The future was hopelessly lost to the Tibernotans. No hero in the universe could stop them. They devoured the lives of billions and desecrated lands in darkness. The war against them had been utterly futile. Not a single one of them could be killed, and not a single one of them weren't dangerous.

"Get-a them behind the wall!" Luigi yelled.

"Sir there are too many! We can't risk the lives of the people in the wall just to save others!" A Toad yelled.

While the Toad and Luigi debated, a Koopa Troopa barged into the command room they were in, with a grim look on his face.

"Don't-a tell me..." Luigi realized.

"Sir, the entire group of survivors was killed on the airship. There's nothing left of them." The Koopa stated.

The room fell silent. Nothing but hatred for the shadows surged within Luigi.

"First they take my brother, then my friends, and then..."

Luigi picked up a photo of a woman garbed in a yellow dress.

"And then they took her." Luigi sobbed.

The Toad and Koopa both looked worrisome about the defeated look on Luigi. He had faced countless hardships thanks to these creatures, and he was barely staying on the line between sanity and insanity.

"WHY!" Luigi yelled.

"What do they want?! Why do they need to kill us?! What did we do to them? If anything?! Why do they need to take away everything from us? Why...?" Luigi broke down crying.

BANG!

Luigi immediately recognized that sound. The sound of them coming.

"Sir what do we do?" The Toad asked.

Luigi stared at the door and said nothing. If they had gotten this far already is surely would've meant that the final group of survivors had perished.

"Sir?!" The Koopa asked.

Finally Luigi replied.

"We are the last living things on this planet. And for what? More pain and misery? No, let them come."

The Toad and Koopa began to reject before remembering their own feelings of pain and suffering. They too stared at the door and did nothing.

There is no worse feeling than waiting for death Luigi thought. Perhaps another time would be able to harness these events and change the future. A foolish thought to think. Time was a stream, no matter what happens time will flow the same direction. And fate? Those songs and poems saying we can choose our fate? All lies.

They've come in. They took the Toad and the Koopa immediately. They're coming to take me. Good. Take me to my brother. Take me to my friends. Take me back to her.

"WHAT THE HECK HAPPENS?!" Luigi asked.

"Hmm?" Rosalina responded.

"How did we-a lose to them? I thought the Crystal stars were the key to defeating them." Luigi explained.

"From what I can gather of these memories, they are not the key but what leads to it. Unfortunately for that time, one of them was apparently destroyed by the Tibernotans." Rosalina explained.

"Did you find out which one it is?" Luigi asked.

"Good news or bad news first?" Rosalina responded.

"Good-a news." Luigi replied.

"I heard mention that the one destroyed was located on Isle Delfino."

"And the bad-a news?" Luigi inquired.

"It's already overrun by Tibernotans." Rosalina stated.

"Mama Mia" Luigi sighed.

"Don't look so hopeless." Rosalina said.

"And why's that? Any day now I'll-a be like that future me. Drowning in misery waiting for death. Which ,from-a some very depressing movies, is the number one-a worst feeling." Luigi replied

"There is a way to get the star. I don't know much about the residents of your kingdom but I believe there was a creature that went by the name of Metal Mario in our last Kart tournament." Rosalina stated.

"What on-a earth could Metal Mario do for us?" Luigi asked.

"Easy. Metal Mario is made out of steel, a substance that isn't living. Therefore, the Tibernotans can't kill him. You find him, send him to get the star, and history is instantly changed." Rosalina explained.

"Do you know where he is?" Luigi asked.

"Unfortunately I do not. I've spent most of my coma time trying to find links to the future but I can't trace down anything about his whereabouts. You'll have to find him yourselves." Rosalina answered.

"So I assume that-a means you won't be actually waking up anytime soon." Luigi asked.

"Yes." Rosalina replied.

Rosalina began to disappear into the fog and left Luigi alone again.

"Well I assume the space lady won't be coming back again." A man behind Luigi said

"You again..." Luigi acknowledged.

"The one and only." The man replied.

"So what's-a tonight's horrible event?" Luigi asked.

"No sight today, but actually, now you will feel." The man replied before snapping his fingers.

"Gaaahh!" Luigi winced

"Remember me now Luigi! Remember the Green Thunder!" The man said.

"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" Luigi yelled.

"The Green Thunder never backs from a challenge, but for now I'll need a new body. Let's give your friends a proper reunion with Mr. L." Mr. L announced.

Luigi then fainted out of sheer pain.

"..igi...ke..up"

"..ke..up"

"Wake up Luigi!"

Mr. L flung his eyes open to see the sight of the man he hated the most.

"Hello Mario." Mr. L said.

"How was-a the dream again. Was it the one with-" Mario was cut short as Mr. L clutched Mario's throat.

"I believe the green man you are looking for is in another castle." Mr. L teased.

Mr. L kept ahold of Mario's neck until he fainted.

Mr. L now with his restored body proceeded to the treasure room.

"Look at all these wonderful stars!" Mr. L admired.

"Now, which one do I choose?"

Mr. L scanned the stars until he came across a emerald colored star.

"That's the one."

Mr. L grabbed the emerald Crystal Star and bolted out the treasury before picking up a cape feather from a nearby item box.

Mr. L found his way to the edge of the airship and prepared his departure before someone tapped him on the shoulder.

"Didn't think you were the flying type." Daisy pointed out.

"He isn't." Mr. L replied.

"Beg pardon?" Daisy asked

Mr. L, festered with the yellow clad woman in front of him, proceeded to take a bob-omb from his back pocket.

"You either make the choice to leave me alone or the choice to blow up this pathetic airship." Mr. L warned.

"Luigi? What's wrong with you?" Daisy questioned.

Mr. L jumped off the airship while simultaneously throwing a live bob-omb on to the airship.

"Be sure to ask your friends if they live!" Mr. L yelled.

The airship erupted into flames.

"Ohohoho! That little rapscallion thought you wouldn't have a genius around. And here I was thinking he had access to all of Luigi's thoughts. Or at least, would've actually used them." E. Gadd proclaimed.

"It's a good thing you still had-a FLUDD around." Mario commented.

"An unprepared scientist is a worthless scientist." E. Gadd replied.

"IT WAS A PLEASURE TO ASSIST YOU IN YOUR ENDEAVORS MARIO." FLUDD stated.

"Thanks-a bud. I sure do remember our time at Isle Delfino." Mario acknowledged.

"I still find it very peculiar that my inventions ended up helping both Mario brothers." commented.

"Maybe that's a sign." Mario joked.

Mario continued to pump water into the fire, the flames while large were steadily going down. After the flames were gone, an emergency meeting was held.

"So, it's him again isn't it?" Bowser asked.

Mario nodded.

"I thought Mr. L was just Luigi hypnotized, why would he be back?" Peach stated.

"It's entirely possible that whatever methods were used to hypnotize Luigi are different than the kind people in the Mushroom Kingdom use. Whatever Luigi was turned into must have still lurked within him after he snapped back." E. Gadd said.

"So basically we're dealing with evil alter ego Luigi?" Daisy said.

"I would rather call it 'annoying, boastful, and arrogant' Luigi." Bowser replied.

Mario stayed silent the whole time. The levels of seriousness were now hitting him.

"Mario are you ok?" Peach asked.

"... I think I need a minute." Mario replied. He then walked out of the room.

Luigi, I know you could've left something behind, Mario thought. This couldn't have happened over night.

Mario searched through Luigi's room. There had to have been something that would give them some kind of clue as to how they would solve this problem.

As Mario continued to search he noticed a book. The cover read 'Dream Diary'

Mario took the book and opened a page.

"Today I saw some dancing lasagna in my dream!..." Mario noticed that the date made this entry very old. He flipped through the book until he found the most recent entry.

"Mario, if you're reading this Mr. L is back. He's been festering in my dreams and mind ever since this whole shadow ordeal. You need to know how to get the next Crystal Star without me. Find Metal Mario, and go to Isle Delfino. It's festered with Tibernotans but Metal Mario is immune to their attacks. You need to find him and you need to-"

BANG!

Mario dropped the book and ran to the source.

There was nothing but smoke in the way. Everyone on board was confused and shocked.

"Bowser, do you-a know what happened?!" Mario asked.

"Something crashed onto the airship. According to the deck below it weighs a TON! Probably a misfired Bullet-Bill." Bowser replied.

As the smoke cleared a figure emerged. Each step with a metallic clang. As the shape got closer it began to take the form of familiar princess.

"Peach is that you? Daisy?" Mario asked.

The figure finally emerged from the smoke. It was gold and pink. It also looked exaclty like Peach.

"Hello... Mario." Pink Gold Peach stated.
