BP: I finally had time to update my other stories. I'm sorry my dear readers for the long wait, because I had been writing this new story called Pokémon: The PAL Chronicles, and the chapters are rather long. For those who know what Pokémon is, you're welcome to read it.
Six
As soon as everyone (meaning Sarah, Sam, Malcolm and Five) are asleep, Noel calls us out onto the living room. Apparently, she has something she wants to say to us.
Marina is the first to speak. "So, Noel, what did you want to tell us?"
"Well, I don't know where to start." Noel looks at us nervously.
"Just spill whatever that's on your mind." says Nine.
Noel takes a deep breath, and sighs. "Ok, the first thing that came to my mind is that usually, if one is destined to take an Elder's place, the Garde would most likely gain all the Legacies the said Elder had when they were still alive. Which means to say, Ella may be related to Setrákus Ra in some way, as he was an Elder before he got kicked out of Lorien, that's why the number of Elders became 10. Sorry Ella." She says apologetically to Ella, who was clutching to Marina's hand in fear.
John thinks for a moment. "As much as I hate to say this, but I think Noel's right."
"I think Setrákus Ra has been giving her nightmares via his Telepathy because he wants to entice her to his side you know, and if he wants her that badly, he's probably the great-grandfather or grandfather or hers or something." Noel says. "In the prophecy written by the Fortune Pen I had, it's most likely he's after her for this reason. But, we can't let him have her. We are already dwindling in numbers."
"I'll have to agree with you on that." Eight says.
"And another thing is, when I scanned Five's mind, a few words came up."
"What are they?" I ask.
"Ethan. Greeter. Mogadorians. Killed." Noel lists it out. "I think I saw a memory where he had seen Mogs when he was younger."
"So he was lying!" Marina shouts, causing Nine to cover her mouth.
"Shhh…do you want him to hear you?" Nine hisses. Marina shoots us an apologetic look.
Noel frowns, before placing a force field around us. "There now you can talk as loud as you want. I can make force fields soundproof as well."
"Why didn't you put it earlier?" I demand.
"How am I supposed to know that someone would have an outburst?" Noel retorts, glaring at Marina, whose face has turned red. Noel softens at the expression on her face.
"Ok, never mind. Anyway, I think Five is a traitor, so we shouldn't let our guard down around him. His socially awkward demeanour is probably to throw us off guard, and he can probably take Stan on."
"Hey!" Nine is offended by her statement.
"On the other hand, we can't throw him out because that'll make Five suspect we don't trust him." Eight pipes up. "And he's a member of the Garde."
"Just because one is a member of something doesn't mean they would be friends automatically." Noel cuts in. "Remember when we first met?"
"Oh yeah." I say. I remember it as clear as yesterday. Noel is a strong member, but I see the reluctance to help bring back Lorien, for what they did to her.
"But maybe we can bring Five to our side like we did to you." John suggests.
"He's really good to be able to deceive us. If it wasn't for my Mind Reading Legacy, would you have trusted him without question? And who knows, he might be working for those Mogs?"
We stay silent. She has a point there.
"Anyway, there would be a point where he slips up. We'll just get him then." Nine says.
Just then, a door opened and Five walks out. We all turn to stare at him. Noel also removes her force field so we can hear him.
"Uh…am I interrupting something?" He asks. Noel narrows her eyes, at his attire, and when I follow her gaze, I realize that he's still fully clothed.
"No not at all." Marina says. "We're just discussing our next move against the Mogs."
"We didn't want to disturb you because you just arrived here and all." I say breezily.
"Alright….I understand." He looks at the grandfather clock. "Couldn't you discuss things in the morning instead?"
"I doubt anyone can sleep with all the things that is going on right now." Noel replied wryly, as she looks at us. We nod in agreement.
"Alright, goodnight, don't hatch any evil plans about me." With that, he slouches back to his room, closing the door behind him. All of us stand there listening to him rustling around in his room.
"Yeah, you're right, Noel, he seems harmless at first glance." John remarks.
Noel (Eleven)
"Well, you guys better get back to bed. I'll do some training." I mutter, as I head for the Lecture Hall.
"Good night, Noel." The others chorus.
I roll my eyes. They are so going to wake the others up with the combined voices.
I'm surprised to find the lights in the Lecture Hall on. So it looks like Sarah, John's girlfriend, was here. She's standing in the firing range portion. She's wearing a tank top and sweatpants and is holding a crossbow, and I stand and watch her get ready to fire and arrow.
"So, can't sleep?" I ask soft enough for my voice not to echo.
She jumps, and the arrow she was about to fire goes whizzing wide of the paper Mog hanging at the opposite end of the room.
"Noel!" She exclaims.
"Hi to you too." I reply sarcastically. I go over to the place where Stan kept the bow and arrows. I must say, there were bows made of wood and plastic and metal and materials I can't even name. The arrow feathers were cut in flawless uniform lines. I take a bow, string it, and sling the matching quiver of arrows over my shoulder.
I stand next to Sarah at the firing range, and start shooting. All of them hit the target I was aiming for.
"Good aim." Sarah complimented, trying to make small talk.
"I just had practice." I reply dismissively.
"I actually wanted to use guns, but I don't want to wake everyone up firing guns." Sarah says.
'I could easily put up a soundproof barrier to make sure no one hears you shoot.' I think, but I did not say anything. I just make a non-committal noise in my throat.
She held up her crossbow, ready to aim once more.
"I just had practice." I reply dismissively. I hear footsteps, and Sam enters the room.
Sarah apparently did not notice, as Sam says, "Can I take your picture for the yearbook?", which scares Sarah once again, and as she turned, the arrow she was about to fire came flying towards my face, but I simply yawn, and use telekinesis to halt it mid-air.
"Eek! I'm so sorry!" Sarah exclaims.
I give Sam a bored look. "You're too noisy. There are people sleeping, you know."
"Er….sorry." He rubs his head sheepishly. Judging by his expression, he is trying to tread around me carefully, as he knows I do not trust him. I can sense the fear in him.
"Can't sleep either?" Sarah asks Sam.
Sam nods. "Yeah."
"You're not the only ones." I shoot an arrow, and it hit the target once again. "Everyone's on edge lately."
"John doesn't sleep much either." Sarah informs me. "When he does it's all tossing and turning. And then he slips out of bed in the morning to go brood on the roof. He thinks I don't notice, but I do."
"So, you're sharing a bed?" Sam smirks.
Sarah kicks him playfully. "Whatever, Sam. There are only so many bedrooms. It's not what you think, though. There's something not really romantic about hiding from murderous alien invaders, you know? Not to mention I don't like the idea of Eight just teleporting in or something." Sarah sighs. I know she was thinking about her dead parents.
"Loss usually happens at both sides of the war." I say. "All of us already lost our familial figures in our lives- our Cêpan."
Sam and Sarah nod at me. I notice Sam unconsciously touching the scars on his wrists. I put back the bow and arrow, go to him, and examine the scars.
"I had a lot of time to think when I was a prisoner." Sam says, as I look at his scars. I close my eyes and my Healing Legacy surprisingly activated. The scars begin to fade, and very soon, and scars disappeared.
I let go of his hands in surprise. I know I can heal fatal wounds, but scars? Not even Marina or John can do that.
"Wow…" Sam examines his flawless wrists. "Thanks, Noel."
I give him a funny look, and reply, "You're welcome, I guess."
Feeling slightly conflicted at my willingness to help someone I do not trust, I leave without saying anything. As I pass Marina and Ella's bedroom (since it was Marina's turn to watch her), I hear a piercing scream that made my head hurt.
I immediately open the door, and went in.
BP: Yeah, it's been long since I last updated, and I only had ten minutes so it's bad. Don't worry dear readers I'm not discontinuing, I'm just busy. So do review!
P.S: I'm sorry if Noel appeared to be too powerful, but it's her magical aura that is helping to power up her Legacies (and causing them to show up early), and she isn't an ordinary Garde. It also has a drawback which I'll reveal sometime later perhaps when they fight Five. Without her magical power she'd actually be an ordinary Garde. And also the harsh training Kelly gave her was also why her Legacies are strong.
