The next day I woke up screaming from my dream, Realising too late that I awoke Prim.
"Katniss are you ok?" Prim asks, stirring on the bed beside me.
"It's ok go back to sleep it was just a dream." I replied still in shock.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" I think for a moment about wether or not to tell my sister about my nightmare. Would she actually be able to make me feel better or would it just be a waste of time, but then I realise that if anyone can make me feel better, its her.
"Ok erm... Well me and Peeta where in the square and some peacekeepers came and held out a gun towards Peeta. Then I was grabbed by one of the other peacekeepers and everything went black but then I heard a gun shot and Peeta cry out then I woke up." I say feeling the tears roll down my cheek. I honestly thought that I had lost him but luckily it was just a dream. I still seem to have this horrible feeling deep down that something is wrong though.
Prim reaches out and puts her arms around me in a friendly hug. I hug her back which calms me down a little bit. "It's ok I'm sure Peetas fine."
I'm sure he is, I thought, but last time Peeta entered my dreams was the night before the bakery incident. I knew this dream had to mean something and I was determined to find out what it was. But first I needed to see if Peeta is ok.
I sat there on the edge of my bed in fear of what truth my intense dream would hold, "I need to see Peeta", I stand up and walk over to the other side of the room to the chair that holds my clothes trying to stop the tears from flowing.
I feel Prims hand on my arm forcing me to turn around. "Katniss.." I try to let go of some of my fear for the sake of my little sister but there is still something lurking in the back of my mind. "Are you sure your ok?"
I turn around and look into her worried eyes. "Yeh I'm sure."
"I know your lying Katniss please tell me the truth?" Prim says letting go of my arm.
"I have no idea if I'm alright but I will be once I see if Peeta is safe."
"What makes you think that he won't be safe?" Prim asks in a confused manner.
"Because the last time I had a dream about Peeta was the night before the bakery blew up." I see the look in her eyes, she has a suspicion.
"Well we will see him on the way."
I start asking question to myself. What if Peeta isn't at the bakery? What if he isn't in school? Could anything have happened? Could his mother have found out how the bakery blew up? Would his mother actually severely hurt him? ...
An hour later me and Prim are walking towards town to get to school. When we get to the bakery we stand outside for a few minutes but no one comes out. Eventually I can't stand it any longer and I start to run towards the bakery. I dont care if Mrs Mellark finds me, I just need to know if he is alright.
When I make it inside I find Leaven behind the counter. "Katniss thank god your here have you seen Peeta anywhere Dad and Rye are out looking for him now?"
"Oh no." I say under my breath. "I thought he would be here?" I say to Leaven.
"No, no-ones seen him all morning." My breathing starts picking up and I'm out the bakery before I know it.
"Is everything ok Katniss?" Prim asks.
"Yes everything is fine Prim lets just get to school come on." I drag her along a little roughly for an 11 year old.
"Katniss something is obviously wrong just tell me." She says.
"Fine Prim..." I turn around and face her the tears coming back, "Peeta is missing are you happy now, I knew something was up and the last time I saw him I argued with him what If I never see him again Prim what would I do?" I know I'm kind of over-reacting, Peeta is probably just sitting at the bench under the Willow tree where we always meet eachother.
"Katniss everything is fine I'm sure he is already at school." She says trying to calm me down. She's probably right but I dont have a good feeling about this.
"No Prim everything is not fine, did you not hear me Peeta is missing nobody has seen him all morning which means I was probably the last person to see him what if something happened to him on the way home from school?" I say shaking my little sister.
"Katniss he will be ok Peeta is strong, lets just get to school and if he isn't in at all today then we will go and look for him." She pulls herself away from me and I feel guilty about what I just did but she just starts to stroke my arms trying to comfort me.
"Ok Prim lets just get to school ok, hopefully he will be there." I can't stop worrying about Peeta what if he ran away because of our argument, I can't mean that much to him, can I?
When we get to school I don't see Peeta anywhere in the schoo yard. The first place I go is to the Willow tree but the bench is empty. This is hardly any blonde heads in the school yard and its easy to tell that none of them are him. Thats when I start to worry more. I had been telling myself that he would be here but he isnt.
I leave Prim with her friend Lilly and walk inside. Within 5 minutes I find Delly, she doesn't seem to be with Gale today which is good because I don't think I can forgive him yet.
"Hi Delly." I say and she turns around to face me. Surprise registers on her face and she hugs me quickly.
"Katniss! Are you ok?" She looks worried.
"Yeh why wouldn't I be?" I ask confused
"People have said that something happened but they didn't Give me the details they just said that you where hurt or something." She says and I shake my head.
"No I'm fine but have you seen Peeta anywhere?" I ask.
"No I haven't seen him since yesterday. But I talked to him yesterday to see if he wanted to walk home with me but he said that he was going to stay at school for a while an he looked like he had been crying. He just wasn't acting like himself, why what's happened?" She says, clearly worried.
"He's gone missing, Leaven said that nobody has seen him since last night." I feel the tears coming back but I push them away for as long as I can.
"Did anything happen yesterday that might upset him?" she looks as if she knows what is going on but still hadn't figured it out yet.
"Well I had an argument with him a very bad argument and when my sister left school she saw him crying." The tears are flowing now from the thoughts of yesterday.
"I think I might know where he is. When something upsets him, normally his mother, he goes somewhere where he can calm down and stays there. But you best let me sort it out if he is upset with you I'll come and find you later." She says and sets off running in the other direction, locking her locker on the way.
In first lesson I sit next to Madge and she looks at me like she had seen a ghost. I guess she heard that I wasnt in too. What the hell has everyone been saying? "What are you doing here?"
"Erm it's school I'm meant to be." I reply.
"But are you ok?" She asks. I think about the question and I am most definitely not fine but I can tell her that.
"I suppose I'm fine."
"I got told that you and Peeta had gone missing and no one had seen from you since school yesterday." She asks, still shocked. "I thought you might have run off with him or something to get away from all the rumours.
"No I'm fine but Peeta is missing and who told you that?" I ask her. I'm gonna ignore the fact that she thinks I would just run away from my problems instead of just facing them.
"Peetas missing?! Oh no this is terrible what happened?" Madge has never been the crying type but now I can see the tears forming in her eyes.
"I don't know I went to see him this morning because- well - erm to see if he was ok but Lev told me that he was midding and that nobody had seen him since last night." Madge pulls out a hankerchief to rid her face of tears.
"Does anyone else know?" She asks.
"Yeh Delly Cartwright she has gone to find him." I reply. I dont know why thats important but I tell her anyway.
"Ok well tell me when they find him and I have to ask is all this rumour about the baby true?" She whispers to me. I guess I was wrong about her not believing the rumour. I honestly thought I knew her better than that.
"No non of it is true Peeta an I are just friends that's all and I'm not pregnant and I'm never going to be." I say to her just as the teacher walks through the door.
"Ok I believe you." She replies and we turn to the teacher, waiting for the moment I get to leave here and go find Peeta.
At dinner I find Delly and ask about him. Hopefully she has already been where she was going. I dont know how she was going to get there though unless his secret place is in the school grounds.
"I couldn't find him he wasn't there I don't know where he is and I asked around and nobody has seen him but I asked Gale and he said that he saw him leaving the bakery around 3 this morning but didn't see where he was going." What the hell was Gale doing near the Bakery at 3 this morning?
"Ok thank you Delly I appreciate it." I reply.
"Any time Katniss but you might want to talk to Gale about it." She says.
"Ok I'll talk to him after school will you tell him to meet me by the Willow tree in the school yard?" I ask her. I'm not too keen on talking to Gale but I need to find out where Peeta is and I dont care who I have to talk to to find out.
"Yeh sure I hope you find him Katniss tell me if you do please?" She asks and I nod.
"Of course I will Delly see you later." I turn around and walk back out of the Cafeteria and outside to get some air.
When we get to last lesson I still haven't seen Peeta. Last lesson is PE so it might help take my mind of Peeta being missing. Maybe a little bit of physical activity will help me clear my head.
"Ok today we will do some cross country around the school, is everyone here?" The teacher asks, looking around. "We're only missing a few people. Its okay, we can do it withouth them."
We run 15 times around the school an I'm in front almost the entire time. Most of the girls have stopped a few laps ago but I carry on running with some of the boys. I'm used to running with the boys though because most of the girls cant run as much as me. Some of the boys even cant but I'm used to that. I could run for ages and still only be a little bit tired.
When I'm nearing the end I see Gina's foot go out a little too late and I try to jump over it. My foot catches on hers and I stamp both my feet onto the ground. They both bend the wrong way and I fall to the ground.
"What was that for?" I shout, trying to get up but the pain is bringing tears to my eyes, so I stay put on the floor.
"What I don't know what your on about." Gina says too innocently.
"Yes you do you tripped me over!" I shout in return. She steps back away from me and stands with her friends who are giggling to themselves.
"No I didn't stop lying."
Madge walks up to me and helps me up. "Come on Katniss you've had a bad enough day as it is just drop it lets get you to the school nurse." She helps me up, even though the pain is hard to deal with and we get about 3 steps before I fall again. Another arm helps from the other side and I turn to see River Cassus standing there helping. I honestly didnt even know he knew I existed.
When we get to the nurse she writes Madge a note to give to the teacher and tells her that I'm going to be there the rest of the lesson.
"Ok Katniss what happened this time?" She asks me once Madge and River have gone back to PE.
"One if the girls in my class tripped me over on the last lap and my feet bent the wrong way." I reply, truthfully.
"Ok let me have a look." She looks at my feet, her fingers prodding where th bone is and her hands moving my feet around to see just how injured my ankles actually are. "Ok well there is bruising all around both ankles and it looks like you have sprained both your ankles. Is there anyone that can help you home?"
"Well I have my sister but she isn't strong enough." I say, thinking about the one person tha could actually get me home: Peeta.
"Okay well what about your mother?"
"She won't come over here to help me home." I reply. Mum never comes to school for anything. If Prim had a problem with a teacher, which she never had, Mum wouldnt come, I would have to go and talk to the teacher.
"Well do you have any friends that could help?"
"I have one but he's ... ill." I lie. "Then I have Madge Undersee, the girl who was here earlier. She is the only other person that would help me home."
"Ok I'll be back in a minute."
Within 10 minutes she is back and it looks like she has brought someone with her. I don't recognise them at first but as soon as he comes through the door I know who he is. With them striking blue eyes and a head full of blond curly hair who wouldnt recognise him. Peeta. He is holding a towel over his nose and the towel is covered in blood.
"Peeta?" I ask, pulling myself into a sitting position.
"Katniss! What happened?!" He says sitting down next to me, fear in his eyes.
"Never mind me what happened to you no one has seen you since last night?" I ask.
"I have just needed time to think so I took a walk around district 12 and I ended up getting lost." He admits.
"Oh Peeta I was so worried I thought something had happened to you please don't scare me like that again." I say, pulling him down for a hug. I feel the wamr liquid fall onto my shirt and he pulls away. My shoulder is covered in the blood from his nose. "What happened to your nose?"
"I was walking into the school yard so that I could meet you and talk to you about what happened when I was stopped by Eric and Joe. Eric knocked me over and I fell on my face. I'm pretty sure its broken." His eyes find their way to my swollen ankles. "What happened to you?"
"Gina tripped me over whilst I was running. I guess people really don't like us today then?" I ask, laughing a little.
"No I guess not." He replies.
"Right you two we need to get Peeta sorted out. Katniss, Madge will be here in 15 minutes when she is changed." I'm sure its normal to take 15 to get changed but either way I nod.
"Why is Madge coming?" Peeta asks.
"So that she can help me home because Prim can't and I cant get home by myself."
"Why didn't you ask me."
"Because you where missing Peeta I couldn't."
"Well I'm sorry I caused so much bother."
"It's ok I'm alright now your here." I say, smiling.
"Good to know." I can hear the smile in his voice which makes me smile more.
For the next 10 minutes, I watch Peeta go through the pain of having his nose snapped back into the right place. Thats really going to leave a mark. Its really hard to watch too. His is squeezing mine but I dont think its making any difference to him. He still yelps out in pain as she puts the bandaid on his nose.
Madge walks through the door a couple minutes later and sees me first. "Alright Katniss - Peeta! Oh my your alright Katniss said you where missing and I was worried about you what happened"
"I just got lost that's all." Peeta replies, still getting over the pain.
"Oh well atleast your back now I'm so glad." Madge hugs him hesitantly. I smile but its a really strange thing to see. I dont think Madge has ever actually talked to Peeta.
"Do you want help getting katniss back?" Peeta asks her.
"You don't have to we will be fine you have helped me enough." I say to Peeta.
"No I want to help." He replies to us both.
"Fine Madge could you please go an get Prim from her class she is in miss polands class tell her to meet me at the tree in the school yard I need to talk to Delly and Gale."
"Yeh sure I'll be back" she walks out the door leaving me and Peeta alone again.
"Peeta please could you get my shoes and socks?"
"Yeh sure." He walks to the end of the bed and grabs them off the floor. I pull the socks over my swollen feet but there is no way that my shoes are going on my feet so I just leave them in my hand and let Peeta help me off the bed. He grabs my waist and pulls me up and gently places my feet on the floor. At first it hurts but I get used to it by the time we are at the end of the corridor.
"Are you sure you don't want me to carry you katniss it looks like agony?" Peeta asks. It is agony but I'm not going to tell him that. He has been hurt today too and he's been walking since early this morning, he must be knakcered, I cant let him carry me.
"It does hurt but I'm gonna have to get used to it." I reply. I cant lie to him after all.
Before we are able to get out the door we are stopped by Gina. "Hey Peeta." She says, smiling up at him but he just looks at me, she follows his gaze and I feel her evil eyes burning holes through my skin.
"Oh yeh as if you wouldn't know your the cause." I reply, my voice bitter.
"What me why would I do such a thing." She says innocently, trying to be nice infront of Peeta.
"Gina just get out the way." He pushes her slightly to the side and she nods.
"Fine I'll see you again babe." She says and walks away down the hallways. I hate how she treats him, I hate that she thinks she owns him. I hate the way that she looks at him. I hate that she thinks that Peeta likes her. I just hate everything she has even said or done to Peeta.
"I really hate her." I say to him.
"Me too." He replies.
We find Delly and Gale at the Willow tree. They stand up when they see us and Peeta walks me over to meet them there.
"Oh you found him good." Delly says, "What happened to you both?" She asks, looing us up and down .
"Well it seems people at school really hate us at the moment." I say with a small laugh whilst Peeta helps me down onto the bench. Delly looks towards Peeta and they seem to have a small argument with their eyes before Gale finally looks at me and takes a breathe.
"Katniss I'm sorry about not telling you about me an Delly can we please just be friends again?" He asks. I'm guessing from the silent argument, he was scared to ask me that.
"I don't know Gale I'll think about it but would you please be able to bring my mum and sister home some squirrel tomorrow because I clearly can't?" I ask, laughing again and almost instantly he begins to nod.
"Yes of course I will."
"Thank you Gale that means a lot."
"Katniss what happened?" I hear Prim shout as she starts running away from Madge and up to me. Madge gives me a kick smile baefore dissapearing out the school gate.
"I fell Prim, sprained both my ankles." I say and Prim sits down next to me. "Do you want me to have a look at them?" I know she isnt as good as my mother but she isnt far off. She's definitely better than the school nurse anyway.
"When we get home which we should go right now." I say and she nods, Peeta stands up to help me but just as he is about to do that the wind picks up and blows a but of dust in his face. He holds his nose but I can tell he needs to sneeze. When he does, he lets out a growl of pain and I squeeze his hand as he oepns his eyes, revealing a few tears of pain.
Eventually he helps me up and we set off home after saying goodbye to Delly and Gale. "I'm sorry about what I said yesterday Peeta I know it upset you and I was wrong to say it. I know you cared I was just annoyed." I say. I just needed him to know that.
"It's fine Katniss I took a lot of time thinking about it and I was going to apologise to you but then I found you in the nurses office." He says with a small laugh. "How do we always end up there?"
"You don't need to apologise for anything, I was the one that over reacted."
"No I showed that I didn't care when I did I cared a lot Katniss I just couldn't show it and I feel like an idiot for it." He looks away but I just pull his face back towards mine and kiss him on the cheek. He looks down at me with a smile on his face.
"Peeta it's fine I forgive you do you forgive me?" I ask him.
"Of course I forgive you Katniss I don't think I would be able to live with myself if I never spoke to you again." He smiles and I smile back as we carry on walking, my socks getting completely soaked from leftover puddles from rain that probably happened during the night, which made all the coal dust turn into smush which is even worse.
An hour and a half later we make it to my house and Peeta sets me down on the couch and sits next to me. His nose starts to bleed again. Its probably from when he sneezed. Bit of a delayed reaction though.
"Oh shit Peeta your nose... MUM!" I shout through the house.
"What?" I hear from the kitchen.
"Come here." I shout back and I hear her footsteps on the old kitchen tiles.
"What is it katniss?" She asks, walking into the room but then her eyes settle on Peeta and she stops. "Oh no, come on Peeta, lets get that sorted." They walk into the kitchen but I can't get up to follow them.
"Is he ok?" I shout into the kitchen a couple minutes later. I honestly think that I should be asking if I am alright because I am in worse shape that Peeta is.
"Yeh I'm fine Katniss." He shouts back.
"Good!" A few minute later he walks back out of the kitchen with 2 pieces of wool up his nose and he looks really funny that I start laughing.
"You look so funny Peeta." I say through the laughing, causing him to smile.
"Your one to talk not being able to walk, the huntress that can't walk that will scare people." He jokes, smiling.
"Atleast my face doesnt look like a punching bag." I'm still laughing.
"No, your face looks amazing..." He trails off and I stop laughing as he looks at me. His face inches from mine. I move away quickly and the air becomes awkward. What just happened?
"Do you want me to come and get you for school tomorrow or are you not going in?" Peeta finally asks.
"I don't think I'm going." I reply.
"Well I'll stay off with you and keep you company." He says moving closer to me as he notices a shiver run through my body. "Are you cold?" He asks, looking down at me.
"Yeh a bit." He gets up and walks over to the chair and pulls the blanket off it. He walks back over to me and wraps me up in it and helps me get my legs onto the other side of the sofa so that I'm led down with my head on Peeta's knee. This doesnt really help the 'awkward' problem but it sure does feel nice.
"Are you tired?" He asks. I can already feel myself going to sleep. he has his fingers in my hair.
"Only a bit I suppose." I lie, I am actually very tired. The events of the day seem to have worn me out.
Sometime during the night I wake up uncomfortable. I hear breathing other my own and realise that Peeta is here and my head is on his lap. Oh yeh, he got me the blanket and I fell asleep, I remember now. Duh! I try to turn my head back around and not wake him up but I hear him stirring.
"Hi" I say
"Hi what time is it?" He asks.
"About 1 in the morning." I say, looking at the clock across the room.
"Why are you awake." He asks me as I pull myself up, sitting back next to Peeta.
"Because I was uncomfortable." I reply.
"Do you want me to take you up to bed. It's a bit cold down here?" He asks.
"Are you cold?" I ask him.
"Yeh a little bit." I move sideways, closer to him than I was before and place the blanket over him. Its just about big enough for two people so I place my legs over his and rest my head on his shoulder. His arm is around me and he is holding the blanket up.
"Better?" I ask.
"A lot better." He replies and I laugh.
"Good but I could use my bed, my sister would of got in with my mum so your welcome to stay if you want." I offer. It feels kind of weird offering for him to sleep in my bed even if we do always stay in the same bed at his house and its not weird there. It probably has something to do with the fact that I share a room with my mother and sister, If my dad was still alive, he would have gone mental if he woke up in the morning and saw me sleeping in a bed with Peeta.
"No I must be getting back they haven't seen my since last night." Peeta says and I guess he is right. But its too late now. I cant let him leave.
"Please stay it's too late to be wondering the streets at night and we can go over there in the morning when we wake ue." I say and he finally nods.
"Ok let's get to bed then where it's warm." He says, pulling himself up to his feet.
He carries me up the stairs and sets me down on the bed before climbing in himself. We drift off to sleep very easily.
The next day when I wake up Peeta is still asleep so I just watch him until he wakes up. Its kind of relaxing. We are friends again and you have no idea how happy I am about that. I've never had a friend quite like him. Gale was a great friend but he never made me feel the way Peeta does. I feel like I can do anything with Peeta by my side.
Prim wakes up before Peeta and she looks a bit confused as to why the bakers son is in my bed.
"He just fell asleep here Prim I couldnt let him walk home in the dark." I whisper to her and her tired little face softens.
"Ok." She replies and turns around snuggling up to my mother and goes back to sleep.
I turn back around to Peeta just In time to see the blue of his eyes as he wakes up.
"Hi how are you?" I ask him.
"I'm fine and you do realise you leg is over mine don't you?" I always felt comfortable in this position but I never expected anyone to be under my leg. Hal my body is actually on top of him and I was resting on his chest. One of my legs is straight down his side and the other one is bent across legs. I pull up the blankets to look at it but I cant feel it at all.
"I didn't realise and I can't move it or feel it." I say to him, worried.
"You must of lost the feeling in your leg because of the pain." He says and I nod. Thats what it must be.
"But what about the other leg I can feel that?" I ask, confused.
"There must be more pain in you left leg."
"Ok well would you be so kind as to move my left leg please?" He sits up, leaving me lying there by myself and moves my left leg next to my right leg so that I can turn around and lie facing the ceiling.
"Thanks." I say, "So, what are we doing today?" I ask him.
"Well do you want to come to the bakery you seem to enjoy it there?" He asks and I nod.
"Yeh I love the bakery your brothers are so funny."
"Well it sounds like a plan."
"What about your mum though?" I ask. I'm no entirely sure that I want to run into his mother like this. I cant stand up for myself if I cant even stand. I could give her a mouthful if she tried anything but that about it and I dont particularly want another injury just because of that witch.
"She will be in her room she won't know that you are there." He laughs and I smile.
"Ok let's go then."
We wait another hour so that we can walk Prim to school and we set off. When we get to the bakery Prims friends are passing by so she walks with them. "Katniss I'll come by to see you after school if that's ok?" She says, Lilly and Rory standing quite far away, waiting for her.
"Yeh that's fine Prim." Peeta replies.
"Bye Prim." I say, hugging her, trying my hardest not to put all my strength on her.
"Bye Katniss bye Peeta." She hugs him and runs after Rory.
We walk inside the bakery and the first person to come out is Masan and he hugs his son fiercely, knocking me slightly off balance.
"Peet where have you been we where looking everywhere yesterday?" He asks.
"Sorry dad I just got lost but I found Katniss at school and ended up falling asleep at hers sorry." His dad husg him again.
"It's fine son I've just be worried to death that something happened to you."
"No dad I'm fine is it ok if I stay of today to take care of katniss it seems like nobody at school likes us I almost broke my nose and katniss has almost broke her ankles."
"Yeh son that's fine." He smiles at us both.
"Thank you where are Leaven, Rye and Mum?" Peeta asks, taking my arm again.
"Leaven went out to look for you, he should be back soon. Rye is upstairs and Mum went to her sisters for a couple days." Masan says.
"Could you call Rye whilst I take Katniss in the back?" Peeta asks leading me into the back.
"Yeh." Masan says, dissapearing into the back. We follow him a couple minutes later and he drops me onto one of the sofa's into the sitting room.
"Are you ok?" He asks.
"Yeh couldn't be happier this place is great." I reply, truthfully. I dont know why I love it so much here. Its such an amazing place. I actually feel like I'm part of a family here and not just the person that feeds a family.
Rye runs in 2 minute later and tackles his brother to the ground. He scared me so much that I jump in my seat.
"Wow Rye watch his nose." I shout.
"Sorry bro where have you been." Rye asks Peeta, helping him up off the floor. Once Peeta is again on his feet, he takes a breathe and sits down next to me.
"I got lost." Peeta replies.
"What happened to your nose?" I'm actually kind of bored of that question now. I wish we could sit them all down and tell them everything all at the same time. Wouldnt that just be easier.
"Just something at school same with Katniss people seem to hate us right now." Rye turns around as If he just noticed me.
"Katniss oh my. I got told you went missing too are you alright?" He asks, how the hell did he find out that I was missing? I was in school at the same time as him, word must have got around that I was in. Especially with me being the laughing stock of the entire school grounds, probably the entire district.
"Yeh just watch my legs." I say quickly as he leans down to hug me.
"What happened to your legs?" He asks, pulling himself back up watching my swollen ankles.
"I sprained both my ankles." I reply to him.
"How?" He takes a seat across from us and Peeta sits down next to me, lifting my legs up and putting them over him just like we where earlier.
"Someone tripped me over." He smiles sadly but I can tell he is thinking about who it is. I hope he doesnt go all big brotherly and attempt to beat them up because that wouldnt solve anything. I know he isnt my big brother but he sure as hell acts like it.
"Who?"
"Gina Stratser." I reply.
"Well I can talk to Eric about it if you want?" He says. I forgot that they're friends.
"No, you can talk to Eric. He's caught up in this two. He doesnt like us either. It was him that did that to Peeta." I say, holding my hand up to stop him as if he was going to go right now.
"Eric did that to you?" He asks Peeta, who nods and I realise now that I shouldnt have said that. He cant beat up Gina but he could beat up Eric. Rye is on the wrestling team and Eric is not so I'm pretty sure that Rye would win but we cant have him caught in all this too.
"Promise you wont do anything?" I ask him and he nods.
"Fine, I promise, but he better not try anything else or no promise could help." He says and then I nod.
Rye goes off to school and me and Peeta just sit there for a while until Leaven comes back and it all starts again. He pretty much cries on Peeta's shoulder. "Peeta, I was so worried, I thought you where gone." He says.
"No, I just got a bit lost in 12." Peeta says quietly.
"So how did you find your way back?" Leaven asks and I turn to Peeta as I realise that I never actually knew the answer to this question.
"Haymitch found me wandering around somewhere in the Seam and he walked me back to somewhere I recognise." Peeta says and I smile slightly. Why the hell is Haymitch Abernathy of all people nice to us?
"Do you reckon we should go and see him some time and say thanks for everything that he's done?" I ask Peeta and he turns around to me.
"Only when you're legs are better." I laugh slightly and nod. I guess it would be better to go when I can actually walk.
