Recognize. Flash. Zero. Four.

"…I'm already there, you go ahead and call the others." Barry Allen said into his cell phone and flipped it shut.

Artemis arched her eyebrows. She was seated on the couch, the exhausted cats asleep by her feet on the other end of said of couch. She'd never seen the Flash out of uniform, though it wasn't like he had to hide from her, she knew his name. He'd apparently left in a hurry, even by a speedster's standards. He was dressed in fluorescent green pajama pants and a white t-shirt that said 'Greased Lightning' on it. The t-shirt was slightly askew, his blond hair was wind tousled, and his tennis shoes were untied.

It was a wonder he hadn't tripped over the laces.

He was by her side in an instant. "OlliesaidWallywashurt?" he said at super speed. It sounded like someone had hit the fast forward button on his audio. He was just this side of sounding like a chipmunk.

Artemis's eyes narrowed and she held up one finger, her well of patience already severely depleted by Wally's yowling, her sleep deprivation and her lack of coffee. "I don't talk anything close to speedster talk, so you either need to slow it down and repeat that or sit down and wait till the rest get here."

Barry took a deep breath. "Oliver said something happened to the team?"

Artemis nodded and pointed at the pile of multicolored fur at her feet. "Reason number five hundred and six why I hate fighting magic users."

Barry starred at the five cats in shock. "Those are…?"

Artemis lightly toed the orange tabby awake. "Hey 'Bay Watch', your uncle's here." Wally yawned, emerald eyes glaring at her as he gave an irritated meow. The blond archer glared right back. "Now look what you did 'Kid Klutz' you woke the others up."

The orange tabby very deliberately stuck out his tongue at her.

Barry sighed, gently scooping up his nephew. "Well, if I'd had any doubts about you being Wally…"

Wally pulled his whiskers back in a cat grin. "Well, you're taking this awful well Uncle B." Looking down at the others he called, "Bet my mentor takes it better than all of you guy's mentors!"

Kaldur shook his head. "I fear that is a bet I will most certainly lose. Atlantians do not hate cats, but we are not overly fond of them. As we are essentially intelligent fish, they tend to mistake us for a somewhat enlarged version of the fish they are fed."

"Cat's mistake Atlantians for tuna?" Robin asked. "Or do they mistake them for goldfish?" Kaldur shrugged. Robin flicked his ears thoughtfully. "Hmm, I'll have to look into that."

The zeta tubes began to whir to life again.

"Well, we're about to find out who wins Wally's bet…" Conner mewed.

It was a very tired set of heroes gathered around the table in Mount Justice's conference room.

Artemis deposited her armload of furry joy on the table, then stood still so Robin could hop off his perch on her shoulder. Barry had told her to take the team to the conference room so they could be on semi-equal level with the League.

So far Barry was here, still cradling his orange furred nephew. Also having arrived were Red Tornado, who'd been on monitor duty in the Watchtower and had since been relieved, and Black Canary. Circumstances had yet to be explained to them, and they seemed content to wait for now. Just like Barry, Dinah looked like she'd literally rolled out of bed and come here. Dressed in dark purple pajama shorts and a black spaghetti strap and slippers, her attire…stood out.

Dinah sank into a chair with a groan. "Barry, would you please stop playing with the kitten and get some coffee started in the kitchen? I have a feeling a lot of us are going to need it."

Barry nodded, reluctantly setting Wally down. "Stay out of trouble." He told the cat fondly, and sped from the room.

Dinah starred after him, then gave Artemis a somewhat blank look. "Did he just tell that kitten to stay out of trouble?"

"Hey! Watch who you call a kitten!" Wally mewed indignantly.

Robin sniggered. "Not so fun when it happens to you is it…?"

Recognize. Green Arrow. Zero. Eight. The computer chimed. There was a slight delay, and then it announced the arrival of two more. Recognize. Aquaman. Zero. Six. Martian. Manhunter. Zero. Seven.

With the exception of J'Onn, who had a questionable sleep pattern and organic clothing, none of the new arrivals looked any more awake or heroically dressed than Barry and Dinah.

"Thank god he took time to get dressed." Dinah muttered under her breath, her eyes fastened on Ollie. "If he'd shown up here in boxers…"

Artemis winced, dropping her face in her hands. "No offense Dinah, but that was so not a mental image I wanted."

"Pretty sure the rest of us could've done without that little picture too." Wally mewed in agreement.

"It's not often you see an Atlantian in pajama's though." M'Gann giggled in answer.

Conner cocked his head, eyeballing the king of Atlantis. "Kaldur, do you wear those?"

Kaldur flicked his tail, slightly embarrassed. "Just as I dress in surface clothes while here in the Mountain, I also use the surface sleep wear. Atlantian clothes are for below the water's surface."

"You don't have to dress to fit in Kaldur." Robin mewed, nuzzling his friend encouragingly .

M'Gann wasn't the only one to note Aquaman's clothing. Barry zipped in at that exact second and came to a dead stop, jaw dropping open a little at the site of the ocean king. "…Orin, what are you wearing?" he laughed.

Aquaman gave him a semi-irritated look.

Atlantian sleepwear had apparently been designed to be flowy and comfortable. The shirt was an exceptionally loose tank top made from a shimmery blue fabric, it almost looked like silk but not quite. The pants were just as generous with the fabric. A deep russet brown color, the pants pooled around his feet until his toes could just barely be seen. The whole ensemble was completely dry, as the zeta tubes transported the person, not the air or water around them.

"Those pajamas make you look like you're melting!" Barry laughed.

Recognize. Batman. Zero. Two.

Ollie finally looked over his shoulder at the Atlantian and did a double take. "Are you serious? You've got enough fabric there to make a parachute out of those!"

The light faded from the zetas and the dark knight stepped from the tube in full costume, a coal black duffle bag dangling from one hand. He was most definitely the most awake and alert of those gathered there. He paused a moment to take in the scene.

"None of you exactly look your best either." He stated matter of factly, in response to Ollie's comment. "Now if you're all through critiquing each other's fashion sense, would someone please explain why I have four teenage costumes with no teens in them?"

He dropped the duffle bag on the floor to illustrate his point.

A meow drew their attention to the table. Kaldur was sitting on the very edge, sea grey eyes fixed on his mentor and king. He mewed again and placed one forepaw over his chest, giving an awkward bow.

Orin starred. "Kaldur'ahm?"

The Siamese nodded.

Batman looked to Artemis. "Explain."

Artemis gulped nervously under his gaze and straightened. She didn't know what Robin was talking about when he said the dark knight wasn't all that scary. She certainly didn't envy Kaldur his job of having to report to Batman. "I was on patrol with Ollie, and I got home around eleven thirty. I woke up a little before two o clock to find five cats sitting on my bed. Once they'd gotten me to understand, I brought them here and made a few calls to Ollie and Zatanna to see if maybe she or her dad could do anything."

Batman and the others had come closer to the table during her report.

Artemis tried to ignored her shrinking personal bubble and plowed on. "We've mostly been communicating through a mix of charades and yes and no questions. As far as I can tell, they ran into Klarion. Wally either said or did something stupid and Klarion turned them into cats. And somehow after that they found their way to my house."

Robin moved closer to the edge and his mentor and meowed.

Batman looked down. "Robin."

Robin nodded. "It's me." He affirmed. Without turning his head or taking his eyes off the Batman he spoke to the other cats. "Watch this guys." The former boy wonder widened his eyes a little bit to make them look bigger and allowed his ears to droop ever so slightly to the side. The small black cat sidled forward to balance on the edge of the tabletop, the toes of all four paws sticking out into space.

Giving a piteous mew Robin reached out with one paw, trying to snag Batman's cape and nearly overbalancing himself in the process.

Batman frowned. "Robin?"

The black and white kitten reached out a paw and pawed at Batman's cape again, this time actually managing to snag the thick fabric. He gave another piteous mew, and his meaning was crystal clear. For a long moment, the dark knight didn't respond. Then the hard line of his mouth softened and he held out his hand.

Robin gave a happy meow and raced up his father's arm, agile as a monkey.

A slight smile touched Batman's lips as he cradled the small cat, Robin purring as loud and hard as he could as he arched his back and rubbed against the caped crusader's jaw. He nuzzled his father fondly, and his purring only increased in intensity when he felt Batman gently stroke his fur.

"Well what do you know…" Wally murmured, stunned.

"…the Batman does have a heart…" Artemis whispered, so softly only the cats could hear her.

But neither the bat nor bird seemed to hear or care.
