Hey guys. Sorry it's been so long. It's been a crazy year for me, but hopefully I can get this story done for ya in a "tasteful" (not rushed) way. Thank you for bearing with me and all the great feedback. Without further delay, I present Chapter 10 of Chance Encounter
Kagome sat still on the ground. She wasn't sure how long she sat there staring at InuYasha's slack face. She could feel his blood on her body go cold and it did nothing but drop her further into her depressive state. "It's all my fault," she whispered to no one in particular. "None of this should have happened. If I wouldn't have left. This could have all been avoided." She pulled her knees to her chest. The tears ran dry and she didn't have the strength to move herself from the ground next to her dead "brother." "Kagome?" a deep baritone called out to her, and still she sat mumbling how all these events were her fault. "Kagome." The voice was closer this time. 'Who is that? Someone to finally kill me and end this?' she thought to herself. She heard the footsteps stop abruptly. 'Whoever it is, he must've seen my brother.' A slightly shaking hand touched her shoulder.
"Stand," the voice commanded her. She didn't move, but she felt her body gently lift from the ground. She stopped mumbling at this point and was just lost in her morbid, self-loathing thoughts. The man began to walk. "You will be with Izayoi. Father and I will fix this before anyone else is lost. I'm going to fix this. I've failed you, but I will make sure this is fixed." He stopped walking and lifted Kagome's chin to make eye contact. "I will return to you."
"Sesshomaru?" she hoarsely whispered. "Don't. Just get away from here. I don't want to lose you, too. I need you to be safe." She tried to move from him, but he held on tightly.
He placed a firm kiss on her mouth. "It hurts that you have such little faith in I. I will have to prove to you why I have and always will be the Killing Perfection." He started to move again and she momentarily felt a slight pressure on her body. She looked up at his stoic faced, confused.
"What was that?"
"Inu no Taisho and I found a way to protect us from this fog as it filled the clearing. We just passed through a barrier that counters the effects of your father's miasma."
Izayoi ran up to them and hurriedly took Kagome from Sesshomaru. "Please end this Sesshomaru." He slightly nodded his head.
"I intend to." As he stepped out of the barrier he fully transformed and Inu no Taisho appeared next to him.
"Come back Sesshomaru…" Kagome whispered hoarsely.
