Chapter 11

Chapter 11

No sense.

Mitchie's Point of view

Then a thought came to her. Either Shane wanted to spend as much time with her before the baby came, or she was in danger.

But it seemed Shane could read her mind. He could tell that she knew the problem was about her. He almost gave it away; just don't leave me.

"I'll tell the driver to find the nearest church- and we can just elope like we planned- I'll go tell the driver-" Shane pleaded. "SHANE!" Mitchie yelled.

He stopped and she looked into his eyes. "I know it's about me, Shane! Just tell me!" She demanded. Shane stumbled to tears and sat on the couch. He was crying. Oh my god this must be bad. Mitchie thought. He sighed deeply and kept his hands over his face as he sat on the couch. Mitchie sat next to him and rubbed his back.

"…I… We… We just…" Shane tried to begin, but he was too upset. "It's okay, Shane… Just tell me…" Mitchie asked slowly and cautiously. He sighed again.

"I… I got a phone call last night." He told her quietly. She didn't ask who it was, but got up and took his cell phone. She scrolled through the collar ID and saw an unknown number. Then she asked. "Who called?"

"I… I can't tell you that part…" Shane said, obviously hurt by his own words. "But… we just need to get married now…" Mitchie knew Shane too well. He was never this nervous before. She dropped it… for now.

"Okay… let's go." She told him. They were planning to elope anyways, why not now?

Shane looked up from his hands and looked at Mitchie with a hard, blazing look. He got up slowly and walked right in front of her. He took her hands, and intertwined their fingers together. He was obviously depressed.

A few tears fell from Mitchie's eyes. "W-Why w-won't y-you t-tell me…" She stuttered as she started to cry harder. She looked up to him… Shane was trying so hard to hide the pain he was feeling. But Mitchie could see right through him, even with all of the tears in her eyes.

She untangled their hands and sat on the couch behind Shane. He didn't turn around, but just stood there looking depressed. "M-Mitchie… I want to tell you so bad… I just can't…"

This was obviously really bad. Shane had actually fallen to the floor on his knees. Mitchie did the natural reaction and helped him to the couch. "W-Why can't you just drop this?" Shane asked with an angry tone etching into his voice.

"Because it's obviously about me!" Mitchie screamed.

"I'm not going to tell you, Mitchie!" he screamed back, anger rising in his voice.

"So you think we can just go get married with a major problem here?! You think we can just get married like that?!"

"NO! I don't!" he responded loudly.

"Exactly!" Mitchie proved her point.

"Then we're not getting married!!" Shane said. Now that got to Mitchie.

"You mean… not now or… never?" Mitchie's tone changed completely. Now she was no longer angry, but hurt beyond words could explain. She was not going to lose Shane now. They have a baby on the way…

He got up off the couch and walked over to the counter. Still standing, he put his arms and head on the surface. "It's up to you." He responded quietly.

"What do you mean it's up to me? You can't just ask that about getting married…" Mitchie's voice was still quiet and hurt. "Do you still love me?"

At the last question, Shane got up and quickly took her wrists. "Don't you ever ask that again!" Shane demanded, instantly serious. "How could you ever doubt that, Mitchie?!" Another tear fell from his right eye.

He loosened his grip on her wrists. At least they had that covered. Mitchie looked up at him through her watery eyes. His features were just below perfect because of how depressed he looked. His dark black hair still had a pillow mark from sleeping on it; but he was cute that way. She could barely see his beautiful brown eyes through the tears.

Mitchie put her arms around his neck and hugged him tight. He immediately wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her back. By then, they were both in tears.

Shane's point of view

While he hugged her, he felt how delicate she really was; especially when the baby was on the way. She needs to be safe… The words he just thought of in his head hurt him more than anything ever before. Even more than when he broke four of his ribs in kindergarten. The pain he had now hurt ten times more than breaking every bone in his body. He had to hug Mitchie tighter to not pass out after what he was just about to do.

He let go of her slowly, knowing that would be the last time. He kept his hands lightly on her waist, and then moved them to the bump on her stomach. He sobbed more. He looked down so she wouldn't meet his gaze.

"I can't do this anymore…" he stumbled. That hurt more than his thoughts.
"Do what?" Mitchie asked confused.

Shane was just about to faint, for he knew he would after the next words came out of his mouth that he never wanted to speak. "We're done… We'll drive you and Caitlyn home. I can't be with you anymore."

Then it happened. All of hell broke lose. He fell to his knees again, sobbing and hurting more than all the pain in the world put together.

Mitchie took a few steps away from him and looked at him like he was a monster about to eat her. But that was how Shane felt at this time, like a monster. He could feel all of the blood swerving through his body. He felt like he would die at any moment. But now he didn't care. If he couldn't be with Mitchie, what was the point of being at all?

He saw Mitchie run back into the room with the beds, and heard her sobbing loudly. But he just sat there on his knees, with his head down.

But now she was going to be safe, and so would the baby. He would rather die than lose Mitchie, or the baby.

The thought of him 'leaving' them hurt him so bad he had to run to the bathroom to vomit.

Then his phone started ringing again. He looked at the color ID.

The same unknown number he got last night. But he knew he had to answer it, it was for Mitchie.

"Hello?" he tried to say through all the pain that he had had to be given.

"Did you cut her off?" a deep and dark voice asked. Shane nodded unwillingly, then realized that he was on the phone. "Yes…" he said in a low whisper.

"Good. Now I'll tell you what to do next."
