Ru's POV

She kept appearing over and over again. Trying to take control. I kept saying no, trying to fight her. But my strength was waning. I was growing weaker in my defense against her. And after the doctors stopped the hallucinations they moved on to use of scalpels and needles. A different type of torture that affected the physical state as well as the mental state that was already shot to hell.

I screamed as they dragged the scalpel down my arm. They used no anesthetic or sterilized tools. I could tell because the burning wouldn't stop. I smelled blood and metal all around me. I couldn't stop screaming. It hurt so much.

"Let me take over." She kept echoing in my head, "Let me make these guys suffer for what they did."

All I could do was scream and cry. It had been almost a month since me and Sky were brought here. So far we had only three days were we weren't put through something sent from hell. But we were too shaken up to make much conversation with each other.

When we did we would ask to see if either one of us had had the chance to contact the others. We hadn't. Sky had told me, when she had stopped crying that she had been to heaven and back at least four times. Which wasn't a good thing.

But when I was drifting on the break days between life and death I heard Sky give me some good news. She had a celestial spirit in contract with her. The spirit, Nida of the Portal, had said she would help the others come and find us. My heart lifted a bit. Then I heard it beat out of whack.

I held my chest and gritted my teeth. This hadn't happened since I was really little almost unable to remember. Something must have been wrong with the lacrama in my chest. I gripped my chest tightly and tried to take deep breaths. "Let me take over, I can ease your pain." She said in my head.

"You're the one that's doing it. Leave me alone." I muttered through my grit teeth. "You know you won't be able to resist for long." She whispered, "Just give in now and it will be less painful."

Then she left me alone. I sat in the darkness. Where was Sky at this moment? Where was Luna, Natsu, Lucy, Retsu, Takeru and everyone else? Did they forget me? No they couldn't have. I was supposed to give Lucy that new book she wanted to read. And me and Retsu were supposed to spar after I came back. And me and Luna were supposed to go on a request together just me and her. And that date with Takeru. He couldn't have forgotten so easily.

They were all my friends. I believed in them that they would come here and save us. But it had been so long since I last saw their faces. Whenever I tried to remember them I would get those fake images of betrayal and abandonment.

They kept coming so often. When I thought of Luna I would get that last smile before she was gone. Takeru that image with the other girl. Retsu, he wasn't even there. Everyone else just thought that I was air. These were all fake images, I know they were. I kept telling myself they were.

I clutched my pounding head. Then I remembered something. Slowly I held out my shaky hands. A ball of water formed in my hand. "Water mirror," I whispered, "show me Luna."

The water rippled once, then twice then stood still. Nothing appeared. It stayed clear. "Show me Luna." I whispered a little louder. Still nothing happened. "Luna." I whispered to the ball before it crystalized and broke.

The shards fell around me. I stared in shock. I could never do that. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't. I heard laughing echo in my head, "let me take over, let me take over." She said over and over again.

I screamed and held my head, "No, never, I don't want to hurt anyone!" I screamed.

I heard my name being called over and over. "Ru." Someone said, "Ru wake up." I opened my eyes.

Light filtered in. I blinked several times. Was everything a dream? I looked at my hands and arms. Scratches lined them, my nails were longer than normal and my hair was matted. No this wasn't a dream. I did the same thing. I made a ball of water and chanted the spell, "water mirror, and show us Luna of Fairy Tail." I chanted. Still nothing happened. I repeated the spell three more times using different names.

Nothing happened. The water felt heavy in my hand and I let it drop. The same thing happened like the last ball. It crystalized and smashed into the ground. "Ru, what's going on?" Sky asked, "You've been more stressed out lately." Sky commented.

I was speechless, "I can't use my magic." I whispered. Sky looked at me. Then she summoned a dagger, then a sword, then an ax. Her magic still worked.

I tried almost all of my spells. "Water sword." I chanted. I summoned the sword out of water but it crashed to the ground crystalized. The same for my punches and kicks. I couldn't use my earth dragon slaying magic. I tried.

I collapsed to the ground, "No." I whispered. Sky patted me on the back, "it's alright, they will find us." I curled up in a ball feeling useless.

I felt…broken. Broken, useless, lonely, lame, unforgiving, forgotten. I looked at the amulet around my neck. The one thing that let me believe I still had hope. Cracks danced around it. Looking so fragile almost ready to break.

I wanted to check my bracelet or my earring but those were gone. Confiscated by the doctors when I tried to use them to escape. All I had left was my amulet but it didn't do anything but seal her. If that was gone what was going to happen?

I was so weak that I'm sure I wouldn't have any strength to fight her back for control over my body. I cried. "I'm sorry Sky." I whispered, "I don't think I will be in control for much longer."

Sky looked confused then her face went a little paler than it already was. "No, you have to fight, you have to keep going. Don't worry the guild will come after us. I'm sure of it." She encouraged.

"Sky," I said to her looking her straight in the eyes, "if I lose control of myself and she takes over, I want you to run as far as you can. Promise me."

Her eyes were dull and almost lifeless but I saw a glimpse of hope. She gulped then nodded, "Alright."

I smiled through my tears, "thank you." Sky wiped away my tears for me. "'Friends stick together until the end no matter what, that's what it means to be nakama." She said smiling weakly.

Then she sat by me against the wall. "When we get out of here and recover, let's be friends okay?" Sky suggested. I nodded silently, "that would be nice."

She smiled then laid down on my shoulder. Shortly later I heard the soft breathing from her. She was asleep. "Mama," I whispered to Earthia the earth dragon, "Please give us sweet dreams."

Sky's POV

The next day the doctors came for us both. They pulled us apart and tied us up. Then they dragged us to the same room. A giant tank of water was sitting in the middle of the room. I stared at it then at the doctors around. But this time they weren't dressed up like doctors.

They had on all black clothes. From head to toe all black. It was creepy. He dragged us to the tanks. I struggled with all the strength I had. But the hold on me didn't slacken. They sat us at the end of the tank and bounded cement blocks to the end of our feet.

I stared in horror, they were going to drown us. I looked at Ru. She looked calm about it all. "What are you calm for?" I shouted at her, "They're going to drown us!"

The guy that held me pushed me in the deep tank. I held my breath before I went under. I heard my ears go pop from the pressure. I struggled. I needed to get the bonds off me. As I struggled I looked at Ru from the corner of my eyes. She was in the water as well, but she didn't struggle. Her eyes were closed and it didn't look like she was breathing.

Could she not swim and drowned easily? I struggled again harder, I had to save her. My lungs burned badly I was in desperate need of air. Finally after five minutes I couldn't take it anymore. I let out all the air in my lungs. I sucked in water instead of oxygen and I started choking. I struggled for all I was worth.

Slowly I could feel the water fill my lungs with each desperate gasp for air. Finally I felt my consciousness start to fade. 'So I'm going to die like this.' I thought, 'worse way to go out.'

Then I felt my body get yanked upward out of the water. As soon as I was on solid ground I threw up and coughed up as much of the water as I could. I coughed and I puked until I could barely support myself. "Sit her down." Someone ordered, "Yes boss." The person near me said.

I felt myself get picked up roughly and then dropped somewhere nearby. I forced my eyes open and saw Ru get dragged limply from the tank. I wanted to call out to her in fear that she was dead but decided not to. She didn't cough or anything, just hung limply.

"Hey boss, she's breathing." The guy holding her called out. "In fact, she's not even affected by the water."

The boss nodded, "then put the new drug in the water. See how she likes that." I watched desperately as they dumped a bucket full of yellow liquid. A few minutes later it dissolved and disappeared.

Then they dropped Ru in the water. Immediately as she hit the water she started struggling. She screamed in the water, her words coming out as bubbles. Bubbles formed around her like you would see if you put peroxide on an infected cut.

But this wasn't peroxide. It was something even more deadly and very painful. Not even five minutes in Ru went limp and stopped struggling. "Take her out." The boss ordered. Guy went in with gloves on and pulled her out. Ru was steaming.

Then she puked up blood. She coughed and sputtered. "Wash her off we don't want her getting that stuff everywhere." The boss commanded.

They washed Ru off with water and dragged us off. I blacked out after they put us in the electric chairs. I woke up back in the white room. Ru was nearby but she was smoking badly. Must have still been from earlier with that stuff in the water or the electric chair that we were just in.

My limbs were shaking badly but I managed to crawl over to her. She was breathing hard and shuddering all the time. "Ru, can you hear me?" I asked her, "What happened? What was that stuff?"

She didn't answer me just open and close her mouth like a fish. Her neck was steaming badly. I moved the cloth around her neck to see slits running the sides of her neck to her collar bone. They were steaming.

I stared, 'she has gills.' I thought with surprise, 'no wonder she didn't choke on the water the first time.'

I went to try and touch them but I heard Ru wheeze out one word. "no." she wheezed. It looked like she was having a really hard time breathing. Almost like every time I had an asthma attack. I wanted to reach into my bag for my spare inhaler but forgot, they had taken our bags weeks ago.

I didn't even have the extra one that I carry around with me. So all I could do for her was to sit next to her and comfort her. A few hours later she had calmed down enough that she was sleeping soundly. Suddenly a white figure in armor appeared in front of me.

"My lady, your friends are on their way as we speak. I will leave you two here and go guide them. Please stay well." Nida bowed. I nodded, "please hurry Nida."

She nodded and disappeared. I glanced again at Ru. I was surprised to see that her hair was starting to turn white strand by strand slowly. Her face contorted in pain in her sleep and she kept murmuring no.

Then she snapped her eyes open. Her once caramel brown eyes were now starting to glow white. "Skylar, please get away." Ru said. Tears streamed down her face, "I can't hold her back for long."

I just stared at her, before shaking my head, "no I won't leave you. We're in it together. That's what friends are for." I smiled at her, "And I will see that we get out of here alive."

such a sweet ending. did i forget to mention that Ru was crying tears of blood? i guess i left out that small detail. whoops. but its alright, their friend and Sky would never leave a friend in need, even if she might die from being too close. the girl in white is closing in, closer and closer to taking over. if that happens there is no gauranteeing anyone's safety. not even Ru, herself. i decided to make a back story on how the girl in white started. because even i almost forgot where she came from. so until next time, look forward to the next chapter. Titania signing out!
