I originally wrote this first paragraph on December 6, 2012 so it is very much long over due to be finished. Please forgive the long hiatus between this and the chapter. Sorry it's quite short.
Hermione was scared. It seemed her Gryffindor traits have vanished like magic, which is quite ironic she thought to herself. She didn't know why Narcissa was protecting her and Harry, but perhaps the witch had no desire for Voldemort to rule any longer. There was always a 'but'; something that always prevents them from achieving what they needed to do. Hermione would have to worry about it later though. Saving Harry was the first thing. It'd come down to saving him many times before this all happened. The bookworm knew one thing: Harry was the last horcrux and Voldemort destroyed it himself, which meant he was no longer immortal and can die from a single Killing Curse.
Hermione promised Harry to stay with Narcissa in a safehouse as the manor was no longer safe for them there while he took care of Voldemort. After losing Ron and Fred as she later found out from Draco, she couldn't deal with any more loss. She definitely would not be able to handle it if Harry died again. The tears wouldn't stop rolling down her cheeks. Draco walked over to her and placed a blanket around her. He sat down next to her and while he wasn't used to seeing a girl cry in front of him let alone Hermione Granger herself, he let her cry on his shoulder.
"Why are you being so nice to me, Malfoy?" Hermione asked in a hushed voice.
"You have to question everything I do, don't you Granger?" He countered. "Just because I may have to treat you like a servant doesn't mean I have to like it. Besides I'm not thick to not notice you do have feelings which I have ignored in the past before. You don't deserve this Hermione. Even I can see that."
Hermione looked up at him and smiled sadly and leaned into Draco, burying her face in his shoulder. Draco froze as he felt his face heat up.
I'm glad she can't see my face right now. He thought thankfully to himself. He soon heard soft snoring from the witch. Draco carefully picked her up and set her down on the bed and covered her with the blankets.
"Draco..." He heard her say his name and turned around before reaching the door. "Yes, Hermione?"
"Thank you for taking care of me."
"Of course Granger. Can't have you dying under my watch or else your best friend Pothead would kill me." He joked and heard her laugh. "You have a nice laugh too." Hermione blushed. Now he chuckled. "Good night Hermione," he said before closing the door.
Leave a review if you liked it :) and I'll get started on the next chapter! Please don't kill me for the 2 1/2 year hiatus on this story. College has been kicking my butt and I've had no inspiration to write. I also went thru a really bad break up earlier this year.
