Chapter 9: Fission
Evelynn, a girl born to family of fishers. born with pale skin, brown hair and green eyes.
One day, fishing for a good haul to bring in, a storm caught them, and pulled them from the shores, to unknown land. But, they blacked out before they reached the land that was fast approaching.
Evelynn woke to find that she had been thrown from the boat, and was bleeding from her forehead, but not severely. She stood and looked at her family's boat, only to see it covered in spider webs and giant spiders walking around. Two cocoons were in the webs.
Evelynn ran into the forests.
She ran for two days, and eventually collapsed. She looked up to see a mighty man in armor standing across from her. He carried a giant spiked mace.
He uttered no words, but saw her hunger and thirst. He pointed off to the right. There she saw someone eatting. She never got to see the man, because he vanished when she came close.
She was caught by the neck by some ghost. It whispered to her,"Turn back now. If not, then you will be trapped."
"I have nothing,"Evelynn cried.
The ghost was silent, until it vnaished. Evelynn looked at the table and saw it full of food. She sniffed it. It smelled so good, that one bite couldn't hurt.
She though wrong. The food, though the best she had ever had, began to burn in her stomach. She looked to see her skin turning darker and darker, like frostbite. Her eyes chenged color, and her brown hair turned pink. She held her stomach in pain, wanting death to embrace her. A cup floated down to her. She opened her eyes and saw a man with dark skin, white hair and yellow eyes hand it to her.
"Drink, it will make your body feel better."So, she drank the wine. It made her body cool off, and she was able to breath. She was now in tuned with all the land around her. She felt at home again. But, it still hurt her to think back about that.
She soon honed her new skills, and rebuilt her family's boat to return to the main land. What felt like one-hundred years to Evelynn, had acctully been twenty years. She found Valoran torn apart by the Rune Wars. She found out about the League, and decided to use her new found skills there, to find a new life, and a new family.
Shen and Akali were uneasy.
Ever since the death of Grandmaster Luwin, they have been on edge, prepareing for what ever was going to happen.
Jarvan was scraching his chin."Why is it Luwin died so suddenly?"
"The poison in his blood took hold fast than we originally believed,"Soraka told him."The blood was useless when I got to him."
Swain sighed."But who killed him?"
"Good question,"Jarvan said to him.
Gren took his seat in the Grandmaster's seat.
"Grandmaster?"asked the summoner in front of Gren.
"Yes?"Gren asked.
"Your commands?"he asked.
He waved his hand."Bring me a mug of ale. and talk with Fredric about the evidance in the investigation about General Du Couteau."
"Yes sir,"he said with a bow, leaving.
"It's all falling into place,"Gren said, smiling.
The day mostly passed without anything of interest.
But things went to Hell in only a few hours.
Swain woke up, seeing LeBlanc reading over some of his paperwork.
"What are you doing?"he asked.
"Clearing some of your work,"LeBlanc stated.
Swain stood, and pulled on his coat."Well, its my job, not yours,"he said, putting a hand on her shoulder.
Someone walked in. It was Darius."Swain, there has been a break in the Du Couteau case,"he said.
Swain's eyes widened."What is it?"
Darius held a file in front of him."Here."
Swain opened the file."General Du Couteau's autopsie reports, poisen in his blood, possetions. And, a lead suspect?"he read with curiosity.
"As such,"Swain was fishing,"We believe that the most likely to have done this is..."Swain's eyes widened farther."If this is right, then Noxus will end up in a war once more."
Katerina read the report. He crumpled it up and threw it into her trash.
"My lady?"Talon asked.
"He couldn't have killed father,"Katerina stated.
"How are you so sure?"Cassiopia asked.
"He wouldn't kill father unless they fought on the battlefeild. Demacian or not, he is honor bound."
"Kat, the evidence is against him,"Cassiopia stated.
"And I know its wrong,"she replied."If it is, then Noxus will declare war, regardless of Swain. Demacia will be forced to defend, and the League will interfere."
Talon sighed."Like it or not, he is going to be investigated, and he is going to be hated. We can't deny it."
All three agreed there.
Garen punched the wall.
"Calm down,"Xin Zhao said."Your overreakting."
"They are claiming our prince killed Du Couteau!"Garen screamed."How can they claim this?"
Galio grunted."I do not know. But Prince Jarvan is going to have Hell to face now."
"Serves him right,"Lux said, brooding in the corner.
Shyvana just gave her an annoyed look."Your pissed, you want to punch Jarvan in the face, we get it."Shyvana's eyes softened."But still, he dosen't deserve this."
Lux grunnted."Yeah, and you don't deserve him."She turned her head away from them.
Garen grunted."I don't know what the bigger problem is now. Lux or... this."
"Noxus will want his blood,"Fiora stated.
"They always do,"Garen said, still mad.
Shyvana sighed."Granted. But still, this will give cause for rioting and attacks on Demacia. Jarvan will be questioned. And, if they decide he is guilty, then..."
"Then he will be executed,"Xin Zhao finished.
Silence fell on that thought.
Lux grunted."Let him die." She turned away and left them.
Shyvana held Garen back. "Let her go. Where she walks now, no one must follow."
Lux was walking through the halls of the Institute of War. They were very silent.
"Hello lovely," came a familiar voice.
"Vladimir," Lux replied.
Vlad appeared walking next to Lux."Good to see you Lady of Luminosity."
"Go away."
He raised an eyebrow."Why are so cold today? You seem dark and alone."
"I said go away,"Lux said annoyed.
Vlad laughed."It has to do with prince doesn't it?"
Lux stopped. She turned to Vladimir."You try having the person you love pull your heart of your chest and crush it a bloody pulp."
Vlad laughed."I know more than anyone else Luxanna."
"You do not!"she shouted pinning him against a wall.
"Yes I do,"he replied."It felt like she ripped into my ribs and crushed my still beating heart."
Lux let him down.
"Who was she?"she asked.
"A beautiful girl roughly a year younger than me. She had long red hair and golden eyes. And with that, a kind heart, which was rare in Noxus. Everyone loved her. And she loved me. And I especially loved her."
"What happened?"she asked.
A tear fell down Vladimir's cheek."I became a hemomancer. She thought I was a monster. Tried to kill me. Almost did. She crushed my lung, trying to get at my heart. My powers saved me. Bleed her dry to repair my lung. I didn't try to bleed her. I tried to die, just to fulfill her wish to have me dead. My powers refused it. Leaving me there with her corpse. They found me, broken and saddened. It was there that I vowed to protect Noxus, and the people she so loved, even if no love can ever come by me again."
"But I thought it was because you like to kill."
"Well, that too,"he confessed."But now, I don't kill Noxians. I kill our enemies. And now, I just fight them, killing them over and over. But I do it to preserve her dream."
"And her name?"she asked.
"Briella. She never had a last name. Just a street rat like me. But she had a thing about her that made people calm and happy."
"Why do you always smile and joke then?"
"Because she did almost all the time. Even when the blood was being drained from her."He began crying. But it wasn't tears this time, it was blood."She saw me break down, and saw my heart was still there. She apologized and died in my arms."
Lux felt sorry for him now, and put a hand on his shoulder."How can you handle it?"she asked.
he pulled himself back together, and smiled again."Because, my body will not allow me to kill myself, or let me die. So, I no longer let the past hold me back. I just keep moving forward."
Lux thought for a moment."Can you help me?"she asked.
Vladimir laughed."If I had to guess, you just damned your prince to die."
She blushed."Yeah."
"Then I can help."
She smiled."Thank you."
"First step, come to terms with what has happened."
Jarvan rubbed his head.
"Why would they assume me as the murderer?"he asked Gren.
"I don't know your grace, but we are looking into all evidence. I believe they came to this because of the malice Demacia holds to Noxus."
Jarvan sighed."It still feels wrong."
"Don't worry Prince Jarvan, I know your innocent. I will fight for your freedom."
"Thank you Grandmaster,"Jarvan replied."Just let me know how to repay you for this kindness."
"No need. Peace is all I ask in return."
Jarvan nodded."If Noxus is for it, so is Demacia."
Gren laughed."As a Noxian myself, that is asking a bit much to ask young prince."
"True,"Jarvan joked.
Soraka pulled what remained of the toxin out of the blood sample.
This toxin would not have been able to kill him unless he was given it every day for a long period of time.
How would anybody give him this toxin for that long of a time period?
She had to find out so she would know who was to blame.
Shyvana stood, guarding middle lane from Ryze, distracting her mind from Jarvan and what was happening.
Ryze sent a blast of arcane energy at her. She responded with a blast of flame. The two attacks meet, and caused a small explosion between the two champions.
Darius and Vi were holding the top lane from Renekton and Morgana.
The two were a powerful team. One fighting like a well trained soldier, and the other like a street rat trying to win their next meal.
Before they knew it, Renekton was recalling, while Morgana lay dead, being ported back to spawn.
"Good work,"Vi told Darius.
"You to,"Darius replied."Don't get relaxed, we still have a turret to destroy."
Vi laughed."On it."
She ran it, minions following.
She dodged the turret shots, left and right, getting into melee range, and ripping chunks from the turret.
The turret would send a blast at her, and she would dodge it.
Darius followed her in, and sent his ax into the base of the turret, and tearing chunks from the base.
Vi replied with a punch, and broke the turret from its base.
"One down, two to go."Darius was moving forward.
Vi laughed."Don't get to excited."
The two began another rampage to the next turret.
LeBlanc was helping Swain look over the evidence once again.
"This can't be,"he stated.
"The evidence is being held against him more and more Jerico,"LeBlanc stated.
Swain rubbed his head."I won't deny that I've wanted to see Jarvan dead many times, but still, i'm not going to let his honor be besmirched by some lie against him."
LeBlanc nodded."Agreed."
Garen groaned."How can anyone think Jarvan guilty?"he asked.
"I don't know,"Kat replied,"but my mom is siding with this false evidence. She says Jarvan is responsible."
"That isn't good,"Garen replied.
She nodded."But no one in the League believes he is. We have all fough against and with Jarvan, so we know he wouldn't murder. He will kil, but never murder."
Garen nodded."Noxus is supporting it, aren't they?"
"Swain is the only one high up keeping them from hunting Jarvan down. darius and draven help keep the peace with it."
"Thanks for letting me know,"Garen said back. He stood up, and walked out.
Kat closed the door behind him.
Talon nodded to Garen.
Garen nodded back.
Garen met up with Xin Zhao.
"Will we expect Noxus to turn against the peace?"he asked.
"Not if Swain can say anything about it."Garen sighed."A drink please,"he said to one of the minions passing by passing by. The minion nodded, and vanished to get Garen his drink.
"Can we trust Swain?"Xin Zhao asked.
Garen nodded."However ruthless he may be, he is honest enough."
"And the Du Coutous?"he asked.
"Katarina, Cassiopeia and Talon will back us up. But aside from them, I have no clue what will happen."Garen took the mug of ale brought to him.
Xin Zhao nodded."Very well. But I think you put to much faith in Katarina."
Garen shrugged."Its good to trust someone. Especially if they are Noxian."
He laughed."Fair enough old friend."
Jarvan sat in his room. He was thinking.
"How could they possibly blame me. I mean, as a suspect I can understand. But the culprit? Something doesn't add up."
He leaned back and heard a nock on his door. He opened it.
Shyvana stood there."Are you ok Jarvan?"
He sighed."Trying to cheer me up?"he asked.
She shrugged."Maybe. But you do need a laugh or two."
He stepped aside to let her in.
Shyvana sat on his bed. She was silent for a minute.
"So, what made you actually love me?"she asked.
Jarvan was taken back for a minute."Why the sudden-?"
"Just answer,"she said blushing.
He was quiet, then smiled."I guess our little journey together for your revenge."
"Really?"she asked, eyeing him.
He nodded."When I first saw you, injured and in pain, I saw a face that I had seen many other times."
"How is that?"she asked.
"Pain and loss. Horror and anger. One shot on one thing."He smiled."I guess that's what drew me to helping you. I always hated seeing that face."
She tilted her head."Is that why you agreed to help me?"
He laughed."Yeah. I wanted to help this little thing. such a young girl, who had lost everything. I help heal your wounds, and stood right beside you. Along that journey, I soon fell in love with you. But I never completely knew it until that night in Demacia."
She smiled."Really?"she asked again.
"Truly,"he replied.
She laughed a bit."I never got to be a little girl, but I think this is what they fell like."
He laughed too.
Wukong was eating his food.
"Something feels wrong in the air teacher,"he said as Yi sat down.
Master Yi nooded."The Kinkou will be knowing this as well."
"Should we do something?"Wukong asked.
Yi nodded."Soon. But not now."
Wukong nodded."I understand."
As the days went by, stress grew at the institute of War.
Jarvan was eventually put under heavy suspicion as "evidence" began to turn up.
Eventually, Jarvan was confronted by one of the summoners looking into the case.
"My prince, evidence is turning this case against you. Just give in and confess."He was an older man, but his face was hidden by his hood.
"I am innocent,"Jarvan said back.
The summoner frowned."Your lies won't go for much longer."
Jarvan frowned. This summoner was Noxian. He sighed."I do not assassinate. If I kill a man, its in fair combat.
The summoner nodded."I am done here."
That was the last conversation that Jarvan had with someone before he was taken away for his trial.
It went by fast with no conclusive evidence. The trial was postponed until further evidence was found.
It was here that plans were made, and unrest reborn.
Thank you for waiting. This took a lot of time to think out.
next chapter will take a bit. What is Gren thinking? What will happen to Jarvan? Will I stop asking questions you can't possible answer?
Find out, next chapter.
