Chapter 10

Hermione should have known that Harry would find a way to ruin Christmas for her and for everyone else. Everything had been fine the first couple of days of break and then Dumbledore's head appeared and the look that he had wasn't 'Have a Happy Christmas.' No it was "Your son has done something stupid and I need you both to come here." Both Lily and James left and Hermione groaned.

"I bet you Harry has done something beyond stupid," Hermione told Melissa.

"And you think this is why he decided to stay at Hogwarts during Christmas and not because he wasn't going to get anything."

"Yeah," Hermione said and then they all waited.

The hours went by and Remus came over to check on them. He sat down, looking tired and defeated. Hermione knew that the Full Moon had taken place last night and that Remus was sacrificing his recovery by coming over to check on them.

"What has my dumb half-brother done?" Hermione asked him.

"I have no clue," Remus told her. "But it had to be serious for them not to be back."

Around five James and Lily finally returned and they both looked as though things had changed, and not for the better. Lily sat down and said, "Harry has been bitten."

Both Hermione and Melissa both stared at her and James said, "That stupid child went into the Forbidden Forest, during a blasted Full Moon, and got bitten. He's a werewolf now!"

"Oh great," Hermione muttered. "I thought that he had gotten hexed by a Ravenclaw or something. Why in the world would he go into the forest during the Full Moon?"

"Because he doesn't think," Lily said. "And so we have to put him in a cage during the Full Moon. Severus is going to brew him the Wolfbane and James is going to make sure that he takes it. He won't be able to get work due to our laws."

Great, just great, she would have to be the one that brought home the bacon.

"He's going to be worst," Melissa said.

"Don't worry, we'll make sure that he stays in-line," Lily said. "Gods, what else can that child do to make me upset?"

Hermione had a bad feeling that Harry wasn't done with 'making Lily upset.'

Even though Lily and James went to visit Harry almost every day they still managed to have a good Christmas. Hermione got a whole bunch of new books on charms and Melissa got a couple of things from the family. She got a wand holster from James, a pair of waterproof shoes from Lily, and a cap from Sirius. She thanked everyone for all the gifts and Hermione noticed that she hadn't gotten anything from her family.

"I can't believe that my sister would rather spend her money on her stupid son and not send anything to her daughter," Lily said.

"It's alright," Melissa told her. "At least I got great things from all of you."

"Well it's still not fair," Lily told her.

Hermione agreed with that, totally.

The rest of the Christmas break came to a close, with news that Harry had been returned to Hogwarts and made to promise that he wouldn't tell anyone, and that included his house, that he's a werewolf. Lily told them that he had told Harry that it wasn't an infection that someone worked to get.

"You know he's not going to listen," Hermione told her, knowing Harry very well.

"If he wants to get the Potter fortune, he will," Lily told her. "Don't worry; you have a vault to inherit. There's no way that I'm having Harry get everything."

"Thanks," Hermione said, grinning.

Soon they were back on the Hogwarts Express, heading back to the school. Hermione wasn't looking forward to the remaining months of hanging out with Quirrell. She knew that something was wrong about him and she knew that it had something to do with when he was overseas. What she was most afraid of, was finding out that she was right in more ways than one.

"You know that Potter isn't going to listen," Snape told the Headmaster.

"I know that, Severus," Dumbledore said, "But he has to understand that this is his fault that he is infected."

"Do you think that Potter did this on purpose?" Snape asked him. "I know that he's jealous of Miss Potter-Granger for being The-Girl-Who-Lived."

Dumbledore sighed and said, "I don't know. Sometimes I really don't know what goes on in that child's mind. The Ministry has tagged him, so they know that he's a creature, but I don't think that even sunk in."

"Nothing sinks in for that child," Snape told him. "And I can take all the points off; he'll just threaten to go to his father. Like a child that I'm cursed in having in my house does all the time."

"Draco," Dumbledore said and Snape nodded. "I know, for a fact, that James doesn't want Harry to use his name to get away with things. The child needs to learn that not everything revolves around him."

Snape snorted and Dumbledore knew that he was thinking along the line of, "He will still think that the world revolves around him." Dumbledore had to agree with the invisible line of thinking.

"The Hogwarts Express will soon be back," Dumbledore told him. "I think that we should be in the Great Hall to welcome back the students."

Snape nodded and they left, without saying anything.

Hermione was glad to be back at Hogwarts. They ate dinner in the Great Hall and then went up to the Ravenclaw dorms to put their trunks away and let their animals out. Hermione had gotten Melissa a late Christmas present in the form of a black owl that she could use to deliver messages. She was sure that the Dursley's wouldn't like it, but that wasn't her problem. Lily thought the owl was just gorgeous.

"I'm glad that you liked her," Hermione told Melissa.

"Yeah, she's great," Melissa said. "I'm calling her Morrigan, after Arthur's sister."

"That's a great name," Hermione told her.

"Thanks," Melissa said. "So are you excited about getting back to lessons?"

"I sure am," Hermione said, "I mean, I love being back with the Potter's but I really love being back in the classroom."

"I agree," Melissa said. "Let's just hope that your half-brother doesn't cause any problems."

Hermione sighed and said, "Trust me, Melissa; he's going to be causing problems."

A/N: The next chapter will be good as it will contain a fight between Harry and Snape over the Wolfbane Potion. Oh and Harry's not done causing problems for everyone.
