The Sorting Ceremony and the Feast:

Inside the enormous room were four long-width tables with a length of about 50 metres. Sitting at them were older students in their houses. Laid out at the front of the room on a large brown wood with podium was a small, regular shaped table with all the teachers sitting facing their student.

At the far right corner of the room were four enormous hour-glasses each with a different coloured sand. Their colours were either blue, green, ruby or gold. They were not hourglasses at all. They were in fact point counters for the four houses.

The first years walked down the space between the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff tables. They noticed there were metal snake, lion, raven or badger headed statues holding lamps and high above their head was the ceiling that looked the dark light sky. "It's not real, the ceiling. It's just bewitched to look like the night sky," Henry explained to a student walking beside him. "I read about it in Hogwarts: A History,"

Still leading the others ahead whilst following McGonagall, the three friends heard his commenting. Ron rolled his eyes in annoyance whilst Cass puffed through her nose silently annoyed at that boy for being a know it all.

Jenny however kept quiet and focusing on moving on. Henry may have given her flowers but she didn't exactly tolerate him knowing everything.

They came to the wide podium before them and saw a three-legged stool with an old brown wrinkled, pointed hat sat upon on with its wide, round base covered the fat face of the seat. Professor McGonagall stood beside the stool and turned her face to the audience of standing first years. "Spread along a bit, please," she ordered. The students spread along the podium line a bit. "Now Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words,"

After the mention of his name, Dumbledore stood up. His white beard and long hair was well brushed down whilst he wore ruby-brown robes with a matching pointed-crooked hat. "I'd like to say a few words please!" he proclaimed to all the students. "The first years, please note that the Dark Forest is strictly forbidden to all students. Next our caretaker Mr. Filch…" he motioned to an mean looking man who was a Squib (someone with magic ancestry yet no power) standing at the Hall's slightly opened door. He wore filthy, brown clothing that matching his brown frowning eyes and shaggy long hair. A small, furry cat who was called Mrs. Norris stood at his side. "Has asked me to remind you that the third floor corridor on the right hand sid is out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a most painful death. Thank you," he sat back down his grand chair.

McGonagall called out to the first years. "When I call your name, you will come forth. I shall place the Sorting Hat on your head and you will be sorted into your houses," she held the unravelled scroll to allow her eyes to see the list of names whilst she held the hat by its pointy top wit he others.

"Henry Granger!"

Henry's eyes widened in fear at hearing his name called. "Oh no," he whispered to himself in fear. "Okay, just relax, Henry. You've been in worst situations before he told himself quietly as he stepped up the stool,"

"He's mental. I'm telling you both," Ron whispered to Cass and Jenny. Cass nodded in agreement whilst Jenny shrugged her shoulders.

Henry sat on the stool as he faced everyone and Minerva placed the Hat on his head. The moment it was on his head, the folds of the old hat formed eyes and lips. It could talk.

"Mmm…I see. Better be…Gryffindor!"

The table of Gryffindors including Ron's brothers: Percy, Fred and George clapped and cheered. Henry smiled as he sat off the stood with Minerva taking off the hat. He went to the Gryffindor table where he was welcomed with a handshake from Percy, who he sat to.

"Draco Malfoy!" Minerva called. Draco went up to get sorted. Before he could sit down, the hat blurted out: "Slytherin!" just as it was above his head. He walked over to cheering Slytherins clapping but not before he gave a smirk at a hard-staring group of friends.

"There's not a witch or wizard who went bad that wasn't in Slytherin," Ron whispered to Jenny.

"He's right," Cass whispered supporting Ron. "When my dad and his friends were at Hogwarts, they had a rival that was in Slytherin and he ended up bad,"

"What was his name?" Jenny asked quietly.

"I don't know. He never told me,"

"Cassandra Lupin!" Minerva called next from the list.

Cass's mouth gaped a bit and was a bit scared. Ron and Jenny gave her encouraging smiles assuring that they would be friends no matter what. She took a deep breath and stepped up to sit down. The Hat sat on her head and it spoke out, "Mmm, let's see…you are loyal like Hufflepuff yet also brave like Gryffindor, let's see. I'll put you in…Gryffindor!"

The Gryffindor table clapped again and they welcomed her with cheers and she came to sit with them.

"Susan Bones!" Minerva called next. A slightly, shy girl with ginger hair and brown eyes stepped up to be sort. As she did, Jenny was peering around a bit. Her eyes landed on a teacher staring at her. He had black shoulder length hair, a question glance and he wore black wizard robes.

"Oww!" Jenny felt her scar sting and she touched it.

Ron noticed. "Jenny, what is it? Are you okay?"

"It's nothing, Ron. I'm alright," she assured and she just focused back on seeing Susan getting sorted. The teacher staring at her turned away.

"Yes…I know. Hufflepuff!" the Hat proclaimed. The Hufflepuffs known for their kindness and loyalty warmly welcomed Susan.

"Ronald Weasley!" Minerva called next.

Ron felt scared but he went up and sat down. "Hah!" the Sorting Hat went making Ron flinch as it came on his head. "Another Weasley, I know just what to do with you! Better be…Gryffindor!" Ron sighed in relief.

The Gryffindors erupted in laughter again especially Percy and the Twins. They warmly welcomed their young brother with handshakes and pats on the back. Ron sat next to Cass.

"Jenny Potter!"

Jenny's eyes widened as she heard her name called. She took a deep breath and stood up. Everybody sitting along the long four tables saw her as she stood up onto the platform. They whispered amongst themselves at seeing The Girl Who Lived. As she stood up, she saw Hagrid sitting amongst the teachers. He saw her and gave an encouranging smile and nod to sit down.

Jenny sat down facing the audience and the Hat came on her head.

"Hm…difficult. Very difficult," It spoke out loud. "Plenty of courage, I assure you. Not a bad mind either. There's talent, oh yes. And a thirst to prove yourself…but where to put?"

"Not Slytherin. Not Slytherin," Jenny whispered a bit loudly to the Hat whilst closing her eyes.

"Not Slytherin, eh? Are you sure?" the Hat asked unconvinced. "You could be great, you know. It's all here in your head. And Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness, no doubt about that. No? Well if you've sure…"

"Please, not Slytherin. Anything but Slytherin," Jenny pleaded again quietly.

"Better be…Gryffindor!" the Hat proclaimed.

Jenny's eyes brightened and she gave a out a huge cheesy smile. The Gryffindor Table erupted into cheering and clapping the fourth time that night. The teacher's including Dumbledore and Hagrid clapped as well. Jenny made her way to her new house.

Ron moved aside along the bench to make some space between himself and Cass so Jenny could sit between them. She thanked him and sat down where she was welcomed with handshakes from the students closest to her. She then turned her head and Dumbledore raised up his gold goblet to her and she smiled back.

The rest of the studnents were sorted. Crabbe and Goyle were our course sorted into Slytherin with Malfoy along with Millicent Bullstrode, Blaise Zabini and Pansy Parkinson.

Hannah Abbott, Justin Finch-Fletchly and Ernie Macmillon joined Susan in Hufflepuff.

Terry Boot, Michael Corner, Antony Goldstein and Padma Patil were sorted into Ravenclaw.

And finally Lavender Brown, Seamus Finnigan, Neville Longbottom, Parvati Patil and Dean Thomas joined Gryffindor.

Minerva took her seat next to Dumbledore. She picked up a spoon and banged it softly against the side of the glass goblet.

"Your attention please!"

The students silenced.

Dumbledore stood up again and proclaimed: "Let the Feast begin,"

Right after that, dishes of food magically appeared o the tables. The students gasped in surprise. Especially Jenny. They had never seen this much food before. There was met, chips, potatoes, vegetables, salad, a variety of drinks, puddings of all sorts and so much more. Everyone immediately dug in.

"This food is so good," Cass complimented taking a bit out of some chicken.

"You're telling me, Cass. I haven't had a proper meal all my life," Jenny said eating her dinner.

"Are you serious?" Ron asked surprised as he was eating a lot of chicken legs.

"My aunt and uncle barely gave me anything to eat except scraps," Jenny explained.

Cass and Ron were shocked. As was Henry sitting opposite them.

"What kind of people do that?" He asked.

"Ones that resent you for your magic," Jenny answered with wide eyes.

"Well Jenny, you don't have to worry at all. You've got so many months here to annoy yourself with," he assured. "If you don't think about them, you'll be happy,"

"Ahh…thanks Henry," Jenny said giving a smile.

Henry smiled back. His smile and down when he saw Ron scoffing up loads of chicken legs.

"Ron, didn't you mum ever to teach you to not scoff your food like that?"

"Hey, I don't need you telling me what to do," Ron retorted.

"No fighting," Percy cut in and he looked at Henry saying. "As much as I admire your smartness, Henry I would prefer it you wouldn't tell my brother what to do,"

Henry nodded whilst Ron smirked. His smirk was cut off by Percy eyeing him. "and Ron, don't scoff your food like that,"

Ron huffed silently whilst Henry smirked at him. Cass and Jenny rolled their eyes at the sight and continued eating.

Cass reached forward to take the handle of a jug with orange juice when a hand accidently touched hers. Her eyes saw it was Neville and Neville saw it was her. "Oh, sorry," he quickly apologised pulling his hand away. "You can use it first,"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, of course,"

"Thanks," Cass smiled at him before pouring the juice in her gold cup.

As she did, Neville realised that he had to apologise for something. "Oh, by the way. Sorry for bumping into you,"

"Oh, that's okay. You just wanted to get to your toad," Cass answered understanding. "And you didn't meat to. So it's completely find,"

She handed the jug to Neville who took it with a smile.

"Hey, Percy?" Jenny asked getting Percy's attention, "Who's that teacher talking to Professor Quirrell?" she pointed to Quirrell and the black teacher at the teacher's table.

"That's Professor Snape, Head of Slytherin," Percy explained.

"What does he teach?"

"Potions. But everyone knows it's the Dark Arts, he fancies. He's been after Quirrell's job for years. But Dumbledore's never given it to him,"

"How come?"

"No one knows,"

Ron was about to take a chicken leg from the platter of meat when a white see-through head with short brushy hair, a moustache and pale brown eyes popped out. He flinched back in fright. Cass and Jenny did as well when they saw the head as well.

So what you all think of that. A rivalry is grown between Ron and Henry. Wonder how its goanna turn out?
