I feel like I'm accomplishing something by getting to chapter 10 XD Let's see how this one turns out.
Chapter 10-Match Ups
With the end of my battle the match ups for tomorrow's rounds were put up. It was going to be six on six from now on so teams would require less planning and more strength, or at least that's how I saw it.
I looked towards the match up screen. Paul and Ash were the first battle. I can't wait to watch that one.
Tallon and I were second. Well, guess we won't be squaring off in the finals.
I shrugged before strolling out of the arena.
"Carina." I recognized the female voice and spun around to see none other than Cynthia coming towards me.
"Oh, hi ,Cynthia." I greet
"That was an interesting battle."
"In what way?" I question, I didn't see what she was trying to point out.
"Your heart wasn't in that battle was it?"
I sigh. "No, not really."
"Something's bothering you." She says it as a statement, not a question.
I nod but don't start an explanation.
"Walk and talk?" She offers.
"Sure, why not?"
We beat around the bush for most of the afternoon. We caught up since I hadn't had a conversation with her face to face in a few months. I questioned her motives for inviting Lance and Clair but she was tight lipped about it.
The sun was going down and we were back near the housing when she finally brought up our original subject.
"So? What's been distracting you?"
"It's hard to explain. It's a feeling I've had since around the time I saw Silver. Something just doesn't seem right."
She stops walking and she brings her hand to her face with a thoughtful expression. "I don't feel it." She shrugs and I dead pan at her blatant response. "But I'm sure you are on to something."
I look at her questioningly.
"You are more in tune with this than I am and you know it." She reminds me. "Have you talked to Tallon about it?"
"No. I haven't seen him since my two on two with Silver."
"You should talk; if he's getting bad vibes too I'll have people look into it."
"Into what?" Now I was lost.
"What type of pokemon do both of you have?" she asks
OHH! Those two. "Oh, I get it now."
"If they're trying to warn you then we need to pay attention."
~ ? POV~
"If they're trying to warn you then we need to pay attention."
"So we are targeting the right person." The blue haired girl says quietly as she and two others watch from afar.
"I told you, my intel is never wrong." Boasts the white haired one.
"We should inform Him then." Advises the blonde one.
"Alright. Let's go." Orders the girl and they disappear into the trees.
~Carina's POV~
Round four was upon us. I went straight to the stands, knowing I had to watch Ash's and Paul's battle. I could tell they were rivals; they had that air about them when they were together. I kinda reminded me of Silver and I.
I hadn't seen a more tense battle in a long time. I wasn't sure who I thought would win. Both were capable trainers but they had completely different styles. Plus you could tell they had battled many times before, they knew each other's pokemon and strategies which always made things a bit more difficult.
In the end Ash came out on top despite developments in the middle of the battle.
Next up Tallon and I were up for a rematch. But today there was so much more at stake.
"You ready to lose?" Taunts Tallon
"In your dreams. Today I'm going to show everyone that I've always been stronger than you."
We separated, each going to our designated platform.
As I neared the arena floor I heard the announcer come on.
"We have a special battle here today folks. Today we get to witness a title challenge, the challenge of Sinnoh's Champions!"
This was it, this was the time my name would no longer be a secret.
The crowd seemed shocked but somehow still roared like mad when we pulled out our first pokeballs.
"Go Staraptor!"
"Alright, let's go Gallade!"
~Outside POV~
"WAIT WAIT WAIT! Wait one minute!" Shouted Barry "Since when were your guys older sibling the champions!?"
Claire and Sara just sat looking out at their brother and sister. "Since 4 years ago." Shrugs Sara
"No wonder she knew Bertha and Lance too." Broc says, thinking aloud.
~Another POV~
Paul stood in the walkway at the top of the arena. To think that girl he had been talking with was one of the champions. He would have to pay close attention to this battle.
~Carina's POV~
"Gallade, use Pyscho cut!" Gallade struck before Staraptor could get away.
"Use u-turn!" Staraptor hit Gallade before he could return to my side of the field. Tallon then held up his pokeball calling him back before calling out Roserade.
"Fine, you want to play this way, you're on." I switched pokeballs, "Go Infernape!"
"Roserade use shadow ball!" The attack hit my unsuspecting starter pokemon.
"Take 'em down with Flamethrower!" The grass type was knocked down due to the obvious type advantage.
"Staraptor!" Tallon was sending him back out.
"Flamethrower again!" The attack hit, knocking down the bird pokemon.
Tallon pulled out his third pokeball, "Let's go Empoleon!"
"You are not getting the jump on me. Switch!" I pulled out my third pokeball, "Meganium!"
"Take her down with metal claw!" Meganium didn't have time to get out of the way.
"You'll pay for that! Use Magical Leaf!" The attack hit but didn't take the water type down.
"Shadow claw!" The attack didn't do a whole lot of damage, good.
"Magical leaf again!" This time we were successful.
I knew Tallon would try type advantage again so I pulled Meganium back, "Go Dragonair!"
"Come one Rapidash!"
My Dragonair against Tallon's Rapidash, this matchup had never happened before.
"Aqua tail!" With that Rapidash was down.
Wow, that went better than I thought.
"Go Heracross!"
"Dragon Rush!" Dragonair rushed at him but he was too fast for her.
"Megahorn!" Heracross came down on her from above, causing a bit of damage.
"Hold in there, use Aqua tail!" This time the attack hit but it didn't finish him.
"Megahorn again!" The attack was successful again and Dragonair went down.
"I'm sorry girl, you did really good." I pulled out my fourth pokemon. "Alright, Altaria, let's show 'em how it's done!"
"Use sky attack!" Altaria started charging her power but Heracross still managed to get in a close combat attack before he was taken down.
Down to the last pokemon, that means…
"Switch out, Gardevior!"
"We can win this Snorlax!"
"Psychic!" It hit but Snorlax wasn't close to being down.
"Snorlax use crunch!" The oversized pokemons attack hit Gardevior.
"Hang in there girl, use Psychic again!" Somehow this took the large pokemon down despite so many times before when he lasted so much longer.
"Good job buddy." Tallon said, recalling his last pokemon.
"And the winner is Sinnoh's first champion Carina!"
I feel proud of myself, writing two chapters in one day :)
