Their relationship with the vampires had become strained as of late. It was almost a full day since the town was attacked and the ministry came to wipe the memories of the muggles. What a nightmare that was. Kingsley came to Forks wands blazing, he wanted answers from everyone involved.

That bit, while annoying, was bearable. Things really got out of hand when he ordered that not only the muggles get wiped but also the Cullens.

So yeah, relations were strained between them.

Hermione was downstairs sitting on the sofa with a book in hand; reading. Something that brought her great joy but something she hadn't done in sometime. While most people hated rereading she loved it. Things she missed the first time around just popped off the page. She was a firm believer that you hadn't read a book until you've done so twice.

"How you doing Her'?" Ron asked, joining her on the sofa.

"Fine." She muttered.

"What you reading?" Neville asked, taking a seat in the chair in the corner. Hermione mutter her response the same why she had with Ron. "So how you feeling?"

"Fine." she muttered a little annoyed she had to reread a line.

"So hows everyone doing eh?" George asked walking into the kitchen. The boys nodded their responses. "And you Hermione?"

"If someone asks me how i'm feeling on more time!" she said slamming her book shut. "I swear, what is with you guys?"

Both Ron and Neville looked at each other, and she had a feeling that George was sharing looks with them behind her back.

"What!" Hermione said, really starting to get annoyed.

No one asked her.

"What are we going to do about the Vam- Cullens?" George asked, monotone. "They undoubtedly don't trust us right now. And who can blame them. What, one day in their town and we get raided by Death eaters?"

"Yep." Neville said looking grim. "Then comes Kingsley making it ten times worse."

"I say we give it some time." Hermione said, opening back up her book. No one was asking her questions anymore but she still couldn't concentrate on it. Her and Alice weren't dating but they had been in a good place; comfortable.

Now she didn't know where to go from here. They hadn't spoken all day. But she figured that was as much her fault as Alice's. Hermione had Alice's phone number but hadn't made a an attempt to talk to her. She knew the longer they didn't talk to each other the more awkward it would be when they finally did.

"Thinking about Alice?"Ron asked, he noticed the sad look on her face. "Still no call or text?"

She shook her head.

"Why don't you call her?" She just shook her head; as childish as it was Hermione didn't want to be the first one to call her.

"Hermione can I give you some advice?" He didn't wait for her response "you should give her a call. You can't just sit back and do nothing and wait. That...girl, has been all over you since you got here. It's not fair to make her make the first move all the time. Trust me from personal experience, it makes it seem like you don't care either way." Hermione just sat there shocked.

"Well look at that, my baby brother dropping knowledge." George said monotone, walking into the room. "I have to agree tho. Just give her a call." Out the corner of her eye she saw Neville shake his head in agreement.

"It's late I'm going to bed." Hermione said.

"Hermione!" Ron pleaded.

"What! It's really is getting late."

Counting sheep was an stupid idea, Hermione thought. She was just lying in bed, wide awake.

She grabbed her phone and looked for Alice's number. It was currently 4 in the morning. Better late than never she thought before hitting the call button. She picked up on the first ring.

"Hello my little Mage." Alice's voice was nice and silky against her ear. "Couldn't sleep?"

"No." She admitted "I hope I'm not bothering you."

"Never." Alice said in her silky voice, her phone voice Hermione decided to name it.

"Sorry I didn't speak to you all day." Hermione whispered. "It was wrong of me, I was being a coward."

Alice laughed "Aren't you in the brave house? Where was that bravery at?"

"Hey, be nice!" She said laughing with her. "And I assure you that I'm brave."

"Well why don't you come over and show me just how brave you are."

"Don't tempt me." Hermione said, biting her lip.

"Boo, well why don't you tell about your bravery then?"

"Sure, did I ever tell about the time I robbed a bank?" She had to move the phone from her ear, as Alice began to question her loudly. "And stole and rode a dragon to escape."

"No fucking way!" Hermione heard Emmett yell.

"Emmett!" Alice yelled back. "Sorry, about that."

"It's okay." She said before going in her tale.

"Wow." Was all Alice could say.

Hermione laughed "I really should get to bed. Thanks for answering my call."

"Can I come over and cuddle?" She could tell that Alice, maybe even Emmett, was waiting on the edge of their seats. Knowing this brought a smile to her face as she gave her answer.

"The doors open."
