with claw marks on that disgusting face of yours."

Not heeding Kagome's advice, Kikyo struck Kagome's face. The inside of her cheek nicked her tooth, causing it to bleed. If she wanted, Kagome could have dodged but she needed something to bruise her face as evidence. Almost instantly, her hand struck out and dug its nails into Kikyo's face. Small traces of blood trickled down her face with blazing red claw marks outlining her cheek and nose.

"Told you."

"Why you little..."

At that moment, Sesshomaru burst into the girl's bathroom after hearing loud nose and banging. That wasn't part of the plan, it was time to improvise. Instantly, Kagome shut her eyes and when they opened, small traces of teardrops appeared.

"My lord, forgive me, I might have accidentally struck your concubine with the door as I was entering. I apologized repeatedly but she proceeded to attack me and blame me for things I have no knowledge about."

Sesshomaru gently laid a hand on Kagome's shoulder and notice the blood dripping down her chin onto the white marble floors of the restroom.

"Oh this? She slapped me pretty hard." In fact, a nasty red bruise was starting to show on her cheek. "My lord, have I ever lived inside your palace before?" Now the tears began cascading down her cheeks, "Your concubine, whose name I don't even know, accused me of trying to take you away from her."

Kikyo gasped and reached for Kagome's hand. Her skinny fingers wrapped around the crying woman's wrist and the two began to play a tug of war. "Ow!" Kagome screamed in pain.

Sesshomaru lifted his hand and slapped Kikyo, hard. Then brought his hand back to slap her once more. "Let. Her. Go. I am ashamed of you, not that I expected anything from one of your kind in the first place. First you dress like a common whore," Kikyo opened her mouth to interject but Seshomaru never allowed her the chance, " and do not deny the satisfaction you gained from gaining other men's lustful stares."

The woman shut her mouth, sending death glares towards Kagome.

"Now you attack this woman in the bathroom? I will no longer put up with this, allow one of my drivers to escort you home. You are no longer allowed to partake in such events alongside my person. You are no longer the number one of my harem, you have been demoted to the last."

Kikyo stared at him in disbelief, "No! Wait she's tricking you Sesshomaru. She's faking everything!"

"What does she mean?" Kagome asked him, in ignorance. "Do I know this woman?"

Sesshomaru stared down at her and shook his head, "No, you do not. This is the first time you've met her. Why don't you join your servant and have him fix you up."

Kagome nodded numbly, slipping a smirk towards Kikyo that Sesshomaru managed to miss. At her leave, Kikyo crossed her arms and huffed. This was not happening.

"Sesshomaru, she's faking everything. I swe—"

"Not another word. She suffered amnesia in the past year due to all the abuse she sustained from you and your lackeys. She tried to commit suicide!" He snarled at her, "You are lucky to even be apart of my harem. If I see you near her once again, you'll know where you stand. She is a princess now and deserve your utmost respect."

Without leaving her the opportunity to say anything, Sesshomaru swiftly exited the room.

Kikyo was fuming, she'd never been so angry before in her life. Kagome would pay dearly, oh yes she would pay for causing her the number one spot in Sesshomaru's harem.

"Fuck!" She exclaimed, "It took me years to get that damn spot. Kagome, I'm going to kill you, even if it's the last thing I do." With that, she decided to clean herself up then noticed the claw marks on her face, she'd forgotten all about them and now, they were burning, reminding her of their presence.

She was going to pay dearly.
