Chapter 10

Kaname sat in a chair underneath the nearest tree close to the river. He watched Zero fishing and not catching a thing. Yes he was bored but if Zero thought he just lost his memory then everything would get more interesting. 'Maybe I can get him to swim… He'd only do it willingly if other people go in with him and I'm sure as hell not going in there.' He thought to himself. The girls weren't here yet but when they did come he'd go along with his little plan. "I don't understand why you wanted to fish. There's a restaurant in the hotel and I'm not eating anything you catch.''

"It's just to relax. Lighten up. I have to do something interesting and I knew you wouldn't want to fish so… We don't like each other so I have no idea why you wanted to room with me." Yes you do know but maybe I convinced you with my little act.

"The feeling is mutual. I just didn't want you to get jealous when you had to room with Hajime." It was clear he was upset. No more smart remarks. This wasn't like him. I must've scared him. Hmmm…

Zero was uneasy. Kaname was behind him watching him. He could feel him staring like all the other times… He surely hoped his memory was wiped and that he wasn't planning anything. He thought fishing would be productive but catching nothing only made him have to be in front of him longer. If he had caught something he could use it as an excuse to leave but then again… This could be a blessing. If he had gone to the room Kaname would follow and since the girls aren't anywhere around he could try something. If he continued fishing maybe the girls would come so he could go to his room without worrying what would happen.

"It's clear there's no fish…'' Zero jumped up hearing Kaname behind him whispering in his ear. He never noticed he got up. "Either that or you suck. What's wrong? Did I startle you? Did the Mr. Scary Prefect hunter get scared of a vampire?" That smirk…

"In your dreams. I'm not scared of you. You surprised me that's all."

"Well since I'm bored I'll just go to the room. Next time let's do something more productive." Zero flinched at that but only after Kaname turned around to leave. He hadn't done anything yet but scare him yet it felt like he was planning something. Am I just being paranoid?

Kaname came into his room that he now shared with Zero. When should he do it? He certainly carried that potion wherever he went after that last time. They had a few more days left. Maybe he'd do it close to the end so the girls wouldn't think anything was wrong. This whole experience could go in his favor being he suspected Zero's loved ones to think something was up. He'd make Zero look like a fool whenever he decided this paranoia got the best of him. Kaname would stand there looking so innocent and Zero would blame him for something no one thought he would do so obviously he didn't do it. Being everyone else was tricked by him it'd be easy. All the little humans were so gullible. He looked forward to that day when he'd try getting away and no one would believe him then he'd have no one to turn to but Kaname. It was obvious Zero was gonna sleep with one eye opened tonight so while he got his beauty sleep Zero would be exhausted the next day. He probably wouldn't sleep the whole week which could work to his advantage. When Zero was at his weakest that's when he'd strike. He saw Zero come in the door he just glanced at him then back at his things. He could tell just being here was getting to him. It was part of his plans. "I know you hate me so stop looking at me like that. I see you like that every day. You think for one day you could just relax? We're on an island. It's good to relax once in a while. If you want me to leave you alone I will. I want to relax too. I haven't done that in a while. Anyway you shouldn't look at me if it'll only make you frown. You'll already have enough wrinkles from all the other times you're frowning." Okay that got to him. "You told me to lighten up. Maybe you should take your own advice. Oh since you can't fish why don't we just swim tomorrow? It'll help you relax. Let's set aside our differences while we're here. Okay?"

"…Did you take something?" Well I thought he'd be a bit more insulted.

"No. Aren't you tired of us fighting? I'm a Pureblood and you hate those but I didn't kill your family. I pity you yet you do get on my nerves especially when you point that gun at me. Tell you what I'll stop pestering you and you can be a little nicer to me and if you don't like that when we get back to the academy we can continue hating each other. Now we are here away from everyone. We're in front of this beautiful lake where we can fish and swim and be together. I've never really relaxed let alone had a vacation. I'm sure you haven't had one in a while either. Let's enjoy it while it lasts." He looked like he had a giant question mark on top of his head. "I'm gonna shower then head to bed."

000

Did he just say what I think he said?! It didn't matter unless he meant it but it seemed like he did. I don't know. Vampires are always so manipulative. If I become gullible now I'll be just like the humans and I'll get hurt just like them too. He was gonna relax but also play the same game the vampire was. He wants to play we're going to play. It was quiet for a while. Soon the vampire came out the shower, glanced at him, then went to bed after closing the curtains and setting the alarm. Zero grabbed his clothes determined to take the quickest shower he ever took in his life. Kaname hadn't gone it. He was still in his bed when he came out the bathroom but he got in his bed but he wouldn't sleep. He couldn't not when he was this close to him. Sleep lowered his defenses. He stayed staring in the Pureblood's direction until his eyelids were getting heavy he looked at the clock and hours had passed. Maybe he was playing along with Kuran's little game but this sleep thing was going to get him either way. If he slept he could attack if he stayed up he'd be weaker in the morning. Anything he did he had him.
