Christmas Update! Hope you all enjoy, please R&R. x

Scully sat downstairs examining the bones again, she had come across something that disturbed her deeply. Mulder had gone to speak to the frequenters of The Rabbit Hole, and then have a nosy around Mayor Mills office.

Scully had chosen to stay here, and see if she could get anything from the bones. Scully had found with further examination of the bones, three distinct sets of human teeth marks. Scully had taken casts on the teeth hoping this town had dental records, where it had failed to have fingerprints.

Scully took a seat with the small fairy-tale book, the pages had been typed on old paper, by a type writer. The book itself had been hand bound but clearly by a professionally. She pulled on her glasses, examining the book, which until now had remained almost solely with Mulder.

She opened the book, shifting to get comfortable, she saw the messy scrawl The Evil Queen Regina Mills. She suspected Gold might have something to do with the framing of Regina. If Regina really lost the necklace as a teenager, he clearly knew her then, and could have stolen and planted it. Gold also seemed to want to make Regina out to be suspicious.

Scully looked to the index page, if this book was made by the killers, it might give an insight into their minds. Perhaps even provide a hint to finding them, a small clue that would lead to their eventual capture.

Scully's brow furrowed the moment she began to look through the list of fairy tales.

The Crocodile Rises

The Madman Lost

The Heartless Queen

Lost in the woods

Bandit Princess

The Stable Boy

The Huntsman

Puppets

First Born

Children of the Moon

None of these titles seemed familiar to Scully, from the fairy tales she had loved as a child. "Lost in the woods" seemed like a good place to start she thought, and flicked to the story. To her surprise it was a slightly altered version of Hanzel and Gretel, the book was illustrated with slightly smudged pencil drawings. Scully admired the detail of the dress the evil queen wore, her face was not shown, but Scully wondered if the queen was drawn like Regina.

Scully thought for a few minutes and then chose "The Huntsman" to read, perhaps it would be a strange version of Snow White, she thought and smiled. Sure enough the first picture was of a girl, with ebony hair, crying over the tomb of a king. Scully stared intently at the drawing the woman looked exactly like Mary Margaret. She quickly began to read through the story of the huntsman.

Scully dropped the book on the desk, the next picture showed Graham as the huntsman, with a wolf. Scully felt panic rise in her, could he be the killer. He was close enough to Regina to be able to frame her, and he had not reported any of the deceased missing.

"Hello." Sherriff Graham's cool voice cut through the silence.

Scully looked up at him, stunned. "Hello, what are you doing here?" She said trying to keep her voice calm.

"Agent Mulder told me you'd found something, I met him at The Rabbit Hole."

"Of, yes, of course." Scully came over to Graham and knelt by the bones, taking with her a magnifying glass.

In her office room in her home, Regina whispered into Graham's heart, "Kneel close to her."

Scully felt uncomfortable by how close Graham knelt down beside her, to look at the bone she was holding up.

"See here, there are clear teeth marks, someone ripped the flesh right of the bone. Three people actually."

"You mean someone is cooking up humans?" Graham said incredulously

"Yes, there are signs that the bodies were cut up and cooked." Scully said, standing up, Graham followed her lead, leaning in close.

"I can't believe that anyone here could be capable of such a thing." Graham said

Scully nodded, she hated how close he was to her. She saw him lean in towards her, and she panicked.

"Scully." Mulder said, walking into the room, just as Scully moved away from Graham. Mulder's mind immediately filled with jealousy seeing the two of them so close.

"It's late, I must be off. I was thinking we could explore the woods more tomorrow." Graham smiled and headed out of the room, pausing in the doorway, "Goodnight Scully."

Scully quickly went over to the table, as Mulder looked after Graham as he walked away.

"Mulder, something is off, this book, of fairy tales all the characters are from this town, and the stories aren't any fairy-tale I've ever heard of."

Mulder came over to look at the stories with Scully, as she flicked through the pages, showing him the drawings. Mulder suddenly stopped and looked at a page, with a young looking Regina and a man.

"The husband?" he looked at Scully.

"You think these stories are based on the history of this town and its people, but with a magical twist?" Scully asked

"Maybe…" he smiled at her with his I've got a theory smile

Scully sighed, "You think these stories are real? Don't you? Mulder that doesn't make any senses."

"Neither does this town." Mulder said, "Where do fairy tales come from if not from past events."

"And what the wicked witch cast a curse to trap every fairy-tale character in a small town in Maine?" Scully raised her eyebrows at him

"I was actually going to say, perhaps this town has become trapped in a fairy-tale that would explain why no one ages. There is no after happily ever after, so they are all stuck."

"Or maybe we will find clues that will lead us to the killers in the forest tomorrow, and it will be completely un-supernatural. That would be my happy ending." Scully smiled.

They left the autopsy room together, locking up tightly, hoping tomorrow might provide some answeres.
