Hi again! So here's the next update. Also I realized in a previous chapter I used Professor Snape, even though he's supposed to be dead after the war. I'm still planning on keeping him alive in my story because I like him too much (sorry if that offends anyone). Also we have some angry Veela Draco action in this chapter ;) enjoy!

I own nothing.

Glancing down at the Prefects list, Headmistress McGonagall checked to make sure everything was in order before she made her final announcement to the students. She was satisfied in choosing students that would lead the students as well as be empathetic towards the grief and loss caused by the war.

PREFECTS:

SLYTHERIN: Pansy Parkinson, Blaise Zabini

HUFFLEPUFF: Hannah Abbott, Justin Finch- Fletchley

RAVENCLAW: Luna Lovegood, Terry Boot

GRYFFINDOR: Parvati Patil, Ronald Weasley

HEAD STUDENTS: Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy

Standing quickly, the headmistress addressed the students as they finished their meal.

"Now that your bellies are full, I would like our students to please head out to their dorms. Prefects, please lead the first year students in your house to the dormitories. Also, will the head students please join me for a moment? Oh! Before I forget, the schedules for the date and times of your classes will be owled to you at breakfast tomorrow. That will be all. Have a good evening and welcome back to Hogwarts!"

While the students started leaving the Great Hall, Hermione and Draco met the Headmistress at the High Table.

"You wanted to see us professor?" Hermione said with curiosity dancing in her eyes.

" Yes my dears, I just wanted to ask you to please look over the students as they head to their dorms to make sure they get where they need to be without any *ahem* visits to anyone from the other houses. Until we get a proper prefects schedule organized, I will need you two to take the patrolling rounds after midnight. Also, you will be living in special living arrangements in the Head students' dorm rooms. When you both are ready to retire to your dorms, come back to the Great Hall, and this light will lead you to your dorms. Any questions?" McGonagall said as she conjured a bright purple light that danced in the corner of the great hall. Both students shook their heads and stood from their chairs.

"Oh and one last thing" McGonagall said, " Mr. Malfoy, please let me know if your Veela nature feels threatened , and myself, Professor Snape, or any other available professor will be always be able to assist you. Please both of you wear these necklaces, and hold it tightly if you need assistance. Have a good evening my dears."

The necklaces were a matching set of wings. The jagged edges of each piece fit together to make an extremely accurate replica of Draco's wings. They faintly glowed when placed in each of the Head students' hands, before they obediently wore them. As they walked outside the Great Hall, Hermione grabbed Draco's robe sleeve to stop him.

"Malfoy, I will patrol near the Hufflepuff and Slytherin dorms, while you patrol near the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw dorms. It will be much more efficient and quicker for us to patrol this way, that way we can go to, um, our dorm." Hermione said, faltering when she had to speak of the dreaded shared dorm.

'Merlin, our dorm. I can't wait to live with my angel' Draco thought before asking, "Wouldn't it be better for me to go with the Slytherins and you with the Gryffindors?"

"Yes Malfoy, but we may get distracted with our friends, and I really want to see where our new dorms are. I'll meet you back here in about an hour." Without waiting for a reply, Hermione turned and walked briskly down the hallway.

'Well, alright then' Draco thought as he watched her cute arse walk away from him, a small smile gracing his lips.

Hermione POV:

All of the students had quietly entered the Hufflepuff dorm without any trouble, eager to find their previous roommates and claim their beds. Satisfied with the Hufflepuff side of the castle, Hermione quickly went over to the Slytherin dorms.

Along the way, she did not notice any stray Slytherins roaming the halls. 'An easy first patrol for me.' Hermione thought as she approached the Slytherin dorm. Uttering the password, she quickly peeked her head inside to see the common room relatively empty. She advised a few students to head up to their rooms, knowing full well they would ignore her. It was the first day, she was not going to enforce the curfew time as strictly as she normally would. With a curt 'good night' Hermione left the Slytherin dorms.

Humming a soft tune, Hermione walked leisurely through the halls, taking her time going back to the great hall. She had plenty of time to spare and was in no rush. She was turning the corner to take the stairs back up to the main floor when her arm was roughly pulled back. Her back slammed into the coarse wall, as she let out a small cry in pain. The torch lights went out as someone stood next to her.

"Quiet Mudblood!" a voice shouted as someone roughly flipped her around and held her hands behind her back. Tying her wrists together, the person pressed Hermione into the wall before searching her robes. Quickly the person found the head girl's wand and tossed it across the hall.

"Won't be needing that for a while eh?" the voice said as hands roughly pulled her hair.

"Pansy?" Hermione whispered in disbelief, too shocked to raise her voice. The slap hit her face before she could react, as the sound resonated in the halls

"I said be quiet!" the woman snarled before laughing loudly "Poor baby, did that hurt? Well tough luck bitch, you should have thought before trying to steal something that is MINE. Of course the itty bitty Mudblood would figure out who I was by my voice. Crushing on me?"

Pansy slammed Hermione's head back into the wall with enough force to leave her head spinning.

"Of course not, because you want MY man. Let's get one thing straight you dirty little whore, Draco is MINE, and if I see you making eyes at him like you were in the Great Hall today you're dead. You may be living in the same dorm, but if you so much as look at him, believe me, I'll know. The only conversations that you will have with each other will be strictly business, do I make myself clear bitch?" Pansy snarled while pulling with enough force to rip some of her hair out. Hermione's eyes watered, threatening to let some tears loose, but she refused to give Pansy the satisfaction.

Hermione let out a feeble 'ye-ye-yes' in hopes of sounding weak enough to be let go. It seemed to work as Pansy chuckled.

"Good little Mudblood, now get out of my sight." Pansy sneered as she threw Hermione into the nearest wall.

'Oh Draco will be so annoyed that I left him all alone. Oh damn, that's gonna hurt like a bitch.' Hermione thought as she floated into unconsciousness. She heard a ruckus and saw a flash of light nearby right before she let the darkness enfold her.

Draco POV:

Draco passed through the halls, trying his hardest to respect his position and not sneer at all the Gryffindors he passed. Giving a quick check though the area surrounding the Gryffindor dorms, Draco left to go to the west wing of the castle to patrol the Ravenclaw dorms. He found some stray Ravenclaw first years, but they refused to go to their dorms, firing a million questions at him about his time at Hogwarts. Though he found them extremely annoying, he kept with his role as Head Boy and answered them to the best of his ability, finally getting them to go to bed.

Thinking that, even with the delay in the Ravenclaw dorm, he still had time to meet his Mia, he walked slowly through the hallways. He admired the portraits as well as the hall itself. Draco had missed Hogwarts greatly, and was glad that he was able to come back to finish off his education in the right way. He had the opportunity to live his life the way he wanted to, without any restrictions or fears, and he was excited to start the year. He never truly believed in blood status, and only picked on Gryffindors because they happened to be both annoying as hell and his 'enemies'. Draco could finally be who he wanted to be this year, not the stuck up prick with the slicked back hair and horrible attitude. That just wasn't him. What would probably shock people the most is that he didn't exceptionally hate Potter. Yes he was annoying, yes he was a git, but Draco secretely admired Potter for his accomplishments and work. Draco thought they could have been friends at one point or the other, but worries for his family and the late dark lord's powers took that option away from him.

Draco was shocked out of his musing when he felt a blinding pain that caused the air to rush out of his lungs and his claws to painfully jump out of his fingertips. There could only be one thing that could cause such a reaction.

"MIA!" Draco called as he ran as fast as he could down the stairs. Reaching the moving stairs, Draco was hit with another sharp pain that caused him to almost stumble off the side. In that time the stairs had moved away from him; he could not run anymore. With no time to wait for the stairs, Draco called his wings out, and in one great drag of his wings he crossed the wide expanse. Quickly folding in his wings, he continued sprinting towards his angel. His robes and undershirts lay in tatters along his sides, but he did not care. She was in danger.

Sprinting down, he saw a portion of the hallway with no torches lit. With a quick Incendio he lit the torches he heard "…Mudblood, now get out of my sight." and saw his angel thrown to the ground.

"MIAAAA" Draco shouted, as his regular voice changed to an inhuman shriek. When he saw the blood oozing from her head, he lost it. He went from normal to a painful full Veela state in less than half a second as he pinned the attacker to the wall with his hand.

"HOW DARE YOU" he shrieked as his left hand that was grasping the attacker's throat slowly squeezed the air out of it, "HOW COULD YOU HURT MY BEAUTY, SHE IS MINE! YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO TAKE HER FROM ME".

With a beastly roar his right hand came down on the attacker's face, leaving a rugged gash from its left check all the way down the middle of its neck. Draco flung the worthless body to the side with an anguished cry, only seeing his beloved, only feeling her pain. Carefully retracting his claws, he gently lifted his angel in his arms, taking off in the direction of the infirmary.

Draco ran faster than he ever had in his entire life, searching his mind for the fastest route to save his Mia.

'I promised myself that I would protect you my love. I have failed you. I am so...so sorry' Draco's anguished voice whispered to her as he ran. Tears streamed down his face and landed softly on his unconscious love.

Finding the door for the infirmary, he burst in, looking around frantically.

"Good Heaven's child! What is going on?" Madam Pomfrey's startled voice said from his left side.

"She needs help. She's loosing blood and she's injured. Please help her," Draco pleaded as he held her tightly to his chest. A large bruise was blossoming on the side of her face and Madam Pomfrey instantly grew wary of the man standing shirtless next to her. His black eyes intimidated her, but she had too focus on the girl lying limp in his arms.

" Set her down on that bed next to me, the bleeding will stop once I give her this blood replenishing potion, but you will have to take a calming draught before you help me work with everything else. I can't have a crazy assistant, okay?"

Downing the potion in one gulp, Draco silently nodded, knowing he'd do whatever it takes to heal her.

After a half hour of helping Madam Pomfrey, Draco was sure that Hermione's wounds were fixed. She would feel no pain but there would still be a large bruise on her face when she woke up. Large chunks of hair had been pulled out of her head, and they had to use a potion to restore her hair loss that would work while she slept. Her wrist had been broken in her struggles, and they had to use a potion to heal it. Draco hated the painful moans that left his beauty's mouth, but he was helpless. He knew she would heal soon.

Sighing with relief, Draco sank into the nearby chair and gazed at his angel. Holding her hand, he marveled at her soft skin, wondering how someone could ever lay a hand on her. Someone had dared hurt his angel, and they had not paid the full price. Draco had stopped himself when he sensed his Mia's injuries were very worrisome, and he vowed that he would revisit the attacker as soon as his angel was well. He could not identify who the attacker was in his fury, but his scent would be easily identifiable on the person as well as the large scar he had left. Draco would finish what he started. Soon.

And that's that.

Leave me some love if you loved it and some hate if you didn't

Love, Kisses, and absolutely no promises about the next update (since I can't keep them),
