Chapter 9 - The Phantom Warrior Cherrymon Strikes!

(Taro) I kinda built this up in the first place and with this in mind, I'm hoping that this chapter will be
good for everyone... so let's begin again.

"Word" Speaking 'Word' Thought

The Digital World, Western Continent
Border near Floramon Village

The next morning after the battle that liberated the village... The Floramon that were set free were allowed to
rebuild their houses and thanks to the defenses that remained by the Woodmon, they would have a means of defending
themselves for the time being... unfortuately due to the Digivice registering a sole Floramon who became Kiwimon,
it meant that same Floramon would now accompany them on the journey ahead.

'However convincing Floramon's parents was not an easy task...'

He thought as he told the entire story of how he came into the Digital World and the journey to them as a means of
calming them down but also to reassure that he and his Digimon were looking for passage towards the Paradise Jungle.

"The Paradise Jungle is just a day's trip south of this village... although we can barricade ourselves thanks to the
upgrades that the invaders provided but you will take care of my daughter won't you Mr Desmond?"

"Uh sure of course as long as she is with us, she will be fine."

"Alright Mr Desmond I will trust you with my daughter's safety... but to get there you will need to go through a
small valley, it's a bit of a trek but once you cross it, you will arrive at the jungle's border."

"Thank you so much, good luck in defending your village!"

That exchange was last night and Desmond's Crew left at first light... with Floramon having a teary farewell to
her family before she joined up as they proceeded south towards the Valley.

Meanwhile back at Cherrymon's camp... or rather what's left of the forces after they lost the village of Floramon
to the Crimson Digidestined and Peacockmon was not very happy at all.

"FOOL I HAD SPECIFICALLY TOLD YOU TO WATCH THAT VILLAGE FOR A GOOD REASON AND YET YOU LOST THAT TO THE CRIMSON
ONE!"

"I'm sorry my lord..."

"SORRY IS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO PRODUCE A DARK CRYSTAL OUT OF THIN AIR!"

"I only gave my Commander an insurnace policy..."

"AN INSURNACE POLICY THAT ALLOWED THAT HUMAN TO DESTROY A DARK CRYSTAL!"

"My lord..."

"YOU ARE A PATHETIC PILE OF KINDERLING IF YOU THINK I'M GOING TO FORGET THIS REALLY BIG MISTAKE OF YOURS!"

"No..."

"GOOD BECAUSE NOW YOUR GOING TO STOP THEM FROM GOING INTO THE PARADISE JUNGLE!"

"What do you mean?"

"It's simple... you are going to stop that Digidestined yourself and if you fail don't bother coming back!"

Peacockmon then disappeared from view as Cherrymon's frown grew deeper before he sighed in resignation and proceeded
to open a portal heading for the border to the Jungle.

Meanwhile at the Valley that connects the Floramon area to the Paradise Jungle... we find our heroes relaxing after
a half day's walk whilst they were resting, Veemon noticed that there was a lot more trees than usual which rose his
suspicious list.

"Hey Deshmond..."

"Yeah Veemon?"

"Do you think that there are a lot more trees than what you would normally see?"

"Now that you think about it... yeah your right there, this valley doesn't have the normal amount of trees it
would have... eiher it's special or something's not right here."

"Uh Desmond... you might want to look at this!"

Desmond looked at Candlemon as he saw what was going on and once he saw the REALLY gigantic tree... with the
beginnings of a fog rolling into the valley although it was a lovely sunny day... he began to have a really bad
feeling.

"I think guys you need to change forms... I don't think this is natural fog."

"Gotcha."

"Change as much as you like, it doesn't make any difference."

A loud booming voice can be heard throughout the valley just as the Digimon began to toughen up although Floramon
was still not used to fighting but in due time she would be.

"Ok guys it's time to Digivolve!"

The Crimson Digivice began to light up ready as the rookies became determined sans Floramon who was unsure.

"VEEMON DIGIVOLVE TO... VEEDRAMON!"

"CANDLEMON DIGIVOLVE TO... MERAMON!"

"HAWKMON DIGIVOLVE TO... AQUILAMON!"

"PIDGEMON DIGIVOLVE TO... AERODRAMON!"

"ARMADILLOMON DIGIVOLVE TO... ANKYLOMON!"

"PENGUINMON DIGIVOLVE TO... DOLPHMON!"

"WORMMON DIGIVOLVE TO... STINGMON!"

"ELECMON DIGIVOLVE TO... LEOMON!"

"GOTSUMON DIGIVOLVE TO... MONOCHROMON!"

"FLORAMON DIGIVOLVE TO... KIWIMON!"

The champions all stood together in a group just as the booming voice began to laugh.

"10 little Digimon united against me? That doesn't seem to be fair... then again I'm not known to being fair."

Two giant yellow eyes appeared in the fog as slowly it began to clear up, instantly Desmond realised that this foe
may be a lot stronger than he appeared, so he decided to check the Digivice for confirmation.

"Data unknown... how the..."

The fog began to clear as the large yellow eyes began to reveal that it was a giant of a Digimon... it reminded
Desmond of a large Cherry tree except this one had six arms which one of them was holding a large tree branch
as a walking cane... frowning with green vines attached from the canopy and with it's leaf like moustache bristling.

"Aren't you a big boy..."

Finally the digivice finally beeped and registered with an image showing up.

"Alrighty... this is Cherrymon, A Plant type, Virus Attributed Ultimate Level... oh dear an Ultimate level? Not good
at all... known as the Lord of the Forests, it has a hallucinogenic fog that entices enemies before capturing them
with it's ivy and branch like tentacles... awkward, special attacks are Vine Attack, Illusion Mist and finally
it's special attack Pit Pelter."

"Desmond he's an Ultimate level, me, Meramon and Stingmon might need to go up another level!"

"Wait till it's nessercary before we do that!"

"You all won't last long enough!"

Thus of course Cherrymon began to attack.

Meanwhile back in the Golden Atrium... which is known as the dominion of Peacockmon, the flying Digimon observed
things from it's chambers when he watched the battle between Cherrymon and the Crimson Digidestined.

"Excellent... I'm hoping that Cherrymon succeeds because I don't want to lose track of the Crimson Killer inside
that jungle... my surveilance can't penetrate that thick canopy and I lose signal everytime so that's a dead mon
zone... unless of course, I have a general that is near the area."

Peacockmon grinned to himself and pondered some more.

Meanwhile back at the Valley, the battle had just begun as 10 Champions were about to take on a giant Ultimate
level Digimon.

"Well how about we get this dance started... I'll let you all have the first move!"

"PULSE BLAST!"

Dolphmon decided to start off the attack by firing her sonic pulse attack onto the bark of Cherrymon although
visibly it didn't do much damage.

"I'm much stronger than a mere voice ya know!"

"How about something stronger... GRAND HORN!"

"TAIL HAMMER!"

"Probably need a lot of force than that... FIST OF THE BEAST KING!"

"PUMMEL PECK!"

The four attacks hit together as a massive loud bang was heard meaning they collided but unfortuately it didn't
do any damage as Cherrymon shrugged it off and grinned.

"Really? Is that the best you got... perhaps I can show you all what an attack is!"

Suddenly the many vines came to life as they coiled and tensed themselves to be ready like tentacles.

"VINE ATTACK!"

Instantly they all attacked the group... with some dodging out of the way whilst the others were hit by the sheer
force of the seemingly powerful concrete like roots as Dolphmon and Kiwimon were smashed hard so much that they
went back to their rookie forms instantly taking them out of the fight.

"Damn it... we lost 2 already, focus guys!"

"PERHAPS WE CAN GO FOR AN AERIAL ASSAULT! RAIN OF WINDS!"

"BLAST RINGS!"

Together the two attacks covered Cherrymon in a hail of energy rings and sharp feathers but other than trim the
large canopy on top of it's head and shear some branches... not much damage was given.

"It seems the elements can still do some damage... Ok Monochromon your up!"

"GOTCHA DESMOND! VOLCANIC STRIKE!"

Monochromon fired it's attack directly head on at Cherrymon which did some damage as the explosions were heard
considering that it was a fire attack.

"That won't be enough to harm me!"

"How about these attacks then! VEE NOVA BLAST!"

"BLAZING FLAME!"

"SPIKING STRIKE!"

The combined fire attacks of red and blue hit Cherrymon as part of the affected bark sparked in flame before
Stingmon zoomed in and with the purple stinger retracted, stabbed the area multiple times in succession but
that was before another vine swatted the insect away... like a fly.

"I'm getting tiresome of these attacks, time I showed you all why Lord Peacockmon favors me as his best general!"

Suddenly the canopy on top of it's head began to show it's true surprise... ripe red cherries.

"PIT PELTER!"

Unleashing a hailstorm of cherries that went everywhere... they went off with resounding explosions that were
pink lights followed by smoke as quite a few Digimon were then seen to be knocked out from the powerful attack
as Aquilamon, Aerodramon, Ankylomon, Leomon and Monochromon were powered back down to their rookie forms...
however who remained were the ones that were able to move up in power.

"Alright guys it's time to fight cherry tree with firepower!"

"We're ready when you are Desmond!"

"What on..."

Then suddenly Desmond held up the Digivice high as the light began to shine bright once more as also from the
Digivice, the light from the Digimedal of Fire shined brightly as well as the next stage of digivolution began...
the roar of crimson can be heard as it raced to the sky before exploding into digivolution data.

"VEEDRAMON CRIMSON DIGIVOLVE TO... AEROVEEDRAMON!"

"STINGMON CRIMSON DIGIVOLVE TO... DINOBEEMON!"

"MERAMON MEDAL DIGIVOLVE TO... BLUEMERAMON!"

The light faded as the three newly digivolved Ultimates stepped into position just as Cherrymon bawked from the
size change as AeroVeedramon took to the air ready.

"So what Lord Peacockmon told me was true, you can transcend to the Ultimate level... Lord Kongoumon didn't stand
a chance then, but I am used to this form for a long time now, you can't harm me!"

"I don't think you can handle 3 Ultimates Cherrymon, how about allowing us to pass through so you don't have
to get hurt!"

"You must understand that if I go back without destroying you then I am also destroyed too... I don't have much
of a choice!"

"You do, everyone has a chance to make their own choice!"

"I choose to destroy you so I can regain my honor of being Lord Peacockmon's most effective general!"

"It's no use Desmond he has obviously made up his mind..."

"It's a shame really..."

"Now that we are done talking, it's time I increased the stakes a bit... ILLUSION MIST!"

Suddenly Cherrymon's eyes began to glow yellow as a thick mist began to suddenly fill the area as more yellow eyes
appeared on the field.

"Damn it... he's using mist to cover himself!"

"NOT FOR LONG! ICE PHANTOM!"

BlueMeramon unleashed it's special move which the cold air acting like a wind blew away the illusion mist of
Cherrymon leaving him standing all on his own.

"HOW DARE YOU BLOW AWAY THAT MIST?! VINE ATTACK!"

"TIME TO CUT YOU DOWN TO SIZE! DEATH MASQUERADE!"

Cherrymon didn't see Dinobeemon but that was of because of how fast the dino insect was going through the vines
before they were slashed from existance... but they also left deep scratches on Cherrymon's bark that enraged the
Ultimate off.

"YOU HAVE ANGERED ME FOR THE LAST TIME HUMAN! I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL!"

"Desmond I'm going to need a few minutes ready..."

"Alright AeroVeedramon, we'll distract him for a bit so that you can get ready... Ok you two know what to do!"

"No problem Desmond, we know what to do right?"

"Of course!"

"PIT PELTER!"

Another barrage of explosive cherries was thrown towards the group specifically AeroVeedramon but the other
two Ultimates had other ideas.

"COLD FLAME!"

"IRRITANT BUZZ!"

The mix flame and jagged laser combined together into a elemental laser combination that destroyed the barrage
of explosive cherries but this was the time needed for AeroVeedramon to end the battle.

"VEE WING BLADE!"

The energies flowed from the tips of it's wings towards the tip of it's metal horn glowed orange before the
attack began to descend towards Cherrymon as the attack was unopposed... the Ultimate had ran out of options

"NO THIS CANNOT BE HAPPENING!"

"I believe the next phrase should be... TIMMMMMMMMMBER!"

Before Cherrymon could react, the Vee Wing Blade went through him completely... although visibly you can't tell
what happened but eventually just like any other tree... there's only one direction the body has to go and that
is straight down which is precisely what happened although it began to fall apart from the large V mark as data
began to disappear from the fallen limbs before Cherrymon burst into digital data which scattered to the winds.

"Well I guess his bite was not as good as it's bark..."

"Yeah I figured as much, come on let's get the rest and head into the Jungle... Cherrymon was trying to stop
us from going in there and I have a feeling I know what it is they are after."

Desmond hopped onto AeroVeedramon as he, BlueMeramon and DinoBeemon gathered the fallen rookies and make their
way into the Paradise Jungle.

Meanwhile back at the Golden Atrium... Peacockmon felt the failure of Cherrymon first hand considering that he
had just lost a General that would take a while for a Woodmon to digivolve into a Cherrymon by force and he
wanted to stop that human at all costs... even if it meant bringing in her.

"Get General Arukenimon in touch, tell her that she is expecting company... oh and prepare 4 Armor Soliders for
the Paradise Jungle at once!"

(Taro) Well this is another chapter over with and Cherrymon is gone as our heroes move into the Paradise Jungle
so we can move on with the next part of the story... which is probably gonna be soon considering what's next and
all.
