So I do realize that it has been like 4 years since I've updated this. But I thought that it was time to continue the story.
My writing skills have probably changed over the last while, I'm in second year university compared to writing the last story while I was still in high school. I plan on writing another fic so I'm not sure if I'm going to continue this story or not but we will see.
Also! In this fic Burt has yet to meet Christina and Blaine. So he's meeting them both for the first time.
Disclaimer: Nothing is mine.
The plane ride was smooth and Christina loved to gaze out the window, seeing all the clouds.
Once they arrived at the airport in Ohio their rental car was waiting for them. They found their luggage easily and Kurt began the drive to his childhood home.
Kurt was excited for Christina to meet her grandfather. Kurt knew that Burt would be the best grandfather. He is always so supportive of everything that Kurt wanted to do.
Pulling into the drive Kurt let out a deep breath he didn't realize that he had been holding and turned to Christina in the back seat.
"We're here sweetheart,"
Christina clapped her hands and admired the Christmas lights around the house.
"Cool!" She exclaimed and started to get herself unbuckled. Blaine jumping out on her side to help her get out.
Kurt turned off the engine and hopped out himself. The porch motion light coming on as they moved around in the drive.
They all gathered their things and made their way up the walkway. Burt greeting them at the door and taking Blaine's luggage from him.
As soon as they all made it inside the house Burt pulled Kurt into a big bear hug.
"It's good to see you Kurt,"
He said into his hair.
"You too, Dad," Kurt replied. He didn't realize how much he had missed his father, until now.
He pulled away, Blaine and Christina standing there awkwardly.
Burt looked down at Christina, Blaine smiled at him. Christina hiding behind Blaine's leg.
"Hey, it's okay sweetie this is your grandfather Hummel,"
She looked up at Blaine and put her thumb in her mouth, a habit they thought had been broken.
She nodded slightly, acting shy.
Kurt motioned for her to come to him and he picked her up,
"Baby, this is my Daddy, Grampy Hummel" Kurt explained.
Christina looked at Kurt and then looked at Burt and smiled.
"I'm Christina," she said.
Burt's face broke out in a wide grin. Happy to be meeting his granddaughter for the first time.
"Hello Christina,"
Carol came down the stairs then, wondering why they were all standing in the doorway.
"Why don't you all come in? I've got the hot chocolate heating on the stove,"
Kurt looked over Christina's shoulder and smiled.
"Carol, it's so good to see you, this is Christina, and this is my partner, Blaine."
Carol smiled, "It's fantastic to meet you both,"
For the rest of the evening Kurt kept having flashbacks of his childhood.
Seeing his mother in the big armchair in the corner. Finn racing him down the stairs to see what was under the Christmas tree that year. Rachel perched on the edge of the couch, in a heated debate with Mercedes about god knows what they were arguing about this time.
Kurt was pulling from his thoughts by Christina pulling herself into his lap, he smiled and helped her the rest of the way.
He rubbed her hair as she sat quietly, drinking in the Livingroom of the Hummel homestead.
Burt smiled at his son and his granddaughter. Enjoying every minute of watching the two interact together before turning to Blaine.
"So Blaine, what do you do?"
Blaine cleared his throat before answering,
"I'm a musician actually…" he looked at Kurt smiling as he answered. "My manager just called me a few days ago, they want me to go on tour. I would have never accomplished it if it hadn't been for Kurt here,"
Kurt brushed off his comment.
"You totally would have; it just would have taken you longer to figure it out." Kurt expressed.
"If you say so," Blaine smiled.
Carol came in the room and passed Blaine a mug of hot chocolate then
"Thank you, Mrs. Hummel,"
"oh please, call me Carol. Kurt, can I get you anything?"
"No thank you, Christina? Would you like anything?"
"Juice, please!" Christina said, looking at Carol.
"Coming right up," Carol said and went back to the kitchen. Returning a minute later with Christina's juice.
Okay. So I know that update was short but I think that I need to get my bearings with this story and remember where exactly I am. So here's a little teaser and a promise that I will continue to update sometime later this week!
